Wembley tickets England v Scotland 18th June 2021 A close mate of mine has two tickets in a corporate box for this match. He paid £300 each, but he didn't know when he bought them that it was going to be the same day as his Covid-19 postponed wedding. If you are interested, he is looking for someone to take his place. It's at Hamilton Registry Office, at 2.30pm. The bride's name is Moira, she's 5'4", about 8 stone, quite pretty, has her own income and is a really good cook.5 points

Just tell all these riders that fancy Poland “off you go” and build our leagues without them ,we need to start at the bottom again anyway, it was all getting out of hand before the Pandemic.3 points

Agree totally but that is the way of the world as you say the new owners are changing things but the history obviously weighs heavy on them2 points

None of which has anything to do with the fact that the track at Rye House is being ripped up for no good reason in 2020.2 points

Remember this money is only a loan and the monies “allocated” for each sport still require individual clubs/organisations (they who will have responsibility for paying back the loan) to apply for their own individual loan. In doing so one of the criteria they will need to meet is to demonstrate the losses they will make from not having crowds in attendance or similar forms of income such as sponsorship I.e. no event/crowd no (reduced) sponsorship money. They will also need to show how the loan will be paid back. The term “winter sport” is a bit of a red herring and only applicable because of the period of time the loans will be available the “winter” months of Dec - March. Clearly some sports operate throughout the year both indoor & outdoors thus this latter element is not a consideration for the eligibility of applying for a loan.2 points

Well I went to 4 youth meetings this year and the behaviour of fans was good. The crowds were big enough that poor social distancing could easily have been a problem but it wasn't. In fact the conduct of fans was significantly better than many people I've encountered in the local supermarket.2 points

Page 12 under headline roynon back, can't be much of a secret then but knowing the said person he will be trying to get a better deal off another club !!1 point

It’s been a number of years since I last went to Plymouth, but I always enjoyed my visits down there. I also don’t know the background of the current promotion but from pictures of the track/stadium, the news coming out of Plymouth during the pandemic earlier this year, branding and efforts made to stage meetings look highly commendable - long may that continue.... and Friday night racing too!1 point
-
The problem with the buggy was that it is very small & if there were a lot of people trying to get on to go up to the stadium it became a bit of a Wedge. Perhaps they could arrange to" putter nother " one on1 point

Glasshouses and all that,Plymouth have moved on from previous promotions took a step back into nl and rebuilt the clubs finances with much improved commercial side, and the track and facilities are excellent club should not be judged on previous owners.1 point

Fixtures are usually released in mid December, don't think they'll delay it but rather have several options depending on Covid developments.1 point

If Somerset were allowed to revert back to Friday nights that would confirm how bias and unfair plymouth are being treated by the mc,as one of the reasons for plymouth being turned down last season was that there is to many Friday night tracks but i guess that doesn't apply when your promoter is on the mc,who says it's not all about self interest and different rules for different clubs. I will watch developments with interest but I think I know what the outcome will be,the word corrupt springs to mind!1 point

Last year( pre Covid pandemic) they were published on December 7th- so my best guess would be shortly( unless they hold off for Covid reasons).1 point

All I got was a computer generated general reply mentioning COVID problems. Their complaint system is utter rubbish a bit like their deliveries at the moment.1 point

Forget the final GP; Rickardsson lost the World Championship much earlier in the season. Actually, he was robbed by one of the worst refereeing decisions in World Championship history.1 point

Somerset was always Friday night racing until the last few years if you recall- I for one will be delighted if they revert back to Fridays it’s a great start to the weekend.1 point

i think it was scrapped last season, although some tracks allow former team members entry.1 point

Is there not a BSPA pass that can be bought by riders - ADMIT 1. Promoters really can't get it right. If they allow ex riders in free, you get a massive backlash from paying fans, especially when the rider didn't even ride for that team. If they don't allow them in free they are accused of being tight . BTW Football League teams don't allow all explayers to get in for home games. Another aggravation is when an ex rider comes in he expects to bring his mates in with him as well.1 point
-
He didn't want to ride last year & had to have his arm bent. Even if rules allowed I wouldn't expect top see him in the team next year anyway. Would be happy to see BWD slot back in with or without a reduced points limit.1 point

Absolutely. I remember that final GP in 2000 vividly, and Rickardsson was absolutely superb. He was never headed before the final and I've no doubt he'd have won that final if he'd needed to - he was simply deflated after Loram had sealed the total. It was a terrific achievement from Loram to win a title during a period when Rickardsson was at his absolute peak1 point

all that will change come march/april/may ... back into 3 month lockdowns again . then have a few months off and guess what ? back into lockdown again because the drugs did not work ..1 point

Brings to mind Loomer Road, Stoke. Anybody else remember, at certain times of the season, those pauses in racing to wait for the sun to set? From the first bend at Halifax, there was a view into the pits. Worth arriving early to secure a prime spot. Watching the tinkering helped pass the time between heats.1 point

A lot of truth in this. From what i've been told, promises were made by the BSPA (with regard to TV money amongst other things) that were never kept. The new owners of the lease paid a lot of money for it, way way way beyond anything a Speedway promoter would have paid.1 point

Silver played his part by selling to a bloke who had no idea about the sport and had no attachment to the sport or club. A decision which has ultimately seen the demise of the club. Warren Scott had no real interest and then left the running of the club to Steve Jenson who again had no idea about the sport and came across as completely out of his depth. Had all the personality of a wet lettuce and employed people like Peter Schroeck who was out of his depth. Also seems he overpaid with wages to Harris, Nicholls, KK etc causing issues in the second season in the top flight. The whole situation is an absolute disgrace and sums up the sport and the prats running it. A track with unlimited restrictions, history in the sport and a profitable business for nearly 20 years. Then half a season of financial issues (due to being forced to run on a weekday by the BSPA) and the track is lost and ripped out within a couple of years. Chapman and Godfrey were an abomination in charge of the sport and played a huge part in the demise as well. Two more incompetent fools would be hard to find. Bringing fixed race nights nearly ruined many clubs and cost Rye. Rye has never been a midweek club and it was never going to work. After very good crowds in 2017(racing on Fridays/Saturdays) and only just missing out on the playoffs, you can't blame BMR for giving it ago in the top league again but the rule bought in killed the club. For the BSPA to then just chuck the club out midseason and wash their hands of the club was a disgrace. I wouldn't have thought Silver very rarely ever lost money at Rye and Jenson confirmed the finances were in good shape after the first season in the top flight. Three months of problems and the decisions of the BSPA meant the bulldozers have moved in eventually. With idiots like Godfrey still in charge of the sport, there is no hope. This is the bloke who stopped clubs running on their usual nights in case he needed guests for his club... How did the bloke in there now, Ricky Musk get hold of the venue off BMR? Why were the BSPA not in touch with BMR as soon as they knew they had problems and taking on the stadium or getting another promoter in there? They sat on their backsides and let someone like Keven Jolly try and get a deal to race at a venue where speedway was the number one priority at the venue for many years The situation at Rye should make every fan who has an interest in the sport very, very angry. A club with a long history and who had very healthy crowds in 2017 are now lost forever. A sad indictment on the sport.1 point

I would question that. I think if you are new it does matter to know you are seeing a "someone" who is known to be established and good at a sport. I would say the appeal of a former World Champion is much greater than a journeymen NL rider. As a general rule people aren't silly (this forum though.....) people do know what "good" looks like when it comes to sport, attendances typically reflect that, the better participants do attract the better crowds. In a world where you took a group of people to a game of football who had never attended football before, what appeals more to more "that guy is Leo Messi, he has been pretty much regarded as one of the best players in the world the last 10 years" or "that is Mike he isn't that good really" - while the fame of Doyle is clearly less than Messi that general rule does still apply. RE the general point of creating balance being touched on here. The rule changes speedway has made to build crowds, create balance in teams, water down the product etc hasn't worked because there is an element of false and BS to it and most see through it. Sport is generally about becoming and creating the best to then shot that participant or team down, speedway has spent 20 years trying to remove its self from that, the sport has created a false economy and it is failed one, there is no good, bad, balance in sides and clubs just a really mixed bag of crap with no one knowing what they actually are. There is little wrong with "big clubs" and "small clubs" a club size should generally reflect the local area and population, if the sport had walked that path it would have been OK. Speedway does little to create club mentality, club ethos, club identity I would argue these things offer a greater assistance to attendance than "oh jeez get the clacker and air horn out we just got pumped but what a smashing race, pass me my Wulf Sport jacket I am away for a Bovril",1 point

Clubs move leagues for business reasons. Somerset, Peterborough, Leicester all found they got the same crowd for Elite as they did for championship matches but the wages were a lot less , and often, the fans preferred the standard of championship RACING. Ive seen fantastic RACES at amateur meetings , just because someone gets paid more doesn’t mean it produces better racing.1 point

So why do neutral fans go to other tracks ? ( Newcastle fans go to Redcar every week for example ) why go to individual meetings ? why go to GP’s? to watch RACING!.1 point
