and there we have it.....”more people shopping in a market close to 4 days a week and not wearing masks and social distancing is unheard of”. These are the sort of people that are knowingly flouting the advice and so the virus takes hold again. There our speedway supporters on hear who happily tell they too are flouting the advice, some saying they hope to go to Ipswich and would flout the advice their too. Selfish self centred people who do not care there are others who would love to go to speedway too, but may be vulnerable to infection so are put off going anywhere, never mind a speedway meeting, because they know others couldn’t care less how others feel. A case of a few spoiling it for the many.4 points

I wasn't lucky enough to get a ticket but feel gutted for the fans that did but now can't go. Whether it was a good or mediocre line up is irrelevant it was a speedway meeting and that's what counts. I know this virus is serious but for goodness sake do this Government have any idea at all what they are doing. A speedway meeting with 1000 fans watching in a stadium that holds thousands more than that gets cancelled yet there are more people shopping in a Market close to me 4 days a week and not wearing masks and social distancing is unheard of. For goodness sake Boris get a grip and let's have some sort of life back.4 points

Jeez, don't let B'Witcher or DC2 (and their clique) read that post. You'll get hung, drawn and quartered for posting such 'nonsense' (in their eyes) but common sense to most others. For the record I agree with you and if you don't comprehend my comment above, pop on over to the 'Covid-19 Are We Being Told The Truth' thread if you have 6 hours to spare...4 points

C'mon lets get real here. If 1000 folk can't get to attend the 'British' Final it's not the end of the world. Getting on top of the pandemic has to be the priority. At the end of the day speedway is still just a sport and although Ipswich and BSPA have put a lot of work into preparing for a meeting there are greater priorities in life. Covid 19 is out of control so why are measures not been brought in immediately rather than October as quoted? Surely it would be better having a couple of months full lockdown now and perhaps some level of Christmas and New Year can be salvaged and families can get together and businesses saved.4 points

Tobias Musialak and Rasmus Jensen didn't need visas to ride for Swindon last season. Did make them British? Crump is Australian, but I have no problems in him riding in this year's British Final Actually for once I feel sorry for the BSPA, they have sweated buckets to get this event on and been met with a barrage of whinges from fans, and now there is a strong likelihood that the event will be cancelled and they'll have to foot the sunk costs.4 points

Anyway, IMO it's fine to call it the British Final. Fingers crossed, that as a test event, it's not affected by this morning's news from the government. The BSPA have had to really jump the hurdles to get this on - let's hope all that hard work is not scuppered.3 points

The few are those who not only disagree with what an elected government is advising, but is actively demonstrating with their actions they are ignoring any advice and mix with society in general without taking precautions. Thus, the increase that is taking place meaning the many who want to work along with the advice so restrictions can be lifted and get back to as much normality we can at any point in time.2 points

Totally right about the Qualifying rounds Addio there were lots of them and most tracks had one prestige individual meeting per season. The point you made of only seeing certain riders ride once or twice a year is so true made it more exciting.Thinking back there were a few riders i never really got the chance to see ride that much for whatever reason.?? Pander, Nordin,Plech,Younghusband, Airey, Monk, were a few who come to mind.2 points

Don't bother, Twitcher is always right and will try to discredit and prove you wrong at every opportunity. He is the UK's expert on Coronavirus and the flu. Whitty & Co know nothing apparently.2 points

ONE of my favourite stories about Kelly, who you had to love no matter what he got up to. When Kelly returned to Hull for his first meeting after finishing fourth in the 1979 World Final, behind fellow Viking Ivan Mauger, promoters Ian Thomas and Brian Larner presented him with a very fine canteen of cutlery to. commemorate his achievement. After the meeting, as the crowd was leaving, Ian spotted a fan carrying the gift. He rapidly approached and asked how she had obtained it. The answer was simple: Kelly sold it to her Ian actually bought it back ...2 points

Rest in Peace Bernie. He was Cradley Heath in the early 70s. He was my dad’s hero and I can still remember as a seven year old, the first meeting after he came second in the 1972 world final. Watching him being mobbed by the thousands of fans on the back straight as he made his way round to the pits. Unbelievable memories. Then the afternoon Bernie was staying at the Prince Albert Hotel in Wall Heath where I lived. My dad sent me up to see if I could see him and there were hundreds outside waiting for him to appear. He came outside to meet the fans and sign autographs. Back when the sport was really big !2 points

Anyone returning from abroad for this meeting would have to do 14 days quarantine.... hardly worth it for one meeting, especially if it means missing meetings abroad for it. I’m sorry but this year’s British champ will have a hollow ring to it. I know you can only race what’s in front of you but .... bloody hell, look what’s in front of you. Stop trying to big it up, accept that 2020 is exceptional and call it the British open. Anyone looking back in years to come will say “ahh. It was the covid year” not a true image of the talent that the uk has at the moment. I admire the authorities and Ipswich for putting this but please accept it for what it is .... Not a British final.2 points

I used to quite like individual meetings Sid, but in the days before it was regularly televised. In those days you might only get to see the top riders once or twice a year so it was something special to see them. Now that they are on TV every few weeks it’s not quite the same. I used to like the qualifying rounds for the old one day world final so you could support your home riders to see how far they got.1 point

Freedoms eroding by the day, however I do get the feeling that some who agreed with the original restrictions back in March are now starting to get itchy feet! However I still cannot believe that hardly anyone in the media is holding the government to account!1 point

Dave's latest commentary winge. Riders wearing identical team suits make it hard for me to work out who is who. Hope he's not missed his dinner tonight.1 point

Well if the new restrictions are going to be in place for maybe 6 months, that will take us until the end of March. Are we going to get a definitive answer on whether or not crowds will be allowed in before then? The situation regarding Brough may still be as it is now.1 point

I think it`s bl**ding obvious- he only changed nationality so that Wroclaw could use him at 6 and 7( 14 and 15) as a " Polish " U 21 rider.1 point

We agree because this is speedway based and not Covid/Coronavirus related...on that we'll never agree.1 point

I haven't mentioned anything to do with following or not following the law. I have asked you, what you disagree with in the facts I have posted. Once again, you are unable to disagree with anything. Here's another fact for you. Death Certs mentioning Covid-19 this year: 51,917 Death Certs mentioning Flu/Pneumonia this year: 73,770 Again, official stats taken from the ONS.. although the flu/pneumonia figure is higher as a lot of certificates have both Covid and Flu recorded on them, but are only included as Covid on the figure.1 point
-
Still the sad old dictator and know it all....give it a rest. You do whatever you like whilst the rest of us will follow and do what those that are running this country advise because that's the LAW. Now naff off back to the Covid thread with your pals so you can chew the fat about Coronavirus v Flu blah, blah, bleedin' blah 'til the cows come home.1 point

Don`t forget that Div 1 and 2 had to start after the Extraleague because they couldn`t afford to run without crowds whereas the Extraleague could initially- This meant that there just wasn`t time to fit in play-offs as Poland historically do not run much into October as it tends to get really cold and wet.1 point

More inane childish nonsense. I have only posted the facts. Indisputable facts, as provided by the government. The fact you get so worked up about them because they contradict what the media has told you speaks volumes. Keep scaremongering.. Keep killing.1 point

Nobody without a crystal ball or time machine can possibly know who will or won’t succeed out of the current crop but it’s certain they are far more likely to with more exposure to continental circuits and being pushed in the UK away from the NL.1 point

Having made your feelings known elsewhere blu it's a good job you're not attending as the do's and don'ts to enable this "test event" to go ahead are massive and would definitely curtail proceedings if people don't do as asked. That's your choice and equally your opinion, but let others enjoy what's on offer if you will.1 point

Leszno must be a hell of a frustrating team to ride against.. They always seem to come up with race wins from riders who you wouldn't always have down at the start of the race as favourite.. They will take some stopping again..1 point

Absolutely bang on. As a fan, I have no strong feeling either way for Zmarzlik. To be honest, I would have preferred Woffinden to have won. But I do like it when our World Champion is a rider who demonstrates real all-round quality by overtaking his closest rivals. Think Penhall v Olsen and Knudsen 1981, Collins v Simmons in 1976 and Rickardsson v Nielsen in 1994. Its the mark of a real champion. Zmarzlik is a bona fide class act well worthy of the mantle of World Champion.1 point

No disrespect intended in your opinion, but when was the last time Tai and Robert took part, even with this year's current problem? Howarth missing through injury, Scott I suspect his age plus no riding this year, Cook is probably the venue, no idea on Wright. Cast your mind back to last year, who was the star of the meeting? Sadly he's not with us now, but a big name he wasn't but he lit up the meeting #Danny Ayres.1 point
