For someone who knows about the sport you talk some rubbish at times,It’s the bike set-up that makes them the fastest on the night. These machines are not performing anywhere near the maximum speed that they can achieve .Its set up and gearing that gives them performance.5 points

I agree, don't think a 2 point lead is enough, but the fans are celebrating winning a last heat decider. Good on them.4 points

Of course he knows that, it's pretty much the same for most tv live meetings, he just sets out to, in his mind, be controversial and generate conversation, it's really not needed but hey ho. Anyone watching that last night can only marvel at what Bartosz can get out of his machinery, he's brilliant to watch, moreso when he's beaten out of the gate, I was willing Woffy to hold out in that final but inside I knew he was going to get overhauled, it was an enthralling race. If Bart retains the crown it will be fully deserved, best rider in the world right now. .4 points

Zmarzlik generates speed in a similar fashion to Gollob. He's a true great who has track craft. Best rider in the world.4 points

Always been over hyped I think, a CL reserve at best. Palin, Thompsons are jumping ahead now of a few who have been ahead of them in age cycle. Kemp clearly top of his age bracket with Brennan and Palin and the twins a few years younger are catching fast. Gilkes is coming along very quickly a bit off the radar, well managed by Len.3 points

Looking at the scores in the under 19s, Bickley looks a strange inclusion in this event.3 points

Absolutely bang on. As a fan, I have no strong feeling either way for Zmarzlik. To be honest, I would have preferred Woffinden to have won. But I do like it when our World Champion is a rider who demonstrates real all-round quality by overtaking his closest rivals. Think Penhall v Olsen and Knudsen 1981, Collins v Simmons in 1976 and Rickardsson v Nielsen in 1994. Its the mark of a real champion. Zmarzlik is a bona fide class act well worthy of the mantle of World Champion.3 points

Av got very fond memories of wigton maryport aspatria & silloth when I worked over there in the 90's.. remember 1 hot night in silloth the farm I lived on at the time my landlady ( lovely women ) made me hot corned beef hash hotpot & I went out into silloth got a very cold bottle of broon supped it like pop & yes within minutes there was the hotpot outside on the deck ha which made extra room fir more cold broon... Fantastic days3 points

So he 'cheats' time, and time, and time, and time, again...? For two years? And he hasn't been tested and found out? The unique thing about Speedway is that it takes place on all shapes and sizes of tracks, and it also takes place on tracks with differing levels of grip/slickness etc. All of which will impact a bikes characteristics very acutely... Meaning a 'too fast bike' is no use.. You then have the completely random riding order which may favour certain gates given the track grading schedule.. You then have the weather which can influence many a meeting dependant on your gates when the adverse weather strikes... Yet, within all these variables Zmarzlik is still 100% head and shoulders the best on the planet.. Maybe, (therefore), he is just very, very good....? And also maybe we should just sit back, relax, and enjoy watching a potential 'great' at work.. Him and Woffy are truly a couple of all time greats whose races are (cliche alert), always worth the admission alone.. Just enjoy the unique spectacle..3 points

Well done to Dan Gilkes. People talk about Drew, the Thompsons and Jordan a lot, but Dan is right up there with them. That was certainly a good crop of talent on show today. And Dan a Racer at Development League level too!2 points

Oh aye they're fn torture. Have I mentioned the weird "looking to the side" in an empty room? I actually don't mind the commentary. It's so unabashedly biased and one eyed that it's almost a refreshing change from the usual political correctness.2 points

Simply a superb meeting, great racing and plenty of drama.2 points

Didnt they say that he had made some ”changes” during the winter? Good ones if you look at his season...2 points

For me Lidsey right up there for one of the most improved riders this year. When they dropped Kurtz did he grab it with both hands, potentially a GP rider in the making2 points

The Russian championship is being raced today, missing riders are, Sayfutinov, A Laguta, G Laguta and Chugunov, a sign of the times ? The British championship hasn't mattered since the 1990s and the start of the GPs anybody who thinks it does is delusional2 points

Zmarzlik is head and shoulders above, who cares if he has the fastest bikes, the same could be said for Woffy numerous times he won it. His straight line speed was way faster than anyone else. Rickardsson looked his bike was 1000cc at times. It happens. Zmarzlik without a doubt the best rider in the world right now, absolutely superb.2 points

Do you still think he’s boring after last night? He has to be by far the most exciting rider to watch in the Grand Prixs currently2 points

I'm told when Bobby signed for Hull in early 1996, he obtained 2 new standard JAWAs and simply got on with it, with mostly just himself wielding the spanners. His '96 season ended early due to injury, his bikes were sold and the riders in question (names redacted) were nowhere near as spectacular as was 'Showtime', but ,wow, was he geat to watch.....2 points

And all this discussion about who got what championship points, way after the end of the meeting as per last night, I find slightly amusing. Wouldn't it be easier to just award points according to where you finish in a race? 3 for first, 2 for second and 1 for third might work.2 points
-
IF you don't enjoy watching Zmarzlik then speedway really isn't for you ... long track style down the back starlight to generate the speed to pass Woffy. Spectacular.2 points

Anyone returning from abroad for this meeting would have to do 14 days quarantine.... hardly worth it for one meeting, especially if it means missing meetings abroad for it. I’m sorry but this year’s British champ will have a hollow ring to it. I know you can only race what’s in front of you but .... bloody hell, look what’s in front of you. Stop trying to big it up, accept that 2020 is exceptional and call it the British open. Anyone looking back in years to come will say “ahh. It was the covid year” not a true image of the talent that the uk has at the moment. I admire the authorities and Ipswich for putting this but please accept it for what it is .... Not a British final.2 points

While I have every respect for Len and his years in the sport, Dan has been a great talent since well before he joined Kent. He cleaned up in the development leagues at 16, the NL clubs were queuing up for him. His parents have made sure he takes the right steps at the right time, they deserve the credit for his management.1 point

Yes you would have thought it would have been worth while waiting till after today's event and offering the final place to the top rider not already riding. It would have been a nice little incentive probably on a level with the winner of the British Final usually getting the wild card at Cardiff for these young guys/1 point

I think this has been done to death before but can I ask (sorry if it's repeat) a question regarding transponders? All bikes at the GPs are fitted with transponders, which measure lap times and race times to a thousandth of a second. Can these same devices be used to measure start time response times? Thus, as in athetics, we could have a scientific measure of starts.1 point

It seems that selection is influenced by whose face fits, the even more amusing part is that several previous no-hopers are now talking up their chances of going for the title.1 point

Bickley is a strange choice? Declined U21 European spot earlier in season. Brennan I get as got in on 6.05 average, Kemp is defending U19 Champion and Home Team rider. I can find 11 British riders with average higher than Bickley and below 6 points. Likes of Shanes, Newman, Morris, Clegg, Neilsen, Lambert, Sergeant, Mountain, Greaves....were they asked?1 point

It's all about set up, too much power, too much spin, gets you nowhere.1 point

NEVER read them but what has that to do with Zmarzlik? I can guarantee you that there isn't a rider in the SGP who thinks that he is cheating. Not only is he speedway's World Champion but one of the most popular sportsman in Poland. Speedway at SGP level has numerous methods to check machinery etc. Having a fast bike is one thing, being able to make it count is quite another as Bartosz showed in the final tonight. I would also add that he is a delightful young lad, from a terrific family.1 point
-
No you are sad, Zmarzlik the best rider over two rounds, get over it. What happened to your lover boy Janowski tonight? I was screaming for a Woffy win, but Zmarzlik different class. Oh forget Zmarzlik never rode for the roller coaster all kippers and curtains Poole!1 point
-
Wow... Zmarzlik and deservedly so... Woffy to be a bit harsh has to cover inside to mid track and shouldn't be passed underneath, make your opponent go round you if they want to win, but fair play... The best rider in the world should be World Champ, and it looks like no Mickey Mouse scoring system will prevent that happening.. Woofy and Zmarzlik a joy to watch when they race...1 point

Tv couldn`t get the scores right again- Emil 10 Magic 9 not the other way around !!!!!1 point

And to be fair his sponsors do get maximum exposure given he goes past each camera so slowly..1 point

I hope that Fricke gets a wildcard next year. Feel that whilst not setting the world alight, he has made progress this season and deserves another go.1 point
-
All set up for Zmarzlik this.. The way they are only running GP's at tracks that are oval and have dirt on them.. The way they are running races over four laps just in case he isn't leading at the end of lap one.. The way every other rider just slows up and let's him fly past them, inside and outside.. Should have a GP at Buxton and see how well he does there..1 point

Berwick`s Kyle Bickley has replaced Dan Bewley in the up and coming British Final.1 point

I strongly disagree with your note that "this year that it is heavily weighted towards Polish riders" Anybody who is somebody in world speedway rides day in and day out in the Polish League. Tai Woffinden has been Wroclaw riders for years more than I can remember. So is the case with any foreign riders. How therefore you, or anybody else, can claim that this year is heavily weighted toward Polish riders.1 point

Price is fine for the stream, can't understand the moans. Can't compare to third division at Plymouth, costs way bigger for this event.1 point
-
Fully respect this but most people are attracted by the better quality riders, and to call it a British final with four top men absent after some Australians in doesn’t seem right. British Open as suggested would have been better, plus a cheaper stream price (I appreciate that’s not as simple as it sounds).1 point

Damn right disgraceful no young Australians have been invited to take part1 point
