Makes sense to plan a move away from Greyhound tracks.. No long term growth plan (no matter how good), will be delivered if you are relying on the sport of greyhound racing to provide you ongoing with their facilities to use..2 points

It was changed to the knockout formula in 1998, when they extended the series to 21-22 riders (plus 2-3 wildcards). It was also open to manipulation, with riders dropping points in the final outing to prevent another rider taking part in the A Final. That's what was good about the "every point counts" scoring system - it cut manipulation almost completely out.2 points

Very tempted to have one more bet. Not sure whether I'll place it or not yet though If I do then it's Doyle Under & Exactly 8 as I think his confidence will be at an all time low after those GP performances.1 point

Kolodziej toying with the opposition. Too easy. A few decent races though, thanks mainly to Lambert.1 point

There’s a song in there somewhere:Oh I got twenty acres and you got forty-three Now I’ve got a brand new combine harvester and I’ll give you the key (Ohh ar ohh ar)1 point

That's the problem. It's easy for speedway fans to dismiss other sports, but there has to be a reason why nearly everything is more popular than speedway...1 point

Yes, it's terrible that riders qualifying for a final (using a system that is the same for EVERYONE, and which EVERYONE knew in advance) get more points than the others... Tsk, tsk...1 point

That does sound like darts here in the US, then. What I find sad is that dart players keep bleating about how it should be more popular, and should be on TV, but aren't interested in helping the cause. I hadn't really thought about that in other sports until you mentioned it. Only in speedway will fans "refuse" to watch the sport they supposedly love!1 point

It does make an awful lot of sense. I never understood all the negativity over the two-day 1987 World Final. It was the first time we'd travelled abroad for a final and loved that it was over two days rather than one, and we got to see 40 races instead of 20.1 point

Great racing - tick Flawed scoring - tick But the other takeaway from this weekend is having GPs back to back on Friday and Saturday nights makes perfect sense going forward. In terms of practically, financially and competitively. We all know it's a costly job and a half putting these events on, particularly for the one-off tracks. So, why not just do it twice over the weekend from 2021 onwards - offering better value for the punter, spreading costs thinner for the organisers, even greater exposure for sponsors, double the content for media? Have a small practice on a Friday morning and crack on into the racing for Friday night. From a riders perspective, it gives ample chance for everyone to get something out of the weekend. Any rider struggling with set up on Friday, has a chance to come back wiser on Saturday and potentially, an even more competitive meeting. From a punter's perspective too, you could get a "double discount" for both nights and I think most would go for it. Every GP I've been to - Cardiff, Prague, Daugvapils, Lonigo, Torun Krsko, Bydgoszcz - has consisted of a very enjoyable Friday night p** up looking forward to the next night. But would I rather have been sniffing the fumes and seeing 23 races? Damn right!1 point

That is a very good idea and even with an extra race(24 instead of 23) it shouldn`t take any longer as you can have a grade after 20 heats while they sort out the placings and gate picks and then straight through with the 4 finals.1 point

At 6.24, a young lad in the centre is wearing a visor remarkably similar to what many are wearing now in the corona virus crisis. How come no-one thought of manufacturing those back in the day? At tracks where receiving a faceful of shale was always likely, they would have sold like hotcakes!1 point

If it was a £10 sport then more would go, and far more regularly, without any doubt.. Which can only increase atmosphere and enjoyment of the 'overall experience'. .. When the Aces tried it a few years ago at the old place, the crowds were noticeably larger, however the Promoters deemed it a failure as they took less money than the usual crowd at the usual admission.. So it stopped, and crowds dropped back when full admission was resumed... I presume it stopped because that was far easier than doing something about why the costs were so high that needed such a high admission charge in the first place.... The more difficult thing to do of course would be reducing these costs down to make something like £10 price point workable... Therefore it wont ever get done...1 point
