Poole is still Matt's tenure even though he's now based in France. He still owns the club, has strong political and business allies locally, is adamant that speedway will continue at Poole Stadium in 2021 and will be doing his utmost to retain speedway in Poole for the longer term.4 points

Too be honest, I think it's great to see Mr C in the side some would argue there wouldn't be a Scunthorpe Speedway without the likes of Wayne Carter great chance and occasion to give him one last meeting.3 points

Contrary to many peoples views Poole have always been one of my favorite teams mainly as my favorite all time rider Brian Crutcher came from there . Matt Ford alienated a lot of people during his tenure but Speedway will be the poorer without Poole.3 points

A lot of thought has gone into this , which means that the BSPA will almost certainly kick it into the long grass2 points

Is it the reduced money? Many of the riders when riding away seem to be going through the motions at times but doing ok at home.. Earn a few quid at home and not take too many risks away?1 point

The artificial crowd has made it somewhat more bearable.. without that, it would be impossible. But even that will only keep interest for so long. Quarter full stadiums won't do it either..1 point

I've accepted the situation. This seasons FA cup final was the first domestic Arsenal final I've missed in 40 years. With little chance of grounds returning to full capacity anytime soon, I'll give my support to my local non league clubs, that are due to get going next week.1 point

Nicki P should win Heat 1 vs. Wozniak, KK & Pawlicki Then pick up at least 4 points in his next two rides by beating Buczkowski & Karczmarz in Heat 6 and then Wozniak & Buczkowski in Heat 9 if no tactical subs come into play. At worst pick up a point in Heat 11 So that's 8 from his 4 programmed rides. Looking a 2 points from the tac sub ride and nominated ride in 14 or 15. Good bet is Nicki P tonight imo.1 point

Yh it is. EDITED the post before your quote tweet lol. Wozniak & KK ride. Think both Laguta & Nicki P will cover the overs tbh. 6 rides each1 point
-
I believe it's Holder in for Iversen, so no Iversen tonight for Gorzow. Which is why I think I will back Pedersen as he seems to have easier rides than Laguta.1 point

TOMMY and I always agreed that his best performance was for Denmark in the 1985 World Team Cup Final in Long Beach, USA. Sensational...1 point

Because Poland is where it's at and that is obviously the model to follow. I have in the past suggested that UK clubs should link up with Polish clubs to act as feeders for them, especially for when the juniors get too old to ride at 6 and 7 for them, they could quite easily fade into obscurity where if they were farmed out to British clubs, with a cash subsidy, they could gain experience on our tracks, they would be committed to turning up every week and our lads would have better opposition to race against... win win1 point

I'm late to this chat and am intrigued by this comment. Semi-professional leagues? Is that about the UK in the 80s or am I misunderstanding? If it IS, does this mean that riders like Bruce, Erik and Hans have lesser World Titles than modern riders? Despite being a huge fan of Emil, he has less SGP wins than Leigh, so I'm scratching my head at this comment. I'll add a suggestion for best that never won, which I expect will get little love....Jarek Hampel. The boy was a regular near the top of the averages in Poland but, like Tommy K, suffered badly from injuries at the wrong time and missed a few seasons due to an excess of Polish riders already in the series, so no wildcards for him.... Emil had 3 years out of the GP series...2014, 15 and 16. 2014 he had a slightly better average than Tai in the Ekstraliga, but Tai came 4th in the SGP series that year. The only year that Emil missed where Tai won was 2015. Tai was 2nd in the Ekstraliga averages that year while Emil was 12th. Polish league averages obviously don't tell us everything, but I'm not sure that Emil was the best any year where he sat out the GP series. Ekstraliga averages suggest he was at, or close to, his worst those years... I'm really confused about what has been said about tickets for Torun. We have tickets for Saturday and will be trying to buy for Friday too...but I'm really not sure how it will work with the crowd restrictions currently in place....Unless there has been a massive number of cancellations from tour groups from various Nations, like Travel Plus, which has meant that Saturday is around the acceptable 50% limit...1 point

I'm confident that it hasn't. The old man has still got a whole load of points left in him...Just a bad night at the office, and sadly ZG had no backup when he had a rare off night...MJJ and Lindback need to sort themselves out sharpish or ZG will be outside the playoff positions come the end of the regular season. It's fairly irrelevant what the helicopter cost as it was paid by sponsors rather than the club, but it definitely made the difference tonight. Interesting that Chris had a relatively low score for Torun today...Seems that his best bikes might have been headed to his "guest" team rather than his "real" team. Lucky for him that Batchelor was dreadful or the Torun fans might very well have been asking big questions. Don't forget that difference that advances in safety and medical care have made. I am sure a few of those that still keep going later wouldn't be if it wasn't for those two...Some because they suffered injuries that they previously wouldn't have come back from and some because they don't see the same risk as there was in the past. I'm really surprised that no-one has picked up Viktor Kulakov. Zielona Gora could do worse than give him a try. I'm not sure about the rules and whether there is any limit on the number of riders that can be taken from 1 team (the rest of the Torun top 5 are already guesting in the Ekstraliga), or even if Viktor WANTS to try Ekstraliga this year, but he was top of the Liga 1 averages last year and is only just marginally behind Jack Holder at the top this year. He's a tidy little rider and could surely do a job for some Ekstraliga team that has foreign riders not delivering *cough* ZG *cough* Alex did a fine job covering for you. As someone mentioned earlier, it would be great to have you both doing comms together...get some discussion going rather than 1 man trying to fill all the gaps alone.1 point

Did you all miss me? Thankyou to Alex for being a "tactical substitute" yesterday while I was busy with car racing commitments, I will be back on the air tonight.1 point

See your point on the cost but actually your probably going to get VALUE for the 45 quid you say it may cost you as it's 9 v 9 so plenty of heats to watch !!1 point

A bit late in the day but I have just watched the youth championship held at Scunthorpe and those who bemoan the quality of racing at this level should take a look again. Heat 6 is just one example. Raw talent reminiscent of speedway in the late sixties and early seventies when grass track riders gave speedway a go. In those days it would throw up some riders who would excite and my most memorable was at Rayleigh when Ivan Miller beat Boston's Arthur Price. What a race for those who were in the stadium on that bank holiday Monday These young lads today deserve every speedway fans support. They get out on track and give it a go and the gutsy performances deserve so much more and not the criticism that seems to be par for the course. Speedway purists will understand, those who believe the current league set up is the be all and end all a requires the skills of Doyley or similar to make the sport entertaining are deluded. If only tracks like my local, Ipswich , would put on a few of these amateur meetings I am sure the ‘anoraks’ of the sport would support the meetings and many would be happy to pay £10 to watch these lads entertain. To those at grass roots level you are appreciated.1 point

Be good if Premier would put their hands in their pocket and employ both Alex and Dave Goddard to work together. Better to have two commentators. Holder really doing a fine job so far.1 point

Now confirmed as Wednesday 26th on the club website. ps. Its the last 'rewind meeting' of the Summer!! Although on Tuesday September 1st Somerset are showing the Rebels v Pirates from 2018 at 1930hours.1 point

Because 2nd place would have been enough to make KK the winner of the meeting. It used to happen in one-off World finals. Many riders (eg Mauger, Collins, Penhall) settled for a second in their final ride to ensure winning the meeting and not take any unneccesary risk. Even a third would have guaranteed a GP place. Instead he found himself excluded and at risk of not qualifying. That's why he could have settled for second.1 point

As anyone ever considered that COVID might stand for control of vaccination for identification? In other words take your medicine or leave your face nappy on for ever!1 point

The meetings are chosen first and foremost for the standard of the racing. We have a record of how many heats from each match were chosen for the end of season highlights tapes. So while Newport may have had better teams in other matches they did not provide such good racing.1 point

Why should we not be attending public gatherings. Not all medical conditions are visible. Myself and many others are able and entitled to make the most of our lives and that includes enjoying/watching sports/theatre/cinema etc. If I felt unwell I would not be going out in the first place. Just because some of us can't wear a mask doesn't mean we have to lock ourselves away, understanding and tolerance is needed in these uncertain times by everyone.1 point

I agree with Steve!! This never happens. Sandhu shut Coventry down, whatever Matt did or didn't do, he didn't shut it down. He apparently tried to help to keep it open. Only people with other issues they have with Matt blame him for it.1 point
