Just caught up through YouTube. Decent meeting. Nice track Grudiadz. Heat 15 was a tough one. Hope Lebedev is ok. Lambert was running for the kerb going into turn 1, maybe he came in a little to soon but Lebedev had no awareness and Robert spent the race 2nd guessing him. Lebedev had been at that all night. Good speed for Robert though. Those FGM pulling well and he looks quick. He’s a quality rider is Robert, probably took on a bit too much last season, hopefully he’s back to his 2018 form. I do think he’s in the top 16 riders in the world, and is consistent on the continent. Has a nice style and he actually reminds me of Tai a little. Very competitive. Good to see from a Brit, been a while since we’ve had this type of quality aside from Wofinden. High hopes for him.6 points

Again it has some relevance but a pub is an indoor facility with a single point of reference (the bar) and limited circulation space. Speedway stadia are outdoor spaces - potentially the bars and any behind glass hospitality could be a problem area. Berwick's Shielfield Park could be limited to 25 per cent of its capacity but that would still allow 1,200 or so into the stadium with 400 plus seats. Problem areas are likely to be the entrances, loos and food outlets. Potential solutions are one-way systems and effective stewarding. It would be nice to see people's commonsense come into the equation but better to plan for a lack of it. It would not be what people were used to pre-covid but - and supermarkets are an example - hundreds of people can gather in safety within an current environment that can be adapted with relative ease, albeit at some expense and requiring hard work and a will to make it happen.3 points

Lambert had so much speed that I actually think he runs off his line unintentionally as he quickly corrects it and turns right around the start line. Sadly it was too late before he made contact with Lebedevs. There is no way that Lambert has intentionally turned left and cut across him there.3 points

Lebedevs is all over the place in most of his races,he doesn’t seem to have any awareness of what’s going on round about him.Lambert rightly excluded though.2 points

Lambert completely at fault... intentional?! No.2 points

Not sure how ‘in the know’ or knowledgable Dickson is but I think this is just misleading blustering and wishful thinking. He’s in a dream or should I say a nightmare and talking nonsense. Live sport, including speedway, with spectators attending is way way off and certainly will not be in the next month or so. Even when it is allowed, which will not be until a vaccine treating the virus is found or the spread of the pandemic has drastically improved, and considering the age demographic of supporters, many will not attend as they will not feel comfortable in crowds and many will have got out of the habit of going to speedway. The economic situation is a complete disaster, the UK is now plunging into a deep recession, just look at the news every day, with lots of businesses collapsing or on the brink of going bust, millions being made redundant and joining the massive list of unemployed, I fear many speedway clubs will go to the wall. This is not doom and gloom but sadly reality!1 point

Good interview on BBC Radio Oxford this morning featuring Nik Budimir - the potential stadium developer whose intention is to make the stadium facility usable 24/7 and is asking the people of Oxford (Cowley) what other regular sports/activities they would like to see at the stadium in addition to the 2 core sports - speedway and greyhounds!! Karting, Cycle speedway were mentioned as well as indoor activities including conferencing, dance classes etc.1 point

Most of the shielded I've spoken too say they wouldn't go anywhere where there are lots of people, I certainly wouldn't.1 point

Rode for Edinburgh 1966 & '67. I only missed 1 meeting in '66 where he scored his first maximum & broke the Meadowbank track record .1 point

Just watched heat 15 of the Swindon / Rebels challenge from 2012. Darcy was playing with Andersen, how old was he ? , 20 or something. What a talent , what a loss to speedway. Stay strong Darcy you were something else mate.1 point

Probably due to the choice of scunthorpe being the only other option available in the current situation , and as far as I know Leicester has been available for hire seven days a week for quite a few years now. Obviously not available if any pre arranged event has filled the date already.1 point

Surely somebody is missing a trick here.... https://www.edinburghmonarchs.co.uk/shop/product/detail/2020-facemask As a Glasgow fan I couldn't wear a Monarchs one but I'd happily wear a Bandits one, as my adopted team for 2020!!1 point

Hi all I have listed some pre war autographs on eBay including Bluey Wilkinson, Jack and Corey Milne. Arthur Atkinson, Lammy Lamoreaux, Eric Collins Jack Pyman and many more https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/254632463352 for an example listing. I am still working through a bunch of programmes but will put up a. separate listing of what I have so far.1 point

Clarification re the fliers last night: Boss of referees, Leszek Demski clarified after the 1st round that riders may take the risk and if they get a perfect start (previously seen as a flyer) it is now not to be ruled as a false start. It's still forbidden to move before the tapes rise, but if the rider times it to perfection, it's not to be penalised. These are the rules from now, hence why some of you thought riders were getting fliers.1 point

To be honest I don’t think the commentator is doing a bad job of it. No complaints from me. However what isn’t acceptable is charging people to sign up to the channel to then miss heats out and programme not starting when it says it should. As you say it takes you back to the Eurosport days when you never actually knew whether you were actually going to see any speedway at all because they had cycling or tennis repeats on. At least 2 of the meetings so far have either missed a race or started late.1 point

Positive news. Still a lot of work to do of course, but getting speedway back into Oxford would be a major coup.1 point

David is my older brother, we are not related to Martin Ashby who did have a brother called David . My brother rode at Iwade, Peterborough and Hackney for the juniors. Did some grasstrack after finishing with speedway. Our Dad, Arthur, was a Chiswick Nomad as well as riding at Aldershot and Wimbledon. When he stopped racing he was mechanic to his good mate Barry Briggs for a while including, I believe, some of his world titles. After speedway he tried scrambling and grasstrack for many years but retired in the early 1970s when a broken scaphoid sustained in a grasstrack crash meant couldn't operate the throttle properly . Dad died about thirty minutes into New Year's Day this year at the age of 91.1 point
