  1. Someone who is always right and obsessed with stats......hmmm, who might that be?

  2. THE swathes of empty seats are cunningly hidden and not used because they have no view of the track over the safety fence, How can you possibly think the NSS is a better stadium than the Principality is beyond me and the noise and atmosphere, enclosed by the roof, is also something BV cannot match.

  3. I think you are right cant see greyhounds until later in the year anyway . all the dogs will have to be trialled again round the stadium race track . will be to late for speedway then I think Glasgow had the right idea wait until next year just my opinion of course

  7. That's because UK Martin does not go much if any more LR. But he does a lot of knocking of Birmingham and British speedway in general.

  10. It's live on you tube BTW at 16.00. Czech Government rules that only 150 spectators can attend

  11. Never understood this Cardiff is boring rhetoric. Missed only 1 Cardiff GP. In all the times I did attend I cant remember any that were boring. Racing can be better at other tracks of course but there is always drama, excitement and an unrivaled atmosphere.

  12. After a gap of 81 days since Scunny's Ben Fund event, the first (and so far only) meeting of the European season, speedway's back. Pardubice stage a Czech Championship meeting in front of a small crowd. Milik and Jan Kvech will be in Poland and one or two others are missing (such as Sam Simota) but it is close to a full strength field. Krcmar and Franc should be favourites.

  13. It is hard to understand how any speedway club hasn’t got the same issues clearly highlighted in the Glasgow promotion’s statement. Speedway barely attracts breakeven attendances on a warm sunny evening .... to suggest they will be able to attract breakeven attendances under current circumstances ain’t going to happen. Parents aren’t happy to let their kids go back to school, let alone go out for the evening to a speedway track. As for the more mature sections of society many of them are still reluctant to leave their homes to collect groceries, let alone go out for the evening at a speedway track. All understandable of course .... but doesn’t make Speedway in the UK likely in 2020. I don’t see any proposals from BSPA on spectator safety being promulgated to build confidence........pointless statements saying they are ready to start the season as soon as possible.....so how about each stadium to be assessed for maximum attendance to allow safe distancing. Pre booked online tickets for meetings .. no at the gate ticket sales each ticket has a bookable allotted arrival and departure time window with allocated seating/ standing area.... no wandering around the track permitted. face coverings must be worn at trackside Management of riders/ mechanics to follow polish ekstraliga rules. NO IDEA how you manage toilet facilities. Some tracks have toilets with very cramped facilities ( Eastbournebeing one I know) with no means of safe entry/exit without bumping into people. Sadly the decision making will be like that of rain offs ..... yes the season is definitely ON ON ON and then suddenly it will be OFF. ☹️☹️☹️

  15. Thoughtless idiots. It's one thing putting your own health at risk but how many others lives are they putting at risk too? Guess we can thank Demonic Cummings for making folk think everything is OK and lockdown is a waste of time.

  16. Wishful thinking. I doubt any speedway club will have the means to facilitate what will most likely be staggered arrival and departure, the means to cleanse facilities on site constantly etc and so on will likely be changed. I would assume most clubs will have to spend before they can have, even for speedway, a restricted crowd attend. A gathering in a stadium will be seen as a hell of a lot different to people gathering at a beach. When even football clubs in Scotland are talking about virtual season passes it’s time to let it go that people will be attending for a while. Speedway isn’t going to be bent over for just because few people go. Even ignoring all that it will reach a stage this year when riders will be asking what the point in racing is, a couple of open meetings? It’s a battle enough getting most to attend them during a regular season, it would cost most of them money to risk injury in a year when they have had no racing income.

  19. To be totally fair Dave, George would have answered to anything cos he just enjoyed the craic , he wasn't proud and could talk about anything to anyone no problem... didn't have a bad bone as the saying goes... Regards THJ

  20. Starts on a Saturday and then 4 Wednesday`s. We should get to know the field soon.

  21. Is it? Surely they should come to a decision together and come out with a statement regarding the season that applies to all clubs. What we will get, instead, is clubs dropping out one-by-one, which isn't a good way to present things.

  26. Apparantly, there were plenty of people at the last Cardiff GP who were thrilled to see him and actually welcomed him with open arms. Pathetic. and as JRS said, i am sure he is back on here under a new name somewhere. He spent his entire life on here , no way would he not be posting on here daily but posting on twitter everyday as if nothing ever happened. as for Garrity , id imagine no club will take him on now. The likes of lee , smart , lobb, ward etc had bans for stupid , braindead actions but none of them can be compared to Garrity and his actions.

  28. This meeting is too recent. What about showing some classic league action featuring Trick or Loram? The Poole v Coventry league meeting where Loram and Hamill are literally bashing into each other? The Cegeilski meeting wall of death v Coventry? What about Poole winning away? There’s enough to choose from.

  29. Well done sandman, I trust he's enjoying it. I did win £30 on Saturday, doubt that'll help get me to the Caribbean though

  30. Because in football and rugby you have 80 - 90 minutes of action to watch, in speedway you have about 15 minutes and around 90 minutes standing around doing nothing

  31. Ian turner, Kings Lynn 1969 to 1980. And although he rode for Boston in his last season in 1980 - they were kind of Kings Lynn's second team. Wasn't Rochdale a Belle Vue feeder team ?

  32. Unfortunately in these covid days and going forward, health and safety will be a big thing, ( THJ will probably be aware of the big ins and ous of this in his line of work) would the promotion/ volunteers be willing/know all about this ? Will it be worth the hassel for what may only be a season of 2 months if we are lucky. If all h+s is done would a crowd turn up to watch? If I were a promoter I would think the hassel for a short season would not be worth it, that's without the potential rider issue. I think hard as it is to think like this, I would abandon the season, re-group and focus on 2021, if they can afford to do it, as for many their business and sponsor's businesses may have taken a very big hit in these times. Sorry if this sounds bleak but IMO that's where the sport is. the above is taken from what I wrote on the Newcastle thread, think it applies to all speedway tracks/stadiums. i think once again Glasgow have been forward thinking in deciding to cancel 2020 season. I think they will be first of many making the same decision

  34. Most of the stadiums that have restricted viewing areas is because of safety issues that the closed part of the stadium is not fit to be used so unsure how easy its is going to be to get these areas open. Others such s Edinburgh and Newcastle just dont have the space.

  35. Banging this idiotic drum again are you? No event in the UK comes close to showcasing the sport in a better light that Cardiff does. NSS is a better race track, but that is only a small part of it. For starters you're ruling out 30,000 from attending.. smart business sense!

  38. I actually have Soldier Boy's autograph! I remember him at the Shay and he was always very vocal against Kenny Carter when he got chance. But fair play to Kenny Carter he used to come over to him and talk to him totally unfazed by his abuse. When I asked him for his autograph he was taken back and said "you know I'm not a rider right?" I'll see if I can find it.

  39. A full Belle Vue (which produces a great atmosphere if that's so important to you) or a Cardiff that has swathes of empty seats cunningly hidden by having no tv cameras fixed on it? I know which one would look better to the casual viewer
