  1. Imagine turning up for a league meeting and finding that the opposition were tracking Ivan Mauger at reserve, and he would be off a 10 yard start! Hard to believe, but it happened to Bees once - 18 Jul 1963, at Oxford. Result was a comfortable 44-34 win for Oxford, with Mauger top scoring with a 12 point maximum, and no.1 Ronnie Genz returning an 11 point tally. Top Bee was Ken McKinlay with 12 from five rides, beaten twice by Mauger. Mauger was beaten in the 2nd half by Nigel Boocock, who went on to win the Rider of the Night final.

  5. Steve, the greyhounds are not going to go pop, they will return in the autumn, probably October. in any case under the present economic climate the Council wouldn’t want the stadium back it would be a liability. Just hope British speedway as we know it survives this pandemic and we see League speedway at Poole next season.

  6. To be honest I am not sure how they are doing the production based upon current situation but on based upon how ExtraLiga was previously produced then yes it would be very easy to produce a clean feed it’s just another section on the vision mixer. Where there would be a cost is getting the pictures from the stadiums to broadcasters as unlike the UK Poland does not have a national fibre optic network for broadcast. So in the UK this would just mean sending two feeds down the connection to then be distributed by BT or NEP UK around the world to broadcasters. In Poland it would require another satellite channel and you pay per minute for that and is a more costly way of broadcasting but can easily be done so yes the declined request is likely to have been based upon a cost decision. Personally with the current situation and the lack of live motorsports I feel that the PZM and their media partners have missed a good opportunity here to sell to new markets. Broadcasters worldwide are desperate for professional live sport content now and I strongly believe countries that are motorsport mad that previously have shown no interest in Speedway like Italy,Spain,Germany etc would take the Polish league as long as it was priced reasonably.

  8. If only we had realised at the time, the amount of conniving & underhandedness the result of that final would cause .The shenanigans that followed had a huge impact on British Speedway, & not for the better I might add.

  9. It's still available for purchase from Roogames. http://www.roogames.co.uk/ You need a registration code to use the game. I have already created the 2019 and 2020 season lineups with 2019 final averages. I Only created two leagues. I am happy to share those. It would overwrite the data files that come with the version your purchase - but it wouldn't wipe out the historical data - just add 2019 and 2020 seasons

  10. Doesn't flying shale need to be registered/activated with a code? As I know you can download the demo here > http://www.roogames.co.uk/demos.htm

  11. Ha - good to know. This is why Flying Shale had it covered - with the check box designating a D2 Average/Rider. So you can have duplicates of riders.

  12. That is a feeble excuse - particularly as there were THREE separate photos! The Wimbledon team photo you posted wasn't the greatest quality, but it was certainly good enough for me to immediately identify the riders. Steve Hone's photo of Ronnie and Ivan was in no way an awful print, and everybody else identified them easily enough. Worse than that was the photo of Tommy Sweetman and Igor Plechanov. That was a large - and very clear - portrait, and you identified Tommy okay...

Their is lots to like about edinburgh i went 3 times last season when work aĺlowed, i admire the way and work of the promotion to keep the track open all these years with a little help from our promotion a few years ago, but watching the race nights from various tracks and edinburgh not the only one people pop up and go on and on and on my choice i dont dont like it, but am gratefull to watch the racing.last week i even kept the sound on for mr hunter last week.

  18. Does anyone else think that a number of Teams will seek to drop to National League for a few seasons just to keep going with much reduced costs. Be ironic if the league the Fuhrer tried to destroy became the one that saved a lot of Clubs in crisis. Not hard to see IOW, Mildenhall, Plymouth being joined by Kent (NL only); Brummies and Eastbourne (back to NL again); Newcastle ; Edinburgh , Redcar and may be even Poole and Somerset seek that level for 1-2 seasons to keep going as better option than closing.

  19. He was in a Middlesbrough jail in about 2004 and on release was sought by many teams, including Newcastle. They were all after him with his performances on the Sheffield training track before he got put away.

  21. The coronavirus ending to the Southern League South Division season was catastrophic for Poole Town FC because the relentless rain during the autumn & winter making their current home too boggy (plus a decent run in the FA Cup qualifying rounds before that) meant they played just 9 home league games for crowd-income in the 7 pre-coronavirus months of the season while keeping their away league schedule more than up-to-date by playing 18 of those with all the costs that entails (the travelling in their division stretches from Truro in Cornwall to Surrey & West London) !! Incredibly, thanks to the 3rd most away-points in their league, they were only 7 points off a play-off place when the season was declared coronvirus-void with at least 2 games in hand on everyone above them plus a crazy run-in (all to be squeezed into 7 weekend and 6 midweeks) of 12 home games & only 3 aways !! They were appealing for their fans to prop up their away-funding even well before the virus struck so they're utterly skint and with no clue yet when they can start having a crowd pitchside for their 2020-21 season.

  25. I have tweaked the update a little, a few more "EL" transfer listed now have a "PL" average. Slight quirk in the game means that some riders with an 6.01+ EL average, it doesn't display their PL average, but there is also quite a few exceptions to this so who knows what is programmed there.. The new rider database file is uploaded here, and have updated the link from my previous post - https://www.dropbox.com/s/jxxywvs6cwn479r/Speedway Promoter 2020 Update.7z?dl=0 Also have uploaded the spreadsheet I used to assist with updating the riders. It has the full list of riders available in the game with filters etc. Might be helpful for people wanting to tweak it themselves - https://www.dropbox.com/s/6drtpzlycb23qu9/Speedway Promoter UPDATE.xlsx?dl=0

  27. Watching clips of football from the past decade or so, there is also a huge amount of players who just seem to have 'dissapeared', with many teams having wholesale changes in squads in around just five years or so.. My lad is in a League One U17 youth team and the competition for places is incredible at that level with young lads coming through all the time trying to get into that first team, and experienced players dropping down into it from the two divisions above... Often the players dropping down have been replaced by either purchased foreign imports, or foreign imports who have been at the clubs from eleven years old, such is the huge 'trawler net' used these days by the leading clubs.. At my lads club, only three players in the first team squad have been there over three years, with many ending up non league and working full time when their contract ends, as the next batch of younger lads have come through to replace them, or better players from the leagues above have dropped in, desperate to remain a pro and try and get back up the levels.. For the vast majority of pro footballers their 'shelf life' is nowadays shorter than ever given supply well exceeds demand...

  28. I have only just seen this. Sverre was my idol when I was a kid, he was a class act, cruelly cut down by that serious injury, he would definately have become world champ otherwise. I remember the many fantastic battles between him and Briggo at Custom House, worth the entrance money on it's own (9d for me then!!). I also remember a story about Ove Fundin trying one of his bikes, must have been in 1966 or 67, he did a few laps then stopped, he said that it was too fast for him. He used to drive around in his souped up Triumph Spitfire I think it was, with the bike hanging off the back. We were going up the M1 on the West Ham Coach oncew we were doing about 70, he pulled up alongside us, gave us all a wave, then changed down a geer and zoomed off into the distance. What a great rider, I have just ordered my copy of the magazine, can't wait to read it.
