Afternoon Just a word to the wise about a friend of mine called Dave (cough cough) Dave's wife treat him to a night out for a special birthday by taking him to a lap dancing club. When they arrived the Doorman said "Okay Dave how's tricks?" His wife asked "how does he know you?" Dave says "oh er I play footy with him" Inside the barman says "usual Dave?" Dave turns to the wife and says "before you ask or say anything he's on the darts team at my local okay" Next a lap dancer walks straight up to him and says "hi Dave do you want the special again?" and the wife storms out and grabs him by the collar dragging him out with her and jumps into a taxi" Taxi driver says "Jesus Dave you've pulled a right minger this week" True Story That!!! Be safe; keep well and look after yourself Regards THJ4 points

What an insightful post that you have randomly hand picked. I assume you yourself have done your homework on the virus versus generally expected expectations? You do know that on average over a thousand people die on any given day in the UK? (It was 1400 in 2019 btw) You do know that an average of 17,000 die every year from flu in the UK with a high of over 28,000 in 2014/15 and a low of just under 1700 in 2019? Published by Public Health England btw. Those figures may suggest the high figures was before the current vaccine was successful. There are lots of stats out there if you want to educate yourself. I’m assuming you have done the same. Covid19 still has “flu like symptoms” and no one can deny the severity of the virus. Nearly 80,000 have had and recovered from the virus to put the risk factor into context. Its a serious virus that NO ONE should take lightly anymore. And lockdown is now the only way of slowing it. Until they find a vaccine this will still be a killer. Just like SARS and Flu before it. Id love to hear your take on the stats and information shared and those you have clearly seen yourself. Replies without personal insults would be appreciated.2 points

Interesting analogy: "We respect the fact that the above hasn’t been caused by everyone issued with a blue badge, and we do also know and understand this decision affects everyone that will attend our race meetings that are issued with a blue badge." peterborough-speedway 28/1/20 Piers Morgan@piersmorgan (6/4/20): "We shouldn't ban people from exercising, because that would punish those heeding the rules. We should ban morons who ignore the rules to go out partying or sunbathing - from receiving any NHS treatment if they get the virus.1 point

Looks like someone out to try and cash in on the 50th year of comets, would leave well alone if they can't even get the basics correct1 point

One problem is that the YouTube clips from Speedway Portal are largely behind the scenes coverage rather than mracing, except for their coverage of the Isle of Wight. They are putting a lot of effort but rights can be such an obstacle. A regular supply of past racing from the Oaktree Arena would give quite a 'lift' in these troubled times.1 point

I'm really enjoying these videos and it is great to see what an excellent job is being achieved by EMTV. Mike's commentaries are always a superb 'listen'. You're doing a great job and it's a great comfort to know I can see a couple of excellent second tier meetings a week during this horrible situation. Thank you, Monarchs. (that's me banned from Ashfield......)1 point

Fixed race nights only give priority. You can race any night you like, but bear the consequences if your riders have other league's priority commitments.1 point

Thanks again. Proper derby stuff, even if dangerous; but there aren't the characters ( and they had to be bad, in a nice way, like Jack Millen ) about nowadays to get the crowds in.1 point

Request to the Somerset promotion, any chance of putting the video of a previous match on here we can enjoy, as other teams have done. I would like to suggest maybe one a week from previous years to give us a bit of Somerset speedway during these difficult times. Thanks.1 point

Maybe they should do a coupon so £18 to attend the first meeting, £16 for the second, £14 and then £12. Discount only works if you have been to meeting one it would mean ppl have to go each time So meeting one £18 Two £16 Three £14 Four £12 Five £12 Six £12 Seven £12 And so on... If you miss the sequence you restart but if you're savvy you buy a friend a ticket1 point

Nicely put, logical argument. Couldn't even be bothered to follow the comments past the first few pages. It's a forum where people give their opinions, you don't have to agree, if you had half a brain you could make a sensible argument. However you find it easier to just rock up, read a few pages and abuse people. Only embarrassing thing about this is being called names by a complete w&nker like yourself1 point

Wimbledon tennis cancelled July edinburgh festival normally held for the whole of August.. cancelled schools might reopen in september odds are more likely that no Speedway league in 20201 point

If Poland gets green light and races every night, why shouldn't UK.??? British Clubs and specifically British riders need to earn. If a few Brits and some overseas riders have to decide, that's up to them their choice. If UK shuts down due to Poles many UK Clubs would not reopen. If any UK Clubs do close and seems likely some will if we are not racing by August, it'll be vad enough, without just lying down and letting Poland ride all over us. Their model is frighteningly like PL soccer, and probably more at risk from Global economic crash than UK is1 point
