Calm down dear! And remove that chip from your shoulder while you’re at it. Young Polish riders have always had the best kit, that’s just the way it is and stands to reason with the finances that speedway over there has, the best ones are heavily subsidised by the clubs/authorities and U21 success is demanded. That’s said without bitterness or jealousy, it’s just how it works. As said we’ll see over the next five, ten, fifteen years who turns out to be the best of the current crop. As things stand U21 results and averages don’t lie but everyone knows what a tough year Robert had and that has to be a factor. Pretty sure he will come back stronger.4 points

I was taken to the 58, 59, 60, 62, 63, 65 and 67 Wembley finals with the 59 win by my hero Ronnie Moore being my favourite. My mother loved the 62 final as Peter Craven who she adored won. I had not wanted to go in 62 as the Spedeworth F2 World Final was at our local Wimbledon but I had to wait until the second meeting to see the Spedeworth cars. By 1969 I was deemed old enough to go by myself to the Superstox (as the Spedeworth F2's had become) World Final at Wimbledon while my parents went to Wembley for the Speedway and my mother was very unhappy when she got home and found that her Stock Car hero, Alan Wardropper, had won the Superstox crown! Sadly she never saw him race with the Gold roof as he went to South Africa for a winter tour and retired from racing before he returned to this country. The Wembley atmosphere was, as many have said, magic. But then Wimbledon with a full house for either Speedway or Stock Cars also had that magic feeling and so did many other tracks. An empty stadium will never get that feeling even if the racing is wonderful.2 points

I went to Norden in 1983 and was sworn to secrecy regarding Oxford's contractural negotiations with Hans Nielsen and had to refrain from cheering him on (although I couldn't resist giving him a cheer, however, when he was the only rider to lead Egon Muller before dropping a chain). I was kind of hoping for an English Champion but Kenny Carter flattered to decieve again instead of which Michael Lee became the highest place Englishman gaining a rostrum place.2 points

Sorry to cause you so much pain reading 3 comments about another club . My Apologies but i was only responding to a comment posted on this thread . The attitude and narrow mindedness of speedway fans is partly the reason the sport is in disarray . Imagine not even having the capability to let a conversation deviate .2 points

In amidst all that is going on, I wondered what the chances were of the new issue having been sent to the printers prior to everything snarling up? Might we be lucky enough to have it pop through our letterboxes whilst the postmen are still delivering? Any chance you can give us some good news Tony?!1 point

No a think you are right I deffo don't think we were favourites for the wooden spoon either. .. At home we would have put a few of the so called top teams to the sword.... Right this Star Wars movie is doing my nut in av seen it that many times a could star in it...So how about a bit of mischief... just to stir it up a bit... rather than your favourite 7 Diamonds how about your 7 riders you wouldn't want to see riding for Newcastle... 1. Eddie Kennett 2. Gary Havelock 3. Josh Auty 4. Adam Roynon 5. Jordan Frampton 6. Gary Flint 7. Danny Phillips Not thst any of them were bad riders per sey (cough cough) they just didn't seem to perform at Brough... and we once went after Kennett would you believe... Now light blue touch paper and stand well back... May the force be with you... Regards THJ1 point

We could have been awful, but don't think we would have been 'wooden spoon' winners,,, would have put money on us not being,,, suppose this crisis might have saved me a few quid tho1 point

Aye me too buddy.... we could have been awful to be fair but I prefer to look on the brighter side and after the sledging that Worky team got 2018 and then won the lot anything is possible... Regards THJ1 point

If tonight's session is a success it is hoped to show more meetings, and care will be taken to avoid clashes if at all possible.1 point

Likely they will step up their efforts, as they often, try to use the fear factor. I have my own way of dealing with them, as follows: Upon realising a call is a scam, I remain calm, and pretend to be in need, of, and grateful for their help. I then say I need a few seconds, to do something, quick, but urgent (turn the bath taps off, turn chip pan off). I then put, phone down, do not end call, and waste their time, while they are waiting for me to return (which I will not do). I once got some scammer calling me back, about 4 times, thinking he had conned me, before he realised, I was conning him.1 point

The reason it stands out for me is because I went to college in Norwich and I persuaded some of my college friends (most of whom had never heard of speedway let alone seen it!) to come and cheer on Ove. I have to say I didn't hold out much hope as he was past his best by then. It served to enhance my reputation as College's speedway expert!1 point

I never said they WEREN'T special. Or at least, they COULD be special. Again, looking at it from an event point of view, we were spoiled by Wembley. It seems to be a case of fans looking for different things from speedway. Do you want to go to Wembley with 93,000 others, and experience a poor meeting with maybe one or two decent races, but a fantastic atmosphere. Or do you want to see an incredible GP with breathtaking racing at Wroclaw. Do you want to see a competitive meeting with AT LEAST 12 of the Top 15 riders in the world, or a meeting which was never designed (post-war, anyway) to field the world's best, and was usually missing one or two of the expected front-runners? Nothing is - or ever was - perfect. Yes, I miss the good ol' days. I miss the gleaming chrome and black leathers. I miss Wembley, Wimbledon, and Belle Vue. I miss Moore, Briggs, and Boocock. But you know, it wasn't ALL great. It never will be ALL great. Life changes, and we change. However, speedway can still be the most fantastic sport in the world - if you just sit down and watch the racing...1 point

Agreed. I was at Cardiff in 2014. I have no intention of going again. I really do miss Wembley World Finals.1 point

But Lambert is a great bike handler for his age (much better than Doyle at that age) and Sidney can see that and I agree. With a bit more physical and mental application and money for equipment Lambert could be a world champion at some point. At the moment he’s a bit like Tai Woffinden in his first GP year. I’m guessing that he has less financial backing than Drabik and Smektala?1 point

i take it is on the same day (27th)as the peterborough v newcastle meeting , but one @ 7pm and the other @ 7.30pm . was it not poss to have one of the meetings the following day . not moaning like . peterbough gets my voting viewing tho ..1 point

Sidney doesn't care about things like averages, Drabik, Smektala, Chugunov and Kubera are all ahead the first three are a decent way ahead based on last year1 point

Attending a World Final, not knowing at the start who was going to win, seeing it all unfold, and the new World Champion being crowned. Those feelings, emotions, have all been lost, thanks to OOFC and its successors. Yes, there are good GPs, some great meetings, but they’re not much different from any other good or great individual meetings. World Final night can never be replicated - they were SPECIAL.1 point

I was lucky to go to: 1983 Norden - fun trip with chequers travel, but an underwhelming final 1985 Bradford - produced some good racing, Gundersen taking Moran and King was one of the great world final rides 1987 Amsterdam - fun trip, but again an underwhelming final 1990 Bradford - great night time atmosphere and the racing was worthy of the occasion 1992 Wroclaw - still an iron curtain feel about the place, stayed in Berlin and had a great trip. The racing was nothing special. Thing I remember most is the mouthy Yorkshire man on the coach who became unbearable after Havelock won! Still, there were a few good humoured Cradley and Wolves fans who were a good laugh.1 point

I am a UD Almería season ticket holder and we still have 6 home games to be played! Will these games be played? If not will I get a refund? Who cares? People are dying, people are very ill......there are far too many serious matters to address, rather than speculating about refunds!1 point

The temporary stands have voids on the step risers . these have all had steel plates cut and fixed to cover voids . they also have a anti slip rubber matting on which have also had to be replaced. damaged nosing replaced with new . While not huge costs granted still a cost for no return .1 point

Lots of work on Pits and Riders Car Park, lot of painting and cleaning of kick boards and replaced and cleaned various bits of air fence. Also some replacement of the temporary stands on first turn to meet new safety requirements with regular working groups most weekends. I think Peter and David own Cleaning Contract Company covering London and South East where they are based.1 point

I would like to mourn the passing of Stars superfan and season ticket holder - David Mckuen, who passed away last week after a short illness. David was devoted to the Stars and attended every year since they opened ( and also the Linnets football team ). He was a kind and generous man who went out of his way to give me a lift to Stars matches. If you knew him on the first bend terraces, join me in a There You Go friend salute. R.I.P. David. God Bless.1 point

Talking about essential supplies, i work in the paint industry (Dulux paint) and we have to keep working because apparently we're classed as one of the essential jobs! I fill paint tins for christ sake so hardly a key worker who has to still attend work.1 point

BT and Sky may not be under any legal obligation to cancel subscriptions for anyone under contract. However, they should remember that these contracts do not last forever, and how they treat us now could affect how much business they have in the future.1 point
