  1. I'm stund with the amount of Speedway fans in meltdown at the thought of 2020 not even happening. It is very very highly likely Speedway will not resume until 2021 minimum. Get used to it, wind ya necks in & get a sense of reality of what's going on around the world.

  2. Giving some of the scenes at supermarkets up and down the Country on social media its clear the advice on staying indoors and avoiding crowds is being largely ignored. That will leave the Government little option the call a lock down with the closure of non-essential shops. On a personal level I have continued to work, I work in the food manufacturing and distribution, even if we do go to lock down I guess that will continue.

  4. My son won't let me out the house. Both my wife (his mum) and my son (his brother) have died within the last two years and he doesn't want me to take any chances as he doesn't want to lose me as well. So, since last Tuesday I have just stayed at home. It's already driving me mad! Another three months - aaaarrrggghhhh!!!!! Anyway, he is just about to come round with a food parcel - my first since I have been in lockdown. He says he will leave it outside the front door. I hope it's got crumpets in it.....

  7. BT and Sky may not be under any legal obligation to cancel subscriptions for anyone under contract. However, they should remember that these contracts do not last forever, and how they treat us now could affect how much business they have in the future.

  8. What is it with the lack of crumpets? It's not as if people can stock pile them...defies logic to me but I've given up trying to get into the minds of the masses (not that I want to even go there in fear of what I might find!)

  9. I live in Spain, and we have been in lockdown for a week now. The State of Alarm measures (amongst others) dictate the following: Leaving your home is limited to the following activities: buying food, going to the pharmacy or bank. Travelling between your workplace and place of residence. Taking care of children, the elderly and other especially vulnerable people. These activities are to be done alone, except when accompanying people with disabilities or for another justified reason. Vehicles cannot be shared, except for justified reasons. In this case, the passenger must sit at the rear of the car and both occupants of the vehicle must wear a mask. Pizzerias, hamburger joints, etc., must be closed to the public, and only home delivery is accepted. Petrol Stations may remain open to the public, however, the shops must be closed, as well as the cafeteria and bathroom, except for the use of lorry drivers, bus drivers, ambulances etc. All bars and restaurants must be closed. However, home delivery is permitted under the same conditions as fast-food businesses. Supermarkets, food shops, pharmacies, medical centres, opticians, orthopaedic centres, hygiene and cleaning product shops, press and stationery shops, tobacconists, telephone shops, pet shops for food only, dry cleaners and laundries may be open. Health security measures must be followed at all times. Law enforcement bodies may request documentation and proof for such presence on public roads, such as supermarket tickets, prescriptions, etc. In addition, pedestrians may be asked for their identification and sanctioned for repetitive, invalid and dishonest behaviour. My guess is the UK is around 10 days away from similar measures being introduced. As current experience is showing asking people to follow guidelines isn't working, so if the UK is serious about beating this thing. then far more prescriptive/draconian measures are needed!

  10. Influenza has no cure. Otherwise it wouldn't kill between 250,000 and 600,000 every year. I'm not belittling Covid-19. I'm simply pointing out, if the media hyped up the amount that die from different strains of influenza, we'd be locked down every flu season.

  11. Great to see more sponsor logos being added to the club website despite everything else going on!!

  12. He is what 21/22 and has achieved a lot in his career already. I can’t believe anyone would say he has reached his peak. So long as he takes the chances offered to him and makes the most of trying to break thru in the Polish league I’d like to think there is plenty more to come. The trouble being of course is that he has been thrust onto the world stage pretty early in his career so that’s always going to be hard to top. I see no reason why he won’t continue growing as a sportsperson.

  18. I've been wondering how many people might just decide not to reactivate their sports subscriptions when this is eventually over , some might just decide they can live without it

  19. Lambert is awesome round the NSS, I would go as far to say he is a match for anyone there, if he could take his NSS form into the GP'S then I would say he could be a top 8 rider on a regular basis. But and this is massive, any world champ needs to be able to gate regularly. And there lies his problem. PS I can't believe you have put Lidsey (who I rate highly) before our own Dan Bewley (who I rate higher.)

  20. Good luck norbold...I'm having to monitor my mother's movements and it's going to be very stressful for both of us.

  21. Yes I'm sure we will be seeing massive moves in the way that you have suggested. I'm due my weekly shop tomorrow and I'm not looking forward to it!

  22. World Champion before he is 30! brave words, hope you are right, as I am English through and through, but after Robert's impeccable 2018 he some what lost his way before his accidents etc. My big concern was how easily he was moved out of the way especially on first turns. Having watched speedway from 68 I have seen many a rider when they mature towards the end of their career will back off in tight situations (understandably) my concern is Robert last year at 21 just not showing how hard you have to be to progress. On another note I believe POTENTIALY Drew Kemp has a massive future and could be our next English hope, that is why I have put a serious amount of money into him this year, only this morning a new PJR engine for collection next week

  23. Sorry to read this news. Just like The Doctor, I remember Mark from the speedway mailing list years ago. RIP

  24. Doing too much riding in 2019 ( even for a young gun who lives, eats and breathes speedway ) and having at least two injuries to carry, defintely took the edge off Robert's riding last season. There is no doubt in my mind that he will return to the glorious form of 2018 before long. He is destined for the very top and will be World Champion before he is 30 ( so plenty of time! )

  26. Nothing changes for me work wise still doing 12/13 hour nights, horses still need looking after so that's most of my morning done. Converting a Norton Commando for flat track so that takes up the rest of my time and if I finish that I've the Ariel I used last year to convert to a green lane bike. If I run out of things that need doing this will have gone on for a very, very long time!

  32. Many riders reach their peak after passing 30 nowadays. So Robert Lambert has plenty of time
    1 point
  33. He’s still very young, he seems older as he started in our Elite League at sixteen but there is every chance he hasn’t reached his peak. After an excellent 2018 a slow start and then two huge crashes prevented him kicking on further but it would be silly to rule him out of one day being a GP rider.

  34. Woffinden is a fine example of showing what can be done after regrouping ,then putting total dedication into practice along with his natural ability.Lambert is a fine rider a superb rider technically and has not reached his level or peak yet people often forget what he has achieved already and is still a young man.

  35. I've invited the Monster Girl to come and sit the next 3-months or so out, but strangely, I've not had a reply yet. For a serious answer, staying indoors for the most time, wandering round the garden, and taking a drive to the cliff tops along our coast, but not getting out of the car. I do have to take my wife to hospital for chemo still though. Let's hope we all stay safe.

  37. Refreshing to see a promotion take time to explain everything - as oppose to just copy and pasting the BSPA's post.

  38. All the doom and gloom merchants have their opinion yet again, rumour after rumour about Niki if the supporters put as half as much effort in to the speedway club as the promotion have over the last few years and especially last winter they would do well, instead of finding fault with everything at the club and starting falsehoods off about who is riding at Sheffield and for how long. Its time now to get behind the club not slag everything off
