It didn't take long. I looked it up several years ago, when they were doing the initial selling, and I'm pretty sure I did post it at the time. Do you have an attitude problem in real life or is it just on the internet?3 points

I did hear there was consideration to rename the Rockets after their move out of Rayleigh "Herts County Rockets" on the basis that nobody had heard of Rye House. Must be the same logic that forced Stoke to race as Chesterton the previous season. Anyway, Arlington is nowhere nea\r Eastbourne, Armadale nowhere near Edinburgh, High Edge nowhere near Buxton (already dealt with).Brandon is not in Coventry, West Row is not in Mildenhall. Reverting to your point about the Hammers, how about similarly Kent? Where on earth was Trelawney? ;-) What IS in a name as long as riders get to ride and supporters get to watch. I know I've still got the Rockets racing at Rye House, or will have soon but it would warm my cooling heart to spend one night, even for just half a dozen heats cheering on a team called Rayleigh, no matter who was riding for them, at whatever level. You never forget your first love, eh? Yes it would be meaningless but in a world with famine, war and a rising tide of intolerance and ignorance, isn't all sport, just a bit of fun, or should be? One of legendary football manager Bill Shankly's few mistakes was to say of his sport "It's not a matter of life or death, it's more important than that". No.2 points

There’ll be even less noise this season while we have a minute’s silence before each match for ...... Poole.2 points

Its usual meaning. It's too far away from many people in positions of authority to notice it. Having said that NJL was being staged at Scunthorpe. One benefit of being 'distant' is the ability just to get on with things without interference.2 points

Maybe not but my point still stands, the overall cost increase would not be excessive, particularly if the extra rides are replacing a 1-5 rider and not the other reserve.2 points

People saying he's not a good manager. Why not give the bloke a chance or even more see how the team performs because if they are not good then who will the fans turn on Grant and the rest of the people involved ?as Jason wasn't there when the new team was picked.2 points

It's not baffling at all, it's completely natural to develop an affinity with the team you pay to watch every week.2 points

Theo came to Berwick in 2018 halfway through the season, and thanks to his performances Berwick ended up 5th just missing out on playoffs by 1 point. Replacing Danny was never going to be easy as Danny was a one-off great rider, character, showman. Hopefully, Theo will do a good job and Scunthorpe have a good season.2 points

Yes I was there. A nice 3 hour train journey from Hamburg Haupbahnhof from what I remember. And I seem to have been the only person to take a colour photo of Mike Patrick in his now infamous chequed trousers to prove it. I went there under my own steam, and my views are as equally independent as my mode of transport. All this bleating about how some "unknown" German who dared to win it instead of our favourite British league stars, jeeeezzz...you're as bad as Forest Trump banging on about a South Korean film with subtitles winning the Oscar for best movie.1 point

I suspect that there there are some fans unaware of this situation who will probably do the same.1 point

Rather irrelevant as it doesn't make a regressive uncaring decision any better. The disabled generally have a pretty hard time with often not too much to look forward to so they'll often go the extra mile, however difficult, for something that they enjoy watching if not getting to and from. Then responsible organisations make further reasonable adjustments to make their customers/visitors visits more pleasurable, they don't remove long term concessions without trying to fix any problems or giving a better explanation than what we've had from Panthers management. It's not an experiment for them to justify their backward step.1 point

I like a rumble as much as the next man here, but that's not necessary Rmc - The bloke asked a civil question of which i'd probably guess that in real terms maybe it will only stop a handful of bb holders, but its certainly a handful that speedway can ill afford to lose for such a bonkers reason. And it'll put off away bb holders aswell every week at various times i would think. Re disability is someone elses's problem etc.. harsh if thats aimed at folk on here, i don't have a disability and haven't been to Peterborough since the 4s final in 1992 but i'm very much in the camp that this is as much my problem as someone with a disability who needs the close parking.1 point

Thank you for an excellent summary. I've just had my reassessment at the hands of a paramedic. The whole thing, beyond the 20m rule is so very subjective. You get points allocated for example on how easily you can prepare and cook a meal. The assessor asks you questions then gives you a score out of 8. It was worrying that I might lose my benefit (the first and only I've claimed in 40 years) and/or my Motability car which would leave me pretty well housebound. Struggling to get the 20 feet from the interview room to the front door of the office block I think contributed to 12/12 on that point. Reverting to the Showground, I know how far it used to be from car park to stand at Alwalton and know the pain I would suffer in covering such a distance now so the chances of me going there were poor even before this latest staggering decision on blue badges. Yes, some people abuse them, yes it is questionable whether some should have them but for many of us they are a lifesaver. There's plenty of other speedway tracks. There's plenty of other sports........ There are plenty of other interests run by people who have heard of the Disability Discrimination Act..... What's pathetic is that a sport that needs every supporter it can find is allowing one track to effectively turn many away. All I want to do is watch some live speedway. I've put a lot of effort into trying to help the sport over the years. A bit of consideration now would be a pleasant but not expected surprise. Having said that, there's the guy who stands near the turnstiles at one track, looking out for people like me who might need a little help and steps in if they're struggling. I'm ashamed to say I've forgotten his name :-( Ironically he's a Scunthorpe supporter......1 point

Fair play, many would dream of making such a video with their loved one. Great memories for them to look back on. I hardly think they were expecting 'critical acclaim'. In a world full of doom and gloom and negativity, nice to see something positive.1 point

Just done a bit more research because my memory is vague, after all we are going back 50+ years ago. In 1964 the Provincial League operated outside of Speedway Control Board authority following a major dispute over how Speedway should be run. The controversy was brought about by the refusal of Wolverhampton to move up to the National League, which only had six teams at the time, after winning the Provincial League title in 1963. This caused a split between the leagues, and the Provincial League was outlawed by the Speedway Control Board and all National League riders were forbidden to ride on Provincial tracks. Provincial League riders were warned by the Speedway Control board that they were in breach of ACU regulations and could be suspended from all competitive racing. They were also barred from the World Speedway Championship. The Provincial League objected and went black the 1964 season, racing under their own rules and arbitrator, and appointing their own officials and referees.[1] An enquiry was held that year set up by the Royal Automobile Club (RAC) and chaired by Lord Shawcross who decided that the SCB was acting illegally. He recommended that the SCB be re-formed with a new Secretary/Manager and a new Chairman appointed from the RAC. During the winter of 1964/65, meetings were held between the promoters of the two leagues and the SCB led to a reconciliation between the two bodies and the merger of the two leagues leading to the establishment of a single 18 team British League for the 1965 season. This reorganisation also led to the formation of the British Speedway Promoters Association.1 point

I think once he settles in he will be within a hairs breadth of being as fast as ever out on his own but a little less likely to take big chances for a point and probably less forceful in the first corner. He will consistently gate most of the riders he comes up against though so I would expect his average to be about a point short of Pedersen and put him up near the leagues top guys. What he loses in aggression I would expect him to gain most of back in consistency at our league level. Very different from trying to win in Poland or the GP's.1 point

Went to Wroclaw vs Czestochowa last year, was told it was sold out although there were a few gaps in the crowd.. Would definitely buy a ticket beforehand, paid 65 Zlotys, about £13..1 point

People still buy houses near major Airports. A speedway meeting typically last about 2 hours, roughly in those 2 hours there is 10 mins warm up in the pits 30 mins rider announcement and music 2 mins pit to gate inc gardening 15 mins racing. So in a typical Speedway meeting there is less than 1 hour of interrupted noise once a week/fortnight. Not a lot of noise really is there.1 point

Echoed here! I too rode a motorbike all over the UK for many years to watch speedway. Based in Northmapton I was a regualr at Lynn, Coventry, Sheffield, White City etc No lure now for me. Three KL matches last season. Wish I could get over to Peterborough from time to time, but not pulled powerfully there either.1 point

Nothing like one of those, all to rare these days. When Crump was at Saddlebow he always had the track set up for him, the other 6 didn’t have any say. Like it or lump.1 point

Tickets go on sale normally about 2 weeks before the league fixtures- as it`s week 1 that might stretch to 3 weeks. I would suggest you create an account here https://bilety.wts.pl/ (if you haven`t got one already) so you can buy as soon as they go on sale.1 point

Clearly management have a far better understanding of the problems of Blue Badge holders than even the badge holders themselves as they now feel that they are more than capable of walking 4/5 times the distance required to qualify. "Take up thy bed and walk" must be the latest buzz phrase. I am expecting that messrs Johnson, Pratt& Chapman to embark on the same walk, together with referee, visiting promoter etc.IE all but riders vans not being allowed inside the stadium1 point

Its not only the NL that needs to breakaway from the BSPA, however as a minimum the League needs to make its own decisions not have them forced upon them by an organisation that has an entirely different agenda to the NL.1 point

Any chance of the Stars being crowned Champions need to be put on hold again, for another years at least. Strange how other teams can pull out the stops to acquire certain riders when we always seems to take the easy options. Being a speedway supporter rather then one specific team fan, I imagine I will go the showground more this year than I would normally. Looking at their six riders led by our old boss-man Rob Lyons , they sure have a better quality about them than Stars do.... Coupled with an exciting track, hard earnt money would be better spent watching thrilling races, than the usual 'follow the leader' stuff served up at Lynn....1 point

Not sure why Aspgren never came back, as he was quality. Presumably as you say flights and costs etc. What about Bellego? Absolute mustard at the OTA, there is few better!1 point

I'm not holding my breath there. I'm still pretty stunned at the pulling of the petition off the back of one conversation with zero details whatsoever made public. After all that fuss aswell. Sadly sums up things over the years in speedway - those on the inside are quite happy to clam up when pushed for details from the paying public.1 point

The truth is out there. The Prem clubs step in to save the day (after the destruction of the current development league) by running a second half division for "local young riders" to enable them to develop and hone their skills before finding there is no team place for them as they are all filled with overseas riders and fading GP stars.1 point

Just call it the LHH Supporters Stand with LHH banners up either side of the plaque. Seems simple to me, a true supporter surely wouldn't want to be seen to stand in the way of sponsorship income to the club1 point

Where does it say that their banner is going to cover up your plaque. Surely, given the length of that straight, it is big enough to accommodate both. Or is one of you looking for a fight.1 point

They didn't drop Harris,,, so I doubt they would drop Crump. Personally I've always wanted Crump as a witch,,, okay possibly too late,,,, but what's the saying,,, form is temporary, class is permanent. If he could be 80 percent of his former self, thats good enough for this league1 point

I`m sorry, that wasnt my intention. I saw this image yesterday and wanted to post it then. IMO its powerful, poignant and worth a thousand words. A fantastic tribute to Danny.1 point
