  1. Surely they're not referring to Colin North's death as some kind of justification for this are they ? Incredibly bad taste if so.

  2. Jedd List was signed on the recommendation that he could gate & that he looked comfortable on a bike. We knew he was raw & had only used a 500cc engine some 8 months prior. Unfortunately, he was found out to be not the gater we expected & was regularly beaten into the 1st corner then unable to pass. He wasn't ready & this was explained to Jedd & his dad, who was over here with him, & they both took the news well. They hung around having practices at a few venues & even though people said he looked good, practice & racing are at 2 different levels.

  3. It’s laughable - then read the Admission Details Page! It includes VIP Option which has various extras including: PARKING (doesn’t say where exactly but I think we can all guess where that will be) PIT WALK CENTRE VISIT further down is an item listed as OTHER RACE DAY OPPORTUNITIES which includes - Visit to the Centre Green £5 for 2 Heats. If if they are deadly SERIOUS about Health & Safety I believe these two items should also be scrapped as I can’t think of anything more dangerous than walking through the Pits with trucks, bikes, tractors etc. etc. moving about - you just can’t be too careful!

  8. People are moaning due to the total and utter disgrace of the betrayal of BB holders. The signing of Iversen if it happens will not make up for this self inflicted debacle.

  9. Hopefully there's a chance we can see Nicki P riding in the 90th anniversary meeting saying as he's riding for Sheffield. Wouldn't mind seeing Josh Pickering either he's always good entertainment around brough.

  10. Both are well worth visiting. Been there many times. There is a particularly good information board in the Museum, explaining "The Start of it All".

  11. Maybe they should have cut the crap and seed Poole straight to the final .. ...or why not just give them the trophy.

  12. Well I did hear some time ago a rumour that Pete Sampson and Martin Hagon wanted to run Rye House in the NL, but alas the AGM came and went and nothing was said, I hope either those two or someone else who is passionate about getting a club back will take on the challenge, for me living in Chelmsford a weekend (Saturday night) would be much better than a week night, especially Friday, traffic is just crazy and I am not even talking about the M25, the M11 and A414 is more than capable of causing enough mayhem on their own. I would certainly support Second division racing at Rye even though Arena Essex is technically my team.

  13. If the other events are in the exhibition hall that is a lot nearer the parking area than the Speedway track is. Also buggy transport might be provided by the other event organisers.

  14. Is this not a wider issue though with the Showground as a whole? Surely if the designated disabled parking spaces are used for every event there then blue badge holders are being shafted every time the place opens its doors. The bottom line is that for speedway the EoES has acres of room to park people with mobility issues much, much closer to the track and the main stand and there must be some way of doing it while weeding out the mickey takers and stopping people from parking where they shouldn’t.

  15. My dad was totally unaware of these supposed changes as he and my mother are not ones to use social media or alike, they will now sadly have to think long and hard about renewing their season tickets for this season, they do well at their age to attend regularly as it is considering they live ten miles from Ipswich so have a good hour plus drive there and back to attend the meetings, luckily for them they are also season ticket holders at Ipswich and Mildenhall so can still get their regular fix of shale action.

  16. I paid my first visit to both between Christmas and New Year. I had a nice long chat with Bert Harkins at the museum, my wife and son weren't impressed by the amount of time I was taking so I was hurried along so that we could visit the rest of the park! All in all it's a most enjoyable day out (I got some great pictures of the lions as well)

  19. Indeed. This incedent ended Billy's meeting and season there and then. There is still some doubt, however, whether Billy broke his wrist in the resulting crash or on Finn's head when they exchanged notes in the pits afterwards .....

  20. The story going round when he first rode for Poole was, He rode in a Grasstrack meeting in the afternoon and came off, landing in a cowpat....He then rode a Speedway meeting in the evening wearing the same unwashed leathers....hence the name “Smelly Smith”

  21. I take my hat off to people who can remember what happened on the 3rd bend between riders at Cradley in 1964, I cannot even remember what I had for tea.

  22. ok one last play they I must go. I've got to sleep for work in the morning and you have medication to take. Fact is that I was perfectly happy with the parking arrangements, never mentioned it and never lit the blue touchpaper. You need to look a bit closer to home. You're not Jed Maxwell's brother are you with a Hans Andersen decorated bedroom and 14 hour tattoo?

  25. That is still bringing people in though, more people more money, perhaps Sheffield should charge a fee to all the other clubs for increasing their gates

  27. Or better still as many supporters as possible turn up at Eastbourne for the 1st match and Poole for the 2nd match and watch Eastbourne knock them out ( hopefully)

  28. Cast your minds back to 2018 & the uproar it caused when Scunthorpe struggled with rider availability for injured riders & requested teams move to their original race nights! Now this happens, about Poole, before the season has started & when a few fixtures could have been better arranged to suit the original draw made on the 27th November. When did the fixture planning start? A VERY POOR EXCUSE & posters wonder why Poole were hated in the EL/Premiership!

  29. You hit the ail on the head, got nothing to do with available dates Everything to do with-: 1000 mile round trip Sam Masters / Richie Worrall / Josh Pickering ! Early exit in KOC and locals would be despondent

  30. How many riders have pulled out of the sport in the last few years because the step up was too much.

  31. Agree,it’s not that long ago that Clubs had to ride 40+ meetings per season.Poole and Edinburgh don’t even share same race nights, they would have been better saying nothing as coming up with that excuse.Poole will have an alternate race day if they had to use it.

  32. I would like them protected to a certain level unlike in Poland. If any of these lads reach an average of about 6 then it proves that they are ready to be a 2nd strings as to average 6, you must be beating fellow reserves & 2nd strings. To move up if you get an average of about 4-4.50 would be wrong as some teams might go top heavy in the team leader department, having 2nd strings at around that level. Most teams will have 2nd strings about 5-5.50 so the move up should be correct.

  33. The Championship in my opinion was a nicely run league, we now get "newcomers" to it and suddenly a word in the right ear and cup ties get changed. The cup fixtures were sorted and advised to all, they should never have been changed just because one club found it difficult to fit in a first round meeting. If the can't fit in the meetings then withdraw from the cup altogether, or perhaps stay in a league with only 7 teams in it and therefore less meetings altogether during the season would suit them better. With a bit of luck Eastbourne will progress victorious from the second round, after all they did give Leicester a run for their money last season, and that should help Poole with their "crowded" fixture list.

  34. An even greater incentive for Eastie to continue their annually good KO cup form and dump Poole out of it.

  35. Agreed, and the numerous tag alongs who arrive with the riders. Also friends of a friend who is a friend of someone else's friend who park inside.

  36. Saturday night makes most sense I’d say. The catchment area for Rye could potentially encompass the M25, M11 etc. and it would be easier for most people to negotiate those on a Saturday as opposed to during Friday night rush hour. Never been a fan of afternoon racing at Rye, would like to think the track can continue to use Sunday as a revenue stream from training and hold meetings on Saturday nights if we do reopen.

  37. How about anyone having their first three matches for £10 a time? That might attract new fans, former fans, friends and girlfriends who then get the bug sufficiently to pay £16 for the rest of the season.

  42. Why? Fixture list was embargoed until Thursday to ensure everyone had time to release them at the same time. I believe that British Speedway needs the Star as, without it, there would be no central source of information. So it’s a simple trade off that the Star gets to release their information at the same time as everyone else. Not before, and not after. It’s how media works best, in my view

  43. All very unsavoury this. Has to be said that the communication between those that run/own the club and the fans who ultimately keep the club running, is poor to say the least.

  44. I think you will find he could have signed for both. As good as he is, he needs as much time as possible at small tracks and Newcastle and Edinburgh will give him that opportunity. The same comment goes for Kyle Bickley IMO.

  46. You cant just say one rider isnt as good as another as a basis for your argument. Is Kurtz as good as Doyle or Pedersen ...................no Is Kildemand as good as Batchelor or Holder..........no Your statement was that Belle Vue had easily the best top 5.....................they dont Of course Jordan Stewart isnt as good as the any of the Aces top 5................but thats not the discussion............. I would be confident after the first set of averages that Swindons top 5 will have a higher average than Belle Vues Belle Vue have a good solid 1-7 with no big names and without doubt the best number 6 in the league

  47. Its a bang average Belle Vue team... no number one in there at all..

  48. Len has been based in Kent for a long time. I think he sold up at Rye in the first place because of his interest in Kent, which is closer to home for him. Would love to see the Rockets back on track, my only request would be the return of the blue and yellow with the traditional rocket on the race suit. The BMR rebrand was garbage. I’d probably attend more in the third tier too. The price shouldn’t be as expensive (hopefully) and the top two divisions are a shadow of what they used to be.

  49. I will have some of what you are smoking please Belle Vue top 5 combined averages 32.8 Sheffield top 5 - 34.59 Swindon top 5 - 36.02 And if Ipswich use there whole 7.93 left then they will have a top 5 of 33.87 By all means think that Belle Vue will do well..........but to say they have the top 5 by a country mile..........is a country mile out

  50. Good to see some TV news coverage of Speedway tonight, even though it was local (Look North BBC), covering Nicki Pedersens introduction to the fans at Owlerton last night. This is what the man brings and it shows how important having riders like him in Britain is.
