  1. At least you wont get any confusion with Peterborough riders averages as play offs are just a thing of the past now.

  2. Wow.. Sometimes I do believe those within the 'inner sanctum' see this sort of thing as 'perfectly normal'.. Whilst those who pay the wages (the fans) also known as 'those who really matter'... Think.. "What a load of bollox"....

  3. According to Sportowefakty, Zmarzlik beat Lewandowski to the Polish Sports person of the year. What a result for the still relatively young Pole. Granted Lewandowski was non existent in the Euro's (as were his colleagues). But, arguably out with Messi and Ronaldo, he is the most prolific CF in the world. While I would concede a lot of money has been pumped into Speedway nationally. Comments pre the event (that I read), suggested that Speedway over there is still in the minutiae across parts of Poland. Bartosz's victory should give new exposure to the Polish Ekstraliga and hopefully Ligue 1&2. Had his injuries, learning his trade under Gollob. He has produced unrivalled consistancy for the past 5 years domestically, while staying loyal to employers Stal Gorzow. A great night for Zmarzlik and hopefully a break through for Polish Speedway.

  5. My postman is very disappointed. For years, he thought I was the recipient of some very dodgy material as it was sent in a “brown plain wrapper”. Now he realises it’s just Speedway porn

  6. Not really, he could quite easily win something with Redcar this year and with Lynn in the future as a number seven. You should try posting something positive for a change, would do you the world of good I’m sure.

  16. Doesn't Sam come from Newcastle in Aus.Really hope everything is ok there, but the latest report says very high risk of bushfires in that area. My sister lives in Queensland, and they had the fire's in October.Just feel so sorry for the heartache this catastrophic event has caused to people down under.

  17. Facebook page has Hans and Tungate picture with a caption this... Put money on they are both in this pending announcement. Then we will have a long wait for the remaining 2 riders IMO.

  22. Absolutely, he is highly unlikely to get to their level but as tellboy says you can’t build a team full of superstars. Half decent riders are equally important.
    1 point
  23. No team will ever have a 1-7 full of decent riders. You will have some half decent and some not as good as that.Thats the way the team average dictates.Imo Kasper will be half decent. He done ok with Redcar and wasn't too bad away from the NA with Lynn.

  24. I think Kasper will turn out to be a half decent rider, he just couldn’t ride our mega grippy track.

  25. Found it. Pt 1 of the Ernie Evans story Started out when he was in fact too young to hold a licence and an old lady told once said ' He ought to be well spanked and put to bed instead of flying round there like a mad thing' He was coached by Reg West and soon started winning and making money, and after two seasons at Melbourne decided he wanted some of the 'gold' that Huxley etc were making and set off for England. He soon learned the streets of London weren't paved with gold as nobody believed him that he was Australian. Apparently a number of english riders were at the time pretending to be Aussies and had been found out !!!!(one of his half truths or real ?) Ended up at Belle Vue and was given a chance by E.O.Spence ,The king of the North. And was racing 5 nights a week and was given 12 pound appearance money and at the end of the season was invited by A.J.Hunting to join the group of riders to race in South America. First port of call was Rio and 'we thought the city had gone en fete for us. As we sailed up the harbour guns were fired - as we thought in salute - but we were disappointed when we found out it was only a periodical revolution and were not allowed to land........on arrival in Buenos Aires, we were divided into two teams, one to ride at La Huracan speedway and the other at La Plata. The tracks were perhaps the finest in the world, being surfaced with brick dust, but unfortunately when it rains they become a sea of mud. We raced 4 nights a week and were always assured of at least 30,000 spectators......ordinary racing such as we have in Australia or England would not satisfy them They must have thrills and crashes all the time.......No crowd in the world is as ready to applaud as they, and of course to condem. In fact one night to show their disapproval of their champion Juan Pagano, who struck engine trouble, they burnt down the grandstand ' !!!! 'A couple fo shootings among the spectators was no rare event. But fortunately they didn't pick on us ' He describes the strange situation of spending a night in a cell and being fined 50 pesos for a traffic offence, but someone had been killed while he was out shopping with Pagano almost before their eyes and yet got off scot free !! After a few weeks he was loaned out to a new speedway in Rosario(3rd Argentine track), which turned out to be an old trotting track and the locals were on pre-WW1 machines. Evans was billed there as 'the greatest rider the world had ever seen' and towards the end of the meeting he was giving the locals a 2 lap start in a 6 lap race !!! 'During our stay in Buenos Aires we raced quite often in Monte Video which is just across the River Plata. We travelled back and forth on Pan American Airways' 'I found my visit to the Argentina all too short and was reluctant to leave at the end of 7 months, but with the close of the dirt track season there was nothing to hold us...'

  26. Brian Havelock, once a promoter at Redcar, stopped Matej Kus signing for Newcastle until they agreed to purchase him which had to go to arbitration. Think he did the same with Aaron Summers.

  33. Polywrap is used for lots of applications, from direct mail pieces to magazines and catalogues, and for keeping weekend newspapers and their supplements together. Every week, in fact, millions of polywrapped items make their way into the hands of consumers and businesses. And there’s good reason for that, polywrap is light, strong and weather resistant, making it extremely effective at the task it is required to fulfil. It is also, despite perceptions to the contrary, recyclable. “Polywrap is LDPE [low-density polyethylene] and as such is one of the most easily recyclable materials on the market. The trouble is local authorities don’t want to take it back because it’s so light,” explains Malcolm Atkinson, managing director at Hereford-based flexible films extruder and printer Alfaplas. Unfortunately, the UK’s frankly dysfunctional recycling systems doesn’t help. As the BBC recently reported, across the UK there are 39 different sets of rules in force for plastics recycling. In the absence of a national standard, no wonder end-users are confused about what to do with their polywrap-type waste.

  34. Jerzy Trzeszkowski and Leonard Raba rode for the budgies in 1978, Trzeszkowski a former world finalist looked well past his best at that time.Raba had ability a great gater and he fell a few times in good racing position's he odviously was pretty useful as he later got in the 1984 Poland World team cup final team in Leszno.

  36. Yes there was team racing in Argentina that season, River Plate vs Huracan in a series of home and away meetings, and the accumulated points scored over the season deciding the overall winner. Huracan won the competition by 454 to 445 points. Here is an incomplete fixture list of the 1930-31 Argentinean Teams events Dec. 7 - River Plate vs Huracan Dec. 11 - River Plate vs Huracan (Aggregate: Huracan 132, River Plate 136) Dec. 25 - River Plate v Huracan Dec. 27 - Huracan vs River Plate Jan. 1 - River Plate vs Huracan Jan. 8 - River Plate vs Huracan (Aggregate: Huracan 266, River Plate 270) Jan. 15 - River Plate v Huracan Jan. 17 - Huracan vs River Plate (Aggregate: Huracan 350, River Plate 347) Jan. 23 - Huracan vs River Plate Jan. 29 - River Plate vs Huracan Feb. 4 - Huracan vs River Plate Feb. 11 - Huracan vs River Plate (Huracan win the team competition on aggregate: Huracan 454, River Plate 445) And yes, there were a few Uruguayan riders as well, but as far as I know they rode only in the Montevideo meetings and were not at the same Level as the best of the Argentineans. The opening meeting in Montevideo was held on Saturday, January 31, 1931. Further ones on February 7, 14, 18, and possibly some more.

  40. Given his accident, and time out of the sport, there would be a case for a reduced average. As it is he is unfit to ride speedway because of his injury. The point that you have missed again is that Dandelion is joking that it would need Kenni on say a 4 to make the Diamonds to be threatening. Keep taking ya tablets.

  42. Cook says he was left in the lurch after leaving Belle Vue and Buster has been good to deal with, so where does this leave the situation of him not riding for Peterborough after initially agreeing to do so, who was actually lying at the time of the announcement.

  43. Cook and Lambert one of the best spearhead in this league with back up from Riss we have a very strong top 3. I think if we can get someone with great potential like Pickering or Jeppesen at 7 with Proctor at 6 that could be one of the strongest reserve partnership. Biggest worry is the middle order think Both Jorgensen and Kerr will have time at reserve which will do them good. Clear up every home meeting pick up points away and we will be in the top four. Problem is we always seem to have a blip at home and just miss out on points away.

  44. If the British Championship was held over seven rounds at every track in the Premiership, I would suggest Cook would win it by some margin... Had a higher away average than both Lambert and Bewley And a home track he had ridden regularly for less than one season suggests he could improve this in 2020 now more dialled in..

  45. I think he's a good signing on 7.58. Will at the worst hold his average imho.

  46. Can't agree with you there, I think his average will go up! He can't be too bad as he's qualified for a GP series something Bewley & Lambert haven't done yet!

  47. Maybe not but he would be a cracking signing for a Premiership team and in my opinion if he did would finish with a higher average than Nicki P
