Very good around Smallbrook and on a lowish average due to his poor stint at Plymouth. He’s a nice team man and will help out the younger guys whilst being a useful third heat leader.2 points

I think I've mentioned it before but I remember reading a stat that said that Vic Huxley has the best number of starts - number of wins ratio in the history of the sport. Even if most of us never saw him ride that alone must get him into the top 7 riders. Others like Farndon, Duggan etc. should also be included. As with most sports though it's difficult to compare sportsmen of different eras.2 points

We have the only promotion that reward riders for the failed season before lol just always say the same thing they are much better than the average suggests and how they like keeping same riders together etc load of nonsense! All 3 promoters are useless2 points

Same old, same old.. nothing new here. it appears the management have learnt nothing from the season past... Its as if there not bothered. When so many fans were looking for inspiration and hope for a successful season, we are met with the same ole faces that have failed so many times....2 points

the scorpions look stronger this year and will be around the top bunch ,a fool would differ2 points

Think it maybe lack of daylight during the winter months up north (unlike the sunny south coast), which drives some of them slightly mad, does seem to trouble some more than others though, but think THJ may need a UV lamp, and a bit more vitamin D this time of year, although thinking about it he doesn't appear to be a lot different in the summer.2 points

Changing my mind now ~ Horse Racing isn't worse than Greyhound Racing. Sadly they are both as bad as each other and of course at the root of it all is humans as usual so they can indulge in betting.2 points

Today I started a new venture. Kent Speedway Fans TV, will initially be a pre recorded show but if it takes off I hope to broadcast live ala speedway tavern (but a lot more amateur lol). Fellow fans Glenn Collins and Wayne Raines joined me to discuss the 2019 season and look forward to 2020 season. And we were joined by Dan Gilkes who was "live from the sofa" and he talks about his speedway history, reviews his 2019 season and looks ahead to his championship debut in 2020. Hopefully it will be ready to put out on new years day.1 point

Is it just me that thinks we look quite strong this year, especially at reserve... no offence to the likes of Gilkes/Ledwith, Thompson Twins, Flint/Bickley, Edwards/Kemp etc but Simon alone should clear up them... tell you one thing, its gonna be hell of a season at the track of the year1 point

Absolutely Split. It is really impossible to name a greatest seven ever. Different times, different styles, different bikes, different tracks. Do we mean the greatest in the sense of over a long period of time or riders who shone briefly but really shone in that brief period? There are all sorts of issues to consider. Here is a list of 20 great riders who dominated their period (and even this is not exhaustive as I am sure people can readily come up with other names). How do you decide a top seven out of this lot? Frank Arthur, Vic Huxley, Tom Farndon, Bluey Wilkinson, Jack Parker, Vic Duggan, Freddie Williams, Jack Young, Ronnie Moore, Peter Craven, Ove Fundin, Barry Briggs, Ivan Mauger, Ole Olsen, Anders Michanek, Peter Collins, Hans Nielsen, Erik Gundersen, Tony Rickardsson, Greg Hancock.1 point

Biggest problem Somerset has are restrictions within their planning consent. Otherwise there would/could be a lot more going on @ the Oaktree. P.S. I think the visit of Borris to the OTA was a feather in the cap to all concerned. Thank God it wasn't Corbyn & Abbott with her 2 left shoes!1 point

Sorry Wee Eck, to find fun in what was a very sensible post. Call it my warped sense of humour. But a political rally at a speedway stadium seems eminently appropriate as politicians are very good at going round in circles.1 point

You also need a completely different fence for stock cars. Kirky Lane used heavy duty chains, Coventry had Armco barriers, Kings Lynn has a solid steel fence. I don’t know what Sheffield and Scunthorpe use. The centre “green” at both Coventry and Kings Lynn was concreted over to allow the stocks to drive on then without damage. Kirky Lane was just a muddy mess. One of the “failures” (in my opinion) of the NSS is the lack of success in turning what is the best Speedway stadium in the UK into a multi-purpose venue. Look at what Somerset have achieved with turning their place into a busy function hub. Weddings, birthdays, even (though maybe now regretted) a venue for a Conservative Party rally. Maybe it’s the difference between one venue being run by its owners, the other by employees.1 point

I see the Charles Wright introduction on the Belle Vue tv link and Steve Worrall was also there.I initially thought Steve might of needed a move to reinvent himself but looking at it now Steve has a really important part to play next year for the Aces .I hate the averages facts and figures side of speedway but Steve is one of those riders that there are not many riders on his average that are better than him.I think he can put a point on his average and if he can get back to the level he was at in his WTC year he can average more.I enjoyed watching Steve in his Swindon days stint and i believe he is far better than he has shown recently also he is a really popular team man.1 point

He has supported Swindon and Poole over the last few seasons under different user names. No idea why he's gone onto Peterborough now.1 point

He's also caused more Promoters and Referees more grief than just about any other Rider in the past 20 years with his constant moaning and whining! Jury's out !1 point

As it was Belle Vue's home track for nearly a third of it's history, it's still a sad day for the club. I don't think any long term fans will be as 'misty eyed' about it as they are about Hyde Road, but it's much more than a footnote to the club's history.1 point

Might be a good idea with some human males. Regarding dogs and cats though are you seriously suggesting they shouldn't be neutered? A cat can have 3 litters a year for probably 15 years so if none of them were neutered either the problem of feral and homeless cats doesn't even bear thinking about. Rescue centres are already over flowing with unwanted animals. I have always had female dogs and they have been speyed at 6 months and I can't say I have ever noticed any psychological effect, whatever that means.1 point

Not necessarily. For years now the GPs have been uploaded onto YouTube, which you can watch on a smart TV., and usually on there by late evening. Therefore, don't look at the result then watch it as a 'live' performance the following day. No ads either.1 point

You don't need to read "the papers". The Greyhound Board of Great Britain release their own report stating 1,000 dogs died in a single year, including 242 put down trackside and 324 which were put down because they could not be rehomed. This is only dogs which "retire" it doesn't include those which were being trained but were not considered suitable. A report compiled for the Irish Greyhound Board concluded that on average 5.987 dogs were culled (slide 26) each year as they "failed to produce qualifying times" (2,673); "failure to produce desired entry level times" (1,989) and an "unacceptable decline in performance" (1,326).0 points
