I appreciated hearing your views and fully accept why Poole & Newcastle were not included, I'm expecting you to update your list when each is known. The flak you are getting appears to be more due to part of your name as opposed to your comments2 points

Don’t understand why an ex World champion has so many problems getting visa?. Has he been in trouble with the police?2 points

I could, especially riding for Ipswich. Holder has been a major beneficiary of Guy Nicholls’ sponsorship over the years, so I’d bet he’d give it more for “his” club (Ipswich) than he probably would for anyone else.2 points

Personally feel Connor is better than Paco... Maybe Simon is better, but certainly not at Brough... I do agree... Sam Jensen is a hell of a reserve, and I did sort of forget about him being a reserve... But I think Connor would give him a run for his money for sure... Think James Wright (Although a little unknown) is definitely the best second reserve in the league... We have the best pairing for sure Followed closely by Glasgow... Think Claus will do a solid job... But he's not the MASSIVE number 1 the likes of Poole and Glasgow have... Still look forward to seeing at least 3 (Hopefully more) new faces in Diamonds kevlars... Predictions for the 20th? Can't wait!!2 points

Next rider to be announced tomorrow morning - my money is on Erik. That will be 3 riders announced in 9 days - surely there’ll be nothing left to moan about?!2 points

I think you are jumping to conclusions! Poole will find the loopholes in the rule book but that is open to every team in the league. As one top stock car driver has on the back of his car "Second place is first loser!" I would just remind you what a lot of people said about Ipswich this time last year and about Workington around twelve months earlier. Newcastle may not have the best team on paper but races are won on the dirt not on paper! EDIT:- I must remember in future to quote what I am answering so that when the original comment is edited it does not make my comment meaningless! Looks like the person who started the thread can't stand by his comments so I won't bother making any further comments on what he says.2 points

You might very well be right Norbold, especially as I think Jack Biggs had been dominant in the qualifying rounds and topped the list of qualifiers . However there is another version that I am sure I got from Classic Speedway . That version was that as Biggs started to get troubled by an old back injury and started to get an attack of nerves as he got closer to the possible tile. That could possibly explain why he came last in his last two rides, especially getting passed by Young and Waterman in the run off . However who of us really knows what was going on in Jack Biggs mind at the time ? It’s a funny old sport. Jack Young was only about 10th highest qualifier in the qualifying rounds, but had a good night, got second bite of the cherry in the run off grabbed his chance with both hands, and as a result got into the history books as a great rider and the first to win back to back World Finals whereas the history books view Biggs as something as an also ran . Time to recognise both as great riders. I was gutted when Jack Biggs lost his life in such a freak accident. A real solid servant of Speedway , as by all accounts a really nice guy behind the scenes, always with time for the fans, as was Jack Young.2 points

This is what people don’t get about Lynn signing Proctor. Don’t get me wrong he could be a poor signing but just because he had a bad 2019 doesn’t mean he won’t be a good reserve this coming season.2 points

Jenkins is five years younger and has been involved in league racing since 2016, Phillips started in 2012. Jenkins has more potential IMO.2 points

Yes the good old days when every heat was a classic and Stars trophy cabinet needed extending every year.2 points

Absolutely correct. The heat leaders, are top notch, but I fancy Jordan Stewart, to go to a whole new level, this season. Kasper is capable, of beating a lot of heat leaders, (especially around the MPA). The reserves are both racers and if they give, a decent account of themselves, that side will go a long way.2 points

Only surprise is Jordan Jenkins - not one of the 2 pointers mentioned and I know very little about him. Love the top 5 - if Kasper and Jordan S push on as they could then this is a very good Bears team.. Good team, Good promotion, Good track. Good time for Speedway on Teesside.2 points

Think the point is 7.16 isn’t a figure you’d call expensive for a rider of his calibre. Whether you think he’d increase it or not is up for debate and I personally think he’d push that up towards the 8 mark, but you certainly wouldn’t call him a poor signing on such a figure.1 point

Let's not forget Chris had some horrendous injuries as well as trying to move on from his best mate Darcy's career ending accident. There was also a lot of personal off track stuff that affected him deeply and still affects whether he gets a visa or not. If he signs at Ippo or anywhere else he'll be an 8 point rider for sure1 point

Surely the Number 1 does have to have the highest average and ride at 1 - unless that rule is changed for 2020?!1 point

No details as to the format. And the date was announced before Poole decided to go Championship so anything might change even though Matt Ford has publicly promised Middlo a good 'pay day' after his previous testimonial fund, back in the mid-eighties, was nicked by the then promotion.1 point

Ah, makes sense! Sorry,, my German is not so good, although I should have noticed the date and venue. I have removed the duplicate entry, and I have also listed Deon Prinsloo. Thanks for your help! Steve1 point

Really pleased with the team - delighted to see the top 5 back. Thought we might have to break it up. 3 top heat leaders, with Stewart hopefully pushing them this season. On paper not the strongest at reserve - but plenty of potential there. If one of the reserve catches fire it could be one of the teams to beat. Very happy - well done promotion.1 point

A similar sort of story was told by Split Waterman about the 1951 World Final. After 4 rides each, Jack Biggs was unbeaten, with one race to go. Split Waterman was out against Biggs , and another rider in the race - I forget who - came up to Split and said “Has Jack asked you to keep out of his way ? “ Split said he hadn’t so they both went out and beat Biggs who came last, this finishing on 12 points which gave Split and Jack Young the chance of a run off against Biggs. The rest is history. In the run off Biggs made the gate but nerves got to him and he was passed first by Jack Young then Waterman. Split Waterman didn’t say whether money would need to change hands for the others to “keep out of the way “ but it is unlikely to be a gentleman’s agreement !1 point

FFS enough already. You just can’t accept that the original question was answered - several times! You are making yourself look silly now so the smart thing to do is to stop - and give us all a break!1 point

Hopefully putting the Auty v Kurtz to bed here a couple facts and stats Fact Josh has clearly stated that he has no interest in riding in the Premiership, it would appear that he has found his limit and his contented to stick with Scunthorpe Out of all of the riders in the Championship who finished as the teams number 1 rider Josh had lowest away average, and the difference between home and away averages he had the second highest difference. Stats Since Todd joined Sheffield Todd has raced Josh 8 times. Of those 8 race Todd scored 13 points and Josh scored 10 Todd beat Josh on 6 of those 8 occasions. And finally Todd is an asset of Sheffield speedway so loan fee require, and with the signing of Nicki Pedersen balancing the books could have come into play with bringing into the team.1 point

OK OK before anybody gets on my case I know I have to get a life. For the heck of it I looked up the great book -"World Speedway Final A History from 1929" by Maurice Jones.. I wanted to see if any of the riders of the old one-off World Finals are still with us. Obviously all the pre -war World Finalists have left us, so I looked at the 1949 Final and they have all gone too. Going to 1950 we do have one survivor -Arthur Payne, scored zero from 5 rides including one exclusion but he was there-good on him.(my buddy Reg Fearman visited him a couple of years ago in Oz). I then went to 1951-there is also one survivor-Dick Bradley. Dick was a reserve and got 2 points from one ride -Heat 17 -looks like he replaced Ernie Roccio and finished second behind Louis Lawson but ahead of Alan Hunt and Norman Parker. Incidentally I always felt that Dick-who was a real gent- never got the recognition his career deserved. I was privileged to see him ride in his last year at Newport in 1965-still leading the Wasps averages until his accident at Newport against Sheffield with Clive Featherby(also RIP)-don't think there was anything intentional but Clive was a take no prisoners kind of guy. On to 1952-now there are a few more still with us -and we are talking about 67 years ago here folks. Arthur Payne made it again - 9 points this time. After not doing so good in his first two rides he scored two points in his third ride finishing behind Jack Young in Heat 12 but ahead of Brian Crutcher and Arthur Forrest, then he won Heat 16 ahead of Graham Warren, Cyril Roger and Ron How, and Heat 20 ahead of Split Waterman, Jeff Lloyd and Dan Forsberg. A not too shabby performance I would say. The other 1952 survivors are the aforementioned Dick Bradley, Dan Forsberg, Brian Crutcher and Derek Close. So 5 of these great rides are still with us. Just a final comment-after three rides -Dick Bradley was still in with a real chance with 8 points. In Heat 4 he finished ahead of Split, Brian Crutcher and Cyril Roger. Then in heat 8 he finished behind home rider Bob Oakley but ahead of Arthur Payne and Henry Long. Heat 9 he won ahead of Derek Close, Dan Forsberg and Ron How (another favourite of mine). So after 3 rides Dick was in with a great chance-Jack Young had nine points and then there was Fred Williams, Bob Oakley and Dick all on 8 points. I still reckon that Fred and Bob as home riders had an advantage-if the meeting had been held at Bristol it may have gone the other way. Sorry to bore you guys with all this-just wondering if any forumlanders were at the 1950,1951 and 1952 Finals- anybody-gustix maybe? I sure wish I had been able to attend!! -1 point
