There seems to be a vast gulf between NL and CL, but only a dribble of p!ss between the top 2 leagues5 points

Championship should take priority on good Friday as it’s outside of the chosen race nights for the Premiership.3 points

I appreciated hearing your views and fully accept why Poole & Newcastle were not included, I'm expecting you to update your list when each is known. The flak you are getting appears to be more due to part of your name as opposed to your comments2 points

Don’t understand why an ex World champion has so many problems getting visa?. Has he been in trouble with the police?2 points

I could, especially riding for Ipswich. Holder has been a major beneficiary of Guy Nicholls’ sponsorship over the years, so I’d bet he’d give it more for “his” club (Ipswich) than he probably would for anyone else.2 points

Personally feel Connor is better than Paco... Maybe Simon is better, but certainly not at Brough... I do agree... Sam Jensen is a hell of a reserve, and I did sort of forget about him being a reserve... But I think Connor would give him a run for his money for sure... Think James Wright (Although a little unknown) is definitely the best second reserve in the league... We have the best pairing for sure Followed closely by Glasgow... Think Claus will do a solid job... But he's not the MASSIVE number 1 the likes of Poole and Glasgow have... Still look forward to seeing at least 3 (Hopefully more) new faces in Diamonds kevlars... Predictions for the 20th? Can't wait!!2 points

Next rider to be announced tomorrow morning - my money is on Erik. That will be 3 riders announced in 9 days - surely there’ll be nothing left to moan about?!2 points

I think you are jumping to conclusions! Poole will find the loopholes in the rule book but that is open to every team in the league. As one top stock car driver has on the back of his car "Second place is first loser!" I would just remind you what a lot of people said about Ipswich this time last year and about Workington around twelve months earlier. Newcastle may not have the best team on paper but races are won on the dirt not on paper! EDIT:- I must remember in future to quote what I am answering so that when the original comment is edited it does not make my comment meaningless! Looks like the person who started the thread can't stand by his comments so I won't bother making any further comments on what he says.2 points

You might very well be right Norbold, especially as I think Jack Biggs had been dominant in the qualifying rounds and topped the list of qualifiers . However there is another version that I am sure I got from Classic Speedway . That version was that as Biggs started to get troubled by an old back injury and started to get an attack of nerves as he got closer to the possible tile. That could possibly explain why he came last in his last two rides, especially getting passed by Young and Waterman in the run off . However who of us really knows what was going on in Jack Biggs mind at the time ? It’s a funny old sport. Jack Young was only about 10th highest qualifier in the qualifying rounds, but had a good night, got second bite of the cherry in the run off grabbed his chance with both hands, and as a result got into the history books as a great rider and the first to win back to back World Finals whereas the history books view Biggs as something as an also ran . Time to recognise both as great riders. I was gutted when Jack Biggs lost his life in such a freak accident. A real solid servant of Speedway , as by all accounts a really nice guy behind the scenes, always with time for the fans, as was Jack Young.2 points

This is what people don’t get about Lynn signing Proctor. Don’t get me wrong he could be a poor signing but just because he had a bad 2019 doesn’t mean he won’t be a good reserve this coming season.2 points

Five laps a heat clockwise and a one-off final heat for the title after 16 GP’s around the globe with one on each Ekstraliga track in Poland.2 points

Says the person who reckons he only keeps to the International section these days cos he has no time for British speedway 'because they treated him so poorly'!? Boo hoo.2 points

Buster, robin and dale have no clue on how to put decent team together! All bloody useless2 points

Jenkins is five years younger and has been involved in league racing since 2016, Phillips started in 2012. Jenkins has more potential IMO.2 points

Yes the good old days when every heat was a classic and Stars trophy cabinet needed extending every year.2 points

Absolutely correct. The heat leaders, are top notch, but I fancy Jordan Stewart, to go to a whole new level, this season. Kasper is capable, of beating a lot of heat leaders, (especially around the MPA). The reserves are both racers and if they give, a decent account of themselves, that side will go a long way.2 points

Only surprise is Jordan Jenkins - not one of the 2 pointers mentioned and I know very little about him. Love the top 5 - if Kasper and Jordan S push on as they could then this is a very good Bears team.. Good team, Good promotion, Good track. Good time for Speedway on Teesside.2 points

We where the only ones that would have him after the silly team building averages came out. Ford dropped his main man like a stone.1 point

Not worried about all this bickering going on BUT just clarify Poole were not relegated but chose for whatever reason to drop down.1 point

Depends who you believe. PA said the reason behind the points limit was because they were unsure if Nicol would be a 4 or 6 (not sure what the uncertainty has been around the average as I’ve seen others suggest it would be reassessed to 5/ use his CL converted average/ be a 4/ and now possibly a 6). Im not convinced the team was built around getting a number one either. Although the evidence on the spare points would certainly point to that.1 point

Oops. I touched a nerve there didn't I?! Incidentally I would never say anything about your father as i've never come across him. You however are a totally different kettle of fish!! Anyone would think Poole have never ridden 2nd division before?! And yes I do remember the 80's very well especially my visits to Rye House!! Sorry to have disturbed your after lunch nap.1 point

I do hope the Thompson's do well, but realistically they were nowhere as good as Flint was in the previous season's NL as a 15 year old, and he averaged 3.42 this season for Berwick and was generally thought to have done well.1 point

One hell of a chip you are carrying to bring up the 70s !!!! How many times have you given up on this place ? More comebacks than Sinatra1 point

Wouldn't surprise me if Harris ended up being in the team, He couldn't get to grips with Foxhole and has got to be better than his current average. On his day he can put in a decent top rider score and win crucial heats1 point

A friend of mine - who had been to the first meeting at High Beech in 1928, so he knew a bit about speedway! - told me that Jack Biggs was always very nervous. He remembered seeing him in the pits at various meetings and he was just a bag of nerves. He felt he would have won many more trophies and individual events if he hadn't been so nervous. His view of the 1951 final, which he was at, was that nerves once again got the better of Jack, both in his final race and in the run-off and that's why he lost.1 point

Sorry, not involved in the organisation, you will have to contact the supporters club through facebook and ee if there are any tickets left.1 point

With the greatest of respect to him, Klindt is never a number 1. He's a decent second string/3rd heatleader. I'm pretty sure Ipswich will be solid across the 1 to 7 but like last season, they will struggle at the top end and in the big races.1 point

......and how can anyone say Claus definitely won’t improve? How would they know that for sure. My opinion is that he’s still on the way up. Good luck to him and to Newcastle.1 point

Seem to remember people saying the same thing when we signed Matty Wethers two years ago. Vissing was no. 5 at Glasgow until late July last season so I've no worries there. Only 9 last places in 23 matches. home average 9.14 away 8.26. As consistent, if not better than, most no 1's.1 point

A very good scrambler (as it was in those days). Used to watch him when scrambling was a feature on Saturday afternoon TV. Dave Bickers, Jeff Smith, then they brought Torsten Holman and Rolf Tiblin (names if I remember right). Great stuff. Another good in bites the dust.1 point
