  1. Have you seen Sam Jensen race? He is an out and out racer, never gives up , he has only seen a few tracks over here and susses them out quickly, he will be a very strong reserve

  2. And that is key to success , believe me , maybe finally Glasgow might have built a winning team , a good reserve always swapping places with his team mates , was one of our major contributions to the treble of 2018, a pretty even team and Cook at 1

  3. Cook Lambert and Riss will be the three heat leaders and to be fair they don't come cheap. Unfortunately that is likely to reflect in the bottom four though, and cheaper, familiar names although having their merits won’t solve our away form. Its disappointing that the club appear to have decided against freshening the team up with three or four new faces.

  4. In average terms possibly, in real terms a huge gulf. As I said, it’s no reflection on Jack Smith (JS) but Anders Rowe (AR) rode as second string for 2 and a bit months at Somerset, doing extremely well for a 17 year old. I cannot remember JS riding to that standard at any time. That suggests to me that despite the relative similarity in averages AR is already ahead of JS and is progressive. Its a big ask but he sounds grounded, clearly has some decent equipment and 4 decent riders to tap into for advice. What’s not to like?

  5. I don’t think there is some big master plan for averages to drop and then someone else has already been lined up. I just think that Somerset have been the financial decision to not spend anymore than X amount and therefore the team isn’t anywhere near the standard you would come to expect a few seasons ago. If that is what they have to do to keep the team afloat, then that is what they have to do. The biggest mistake was not signing Wilson-Dean last season. Why that didn’t happen, I don’t know. He’s now come in on an inflated average that he won’t achieve just to compound the mistake further.

  6. The 43.97 does flatter the Stars unfortunately. The top 6 riders averaged only 33 away from home. Lynn's engine room were really poor and, and Buster signs 2 of the worst culprits Home Lewis and TJ 14.11 Away 7.78 .. (TJ 7.71 home and 3.78 away. Lewis 6.40 Home and 4.00 away. Some of that at reserve). Wish them well, but it doesn't scream ambition to me. Oh well on the the next one

  9. Would Simon Lambert fit for the other place ? Albert Einstein is widely credited with saying, “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results.”

  10. What they put through the books and what they actually make is probably completely different a lot of cash easy not to show I.e car park fees, etc

  11. I'm hinting that Newcastle has the better track... Although in reality, Christ knows how Scunthorpe got track of the year and Glasgow didn't... I suspect Rob Godfrey, the overlord of the BSPA, chose the results did he?

  12. Just to recap, Adam signed for Peterborough last week, Swindon on Monday & now Swindon tomorrow. You should be a comedian as the stuff you come out with is gold. Perhaps this guess may actually be right (although I do hope it's not).

  13. Proctor has great value at reserve. When looking at the heat format race by race Proctor on his average should at least score a point per heat against the opposition reserve. Have no doubt, Proctor will improve his current average at reserve. The issue though is would he likely remain reserve? Probably not but if the reserve spot is swapped and changed between Procter and Kerr that does hold some strength in the reserve position.

  14. Sam is a very talented young rider and having had the tail end of last season will help. who knows how it will pan out though , you may well be right but there is improvement in all that team in my opinion.

  15. Honestly I know I can be a tad long winded at times and if I went into this properly chapter and verse it would fill a page and a half however I have a busy day today so the short answer is "No; it cant be done"; (yet) the system is so complicated it borders on total madness... Certain countries carry different status look on the UK-GOV.UK web site and there is everything from Tier 2 to Tier 5 visas and all the implications that these entail. Its not the clubs or the BSPA its the Government that create the rules. Its not as easy as just sponsoring someones application. This is why some riders officially cant ride in both leagues; do individual meetings or in one crazy instance I believe guest. If you think the product is watered down now just wait until Brexit kicks in and if Europeans need to jump through these hoops and obtain visas via a complicated process it may result in these guys saying its just not worth it and not come to the UK whatsoever Visa applications; sponsors licences and the work permit system is an absolute minefield even for someone with a construction business who wanted to employ a Polish bricklaying squad it was an absolute "Bawl Ache" and they were Europeans. 16. As a Bees fan and now a Leicester missionary (), I've watched Scott racing for many years. The riders are very accessible at Leicester especially doing post race interviews and it was very clear this season, that he is worth significantly more points than his average suggests. His experience and mentoring skills are invaluable and I for one are saddened by his move away from Beaumont Park. And don't forget, he might be a little less dominant on track, but he did finish 12th in the Championship averages.

  17. Ully isn’t the rider he was in his prime obviously but I will be very surprised if he doesn’t increase his starting average a fair bit... and some other members of this team will do likewise in my opinion.

  18. Charles Wright? Adam Ellis? I also think Eric Riss will kick on again.

  19. A good starting point would be a decent club logo, the striking uncomplicated logos work best, the iconic logos such as Poole, Belle Vue & Newcastle stand the test of time. When clubs change their club logo & even colours year on year this I think has a general negative effect. Even long lost tracks like New Cross, Norwich & Wimbledon with their striking uncomplicated logos are still easily recollected.

  20. Now there is a morale to this story and if you read the following I think it explains where and what the issue is? A new Female and Male department store has opened in Newcastle... WOMEN... This department store has opened in Newcastle that sells men and a Woman decides to visit it in search of a husband. At the store’s entrance, there’s a sign outlining the department store policy. The first rule states that you can only enter the store once. There are six floors and on each floor you can choose a husband or elect to move on to the next floor. You cannot visit a floor more than once other than to leave the building. So this Woman visits the first floor. The sign reads: · Men with jobs. She moves on to the second floor: · Men with jobs that adore children. She moves on to the third floor where the sign reads: · Wealthy men that adore children and are very handsome. She thinks to herself, "that's a very good deal" yet moves on to the fourth floor: · Wealthy men that adore children, are very handsome and help with the household chores. She decides to move on as things are constantly improving: · Wealthy men that adore children, are very handsome, help with the household chores and are very romantic. So the Woman is about to make her purchase but can't resist moving on to the sixth floor. There the sign reads: · You are visitor number 31,956,012 on this floor. · There are no men here. · This floor exists as proof that it is impossible to please women. See you just wont have it... you keep asking for not just the improbable but the impossible... By the way the MEN's store is directly opposite… So the other department store opened that sold women. The sign on the first floor reads: · Women that love sex. On the second floor the sign reads: · Women that love sex and are wealthy. On the third floor the sign reads: · Women that love sex, are wealthy and have large breasts. Not a single man has visited the fourth floor. I rest my case Regards THJ

  27. If I were to pick riders to enhance the Stars chances of success, MPT would definitely be a major player. To me he would be one of my first signing... One of the better gater's, he is always there or thereabouts... Not picking him would make no sense at all....

  28. Sam had not really ridden a track with long straights or grippy starts before he came over here he said nearly every track in Denmark is circular and smooth ,after his first race at Leicester he came in and said he might have to check his teeth incase his fillings had fallen out lol I told him to get used to bumpy tracks over here but he is a racer who once he gets hang off the starts and tracks I am pretty sure he will work his way up the team

  30. If the master plan is to drop Stoneman and then have x2 4pt riders at reserve then it’s still not an amazing team. History has shown us that you don’t need 2 ‘good’ reserves, but you need 1 ‘excellent’ one and tbh the other will only take 3 rides regardless.

  33. No not at all i see Smith win a heat two at the Abbey a year or so before his stint in the Robins team and for me he never kicked on.He had chances at Glasgow and Sheffield and did not push on in the Championship. Also with riders like Rowe/Bickley (examples) to progress they need to be riding two leagues certainly if they are stopped riding the NL (if there is one?. Would i rather have Anders scoring between 0/ 3 points per meeting gaining experience and having a longterm future for us or have someone else on a three who is also likely to struggle i would go with Anders.

  34. Wal Morton rode a few times in 1964, including at Ipswich on 21st June in second half races, for Ipswich at home to Weymouth in a Metropolitan League match on 21st July and for Weymouth at Rayleigh on 1st August, again in a Metropolitan League match. He did ride at Hackney in 1964, in two second half races on 29th April, then although programmed to ride in the second half on 6th May he did not take part. Wal had also been named at number 5 in the Hackney team for the Southern League match at Long Eaton on 28th April but failed to arrive and was replaced by the reserve in his third and fourth programmed rides-.

  35. Apart from natural ability Rasser has what all potential top riders need, a big desire to win races ! . I expect to see him develop further this season. I'm sure Rosco will be keeping an eye on young Sam if for no other reason than he is called Jensen !!

  36. Dave Parry has extended his sponsorship on the basis of being happy with the team plans, Knowing Dave I think he would have expressed his displeasure if those plans were to have a weaker team than last season.

  38. Either that or it’s a rubbish team with two older riders on their way down and an unconvincing Sam Jensen.

  39. Looking like a good blend of youth and experience. Good mix of riders equally at home on big or small tracks. Strong No1, potentially two strong reserves who should increase their averages, same can be said for Broc, Ully and Ricky who has a knack of dropping his average in his final year at a club . Could be the team to beat.

  40. Now the BSPA have become a Limited Company as a collective, couldn't they, as the umbrella organisation, sponsor the riders to come over? Would surely work out easier one person/group, within the organisation doing every Visa application rather than each club doing their own, and mean individual clubs under new ownership can still get riders... And a National Sporting body must surely carry more weight behind it than individual clubs, especially in the eyes of those decision makers who will want clear belief that any visa restrictions will be managed and controlled as agreed..

  41. If only that were the truth I could die a happy woman... Next you'll be telling me Ludvig and Rene are the other two heatleaders With Max and Matty as back up Do you have this from a source? Or just a pure guess, as I heard Rasmus wasn't doing Championship next year and I assume he'll be doing Poland?

  43. Unless Hancock turns out to be the big surprise signing I see no signs of a Revolution in the Wolves side for next year. However A day in the Life of your average Wolves fan may not be all gloom, with a shrewd signing or two a nice side may just Come Together after all. Already got my coat

  46. Just let it be with all these Beatles puns and start talking about the Speedway. . For me, if Wolves go with a team two points below the limit there is no chance for you Wolves fans that next year you will get back to where you once belonged.... But on the positive side, it at least looks like none of your team will have visa problems so all of them should have a ticket to ride.. I'll get me coat. ..

  48. The only thing that lets Ully down is his gear and part time mechanic... One thing for sure is Glasgow will make sure his gear is top notch.... they do support there riders... Real crafty signing this I think and Ully will end up flying at Glasgow and I reckon he will put 2 to 3 points on his current average... Shrewd move by the tigers and IMHO Ully will prove to be a real surprise package 2020 you watch... He's still a class act on a bike and well done Glasgow on his capture... Regards THJ
