  2. I keep out of the silly talk on here about Poole dropping down a league. The fact is that for economic reasons they have and that’s that. Personally , I would of hatted it if Poole had to let Ward, Holder and Magic go but those days have gone and the league has been diluted tremendously. Remembering when Poole were in the 2nd div before the racing was great and riders and fans were as one. Now top riders ride in so many leagues, home and abroad whose riders are they really. Costs of flying foreign riders in are tremendous and crowds are reducing. Therefore, if you want speedway costs must be cut. Yes it was great watching the Premiership it was no where near the standard of the old EL. Also watching Somerset the racing was great and a lot closer. Plymouth in the bottom league also provided some good racing on their own track. Therefore, you can say my team are better than yours but speedway is speedway and the closer the racing makes it interesting. Well done to Swindon for winning the league but remember they enjoyed the lower league in the past and I for one enjoyed it most weeks.

  3. Well it doesn't need me to remind everyone that the speedway would have run 15 one minute races over a 2 hour period, whilst two Metro trams would pass the site every seven minutes from early morning until late at night, on seven days of the week Perhaps a polite letter to Andy Street the existing Mayor of the West Midlands Combined Authority might generate a bit of action? Mr Street is a former Chairman of the John Lewis Group and is well known for his encouragement of enterprise. If it isn't treading on the toes of anyone connected with Cradley who may be doing something I/we aren't aware of, I'm willing to give this a try and see what the response is.

  4. After a heart felt plea by Matt Ford and Muddlo on South Today for volunteers to find Steve Shovlar, who’s been missing for several weeks feared choked on humble pie, an underwhelming response saw a task force of Starman and Foreverblue scour the seedy seaside town for several minutes yesterday evening. Unfortunately, after an exhaustive search, the two old duffers failed to find Shovlar but upon returning to Wimborne Road did uncover seven riders who went missing in the play offs.

  12. They seem a big improvement on Swindon's reserves!

  13. We wont have signed Nicol unless we have a plan, i suspect theres someone we need to fit in, i wouldnt call Ryan and Broc at reserve a mess to be honest.

  14. Maybe they didn’t get lucky with Perks and Jensen. Perhaps they do their homework and are able to provide an environment where riders improve and flourish.

  18. The only things true are that AE tweeted about the new Panthers logo and liked a tweet that said something along the lines of 'hope you're signing for us' from a Panthers fan. But he's also liked a tweet by a Robins fan about hoping he's not moving. Lol!

  23. Sensible team planning should be build from the top downwards not bottom up. By announcing Nicol it tells me that CVS and Adams know exactly what the full team is, and as usual will be a close to the points level as possible. Now I might not exactly like the final 7 riders, but in no way is it a 'mess'.

  24. Haha very good but I find it abhorrent that you would think I would do anything in association with Starman!

  25. Really? You think it was obvious that he was going to improve to the magnitude that he did? Best do the lottery on Saturday if so.

  30. So Todd it is. I do hope he ends up our number 7 as he should do the business for us there around Owlerton. He's probably been saddled with an average just above what I'd expect of him in this league, but with Todd you've got a rider who can really pull it out of the bag at home and beat riders you wouldn't expect him to.

  31. If Swindon kept the fans in the dark about there team building there would be regular annual moans about it our club in that respect is terrific.Surely your club should of learned the feeling of some of your fans last year that they want to be regularly imformed about the team even if it is bad news or no news.It seems strange to me Swindon/ Sheffield have showed the way and it keeps people buzzing over the new year waiting for April to arrive. As a business ploy goes keeping the fans in the dark seems very odd to me.

  32. Bit awkward that we have more riders on loan to you guys than you do to us.

  33. Great to see a big Premiership club prepared to loan their asset to a much smaller Championship club who have fallen on hard times. Is it true there is going to be a partnership between Swindon and Poole similar to football where the big Premiership clubs loan out their fringe players to clubs nobody has heard of e.g Chelsea players to Vitesse Arnhem. Would you welcome being a feeder club for the Robins?

  34. Glad Stefan got signed up by you Pirates. He has been a pleasure for us to watch at Scunny and will do a great job for you. A genuine nice guy, modest and a sharp wit. We will miss you Stefan, on track and post race meetings, Have a good season in 2020, but don't come back and score well at the EWR.

  36. I fully agree with those who say it is essential to keep the National League in business, but if this is to happen, then it has to be at a sustainable level for ALL of the clubs whether they be standalone or reserve teams of clubs from the Premiership or Championship. There has to be a cap on abilities at both the top and bottom end of the teams. Supporters don't like losing their star men, and I appreciate this, but allowing riders who are clearly too good for this level of racing to stay at the comfort level of the league is doing the competition no more favours than is pushing in young, inexperienced riders who are not ready. As we all know too well, continually sending out 10 point men and 2 point men against two 6 point opponents will give drawn races and usually a close scoreline - but it won't provide good racing - and the more 10 pointers allowed to stay in the National League will only push up the pay rates even further. The league is only as strong as its weakest member, so if the financially weaker clubs are left to drop out one by one, the league has no future.

  37. The NDL has been a good training ground because it had a mix of young riders learning their trade helped by the old hands who knew they would probably never move into the higher leagues but enjoyed racing and passing on their knowledge to the youngsters. Maybe there needs to be a limit on over 25 or 30 year olds in the league but they are an important part of the development of the young riders. The older riders also improve the standard of racing and help the stand alone clubs provide a spectacule that is worth watching on a regular basis. Making the NDL into a juniors only league would see it vanish faster than a GP rider after he is told how much he can earn in the Premiership.

  44. Problem is though Baggy, people can see other clubs NOT signing the rider's we had last season. That means one thing, they're either back at King's Lynn again or Peterborough. Fans rightly so should worry about the losses made at Peterborough having an effort on what can be employed at King's Lynn, all honesty, only 3 of last seasons team would get a sniff of re-employment at any other club except King's Lynn it seems. Is like a Kindergarten club, "no matter how bad you were, you're more than welcome back next year". Fans have seen how this club has been run since the loss of Jonny Chapman and/or Rob Lyon. It's massively gone backwards. Make the Play-Off's one season, instead of building on it, we employ the same ols s#!+ the next season. Always backward steps after a bit of progress.

  45. Am I the Cradley person? You had better not be calling me the Wolves person. I'm skeptical, sure, Harris frustrates, Castagna frustrates, for different reasons. I have no idea what to expect from Jonasson. At his best he is (or was) a class apart from most CL riders. Yet, he's only 31. How can he have dipped so badly when Hancock is still winning GP's nearing 50? Garrity & Shanes, will entertain but miss the gate crucially too often (like Harris).
