  1. Yeah saw that seems settled at Berwick so was a no brainer , he wasn't in our plans it seems or he maybe wanted to remain at Berwick himself , either way good luck to Spud and Berwick always gave his all for us.

  2. Perhaps now is the time to say that NDL lads stepping up to the CL should be 'protected' by keeping them at reserve for their first season?

  5. And that was why Paul was crucial for the team - heat 14 wins. Sometimes I can't understand some of the 'comments/ criticism' that appears on here. If Paul scored well it tended to mean Claus didn't and vice versa. Claus was criticised mid way thru the season as having his usual dip yet by the end of the season he was incredible and had upped his average which, with due respect, at his age is something to be proud of.

  7. This is an absurd line of argument from Castagna too. My simple question is: "If that's the case then what new and wider audiences were attracted by the 25pts for the winner system in the early 2000s?" Show us the evidence, show us the market research.

  8. Sorry for delay in replying, been away for the weekend. I have a business supplying food for vending machines, & buffets for companies & private parties. The vending machine food is filled rolls, sandwiches, wraps, pies, cakes etc. It has been established 18 years, & I have never ripped off any of my customers. Your turn.

  9. Think those you mentioned plus Matej Kus; Kenni Larsen and Jonas Raun are still on the books; I would suggest Steve Park or Tsunami could fill the picture in further better than I could... Regards THJ Oh and what about Claes Nedermark and Anton Rossen?

  10. Id have Paul back as well. think he struggled a wee bit at home due to his engines but had just hit form when he suffered a really bad injury. From what I could see he is also a good team man. In the end it will be decided by the points limit but if it is 42 or 42.50, Paul to me would be a no brainer.

  12. I agree. This is change for change sake. I can't help but think that this is just the result of fresh blood within the SGP organisers who - like a lot in elite sport - want to be seen to be making their contribution. This is the result of that, not the greater good of the series. I am a fan of the SGP and the job that IMG/BSI have done. But the area of real stagnation is in venues. On the face of it, Togliatti is progress. But in recent years, we have lost Stockholm, Copenhagen, Australia and New Zealand. The trend is regression rather than progression on that front. A new scoring format can't smokescreen the SGP retreating to traditional audiences rather than expanding to new audiences. That's the major failure of the SGP organisers and one in which IMG's global reach really should have been able to unlock by now.

  15. Yes I am talking about Rasmus Jensen . He has hardly pulled up any tree in the Uk before this season and may not next season. i think turning your nose up at someone of King or Lawsons calibre to replace a rider who until this season has spent his uk career as a second string is a bit snobby to say the least.

  18. Lets not forget that BSI/IMG are right in the middle of a tender process for a further 10 years from 2022, so maybe the FIM wanted it and they said yes sir, great idea.

  20. WOULD probably subscribe to the view that if it "ain't broke, then don't fix it" as far as the SGP is concerned. Never had a problem with the winner of a particular round not necessarily being the highest scorer. Each SGP is its own event. The accumulation of points is what determines the World Champion. As far as the SON is concerned, understand why the FIM wanted to broaden the number of participating countries in the finals stages, an incentive for young riders in the lesser nations to ride on the top stage. My real beef is with the name ... just call it the Speedway World Cup.

  23. Those two often exchange banter on twitter they seem to get on well. Obviously you can read far too much in to this kind of thing but there’s little bits here and there that all point to a move being more than possible. Louis knows Klindt would be an asset to our side seeing as how well he rides the place. Nigel Pearson revealed on BT that Louis had told him he was fearful of Klindt doing the damage before the play offs as he was so good there. You’ve also got little things like this from yesterday You can interpret that in different ways I suppose but like I say, all the little things that all add up. I’ll hold my hands up if I’m wrong but I’m almost certain he’ll be a Witch next year.

  25. Very little if anything goes on there now on a big scale. The nhs used their facilities for donkeys years lots during the week for training etc but not even sure that takes place there anymore. The area is grim now and sadly had speedway ever been a consideration when it was built in the early 90s, it would have probably succumbed by now anyway.

  31. Just the one point to argue with you"thj" yes the 1980 comets were poor but we had some great racing with boys against men esp one night against Newcastle and it came at great cost to " eddie" but he kept the sport going and for that we will always be gratefull.

  32. Good middle order rider wouldn't mind if Paul came back but there is always a but he seems one of those riders that seems to be unlucky injuries wise , the past two seasons this has curtailed him and has severely affected us as a team. He was a big miss when he got injured at the British final as he was the cog in the engine room of the team with Claus sorely missed his points after that.

  33. Poland keep under 21 riders at reserve regardless of ability, points scored, or how poor a main body rider has performed. They reap the rewards with multiple GP standard riders and domination of the world cup. We push our youngsters up into the main body ASAP and have half of them pack it in halfway through the season. The only GP standard riders we have both learned their trade abroad. Yes, keeping them at reserve would be a terrible idea.

  35. I agree if its tight but if a rider has 11 or 12 after 4 heats a dropped point or two wont matter. He'll still get 1st pick. It will happen or at least a suspicion. Particularly if the rider who is helped is gunning for the title. Only top 6 qualify for 2021 so up to 9 riders may have little to race for.

  41. Castagna is really really bad for the sport. He is misleading it in a totally wrong direction. Speedway is such a special sport - a team Sport first adn foremost - and as such is absolutey different to any other from of motorsport. That's why I am a speedway fan and couldn't care less about road racing or motocross. They ususally only have one long distance race and have to award championship points for that. Speedway has 20+ heat races, plus semi and final, were the riders EARN their points. Perfectly easy to understand. And the winner of the last race in a Gradn Prix (the final heat 23) is the winner of that particular SGP, regardless of the points total scored in all of his races during this meeting. By the way, the winner of that final race DOES actually get the most points (in that race, that is) - three points , compared to two points for second and one for the third. So what, if the rider who wins the final, has not scored the most points on aggregate from all of the races he has ridden that night, nothing wrong with that. It's perfectly fair that he does not automatically get the most points, when he has got beaten more often than another rider/riders. There is absolutely no need to award artificial points in Speedway. I hate this stupid stupid decision by the FIM. Castagna has to go. First they abandoned the hugely popular SWC and gave us a "Speedway of Nations" to fall in line with the "Motocross of Nations", "Flat Track of Nations" and "Enduro of Nations", and now they spoil the SGP by changing from a perfectly fair points scoring system to a totally unfair and unwanted artificial one. I'm fed up. What's Your next idea, Mr Castagna? Do us all a favour and please, please resign from Your position !!!
