Have to disagree with you on that one under no circumstances should any object be thrown the culprit being ejected may be the least of his worries, a lifetime ban should hopefully follow . As for the wheelies the lad had just went from last to first to clinch the title personally i wouldn't begrudge him that.24 points

Glasgow pretty much pressed the self destruct button in the final over the 2 legs right from the start (of both meetings) with countless points thrown away which in hindsight could have seen them as comfortable winners. I'm not saying Leicester were lucky as there's no luck in touching the tapes or falling off or knocking your team mates off and some may argue in engine failures also... but Leicester have such a solid side with a great blend of youth and experience that any dropped points prove almost impossible to claw back. It was my first visit to Ashfield and I have to say the whole place oozes professionalism from the moment you turn up at the stadium you can tell that promotion have put in so much effort. This should be the model that all other clubs aspire to... if only they could find a way to make it pay! Watching the 2 legs of the final reminded me how good the sport of Speedway can be and why I love it.10 points

Nobody can surely dissagree that from a spectator and overall entertainment perspective the two legs of the Championship final were head and shoulders above that of the Premiership? Even though both Championship legs had clear winners at both meetings, the lower tier version produced far far more drama, tension and dare I say it hope on either side. A great advert for the sport and one which the large crowds definately enjoyed. Well done to both sets of riders and management for making it possible.9 points

I quite liked Workington as a club, enjoyed my visits there but the relentless pish from their basket cases has changed all that.8 points

Firstly can i say a huge congratulations to Leicester on their win, better team over the 2 legs and deserved their victory. Far too many last places over the 2 legs for us and ultimately it cost us. With all the early exclusions tonight I never felt like we ever built up any momentum, barely gated in a heat advantage position all night. Might of got a bit of luck in ht 6 with the Douglas exclusion, I felt that could of went either way. Heat 13 masterclass from Cook, not that we would expect any less but still simply sublime. Onto the final blow in heat 14 and what a ride from young Ellis Perks. To clinch the league in that manner, as much as it hurts us Tigers fans you can't help but doff your cap to the young man for a ride like that, absolutely fair play. Also would like to say what a show of sportsmanship from Lawlor to get the bike off the track when the Tigers were on a 5-1, really wouldn't of blamed him at all if he had stayed down to force a re run, that was a touch of class. I dunno what happened at the weekend between him and the fans down at Leicester but again I have to hold my hands up and say fair play to him for that. Looking back and noted that we gained +12 points in heat 13 & 15 over the two legs but still it wasn't enough. So if that doesn't tell you that the best 'team' won then I don't know what will. Once again congratulations Leicester and enjoy your night!7 points

It is extremely tedious and a sad reflection on society were people continually try to criticise people for trying to better the sport. The bitterness about Glasgow from people on here is crazy. Glasgow fans weren't putting the boot into Laura when she spent a fortune on Workington were they?6 points

Well done Leicester on their victory. I will disagree with the people saying they were clearly the best team over the year. Glasgow's bad luck was the factor they topped the league. Sam Jensen falling in ht 14 @ Leicester robbed us of a win there. As to the circus freaks of Workington laughing at the Tigers, it has been a pleasure giving you something to talk about over the season. There is nothing but jealousy coming from your direction towards Glasgow. The snide remarks about money etc. The Glasgow promotion are a credit to the sport, setting the benchmark for other teams to follow. Absolute professionalism. How did the Worky business model work??6 points

Well done to Leicester, always good to see the team who finished top ending up as champions. Also well done to Glasgow fans for their dignity in defeat and not biting to any of the garbage posted on the thread by people whose teams were nowhere near the final, seems that jealousy will never go away.6 points

Absolutely jealousy. Has been there since Glasgow were bought, all very sad. People don’t take joy in another team losing for any other reason, they wouldn’t care either way otherwise.5 points

Maybe rise above it and be the bigger person? Stay classy. Be better not bitter. Taking delight in another team’s heartbreak is not a good look and makes it worse for the genuine and pleasant Glasgow fans on here who have to read all the tripe.4 points

Congratulations to Leicester who came through regardless of the injuries suffered to key personnel during the season. It was a case of so near yet so far for the Tigers. I went to Ashfield confident they would overturn the deficit and the fans must be sorely disappointed they just failed to do enough. All season long the Tigers have been mighty in heats 13 and 15 and I couldn't see it being any different. This should have meant that the Tigers needed 5 extra points from somewhere to lift the trophy which should have been within there capabilities. The fact that Leicester held on was quite simply because second strings Perks and Proctor were head and shoulders above Andersen and Sam Jensen who scored just 4 points between them. It surely would have been different with a fit Paul Starke. A rare fall from Rasser wasn't in the script either and I thought he never looked completely comfortable on a track that appeared both slick and a bit greasy. Cookie and Claus Vissing in particular who probably rode the best I've seen him were superb. These 3 were well supported by young Kyle Bickley who like in last seasons final for Worky contributed significantly when it mattered and completely outshone Connor Bailey who will have been disappointed with his 1 point from 3 tally. Watching how it played out on track I think there maybe something in the notion that 'self imposed' pressure may have adversely affected certain members of the team, even the front page of the program was titled 'time to be heroes' or something similar. Mishaps in the first half of the meeting resulted in a self inflicted inability to build any momentum until is was all a bit too late. Leicester's man of the meeting was undoubtedly Ellis Perks who gave it everything. The way he came from last to first in heat 14 to clinch the trophy when the Tigers were on a 5-1 would have sent the Lions fans delirious. Trophies are often won as a result of fine margins and I think the Tigers will look at this and think that they beat themselves, that was the impression I left with anyway.4 points

Gavan You're just as bad as steve at times as you've taken his comment and reworded it to a way in which you can pick him to bits He said it's more important to the home team to have a regular 1-7 which is true, 99% of the crowd will be the home crowd wanting to watch their 7 If the away side has two guests then it's not the end of the world to the home side if you are wanting to cheer on your home teams 1-7 He didn't even suggest that he wants to see poole beat weakened teams 5-1 each race, you should know more than most that sometimes with away guests you end up stronger than usual as you can guest in track specialists. What that does however is make a mockery of the sport and league table I'll agree with that, as it's your oppositions riders who have helped a rival club gain league position... cant see aguero banging in 30 goals for tottenham to help them finish top 4 then getting his Title winning medal for City4 points

Honestly Good luck to Sheffield Berwick definitely are not going up Finally why would Kent go up? cant start until 6.30 with an 8.30 curfew!!! two tape infringements and the extra track grading required to keep the "prima donnas" happy and most meetings will be abandoned by heat 8 with no result declared or standing CVS shouldn't have said anything its not his right to say what other clubs might or might not be doing (Naughty Man) Regards THJ4 points

Definitely something in that . The whole way the meeting was presented last night was aimed at whipping the crowd and the riders into a frenzy . The singing , the flares , the whole pre match stuff had the adverse effect on our younger team members . Sam Jensen was all over the place , Connor Bailey had a nightmare meeting . The Rasmus Jensen fall in heat 4 killed us , he seemed to hit something on bend 3 which caused the loss of control . The Douglas exclusion could have gone either way , if ever the all 4 back option could be extended to the end of lap 1 , there was the perfect example of a good argument for it . But a thrilling contest between the best two sides in the league produced fitting champions . But if only Paul Starke hadn't got injured .4 points

Well done Leicester , fitting the team that tops the league wins the title . It was a cracking meeting tonight . Our three heat leaders were excellent , just needed more than Kyle Bickley backing them up . For Leicester Perks had the best meeting I've ever seen him have and he had solid back up . Oh well that's it over for another year , and another year we've not quite managed to win anything , but it's been a really enjoyable journey this season , roll on 20204 points

You. my friend, prove why I still go to speedway after nearly 50 years. A true fan who acknowledges good racing, real sportsmanship and real speedway when he sees it. Tonight saw two quality sides go head-to-head for the trophy we all want. Leicester won, of course, but the real winner was all of us. Even "watching" on updates was nail biting. So as a Leicester fan (till the Bees return) can I say, "Well done to Glasgow".4 points

A bit of gloating going on from fans of various teams. Unsavoury. Yes Glasgow oozes professionalism but owning your own stadium goes a long way to what you can do with your facility. The Faccennas ploughed mega bucks into Ashfield; other promotions don’t have that financial background. It would be great if we did. Don’t think any fans of any team should post about a closure of a track. We need as many teams as possible in our sport. Again well done to both teams and congratulations to Leicester, topped the table, tactically sound last night, worthy winners.3 points

Jealousy ....don't be so ridiculous I can't see any post from the 3 usual suspects congratulating Leicester and taking it with dignity in defeat , they leave themselves wide open to criticism , only shouting when they're winning then go into hiding when they lose .... Honestly What a fantastic opportunity for Sheffield and their fans. Good luck as you head off to pastures anew. Enjoy the experience and here is wishing you all the success for the future. I will miss my visits to Owlerton but as it's only a couple of hours down the road I may be tempted down just to see the big boys ride. All the best THJ3 points

If Paul Starke had been riding .... If Rasmus Jensen hadn't fell ... If ... If .... well who's to say if Richie Worrall had been riding then he may well have done a lot better than his brother did on the night and in any case it doesn't matter because Lions won ...... Gotta say that Glasgow were a strong team over the two legs but not as strong as us !2 points

If Glasgow didn’t have Scottish referee Jim McGregor looking after them in the league match at Glasgow vs Leicester then Leicester would have won there some very dubious decisions then in heat 15 Harris cleared crossed the line before the Glasgow rider. So your argument is irrelevant. Face facts Leicester were the better team over the whole season when it came to the play off’s they were not scared they picked the 2nd strongest team in the league Redcar for their semi final opponents because they feared no-one. More league points More League Wins More points scored Less points conceded Better scores in the play off’s More injuries How can anyone say that Leicester were not the better side over the season2 points

I had to look this one up! Tuesday 30 July 1974. Weymouth v Crewe. Dave Morton won, from Kelvin Mullarky. Russell Foot third and Ian Cartwright fourth. A 3-3, in a time of 73.3. Weymouth won 41-37.2 points

I was speaking to a Polish colleague about that and how they all seem to speak such good English while we struggle with other Languages. He put it down to the fact that they are exposed to English constantly from an early age in the form of films and popular music so it was easier for them to learn whereas we are not exposed to to foreign languages in mainstream media or entertainment.2 points

Congratulations to the Lions 12 points just proved to much to claw back as i suspected. But take nothing away from Leicester best team over the 2 legs have won the title and fair play to them fully deserved. And finally Ellis Perks take a bow what a ride in heat 14 to seal it fantastic ride young man.2 points

No title at Glasgow this year, so well done Lions on the title. Plenty digs at the "money men" not winning the title but these individuals have just served up the most entertaining season of speedway I can remember. Makes them winners too I reckon.2 points

It does, but an away team with guests on a Friday or Saturday evening at the NSS will still generate a bigger crowd than a 'proper' away team on a Monday or a Thursday.. There's no real kudos in winning any Speedway League title in the UK, so it doesn't really matter who represents who.. Therefore, ride on the night you can make your most money, even if it's a bit contrived.. The fans who are still going regularly have shown that contrived septets don't prevent their attendance so it doesn't really matter to them if the teams are a bit cobbled together.. So ride on nights when most fans can get there... Its obvious the sport cannot run itself 'properly' as a genuine team sport due to a myriad of variable issues, so it might as well not even try running itself 'properly' and aim to get those who still attend now, but maybe not every match, to attend more often...2 points

Sorry Mike but can’t agree with you at all -Dave Rowe in my opinion is a top commentator, who knows Speedway inside out and never misses anything happening on track and because he uses Kandysoft software is always on top of permutations, qualification etc. I have to say that Nigel Pearson and Kelvin Tatum along with Dave Goddard all do a great job- we only have to think back to Jack Burnicle to realise that !!!2 points

Well done to Cookie tonight. Many congratulations to Leicester. They topped the table so fully merited the title. thought whoever had home leg first would have an advantage and I feel Leicester defended their 12 point home win with experienced riders and a more evenly balanced septet.1 point

The point with Poole dropping down is that speedway will remain. They are likely to have matches against Eastbourne, Somerset and possibly Plymouth all within easy travelling distance. Costs will be reduced but I do not think crowds will. Speedway in the Premier is now very expensive with riders demanding high money. Top foreign and home bred riders do not now ride in this country. The number of riders riding in both leagues appear to be increasing so how many riders will the crowds miss out on? Yes you will miss out on the expensive riders but so be it to keep speedway. Yes Elite racing was great racing when the like of Ward, Holder, Richardson, Magic plus many others were here but those days are long gone. The racing in the lower league at Somerset has been great with more racing than in the top league. Racing in the lower leagues was great when the Wildcats/Pirates were in the lower league and crowds were great. i would prefer speedway in this league instead of no speedway. Also TV will now be showing both leagues so exposure will still be there. Also it will be open to free view viewers as well as those of us who pay.1 point
