I fear it may be even longer than that.. I believe he is currently in Poole General holding a bed side vigil for Jack Holder... The diagnosis isn't good either.. A specialist was heard to say to one of the nurses that one of Jack's toes had "gone to market", whilst one had "stayed at home", another had seemingly had "roast beef", whilst another toe sadly "had none"... Most worrying though was that it is believed that the smallest of Jack's toes had gone "wee, wee, wee, wee, all the way home"!!!!27 points

As a lifelong Poole fan I would like to congratulate Ipswich on there stunning victory, no moans no groans & no hard luck stories just well done9 points

End of the day we all know (except Ipswich fans) the playoff final will be a poorer contest without Poole in it. Neutrals will have a couldn’t care less attitude about it. Wolves v Ipswich? Meh! Who wins who cares? Neutrals won’t give a flying toss. Swindon v Ipswich? Same. Other than the fans of these clubs no one else will really care. We all know with Poole in the final passions are raised sky high. There are no neutrals. And that’s the truth whether you like it or not.9 points

Does this result mean that Poole now have a spare date that they can run their round of the British Youth Championship on?8 points

Id like to know how you can hurt a toe, which is encased in boot which is also protected by a steel shoe. I said I was embarrassed at the time. Still am this morning. Karma came back and bit us on the backside. Justice. Ive said it before and happy to say it again, well done Ipswich. Fully deserved.8 points

I actually believe that there should be a league winners shield like in Rugby League, everyone will know that the Play Offs decide the champions but a bit of recognition for being the best team over the league programme would be appropriate IMO. Along with a bit of celebrating. Maybe it did spur Poole on a bit but I believe Lynn would have won the final comfortably if it wasn’t for those two injuries. Their name was definitely on it last year.5 points

Both sides contributed in their own way and whatever anyone thinks it was nip and tuck whether by design or otherwise and i will admit that I thought the witches had let themselves, the supporters and the town down on Thursday and based on the hype and Poole’s ability to pull the proverbial rabbit out of the hat most including me expected Poole to take it on aggregate. Ipswich take a bow for what was achieved last night and hearty commiserations to Poole who fought throughout the season and deservedly finished top of the league. All teams know the score and whilst Ipswich may be the first to knock out the team at the head of the leader board and it may be a bitter pill for Poole to swallow, it is what it is and hopefully both teams will come to the tapes in 2020 and live to fight another day. Many a supporter who have lost their teams despite the success can but envy what both the pirates and the witches have achieved. Good luck to Ipswich in the final and we look forward to welcoming Poole to Foxhall next year.5 points

You should congratulate them Starman. They won fair and square. No arguments there. It was our performance or non performance that cost.5 points

Great Fishing from Shov .normal suspects in the net5 points

Not if the same Poole team turn up as the one that didn't turn up on Saturday, Poole have had a great title winning run, so please have a little respect for all the neutrals who will be watching a final without Poole in it.5 points

Starry, no offence, but one minute you can't afford to go to Ipswich, & now it appears you have managed to find the funds to go to Rome with Shovvy !!!!!!!!!5 points

Well done the witches. The effort and commitment was excellent. Great stuff i honestly expected to get the wooden spoon when the team was announced. I am so pleased I was so wrong. Apologies for doubting the riders regardless of what happens in the final you have done yourselves and the town proud Congratulations5 points

That race from Sarj took a pair of balls the size of space hoppers given the conditions closing in, the situation and the tiniest of gaps to the fence5 points

When Holder pulled out with a sore toe I couldnt help but think about Harris getting run over at Wimborne Road and running back to the pits to win the re run. Compare the commitment5 points

I used to think shovvy was the most disliked person on here and that Starry was just a complete idiot, having read all the rubbish, I've changed my mind, starry is still a complete idiot, and probably the most disliked, a total clown, absolute buffoon, a monumental codpiece.4 points

I think you are missing the point that is being made. There is absolutely nothing wrong with any team choosing to celebrate however they want to. Psychology is an important element of sport and you have to accept that if you choose to celebrate at half time then the opposition manager will use it as a motivational technique.4 points

I know it’s starman so we have to make allowances but the irony of a Poole fan accusing any other club of having a moto x track4 points

To save British Speedway, we should seed Poole to the final at the start of the year and have 2nd v 3rd for the right to ride them for the title.4 points

You really are the village idiot, go and carry on sucking on your sour sweets. I gather you won’ t watch the final then, who cares if you do or don’t. Shame your riders didn’t raise their passions sky high last night. You can answer for a lot of neutral fans can you, a lot of neutrals will be glad you’re not in it. The playoff final will be better without Poole because the better team won.4 points
-
So the riders didn't celebrate? And the non existent celebrations didn't wind up the Ipswich team? P.S. I never said that Poole thought they had it "in the bag". I said they celebrated because they had got out of jail. I suggested that such celebrations might just get the Ipswich riders to think something like, "Well we'll see how you like it on Saturday".4 points

Who would take Kurtz knowing full well he wouldnt be giving everything plus when the chips are down he disappears. Pooles biggest mistake this season was the Worrall injury I said Poole were doing just fine with R/R at 2 and Covatti at reserve...............if Poole wanted a change it should have been immediate or not at all. Bringing in THJ at 6 and moving Covatti to 2 was an awful awful move..........as they hadnt made a change they should have run with R/R and Covatti at 6. Covatti limited to 4 rides..............instead of 7 ............and 2 reserves who wouldnt have extra rides because they werent good enough.....Nico at reserve at Foxhall last night could have made a difference Nice to see a Poole 2020 thread........us at Ipswich will wait a while yet!!4 points

On another note, Nico needs to come home next season.4 points

Sometimes in speedway its teamwork and commitment that counts more than ability and higher averages , last night both counted in spades4 points

Congratulations to Ipswich and I hope they go on to win the Play-Off Final. But it still seems crazy that a team that finished 4th in the league could possibly go down in the history books as league champions. As I said, I do want Ipswich to win the Play-off final, but to me, Poole are league champions this year, not Ipswich, Swindon or Wolverhampton, they should be separate competitions. I thought a couple of races were quite good, but what a terrible track for overtaking on, other than if someone makes a mistake, but sadly, to many tracks are like that these days.4 points

Fantastic from all the witches tonight, I really like the way we toyed with them, letting them have a big heat win every so often. It would be nice to do well in the final, maybe even win it. To be honest I wouldn't care if we didn't, tonight was my final, beating the oh so smugs, actually the oh so cheating smugs. Thank you to all the witches riders tonight, thank you. Ps, josh and a klindt would be great additions to next year's team.4 points

It’s either bullying or it isn’t. By isolating Gavan by asking him to post is no different to what you are accusing others are doing to Starman. Gavan often says he doesn’t see it as bullying and that’s his prerogative.By the same example no one is ‘ganging’ up on anyone else either. Some Poole fans have very thin skins when they are called out yet think it’s perfectly ok to attack and purposely goad others. Taking your own advice if Starman thinks he is being bullied then let him say so. Of course he won’t because it’s not the case.4 points

Just an observation. James Sarjeant was lauded for his point from the back in heat 14. But it's sobering to note that he outscored 4 of the Poole team and was paid for as many as Bomber from one less ride.4 points

Poole tried to cheat and it backfired serves them right.4 points

Huge congratulations to Ipswich. Fully deserved.4 points

Well done Ipswich and best of luck in the final. raining. Well done to Kurtz and Holder in riding like utter twats in the most important meeting of the season. a proper well done to Klindt and Josh and Nico for battling for the cause.4 points

Be honorable and congratulate ipswich they deserved it3 points

One thing I will say about you that you support your club home & away, respect for that. What pisses me off, that idiot Starman that his knowledge off speedway, if I'm being polite, is limited! Yes ok was not the best of racing last night, but the track was smooth. For that idiot star bollocks saying like a MX track is above me!!3 points
-
Thank you. I’ve tried to explain it the best way I can so I guess there is no hope. To ‘goad’ someone to reply by a group of posters is exactly the same . A rider that ‘can’t put weight on it’ then is seen walking on it in the pits is faking it, without question. Middlo I’ll bet was happy with his sulky and poor attitude because he knew IRR would help their cause. Holder was never going to ride his last 2 rides because of his attitude so Middlo was happy to accept that. Either way the actions were completely wrong. Very well said. Simply put, yes. Classic Shov troll. Disgraceful in defeat. Shocking and poor sportsmanship. Ipswich deserved the win, simple as.3 points
-
You are correct . Nicolai Klindt explained perfectly the reason for the celebrations. At 12 down they were rapidly heading out the play offs then to turn it round in a hour to end been 10 up and slap bang in the tie deserves celebrating. Any team in any sport would celebrate in the same way . To say they would not is just silly .3 points

Oh the fun of it Just watched this meeting back this morning after avoiding the result when out last night What a fantastic achievement for the league outsiders to beat the title favourites So on Thursday we had all the Poole fans hammering on about what an amazing team manager he was to motivate his team to win the meeting.................where was Middlo last night???.....he had Kurtz woeful , the reserves woeful and Holder basically sticking 2 fingers up at him........a good team manager would have motivated those boys, made Holder ride .....and pulled the meeting out the bag Hawkins has been poor in some decisions this season but to see his team throw away a lead to then be able to motivate them into doing that last night....well perhaps he can show Muddlo how to do it. Poole have twice won at Foxhall this season , once with a weakened team............how can a team manager see his team go missing in a final......i think Middlo thought job was done Klindt , Josh and Covatti aside that was a shocking inept attitude from the Poole riders......look at Sarjeant riding his socks off last night , Wells and Kurtz should be ashamed. I have many times said Kurtz goes missing when the pressure is on...........seems i was right again Oh and who said Heeps has been awful since moving out of reserve.......7+3 from 4 rides.........lol great performance again. How did Poole mess this season up? Questions need to be asked A team hot favourites at the start and all the way up until the end of July.......finish top of the league and blow it............first team in history to finish top and not make the final......... I see Shovlar is saying Poole are the better team..........crap..........you simply were beaten over 2 legs by a BETTER side......blaming anything and everything.......why dont you go off to Rome again....... Kurtz and Holder need to get away from Poole, neither like the track and their careers have gone backwards.............. Poole tried to cheat and failed ..............woop woop Ive even seen a Poole fan say that Ipswich bringing in Iversen is wrong............totally fine when Poole did it with Hancock though............ For all you decent Poole fans on here...........im sure your team will be up there again next season But my last words are saved for the disappearing Starman....................CHOMP CHOMP CHOMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!3 points

Would not want him at Swindon, he is unreliable and would only be dropping his average for a return to Poole the following year3 points
-
Fact is the result is good for G.B. speedway, success needs to be spread around. All teams should start the season pretty equal - therefore leading to potential equal success @ the end. Poole's domination of the league during Matt Fords reign has been great for Poole but bad for G.B. speedway in general.........3 points
-
Of course they’re excuses! The only “reason” Poole didn’t make the final, is because over the two legs they were beaten by the better side. It’s pretty simple.3 points
-
Wah wah wah wah Charlie Brown, more excuses for losing. Wrong weather, not having first leg, better team, better atmosphere at Poole. You are definitely one of those people where everything is better at your club, but it ain’t. You were beaten by the better team, end of. I say one thing you’re better at bending the rules, but this time cheats didn’t prosper3 points

When I first spoke to my publisher about producing a speedway book, I said I wanted to write one about Speedway in London. They asked me how many tracks were still open in London and I told them there weren't any, so they said they didn't think they would be able to sell it as they thought that a niche" book about speedway would only sell at speedway track shops. So we agreed that I should write "Speedway in East Anglia" instead as there were four tracks still open. They printed 1200 copies and sold out within two weeks and then sold a further 1200 in just about a month. What amazed them was that most of the sales were in "High Street" bookshops in Norwich where the track had long since closed. They then agreed to my Speedway in London book, which reached no.3 in the Sunday Times Sports Books chart. The moral is you don't need to be a bookshop near a track to sell books about speedway!3 points

People have to realise we had a monsoon on Friday and the track was literally under water. They done a fantastic job getting the track in the shape it was. BCD, the crowd was huge last night! And the atmosphere was electric, best I can remember for many many years. Seen a comment on here that the atmosphere was poor, can’t quite believe that comment. Maybe it came across that way on TV I don’t know, but certainly wasn’t the case at the stadium. Air horns are banned at Foxhall BTW.3 points

Gavin talks a lot more sense than you do most of the time3 points

Shovlar you state that the track was diabolical, but if your riders attack the track with the right attitude they would be able to ride it. Your two young aussie tarts are used to flat out slick European tracks and can't handle a track you have to use your throttle on. Did you speak to Niels to ask him if he was unhappy about the track? I question whether you are a far superior team to Ipswich as you have to have the right attitude to be that and Poole were found wanting in that tonight. Even you state in your post that Kurtz & Holder haven't battled through all season. You say that Ipswich were lucky with the weather before the first leg, nobody knows what the score would've been if it had been fine, you think 20 points but this is speedway and any thing can happen. You can't go on previous meetings as tonight proved.3 points
