  1. Congrats to Poole for finishing top of the league :) Looking forward to some very tough play off meetings ahead, the first hurdle being Ipswich who will be a different animal Monday. It’s not going to be easy over 2 legs but I hope we can push on and reach the final.

  2. He has very little chance of getting back to the gp's and wouldn't be any good if he did. His main focus has to be league racing now.

  3. I dislike Poole more than Ipswich, go Ipswich, wipe the smugness off the faces of these Pirates ....

  4. So I had a look at the Showground exhibition today and the initial plans look to build houses where the Speedway track currently is. However, they say that this will be starting in 2023 at the earliest. I think that is ambitious and there is clearly much concern from local residents about the existing infrastructure of the surrounding area and the effect 600 new homes will have. This could drag on quite a while. On the plus side, the local councillor was on local radio this afternoon and was adamant that any plans must involve keeping the Speedway Heritage in Peterborough (her words not mine). She was very committed in that Speedway is not overlooked, I was surprised, I didn’t know she was a fan. She was at the exhibition and I made myself known to her. She explained that there was a Local Planning order number 30 that requires any sporting activities (she said such as the Speedway) must be relocated before the existing site can be demolished and that she would be vigorously making sure this is followed. I was very impressed with her. Alas we all know and probably have experienced how developers and planners can operate, but I am confident our local councillor is going to be on the case for Speedway, which in all honesty is probably a lot better than I thought it would be at this early stage.

  5. The back injury was just prior to the 89 season I think whilst racing in Australia. Think he was lucky not to end up in a wheelchair. The Bees had to shuffle late on just before tapes up with Kai Niemi coming in. I think he officially retired after that injury but then made a come back towards the end of 1990? IIRC there was some animosity between him & Ole over TK racing/not racing with a broken arm in a Danish test match. Ole wanted him too, TK was reluctant but did only to pull out halfway through his first ride. I watched him from his first steps as a second half rider at 16 all the way through to the end of his Bees career. For me he was Mr Coventry Bee. so many great memories, beating Ivan Maurer in a tight match, Ivan being a tactical in the #2 & 7 race, Tommy being a raw #7. was a world class ride who had no luck in big meetings & always seemed to pick up niggly injuries when flying that always set him back that little bit.

  6. The art i suppose is recognising you have a problem with the track and addressing the problem. As SHOCKER says we need that track better than what is was last night to have any chance of beating Wolves we have racers in our team who need a good strip to ride on.

  7. I paid £19 on the day last year from the ticket office. They will have thousands of cheap tickets. Always do.

  9. Well Last night..... what's more disappointing is that we was actually in the meeting at the half way stage. Then we capitulated. I had to walk half way through heat 14. To angry and couldn't see them celebrate. We had gate 1, (9 times) in the 15 races and gate 1 was horrific. Not 1 win all night. Might aswell have not shown up at the tapes if you was on that. I think we had it in the last 4 races aswell which explains a bit of the capitulation. I was impressed with jye again. Deffo improved so should be at reserve next year. The track was poor sorry to say last night. Riders all over the shop (mainly ours) There just diddnt seem to be any team spirit. When our riders won a race. No acknowledgement, no celebration no nothing. You watch the Swindon lads and they just loved it. They wanted to be there. We diddnt. So season over on a whimper. AGAIN. year after year same thing. I still love this club though and support them through the tough times. But its wearing very thin now

  10. Were you there? There was no dust until about heat 13. Belle Vue battled well but the Robins are strong from heat 10 onwards & often rattle up big scores from 10 onwards to win meetings. Now to keep it close up at Monmore.

  11. Best crowd I've seen there for quite some time not the best racing but a good meeting due to the atmosphere. Just shows a big crowd helps massively

  12. Don't know whether I'm pleased or not that the season has finished, again pot-less as usual. So annoying when teams like Poole turn up and show us how it should be done. Each and everyone of their riders were dialled in and showed how much it mattered, what a pity we cant say that about out team.. Over the season we have witness some good performances but the dedication can always be questioned. Yeah, I accept we had injuries, but the team we put out tonight was woeful . I get fed up watching riders going through the motions. I don't mind losing, but lets lose with pride......

  13. Making the plays is already over achieving for us Witches in most peoples book To make the final would be an unrealistic hope when we have to take on the table toppers having just clung on to 4th by our fingernails Keeping the first leg within 20 will be the first task. Need it 10 or under to have any chance Whatever will be will be

  14. The worst thing possible would be to take Ipswich for granted. Therefore I'm sure Neil will have the boys up for it over the 2 legs. Job is only half done and still a long way to go without the Ipswich riders been given extra incentive with Poole appearing overconfident. personally I give respect to Ipswich for getting to the playoffs.

  15. Won’t happen. Too many selfish 2nd tier teams that have no ambition or cut their cloth accordingly. No other credible league has that many teams. The top league in the World has 8 (Poland) whilst Sweden have 1 more. No other league has more teams.

  16. You've finished top of the league, and your underdogs for the title ? Christ this record has worn out all of the grooves.

  17. What a shame - It looks like old TrackPrat has got the hump with Poole even worse than normal.....I wonder why

  18. We did not want several tons of shale, we did not want track records broken every week, we did not necessarily want to win the league . We wanted a team that we could be proud of and had half a chance of winning most home meetings. We certainly did not want to be the loss leaders of the Chapman master plan and possibly suffer the consequences.

  19. Don't get them started, i am sure they will let there feelings known after they take a beta blocker or 2 to get the blood pressure to a manageable level . Oh and brilliant stuff from Cookie and Razzer.

  20. Poole top the table over a full season but are underdogs in playoffs. Give it a rest when you beat Ipswich in semi you will be favourites in the final. Stop trying to ease the blow of choking.

  24. Makes sense for promotion and riders to go with Ipswich. Should then get two bites of the cherry. 4 pay days for the riders, plus a decent crowd for the semi followed by a pack house for the Swindon/Wolves final

  27. Im all for promotion of emerging riders (be that youthful or otherwise) however ive always been in favour of being good enough rather than young enough. Protecting riders has done no favours in the past whilst the Aussies have no comfort blanket at all and it is a pure case of sink or swim. There will obviously be riders lost by the wayside who are either no strong enough on or off the track but those that are left will ultimately have made the grade.

  28. They said Swindon would pick Poole not the other way around?
    1 point
  29. Poole should put the tie to bed in the first leg really but Ipswich have riders who could score a hatful if it clicks for them, expecting something like 52-38 but you never know.

  30. Really can't fathom out why the track was that poor last night? It has been excellent lately but to see the likes of Doyle Batchelor Fricke etc struggle to pass was frustrating...yes great to win a cup but I'm more bothered about the lack of racing lines which I hope reappear for the semi final as relying on gating against Wolves could be our only chance

  31. Nobody said Poole would pick Swindon. What was said was if Swindon finished top then they would pick Poole!!

  32. We all know what the man is like..........lets be honest he thought Kings Lynn were stronger last night with riders missing The man doesnt know anything and all he does is post to inflame by putting on totally different opinions to everyone else......sad and pathetic

  33. As for next year I’d like to see us build from the bottom, rather than the top. Get 2 Reserves in with the word progress stamped all over them. Nichol and the lad Pickering from Edinburgh would do it for me. Please no more Lambo, Anderson, Porsing. Etc. Lewi Kerr has reached his level so no improvement there. I’m hoping those ships have well and truly sailed. Lambert Riss and Palm Toft have 3 points at least to add between them. So that would be the opening 5 I’d want. What would that leave in terms of points for the other 2 places ?

  34. I don't think Greg is "done" yet with speedway at the top level inc the GPs. I hope they give him a wildcard and he is in for the season. He can still surprise a lot of people and with much of speedway being "in the mind", age is just another number. If he can still make those trademark starts he will win 50% of his races and that is doing well.

  35. Not a great meeting by recent standards, but it was a great night a healthy crowd and the place was buzzing. The track looked very slick and there were a few bumps here and there but the Robins found a way to win on aggregate in the end.Now we have one egg cup in the cupboard, the play/ offs await us one thing that did worry me a little was the Tobi/ Rasser partnership looking at there scores they looked solid but early on they looked vulnerable.Jensen although not at his best again battled hard and he is so exciting to watch capable of regular passes the crowd had to be between 1,6/900.???? how many do people think.?

  36. Strange to think that back in 2007, Swindon’s current top 2 were Poole’s number 6 & 7...

  37. Think you have that slightly wrong there....Poole have finished top 9 times since 2000....03,04,08,10,11,12,14,15 & 19....

  39. Buster wasn't there so was prepared by A N other. You could tell.I said i thought the Swindon match was the slickest i have seen it for some time.Well this one beats that, that was like a Southern track, track.Played into Pooles hands, suppose it showed with Wells getting a race win. Was Harris testing engines for the semi's?Watch out Poole. He was swapping from one engine to another. We need a bit of a clear out for next season.Jorgensen was one of the ones i thought had to go.But after talking to him tonight what a great man to have a chat with.I've had a bit of a change of heart.I asked if he wanted to come back which of course he does(probably knows he will be paid).I said his away form has to improve,to which he said he realises that and that is the biggest thing to work on and more. But he absolutely loves the Lynn track,he said he can't understand why some riders just don't like riding a grippy track,he loves it he wished other tracks were the same.I must admit i have never seen a rider go so fast into the bends as he does. Roll on 2020 and lets not be too loyal, lets get a team that can challenge for the play-offs.

  42. I quite enjoyed the competition regardless of the outcome. The Twitter element is good fun and has led to a few amusing moments. The competition does favour top heavy sides though. Good luck for next season as I've a lot of time for BV.

  43. A 12 team top league is 22 league fixtures which would be better, if they go 8 or 10 they double up the fixtures and I think one it's too many fixtures and secondly it's boring
    1 point
  44. What is this fixation with a 12 team top league? None of the other main European leagues have as many as 12 teams. 8-10 would be good though, but then its all down to what level ie points limit, is set?! If the top league sticks with Monday/Thursday as priority nights then it indicates they still want to attract riders that also ride in Europe on the other nights and the bigger the league the more they will need those riders. I don't mean the really top guys - those days are gone until the Polish bubble bursts - but Polish 2nd strings/reserves,Swedish, Danish, Czechs etc and of course the Aussies will still be very much in demand

  45. North one outside of Glasgow cares less about Craig Cook , decent rider who could have achieved a lot more than he has had he learnt from his many mistakes , terrible attitude who nearly all riders in the British leagues dislike, which is obvious when they race against him as hardly anyone acknowledges him when the race is over
