  1. Craig Cook just been an idiot again, track staff were repairing damaged fence by starting gate plenty of people on track, Cook rode round to the starting gate even though referee put red lights on. Clerk of course walked up to him and told him he had to leave and he didn’t, so clerk of the course pulled his cut out.

  2. It was a year ago today Dan Bewley broke his leg in 9 places as well as shoulder and wrist. What a day to break track record!

  5. That and the continued watering down of the product.

  6. No T/S if you needed them and very limited choice if you get another injury. Don't worry Gav I know Ippo haven't got that much experience of the play-offs but trust me Poole have.

  8. Well that is some unexpectedly bad news, just in time for Home and Away v Poole. Douglas the Lurpak trumpeter? Desmond Douglas the table tennis player? Carl Douglas the singer of Everybody was Kung Fu fighting? Douglas is not Bart Zmarzlik.

  9. I think it does personally. We still have A strong reserve now Allen drops back there, and Sargeant actually rides Ipswich pretty well. If he doesn’t, he’ll get three rides and Allen will get an extra ride. In theory anyway! Getting Iversen in may also give the others a lift, particularly Harris who should now feel less pressure and gets away from number 1.

  11. Total thrashing, could have hit 70. Another good crowd and Swindon go top. Ippo were embarrassing. Vissing won rider of the night. Record Premiership score this season, home and away against the Witches. Go Robins!!!

  12. Is the manager really that clueless? Why oh why does Louis (supposedly in charge) not do what any right minded individual would do? A sad indictment of how a great name like Ipswich has plummeted in a once decent sport which unfortunately has little credibility left and partly because of one mans ambition to keep a third rate higher division going at any cost. Speedway in this country is not on the same level as most overseas nations and should by now have learnt to plough its own furrow. Each club suffers from irregular weekly speedway which affects the form of many riders (albeit double up helps but also raises the risk profile for a team) fixed race nights are a failure as far as numbers through the gate is concerned (you have the odd exception) and more often than not each meeting is a team of either six men plus Mr R/R thereby short changing the paying public or you have rider select. Little wonder even the stalwarts are walking away. Also rans is how to sum up the witches and they might just as well have a clear out now as they have little else to commend the continuation in the current league structure. Buy in an overseas rider by all means but get rid of the dead wood in the team.

  13. Sheer madness to have R/R at 5. Always put it at two and have a strong rider in heat 8. Plus if you lose a reserve you are in the deep stuff

  17. According to the proboards site, 25 August 2018. That, however, is nit picking. I saw the crash at Workington and it was truly awful - I was actually relieved that his injuries were what they were. To break the track record today would have been a fantastic achievement no matter what. To do it after what happened is a remarkable one.

  19. I think there may be a lot of truth in that, but it is also true that there are less and less and less fans, at all of those tracks, because the truth is that only two or three races in any meeting are worthy of the name. That is one of the main reasons why the number of UK supporters has plummetted over the last 10 to 15 years. Domestic UK speedway is increasingly perceived as poor VFM.

  21. I do not understand what some of the BV fans are whinging about. BV needed to stop KL getting anything out of this meeting, which we did. As far as I am concerned Job Done. Lastword is the only one to get it right. Apart from all the delays I quite enjoyed us stuffing someone up for a change.

  29. For me Lindback will not get a wild card Madsen, Zmarzlik, Emil, Vaculik, Freddie, Dudek.............those 6 seem safe Magic, Laguta, Kolodziej, Doyle........2 of those 4 will qualify Tai and Hancock will get 2 wildcards I would imagine the other 2 wildcards could be the 2 riders that dont make it out of the 4 i listed 7th, 8th 9th and 10th (currently Kolodziej and Doyle) The only other rider who may be considered is Lambert , but i only see him getting a wildcard if firstly Greg retires or secondly the organisers dont go for Laguta or Kolodziej if they finish outside the top 8 People with a lack of knowledge bang on about 'new blood'..would love the names of these 'new blood ' riders who could make the series better and be competitive

  30. Just seen this event is taking place next Saturday. The text on Facebook reads ‘Come and celebrate 90 years of Exeter Falcons with your favourite Falcons rider past and Present. Tickets are £10 and can be purchased from the Royal Oak, Plymouth Gladiators track shop or any Exeter Falcons Development League meeting. The day/evening will include an auction of speedway memorabilia, private speedway collectors displays, buffet, disco, interviews and much more.’ The attached flyer should also help. Hope this is well supported and everyone has a great day.

  33. Wells unfairly excluded. Game over tonight with no Josh. But we were chasing anyway. Just lost the chance of a point. Hope Josh is ok and it’s just precautionary.

  37. Thomas rode 34 matches for Edinburgh, which is a fair record, given two injury periods. Bandits need him for five. We'll be fine.

  38. I was there are the we in 2016 when Iversen go the track record. That Friday evening the racing was really boring, but put right by the Saturday night Final. Could the track have been prepared to give BV a home advantage?

  43. He’s great is Bomber, watching him win at Cardiff was possibly the most enjoyment ever had at a sporting event. However seeing him last night the length of the straight behind the others was very sad. I hope he concentrates on making some money and enjoying his racing going forward

  44. Yes lets have riders like Aspgren and Pavlic and Bjerre and Michelson ...riders who didnt qualify and beaten by better riders in Iversen and Zager I want the top 15 in the world and Zagar and Iversen certainly are right now Please enlighten us as to who you would have that would make the series better?

  46. Thomsen back odviously he hasn't shown he is good anough yet, also the Dane is aloud to have a stint at reserve. What real shabby treatment Nathan Stoneman and Danyon Hume have been dealt this season really poor we should be helping our lads not hindering them.

  47. I can’t believe I have just wasted time reading this Big Boaby/Doctor discussion. This is exactly what should be kept to private messages. Any speedway chat would be great. The “i’m Telling the mods” stuff is chronic.

  48. A think if any appeal, based on the evidence on the BSF, was to be heard in a proper court, with normal people,,, Mr Cook would walk away a free man.

  49. The SKY coverage during the first 10 years at least should have put speedway on a sound footing. Had real business people been running the sport, no doubt it would have done. For two-to-three years from 1999 there were real signs speedway was on the up. Crowds seemed to be improving and SKY really did recognise viewing figures were good for its network of channels. We had our faces painted and kids were let in for a quid on the evening SKY rolled up for a live broadcast. There did seem to be a hint of proper promoting by those who had lazily worn the tag for yonks beforehand. But it didn't really last. It drifted into being taken for granted, speedway being on TV every week, and sometimes twice. I felt the sport - promoters and fans - thought SKY and the influx of cash would always be there. We even began having long faces when certain matches weren't on SKY, despite all they had done for us. Fans began getting picky when commentators were pronouncing riders' names wrong, or if certain teams featured more than theirs. That afternoon SKY had its cameras set up for the Riders' Championship at Coventry, when the promoter was scrambling on the floor looking for the dummy he'd just spat out, that was the final nail for SKY. They had so many rained-off meetings towards the end, I believe they decided to cut their loses. They were a professional broadcasting company working within an amateur sport. They couldn't drag it up to their level. For example, how many times did live matches overrun? BT have only half-heartedly accepted it, but we should be thankful for small mercies and not start bickering of who's doing a bad job and who you'd like to see on the panel. I often look at some of the dross SKY are covering during the summer months and cannot believe how the sport messed up its opportunity and is no longer featured. As a fan, I don't really know the ins and outs. But I do recall the amount of money SKY used to shell out setting up all the gear, and then the match was washed out. They aren't a charity and won't put up with it. BT also. I look at speedway, 20 years after SKY could have saved it, and see a dangerous shortage of riders with clubs having to share them, like the last cigarette being passed around by kids behind the bike sheds. I see clubs going weeks without a match in the height of summer, which will surely mean some fans will simply get out of the habit and get used to the cash in their pockets. Meanwhile, fans are expected to tune in to the GPs and see many of the riders (or their type) who put two fingers up at Britain and merely used it like a Tom Cat when the female was in season. Fans are expected to turn up trackside and support riders in their team who aren't even their riders. It's like visiting someone in hospital you don't know and wishing them to get better. It's not someone you know and love. In fact, you ask yourself why bother turning up at the bedside every week to wish someone you don't know get better. Looking at British speedway right now, I see remnants of what might have been, ghosts of live matches on SKY and all the missed opportunities. That could have been the sport's saviour. It should have. But look at it now. How many lives does it have remaining for British speedway to mess up?
