In the absence of Alpen, we will will be massive underdogs for this fixture. I just hope that we can pull together and sneak 3 points. Copyright: Steve Shovlar c/o Piaza Navona. Rome.7 points

But that would give us Thomsen, Aspgren and Loktaev instead of Zagar, Iversen and Doyle. Is that really the way to improve the GP series?5 points

Leads you to believe? Its a fact. And no, i am not a Poole supporter whatsoever . I just like to pass comment when people seem to slag off Poole for no reason , doesnt mean I support them. I dont think i could ever support a club that has Lisa Collette and Starman as fans to be honest .5 points

Of course current GP riders should be allowed in the Challenge. It’s only top 8 in the GPS that are guaranteed a place the next year. It’s up to those riders outside of this years 15 to prove themselves worthy of a spot next year, and that means beating those 9-15. If they can’t do that it means they really in position 16 and downward.4 points

Then perhaps it should be included in the next GP TV contract, as a service to the loyal followers of the sport. If we can have meaningless practice sessions televised (I know the cost is marginal with the cameras already there), there must be a way to provide the pictures and show one of the most significant individual meetings of the season outside the GP itself. One Sport can get their irrelevant meetings televised, even if in Britain we're supposed to be grateful to see more than a couple of races. As for those practice sessions, the hype is truly at desperation level and was beautifully punctured by Woffinden at the last GP. Practice timings work in a sport with grid positions or where timing is essential . Neither have ever been relevant in speedway, well unless you include 'fastest second' from the days of second half Rider of the Night events..... Yes it's good for the sport to get an extra hour. The interviews are the only point of interest to me. I'd rather have three hours of highly significant racing tonight, involving the only stats that matter in speedway, 3 for a win, 2 for second, 1 for third. EDIT: Secondary thought: Surely Dorna are there for FIM TV? They have been in the past so if that is still the case the question of finding someone to televise it would be academic. The FIM TV highlights package used to be sold to channels such as Motors TV, like their ice racing coverage. #;4 points

Its pretty apparent which Poole fans are also speedway fans But Poole have their fair share of blinkered fools and trolls and multi alias fans ..........4 points

A) he earned his rightful place in the GP therefore yes, he can. B) you do realise why he's not been in the GPs this year right? Show some compassion.3 points

Either buster thinks we're all stupid or he just doesn't care what we think. It's the Peterborough fans I feel sorry for, The Panthers have been used as a sacrificial lamb all season. British Speedway is rapidly becoming a laughing stock under Busters control.3 points

Far too inconsistent from the gate. There is a reason he hasn’t had a permanent top flight spot for several years.3 points

Bit harsh, he was leading heat 4, when on the last lap, he locked up and came down. Cameron then hit Garrity's bike which acted as ramp to propel him through the air, a la Freddie Lindgren. into the air fence. It looked like CW might have smashed in to his own handlebars, and it was subsequently announced as resulting in apparently a possible broken rib. To be fair it was a simple fall by Garrity, and nothing reckless about Jason's riding, who immediately went over to apologise to Cam. Despite the scoreline, there was some decent racing, with Garrity inflicting Masters only defeat in the final race. Although Garrity's travel problems are a source of irritation and criticism, when he is on his game on the track, he is well worth watching.3 points

I totally agree. It seems a nonsense that those performing poorly in the GP can do so with the comfort of knowing that the back door is still ajar. No rider in the GP should be allowed in the GP challenge and should only be allowed in the following year if they cannot qualify on merit in the then current GP campaign. No wonder the sport is not taken seriously.2 points

But you don't know the why, where and how any more than me - so you can't assert 'he could have been there'. Anyway - would you lend Jason a bike............. :-)2 points

Hoping for: Fricke, Vaculik and Michelsen as the top 3, the only riders who could mix it at the top Level. Wouldn't mind: Lambert, Anders Thomsen, Bjerre or Niels Dear God no's: Pavlic, Ljung, Harris, Bellego2 points

Yes. It is the way forward for major events not covered by a TV deal. Take Sweden this year - PPV in use. 72 matches plus 10 play-offs over 5 months at about £16 per month. About £1 per match!2 points

It would be good to have the 1st heat start at 8pm, especially as speedway's good friend R/R will be appearing again!2 points

Then no one in authority within British Speedway can ever moan about a lack of mainstream media coverage Neil.. Nor can they complain about a lack of blue chip company sponsorship for their teams and the league as a whole.. Imagine, for example, Tesco sponsoring the Panthers? Their brand will be linked to such nonsense that is allowed to pervade week in week out within Speedway and therefore could become damaged by its association.. Ultimately this means there is no way these major companies would get involved with something so devoid of any credibility in the context of a bona fide National Sporting Championship.. In fact it probably is good news to a large degree that it is constantly ignored by the wider media given its so open to ridicule. Imagine Poland running Speedway like this with the exposure they get every week? Believe me, it wouldn't get anywhere near the same wall to wall coverage, fan base or sponsorship from national companies if they did.. Two months of what we accept over here would see a collapse of their Leagues and crowds akin to the GB levels as TV companies and sponsors would drop it like a stone.. If you can't do something properly then probably best not to do it at all as, with all things, you are only as good as your weakest link.. And Speedway in the UK have more weak links due to its operating model than is good for the brand..2 points

Ostergaard, Becker, Morley, Agertoft. You’ve ‘never even heard of one of them’? • Peterborough stalwart for many years • 2019 Wolverhampton rider • 2018 Lakeside rider (did we race then at all last year?) • Agertoft as a CL reserve I accept may be off your radar. Given the timing of the rider withdrawals, and the other fixtures last night - what would you suggest? And no, postponement wasn’t an option.....2 points

Well they had to dig deep and did it without their top two riders (and with the captain still in a lot of pain after Wednesday night), but Berwick capped off an excellent eight days with another win. Dany Gapp and especially Jye did a lot of good work. Berwick continue to climb the table. Having seen him come through the NJL ranks I would like to see somebody give Josh Embleton a place in the National league to help his development. He didn't score tonight but also wasn't far off the pace. Jason Garrity always gives 100% and Adam Ellis showed how much he has improved in the past couple of years.1 point

In that case I would expect a pro rider to be able to get a van in time to still get to a venue,, or make other arrangements to get there. I think we or maybe not you as you are very careful about what you say,,, so let's just say, I doubt very little effort more likely no effort was made for Garrity to get to Foxhall.1 point

Not sure I understand all the comments regarding track grading these days. I worked for years at Cleveland Park as a track raker (remember them?) and also helped Tony Swales with track prep on a Thursday afternoon. 6 track rakers were on hand to pull back the shale from the outside of the track towards the centre and the tractor (with grader) would come out for 2 laps to distribute this after EVERY heat. No-one complained then. Berwick were good value and deserved their point on a night where a few Bears were under par. Loving Kasper Andersen!1 point

Thouroughly enjoyed last nights meeting, from a Plymouth perspective stoke must be kicking themselves from Devon back to the potteries for getting nothing from this Lawlor in his first three rides was untouchable but then he only got 2 points from his last 3 rides the problem stoke have Perry and Lawlor will score big points but there’s not a lot backing them up Luke priest is no where near the rider he was which is a shame.1 point

Is Richie any different to any manager in the league Lisa ?? they have all received flak at some stage of the season even a Legend like Peter Adams.1 point

One thing i would say is Pinny, Morley has achieved his average in a very tough 1/5 position and the Championship is a tough old league.Be interesting to see if Eastbourne replace Wood with Hume i don't know if the rules prevent it but you would think Connor Mountain would appreciate extra rides in the NL.?1 point

Good to see in the Speedway Star, top 2 biggest away wins this season have been by Swindon at Poole and Ipswich, 53-37. Surprising as the Robins have just ended a 17 match run of away league defeats.1 point

Thoroughly deserved point for Berwick - Summers was excellent alongside Covatti but solid points throughout the team. Slightly disappointing performance from the Bears but a good hard fought win. Think the track caught us out a bit at the start of the meeting and not a huge amount of passing. Wright was superb and probably the difference between the sides, a couple of great tussles with Summers. Riss started well and important score again from Andersen.1 point

We used to have all sorts of weird and wonderful equipment at Brandon to "put the shale back on the racing line". Funny thing was that none of them really worked. There has never been a proper substitute for men (or ladies) with rakes on the bends or at the start line. At the larger breaks, circular grading with the tractor, grader down on the inward run, grader up on the way out, is also very effective. These are not new ideas and there is a reason they were widely adopted.1 point

Completely agree...and to have that many bull#### excuses from so many riders shows the lack of respect that this management/promotion commands...and then to tell these lies to the fans is unforgivable.1 point

I would prefer a last heat decider but then we give them a point which we do not want to do. Leave the last heat decider for Peterborough1 point
