Thanks to the Somerset fans who made us really welcome and to Dave Thompson for letting us out onto the centre green for the last three heats . Everyone was very sporting in defeat and not one person mentioned dodgy fuel lol . Tonight was a joy , some fantastic racing and in the company of some wonderful people . I love coming to Somerset7 points

Is all this rider “swapping” In “ best interest of the sport”.It harms it credibility IMO.Replacing injured riders ok ,but “ average swapping” is not.6 points

Spot on... When riders rode in both of the top divisions it was to give them a chance to develop their ability against better riders, to see if they could make the leap into the top league permanently, and then further into international class, once they became established top division standard riders.. Now it's simply done to allow riders without Polish and Swedish contracts to make money, and all it has done is result in some clubs racing on nights they would prefer not to, to accomodate these riders' earning potential and deliver a fixture list driven by when the riders are available to ride rather than when the customers will be available to attend. .6 points

Looking at that Peterborough lineup I am impressed and think this is far from a 3 point gift. Good guests and good reserves. Should be a thriller tonight.5 points

Get well soon dan. Can’t understand people having a pop. Those injuries last year would have finished other riders careers.4 points

The car is currently parked outside Tescos... He's setting off as soon as he can find 50p to put in the slot... Bit of a decision to be made though whether to drive the Postman Pat one or the Fireman Sam one.. The Postman Pat one has the better accompanying song but the Fireman Sam one has a big bell... (Which is more appropriate maybe?)...4 points

Leicester Tigers! Now operating a squad system. Dickson trying to convince that Proctor disappointed to be dropped and has a point to prove when the teams meet this weekend. Do us a favour, even the Politburo would've been embarrassed to put that out.4 points

There is an excellent interview with Richard Clarke of Speedway Star in the current edition of Backtrack magazine which includes concerns about sales in line with the general decline of speedway. However I believe there may be a way of boosting interest. Given that speedway fans spend almost as much time watching tractors circling the track as they do actually watching racing, wouldn't it be an idea for Speedway Star to merge with one the tractor magazines? 'Speedway Star & Tractor Weekly'. It has a ring to it. This will bring added interest to the evening as Instead of whinging and complaining about the tractor breaks, fans would thumb through the mag and try and identify the tractor type and engage with fellow fans on the terrace. Backtrack magazine could also engage with this idea with vintage features on the tractors we fondly remember going round and round in the 70’s and 80’s. Naturally the mag would be renamed Backtractor. Just an idea.3 points

Just got back from a stonking meeting tonight at Wimborne Road. IMO the best meeting we have seen this season with some balls to the walls racing and thrilling entertainment. A big crowd at Poole tonight to see the return of Brady Kurtz and he rode very well. The strength of the team is starting to shine through and we managed to blag our way through the last month with a weakened line up. Tonight we turned the corner. First of all Charles Wright was well received as the new British Champion. He said he had never known so many pele wanting pics with him, congratulating him etc. Nice guy. The racing tonight was very good. Track perfectly prepared. Just the right amount of shale, perfectly watered. And it led to some classic battles from as early as heat 3 with Josh cutting past the Panthers duo over the course of the heat to join Klindt for a 5-1. Wright passed Covatti like he was standing still, Klindt charged under both Panthers, Wright got between Klindt and Wells off the final bend as the three went over the line together. Holder and Hans passed and reposed... it was all happening. Special mention for Ryan Douglas whose first visit to Poole netted him 10 deserved points including a heat win. For Poole: Holder did well before missing it completely in heat 15 r/r got just 5 points. Klindt was excellent for 13 points. So consistent at the moment. Best season ever? Josh had 3paid wins and a couple of lasts. His last ride saw him badly impeded entering bend three which saw the end of his chance to score. Kurtz was excellent. One poor ride when he got blocked out by a derailed Nicholls. Covatti is clearly not fully fit. Struggled for his 4 points. Wells battled but needs to use the outside more. For Panthers: Tungate was poor overall. One race win which was caused by Nicholls blocking ability. Nicholls was excellent all night. Wright battled and I thought would have got heat 15 but it was given to the guest (which was deserved) Proctor was very poor tonight. Hans is clearly not race fit. Had one good battle with Holder. Summers was poor. Douglas impressed all night. Paid ten for a first visit is exceptional. When Speedway is dished up like this there’s absolutely nothing wrong with the sport. Wimborne Road showing why it is one of the best tracks in the country.3 points

There were always going to be multiple changes with the team building average increasing during the season, something I've never seen done before and hopefully never again.3 points

Now I don't believe you are being quite honest with everyone on here with this posting JCF are you? Personally I am quite happy to give you the benefit of any doubt that you could make it at 'close of play' from Birmingham to Poole for the start of the meeting at the required 'light speed'... However... Your travelling through the required 'wormholes' of deeper Space to reach your destination, I can accept... But a girlfriend? Really? Come on JCF, what do you take me for?3 points

The 8-day rule only applies to guest appearances, it doesn’t include appearances for a rider’s own Club2 points

I didn't say I was staying until the end of the cricket. Will drive to Poole at around 4. I fancy a close fixture with the Panthers edging it. I can't see us losing tonight. Tungate is night on unbeatable in his current form. We also have the best British rider in our side.2 points

Wow... Commentators only comment on sides as the "National Team" when it is the actual "National Team" in action. A "National Team" is a team representing a "nation", with individuals being selected from across the nation, rather than from a region. EXACTLY the same as a "National League" which covers the whole nation, rather than a region. That applies in every sport, including speedway, so no, speedway is no different. Really John, that is a particularly feeble attempt to substantiate your argument.2 points

Don’t see how it’s a poor signing. You think Sarjeant replacing Marson is not an improvement? It’s an extra 2/3 points a meeting and that is what makes all the difference.2 points

Berwick are the ONLY team in all three leagues to have kept faith with their original 1-7. Five of whom were returnees from 2018. Pwoper pwomotion, Nige!2 points

Have we reached a point where everyone is signed for 1 month only and has the chance to move around on the first of each month? Riders can step away or be replaced freely. Yes it will be a mess and burn the last of any loyalty shown but with credibility at an all time low is it better to make it an official practice and at least accept the sport is flawed rather than the deceit that shines through.2 points
-
Couldn't agree more. Riders would regularly remain with the same club which would develop a raport between riders and the fans.2 points
-
Welcome aboard James Sarjeant. Try sit still we’re poor and can’t afford too many sets of tapes unlike along the road. Good move for us makes us even stronger. One last push for the play offs.2 points

To get to Poole stadium from Edgbaston in an hour, would mean travelling at 163 miles an hour, all the way. A private plane would not get you there on time. His only chance is a good helicopter, which would need to take off next to the wicket on the last ball, and land on the centre green at Wimborne Road. Other than obtaining all the permissions needed, which would be impossible, and the costs, which would be prohibitive to anyone but a oliogarth, it all come down to one fact. He is full of crap.2 points

But (as far as I remember) "Ian" didn't run tracks in the same division. Quite how this is in "the best interest of the sport" I am struggling with if I'm honest.2 points

He has said himself he doesn’t know how long he’ll be out so I don’t expect Lynn to put a time frame on it. I can’t imagine we’ll hear anything until the preview for the next meeting ie over the weekend. Pretty sure it’ll be guests, on Monday it’s Poole, Swindon & P’boro not riding so possibly somebody like Holder or Tungate. Whoever it is has massive boots to fill.2 points

Just heard from Reg Fearman- you will be glad to know that Ray Cresp is indeed still with us (thanks for mentioning him Steve)-he's 91 but has been ill recently with heart problems-hope he is around for many years to come. A real battler on the track- I recall him for Long Eaton in1965. I think before that he was in the NL with West Ham2 points

Because its his top 20 and he can put in any one he wants, even if it makes no sense at all.2 points

And his British career started with Poole, always gives everything and is coming back from a very serious injury . Don't understand why anyone wouldn't have the utmost respect for him.2 points

That's a misconception. Its no coincidence that Belle Vue is both the best racing track in the country and one that has little home advantage.2 points

Booked the day off work. Going to head to Edgbaston for the cricket and then down to Poole with the girlfriend, for the speedway. Two sets of Aussies are going to get a pasting. Anyone know of any nice places to eat near Wimborne Road that serve fresh food? My girlfriend is a fussy eater and doesn't put anything into her mouth that isn't organically grown. She hates processed food.2 points

If this means that Robert could miss the next 2/3 months of the season, then it would be more sensible to take the rest of the year off for a complete rest and make a fresh start next year...2 points

It could work for me because many years ago I was a huge tractor enthusiast but then lost interest and gave it all up. It turned out to be beneficial though recently as I saved a lot of people when the room we were in filled with dense smoke. Lucky for them I was an ex tractor fan.1 point

There are not enough riders. That is why they ride for 2 teams. As well as they do not get enough money riding for 1. And the gap between the top and bottom would be huge.1 point

I mentioned it because someone else did... Just a bit of chat during a bit of a lull in the season if that's ok... Nothing serious... I'm enjoying this year very much... Lasse and Thomas are both nice new faces and what else we have, I'm happy with...1 point

He is not one of the top riders. But for entertainment he is right up there. He is good enough though. A lot of blokes in our Sport are good lads. They do not act like footballers.(Even i am saying that). Danny is a cheerful lad. Remarkable when you consider what he has been through. Everyone should respect him.1 point
