very strange very very strange Sedgeman not ridden for months Kurtz binned off by Somerset out of form. Proctor has been smashing in better scores and form in both Leagues for past few weeks. Leicester in Shield Final look sure to be in Play Offs need rider whose average Proctor best fits. "Robbing Peter to pay Paul" or "robbing one Bates to pay another Bates". IF Proctor ends up at Leicester it will bring Sport in to further disrepute and ridicule. No doubt one for the Management Committee to look in to Oh hang on....."Bates and Bates and Godfrey5 points

All this chopping and changing of team building averages is doing the sport no favours. As stated above the 42.5 number is king and what is needed to balance out sides otherwise it creates falsely high averages and then after one season riders get frozen out as a new crop of non ready riders take their places, no disrespect to any but 50% of the 2 pointers in the Champs are there because of their average and not ability.4 points

Still got the dodgy fuel in the tanks to help some riders improve their score & get Cookie to lessen his to a more attractive average for next year.(some people just cannot see it but it might sow the seeds of doubt )3 points

In theory yes they can, as all team declarations are subject to approval as being ‘in the best interests of the sport’.....3 points

This fixture, already looking competitive, has now been spiced by Charles Wright lifting the British Championship. Berwick's usual line-up is Summers, Etheridge, Doolan, Gappmaier, Busk Jakobsen, Garcia & Flint. Redcar will be bringing Riss, Andersen, Palm Toft, Stewart, Wright, Woolley & Greaves -- racing order unconfirmed. Both sides at full strength -- Redcar with their new British champ, plus a new No 1, Erik Riss, who is a double World (long-track) Champion. Bandits remain unbeaten at home in Championship action for over a year, but the recently-revised Bears could be their stiffest test so far this season. If Charles Wright brings the same form he displayed at Belle Vue, Shielfield spectators are in for a treat. Plus, with another tasty wee treat of the NJL mini-match following the main event, Saturday's spectators will be able to enjoy 21 meaningful races for their money. Tell the town -- the new British Champion is coming to Berwick on Saturday night!2 points

So there we have it Gustix has his own personal opinion and will continue to bang that drum at every occasion (in all fairness we all have our own opinions / passions on things) What is clear though is Danny Ayres started out as a rag tag chancer, progressed through to talented but emotional clown and is now a National hero. If anyone know a film producer......just make sure the 70's moustache era gets edited out.2 points

so the rumours are true that said the Newcastle teams have become quite samey over the past few years and the results have been likewise.2 points

Probably using the wrong wording, What I was trying to say , If Lambert don't allow the injury to fully repair it could hinder his process for years to come...2 points

And so it may be. But if you look at the audience demographics and you want to attract young people to speedway then something of that ilk is exactly what should be tried. I bet now I've mooted the idea someone like the Isle of Wight would look at it very seriously2 points

My first year in 1969 many teams in Division 2 had riders on loan from Div 1. As those riders improved they began to feature more in their senior team whilst continuing to compete at lower level. However it wasn’t long term like it is now. I remember Geoff Maloney at Rayleigh started one season on fire and was doubling up with Hackney, he moved up full time mid season much to my annoyance! What did stop riders dropping down a league was when Romford signed Des Lukehurst from Hackney as he couldn’t get a ride with another Div 1 team. In those days overnight it turned Romford into title challengers and I don’t think they lost another match all season. I remember huge crowds too.1 point

Booked the day off work. Going to head to Edgbaston for the cricket and then down to Poole with the girlfriend, for the speedway. Two sets of Aussies are going to get a pasting. Anyone know of any nice places to eat near Wimborne Road that serve fresh food? My girlfriend is a fussy eater and doesn't put anything into her mouth that isn't organically grown. She hates processed food.1 point

I'd like to propose that before EVERY meeting each rider is allowed 4 laps of the track so when we get to heat 1 the riders will be able to use the whole track and not just the inside line ....1 point

It was announced they'd been on the phone since monday morning, but couldn't find anyone willing or able to ride. No one loses a home match on purpose. Some promoters would have conveniently left a hose pipe on, or said there was emergency electrical work going on in the area.1 point

When Gilkes was injured at stoke, I was stood in the pits when chris hunt was told it had to be a 2.0 unattatched rider, ruling out Couzins O Keefe and a couple of others I think who had 2.something averages. The rules at the time did say 3.0 unattatched riders to replace missing reserves. But assume this was a clerical error when they were published and should of read 2.0 riders.1 point

It's not sad at all. It is not a case of attracting "a lesser quality of rider"; the "National League" is now designed to be a third division. We never had a "Premier League" or "Championship" back then. The level is irrelevant, and the term "National" was never meant to indicate a particular - let alone superior - level. That is what "First", "Second", and "Third" divisions are for... Steve1 point

The total averages will be 42.00-42.50 though and not 45.00 because of the x4 multiplier whereas some riders will of had x5 rides. If the total team average for the start of next season is anything less than that then they are yet again weakening the product further and further again.1 point

Come on John, it doesn't matter how much you prod, or try to convert your opinion into fact, the TRUTH is that the current "National League" (or National Development League) is every bit as much the GENUINE article as the National League of the 1950's. To quote the Collins dictionary, "NATIONAL" ls defined as : "relating to the whole of a country or nation rather than to part of it"" and "affecting a (or the) nation as a whole; nationwide in scope, involvement, representation, etc" and "a competition in which participants compete for a nationwide ranking, title, championship, etc." Comparisons of specific levels are denoted by titles such as Elite League, Premier League, and First Division... if kent can limp to the play offs and somehow get 7 fit riders they are still the equal of any team in the league, they've had a shocking run of injurys1 point

I though Danny was a moto x convert? Not sure i have ever seen or heard of him on the grass? He is though a true gent and has developed into a class act from what was a very scruffy beginning. There will be plenty who remember his first year at Kent & Rye House where he would fall multiple times in a race, so much so that he developed the ability to slide off and remount in almost one movement. He works tirelessly on his riding and on bettering himself and its really paying off. He also has the theatrics, showmanship and pantomime villian down to a tee so love or loathe him everyone wants to see Danny Ayres. If you ever get the chance to talk to him please do as he is one of the most genuine, honest and lovable people you will ever meet.1 point

Last night great racing on great race track- get the track right that’s what you get - sadly most BT league meetings are one big bore fest - there is absolutely no reason why Kings Lynn couldn’t produce racing like last night given the will that is to use proper shale rather than dirt.1 point

We'll young Connor Bailey is with us in our post match celebrations and is quite miffed at missing out on these fuel additives , not very fair that not spreading them around the whole team1 point

To put his ethos a bit more into perspective, he was at Plymouth last night. By the account I got, the referee ordered extensive track work before the meeting started. When it did, the surface was clearly still dangerous and further work was ordered (the Isle of Wight facebook page states two clubs wanted the meeting calling off). You can just imagine how some promoters would have taken the opportunity to put the boot into Plymouth (and, in truth, that would have been at least partly justified). I have it on good authority that Barry entertained children by giving them a taste of riding a speedway bike (albeit while it was standing still, there's a film on the Isle of Wight facebook page) chatted to spectators and assisted with the track work by manning a tractor. More power to his elbow1 point

I have no problem with Tree's or anyone else enjoying Speedway. Seeing as I get criticism for being only negative (which I am with regards to the King's Lynn owner) then the same has to said of those that only see positive does it not? As many have said numerous times this year and previous at King's Lynn, the atmosphere is flat, racing none existent etc etc. Would be interested to know from those that are still so in love with King's Lynn, what it is that genuinely keeps them going? In terms of Belle Vue, they do have the best track in the world but they haven't got the same promoting mentally as Glasgow & Isle of Wight. These clubs make their fans feel included and listened too.1 point
