Spot on , the jealousy surrounding Glasgow threads is quite comical at times. I remember only too well standing in the weeds on the back straight at Glasgow and you were able to do a quick head count, now while 2100 May be a tad over generous , the attendances are much healthier . The Charlie Monk stand is always pretty full , the stand on the home straight is usually pretty full , and the fourth bend terrace always looks well populated and swelled by an extra 10 folk when the Monarchs visit. While there are things about Ashfield since the Facennas took over that I don't like, I.e no decent bar and over zealous stewarding, it's like night and day now compared to the dump it used to be . If people feel the need to pick holes and throw insults in the direction of something that is actually good about British speedway, then that's pretty sad and it's an attitude which is indicative of where the sport in this country is just now .12 points

Referee rubbish, track rubbish, racing rubbish (not riders fault), camera work rubbish. Other then that everything is ok.10 points

You would have been even more impressed with Jitendra's extra article in the week before's programme he put out a two page spread detailing the whole reasoning behind the triple change the Bears made and explaining exactly how the promotion (himself and Jade) went about it. A really top class and informative article which countered all the rumours and criticism posted on here about timing of Ulrich's departure, his expenditure on flights and Jack Smith being harshly treated. Fans at Redcar feel we are very lucky to have two guys who understand the necessity to engage with the public, give explanations (where possible) about what is going on behind the scenes and want the crowd each week to feel they have been made welcome and had an entertaining and value for money evening! I'm sure your comments will have gone down very well with them both.10 points

But that’s not exclusive to Poole is it? Some of you carry on as if it’s only Poole who are weakened and everyone else is either at full strength, and actually “stronger” due to guests and R/R! The knives were out for Worrall before his injury. We went many meetings without Jake Allen who at the time wasn’t just the best reserve in the league, he was one of the in form riders full stop! The likes of Josh Bates were brought in for meetings and were scoring next to nothing and we still managed to pick up points most meetings. Wolves have had problems, Swindon also, Peterborough have had rotten luck during, and even before the season even started. It’s not exclusive to just Poole. And yes, Poole have done very well to battle through their recent problems to still pick up points, no doubt about it.5 points

Quite enjoyed that meeting. Track was a bit slick due to the expected rain that never came but still a fairly decent night. Felt the Bears were fairly comfortable throughout the night, but Birmingham still put up a decent fight. Good solid effort for the Bears, and Stewart and Andersen thoroughly deserved heat 15. Sgood to see Woolley in the mix, brought the house down with his point! Birmingham battled hard, and thought Castagna in particular was excellent value. From what I had read on here, expected a white line hugger but he was anything but tonight - very entertaining!4 points

This should be Rosco’s swan song. Bring in Middlo who’s man management skills are second to none.4 points

Alun obviously reads the forum and has put his hat on!4 points

I can't stand people who make lists too. Can that be added?4 points

Bit concerned that Lambert has neck pain and Rosco saying he didn't want to say to much in front of the doctor? Surely a riders health comes first & foremost.4 points

People should just take no note of anything weather report or cancellations until they see it from official sources! Silly for people to mention it being off no matter how it was meant!4 points

Track will be a leveller. Cook goes well here and is a trapper, always useful on a gaters track. Dont agree with taking Harris. We have to start moving past this to be quite honest. His day at this level is done and frankly we have better riders that could take it, namely Dan Bewley. Injury or not, for the experience this is the time to start blooding the younger riders, it's a golden opportunity to give them international experience but we dont, because we 'think we can win it' It drives me mad. This is the very reason we dont make progress because we take past it has beens that are stepping on the toes of the next generation and I'll never agree with it. Bomber is patriotic and I'm sure a top human who will love this opportunity but he should never have been on the plane.4 points

Pretty dull apart from Barkers efforts. Pathetic performance from Schlein.3 points

It was shown to be even worse tonight because Barker fought like a tiger in every race.3 points

I thought it was a decent crowd for day 1 when nothing would be decided- last season`s 1st day attendance at Wroclaw was pathetic.3 points

Yes, and 95% of them did all the work on their own bike and had a second job. They didn't have to pay an engine tuner or a mechanic, they did their own tuning and a friend or relative was their mechanic who was happy with free admission, a drink and a fish and chip supper. Very different times. Back in the late 50's and early 60's there were also a number of Stock Car drivers whose full time job was racing, something that would be totally impossible nowadays. Again showing how times change.3 points

Yep, might as well brought Justin Elkins out of retirement3 points

Couldn't agree more! The impact he took To his head & neck are red flags, then add that he has discomfort! He may want to represent his country but god forbid the worst that could happen from a wrong move, rut in track etc. Rosco should step in and make him have a proper assessment!3 points

More to the point, what is Rossiter playing at with his hair, he's 50 not 15 ffs.3 points

It's a world final, you pick your best team. Riders learn about the international stage competing in u21 events and GP qualifiers. The best 3 are there in Russia.3 points
-
But he is right your post saying the meeting is off is entirely incorrect.3 points
-
I get your point... I just don't agree with it lol. Their time will come if they prove to be good enough, that's what all of the U21 competitions are for, the senior events are for riders who are the best in their country3 points

Pearson and his motley crew have ripped off the sport for long enough, sub-standard journalism; sub standard media, poor reaction to criticism. He is part of the problem with the sport, yet has an iron media grip on a lot of the Clubs due to his collaboration with BSPA including my own. Of course he is unhappy with social media warriors who tell it how it is. He can't control them and that's all he wants to do. "control".3 points

Not sure I agree. It is a two day meeting and anything can happen. And then an out of form Bewley thrown in against the best in the world might only hamper his comeback to his best even more. Take him along as part of the team to gain experience by all means3 points
-
Should have been Bewley as screm says. Bomber is the best of the rest on foreign shores, riders like Wright, Lawson, King, Worrall etc wont get any better so pointless taking them.3 points

Very decent meeting tonight Both teams played a part even though the score flattered Birmingham a bit. Redcar were always in control. The Bears will be a real threat at play off time. With an excellent heat leader trio, two firing second strings and a points scoring reserve they will be a handful for anyone. Having been both furious and appalled at the actions of no less than three promotions over the last week or so (and those three won't get any money off me for a while) I was most impressed tonight. For a start, in the programme Jitendra Duffil directly addressed fans concerns (are you watching Plymouth) over entry fees last week, and agreed to fund reductions where necessary. He then went to express his gratitude for the support that he had been given after the previous weeks meeting. The programme also had an interesting article about set ups, which we here a lot about but which to some are a complete mystery. Then we had the brilliant sight of youngsters on the centre green dancing with Smoggy the mascot, some of whom were from the radiation affected arears of the Ukraine and Belarus, who had all been equipped with the requisite Redcar flags. Finally, there was Roy Clarke speaking to a young lady who had just got engaged and the playing of Cliff Richard's 'Congratulations'. All in all, 10 out of 10 for the promotion and to pay them a huge compliment, in terms of family atmosphere you were right up there with Isle of Wight. PS Pleasure to meet Sidewinder tonight but slightly perturbed that he knew who I was. One promotion will definitely have me in their gunsights2 points

So the paying public let down again, Roo Boy should be ashamed of his pathetic performance,, and Somerset have a guest in Ben Barker who rides his heart out, pity some of the Rebels didn't feel the same way.2 points

Awful track, awful crash for GB, too many tapes/starting offences, hardly any team riding, terrible ref. Bomber way off the pace, should be Bewley out there. What has happened to the once wonderful sport of speedway? Truly dreadful to watch.2 points

A few good races but overall poor for a final. BSI should stipulate that the tracks in the SON and WTC are of a standard to produce excellent, exciting racing. Whilst they wanted to bring the event to Russia, the meeting HAS TO BE better than a flat, boring strip.2 points

I believe to appease the traditional British fanbase, he has a tartan blanket keeping his knees warm under the table... (A non tasseled one though which is a bit 'controversial')..2 points

I think Dan Bewley would be better missing the SON at this point in his career. Not sure racing against the world's best on an unfamiliar track out in Russia would be that great for him. If it was in the UK at the NSS I could see the merit.2 points

But at least it's what new fans can expect when they pay to turn up. Any races that they then see for themselves will be an added bonus. Under promise and over achieve2 points

Only just seen this on the BSPA site. Why on earth the BSPA and/or Re-Run selected this heat goodness only knows?! Probably one of the worst heats for excitement in the whole meeting!! Crazy!!.2 points

I love Paco, its been great to see him doing well this season and proving people wrong who wrote him off before he rode for us. His passion and enthusiasm really makes him a popular rider with brummies fans and tbh there shouldnt even be a vote for rider of the year. He wins hands down. All in all a good effort from the brummies with such a patched up side, (again) thanks to Ty and Ulrich for their performances. Good Luck to Redcar, they have a good side with the changes they made.2 points

One thing that is guaranteed on a Berwick thread is pessimism, and let us be thankful for that.2 points

No problem with that though IMO as Team GB have no hope of winning and virtually no hope of getting a medal itcwas the chance to bring in one of the younger riders.2 points
