Riders struggling in the unpleasant conditions. Most important thing is to be safe and come away with no further injuries. Track is extremely grippy and patchy throwing riders all over the place. Hopefully it will improve. Result doesn’t matter.6 points

Well done Matt Wethers ! Just goes to show that some riders take a little longer to get there than others. A great servant to the sport!6 points

I think pretty dreadful sums it up well. Racing, Crowd, Excitement & Persistent Restarts due to riders trying to jump the starts. Tatum got it spot on tonight, exclude riders who move before the tapes go up, warnings are a waste of time, none of this 15 yard crap, Chuck them out, it would soon stop.4 points

The amount of whining tonight I had to check there wasn't an old WW2 Dornier flying overhead.4 points

All 3 posts absolutely correct. King's Lynn as a Speedway track is still there but it most certainly isn't a Speedway racers track at all. Only big mistakes contributed to any passing. Awful meeting and certainly wouldn't encourage any stay-aways to return. Adrian Flux Arena is all about the gating, it's very very ordinary and lacks any value for money in entertainment.4 points

Pooles track is far superior to Saddlebow now the track has been fixed. We have something called passing on a properly dressed track. No wonder there was no one there. I wouldn’t bother if that was served up every week. Well done to Kings Lynn on their win.4 points

Its perfect for the stock cars that make him money.......4 points

Congrats to Kings Lynn on a true backs-to-the-wall shock victory over a team with twice the league points going into tonight. Good luck with the rest of your season Stars fans.4 points

I was at the Coliseum on friday & it was my first visit. And I WILL BE ATTENDING again. I would like to be positive about the venue & the meeting. It is a purpose built arena for speedway. There are many stands which allow for an elevated view. There is no greyhound track so as well as being elevated you are closer to the action. To me the closer you are the better! And with no greyhound track there are no outsiders taking revenue out of the venue. All monies spent go to the promotion which can allow them to put it back into speedway. Access to the riders before the meeting is excellent there is plenty of time for getting autographs & photos. And up close to watch them working on their bikes or for having photos of them with fans in their leathers. These are the things I remembered when I was a child. I rarely remembered meetings it was getting autographs & having a pic with my favourite rider. There were many young faces at this meeting more than I`m used to at my home circuit. Also the club had invited the Exeter Aces cycle speedway team to attend to promote their club & sport. The 2 crashes did cause delays but what a lovely evening waiting in the sunshine. Also, by curfew time we only lost the final heat of the second half. I paid £12 admission plus £2-50 for 20 heats which I feel was good value. A 46-44 first half & 16-14 second half. I had arrived at 3pm & walked the stadium & at that time the track staff were driving the tractor around in very hot temperatures & working on the track. I thought that Ben Wilson (14 pts) Adam Extance (13+2) Rob Ledwith (9) had no problems & Anders Rowe looked very good & rode with aggression attacking the track. Drew Kemp also rode well but I thought he got to the corner with Richard Andrews in his heat & it looked from my angle that he was pushed out wider than he wanted to be which made him turn harder than he wanted to do which caused his highside. Glad to see he was okay. The venue is helping younger riders to gain valuable track time. Good luck to young Ben Trigger for his forthcoming European excursion to Torun, Poland on 20th July. Finally, all the very best wishes to Nathan Stoneman on a full recovery.4 points

Fixed when in 1989 ??? all you want is a winning side you could not care less about the entertainment element.3 points

Then why have two riders withdrawn, Riss nearly fell, Cook fell, Klindt fell. Track has been rough.3 points

The track last night was very good. Two spells of grading brought it back both times. The telltale sight is the sameness of times within a couple of seconds. It even held Barker with those extra fast dives into the bend, and then around the boards. One of the best performances I have seen from Barker.3 points

The age of some of those that are there... Looks like some of them won't see the meeting out!3 points

I think when a Poole fan takes a knock at someones track you just have to take it with a very large pinch of salt3 points

Terrible track in heat one. Looks like a ploughed field and rides like one. Holder couldn’t even turn the bike!3 points

Well I finally made it on Sunday, a great shame Sheffield lost but saying that an enjoyable meeting of racing. We found both the locals and also the opposition supporters very helpful and friendly. Glad we went, the one downside is that the whole track cannot he accessed for spectators. Good luck Sheffield —onwards and upwards. What was refreshing was that both groups of supporters could stand side by side, no trouble at all and I never saw a policeman all night. A credit to speedway.3 points

Whatever happened to sportsmanship and for that matter a mature outlook on things. Life's too short to be consumed by hatred but some show it on here. I genuinely feel sorry for such people, hatred seems to consume them. Not something I would like to be. As you say about the money jibes being tiresome, not to mention juvenile, the irony is there's so little money and investment in the sport anyway. Those that follow football would laugh at the tiny amount of money Glasgow have invested. I'd love to see investment into other clubs. The sport is dying but for the jealousy ridden small-minded they allow themselves to become the complete opposite of sportsmanlike or grownup and come on here spouting their small-minded bile.3 points

Everyone hates Glasgow now that they have money behind them , jealousy is a terrible thing. It wasn't that long ago that we were threatened with closure and at the bottom of the league, year after year but we still went home and away to support the team. We always congratulate the team that has beaten us. The money jibes are getting very tiresome.3 points

Lol! Typical response from you. My opinions are my own and nobody else’s. Gavan hates Poole and if you can’t see that you are blind. I got fed up with his constant repeated posts saying the same crap over and over ad nauseam so last summer I blocked him. Best thing I did on here and the place is much better without his anti Poole nonsense. Well for me anyway. Now I am having to post about someone that means nothing to me. Last from me on the subject of a blocked Poole hating troll.3 points

I dont think Gavan does slag Poole off at every opportunity he feels like me you mainly do Poole speedway an injustice. You dont show the true spirit of the club, you put yourself forward as the spokesman of the club and by doing that you show Poole in a bad light.3 points

Ripping a track up mid season , after it has produced some good and entertaining racing this season , makes no sense whatsoever . Track is the same for both teams , but it was still an odd decision and a massive own goal .3 points

Well done to Kings Lynn on their win. Never in doubt. Every team has a mare of a night, tonight it was Pooles turn.2 points

It’s in Buster’s interest to have a track surface which suits cars and makes lots and lots of money from them, it’s really that simple. Speedway is just an afterthought nowadays.2 points
-
Not really the shape which is the problem (although shortening and widening would do no harm). It’s all about the shale used which is great for stock cars (massive crowds) but awful for speedway bikes (much lower crowds). Nothing will change while the stocks rule the roost.2 points
-
No. Don't be stupid!!! You talk as if the track is so bad the Poole riders should almost give up to save injury. There are no jumps or pot holes to see here.2 points
-
Please god let no more riders get injured tonight.2 points

More than likely bike problems. No doubt we will hear in due course. I was expecting Josh to be well into double figures tonight. Shame as he seems a nice bloke.2 points

South Africa's greatest ever speedway rider, Henry Long, passed away today in Franschhoek, Western Cape, South Africa, aged 91. In domestic and international competitions, he was the Union's top all-time points scorer, and appeared amongst the world's elite in the World Championship Final at Wembley Stadium, London of 1952, the first of only 2 African riders ever to qualify for a World Final. Born in Alberton near Johannesburg in 1927, he started racing after the war at the nearby Old Barn track with Buddy Fuller and Fred Wills. When speedway racing started at the Wembley Stadium, Jo'burg in 1947 Henry's performances rapidly improved, and in the first international Test Series staged the following season against England he top-scored across both teams, and then travelled to the UK and Belle Vue for a 4-year stint in Manchester, culminating in his World Final appearance. At home, he took 5 Wembley (Jo'burg) Open Championships and a similar number of SA National championships, limited only by his absences riding in the UK. Henry Long retired in 1964 to concentrate on the family garage business set up by his father, where he was joined in partnership by fellow rider Roy Bester, before starting up a new fork-lift sale and hire business. In August 2014 Henry suffered a stroke at home in Johannesburg, so relocated to Franschhoek, near Cape Town to be close to his daughter Sue. He passed away peacefully in the early hours of today, 8th July. (Elder son Graham Long, who rode speedway in the 'seventies, passed away in 2017.) HENRY LONG, 26.7.1927 - 8.7.2019 R.I.P. It’s a forum.Everybody can have their opinion. It doesn’t change anything.2 points

Hhhhmmm. I see that as well. But there's fewer people following the sport and however its done, if we all want speedway to continue, we're going to have to pay more on average (no pun intended) per head to support it and enable the sport to continue. Partly for that reason as time has gone on I've become less partisan and more appreciative of all clubs and just appreciate the sport. That's why I don't like to see vindictiveness being shown, it isn't banter, its vindictiveness and just no need for it.2 points

Yes, but the losses a lot smaller. Thankfully we have things like the fantastic fans trust that keep our club alive.2 points

This is what would be termed "a non-response". Reasonable points were made and you obviously either agree with them or cannot deny them.2 points

It doesn't take "more than one rider being injured" to cause these meeting delays though. Often , when the medic feels the need to accompany one injured rider to the hospital then everything grinds to a halt. I understand why the promoters don't provide the extra cover but given the precarious state of british speedway currently, long delays are not going to encourage fans to attend again. I don't believe there are too many other sports where competitors are so vulnerable to injury that would provide such basic medical cover and risk not completing the meetings, thus denying the fans value for their entrance fee.2 points

The thing is that you show extreme vindictiveness towards Glasgow at every turn. I have always congratulated Workington and also personally to yourself have shown sadness at Workington's closure. Whereas it is clear that you would obviously celebrate Glasgow closing. Very sad for you as an individual to be all consumed by the hatred which you appear to be full of and show at every opportunity. I feel sorry for you.2 points

Even before the changes have fancied redcar to win the playoffs this year2 points

Can’t help but think this is going to be an awful advert for speedway on BT tonight, Summers was woeful as a guest at reserve for us at Kings Lynn couple of weeks ago and Newman is seemingly nowhere near a top flight rider these days2 points

A Track where a rider has to have the skill to "turn the bike" are not trick tracks, they are part of the sport and a good rider can ride any track. If you are going to define good tracks by those where it's full throttle all the way round you are totally missing the point of the sport. Redcar is an excellent track but nothing at all wrong with Eastbourne, Edinburgh or Newcastle and all can serve up great Racing and so regularly.2 points

I think the Poole fans on here are failing to factor in ‘The Middlo Impact’. I have heard Pirates fans describe him as the best Manager in The League. Have to believe this guy will motivate his team into a performance, if as suggested he really is the Messiah, or is he just a very naughty boy ?2 points
