  4. The adverse camber on turn 2 at Rye House was notorious. Some riders that went over that were never seen again!

  5. I was thinking exactly the same as i watched on Monday. If the start marshall pulled everyone tight up to the tapes as he does in Poland it very much reduces the opportunity to roll forward and get a flyer.

  7. Shame but a very sensible decision this time. Hopefully see Adam and Nathan in action next week and see if we can do a Liverpool and pull off a Cup miracle...

  10. There is a slight difference in the spelling of Kurtz it seems . Up North it's Kertz and down South it's Curtz. They are both from Australia but it's a big place you know. It's all in the pronunciation.

  11. Considering that the glass was full and people were having good time on Dec 20 compared to now when running at all seems to be the usual plus point and the regular closure threat is used to counteract dissent then I'd say that it's a half measure in a pint glass however you want to cut it

  14. To be quite honest I am not wishing for anything ,Chapman now owns the club and I have to accept that but I don't have to pay to watch it.

  15. This is exactly the problem. I recently mentioned on my own club's Facebook page that I felt it would benefit matches in the UK if we adopted the Polish system of two from each team going out to test the track prior to each match. That way, the away riders especially wouldn't be going out cold, but could confer and get their setups right . The response from one of the directors was astonishing. He said "just because the mighty Poland do it, doesn't mean we should..."

  16. Maybe not so unnecessary when you consider the state of Swindon’s racesuits? It does seem like Cook could be piggy in the middle though. Everybody loses out which is the sad part.

  17. Hope that’s tongue in cheek! we spent a year with Marek Mroz, had Nick Simmonds at no1 and years at the bottom end of the table. The money came in, one decent season and now the stadium is a truck park. Would love my Sunday afternoons of getting hammered at home every week back be careful what you wish for, once it’s gone it very rarely comes back

  19. Shows how low the bar is set now when people think last nights meeting was " not bad " .2 exciting laps of speedway in 15 heats , unfortunately the only decent race of the night was curtailed after 2 laps , with 3 passes in 2 laps the referee somehow see's that as a guaranteed 5-1 and calls it as a result. Ridiculous. The numerous full starts and mechanical issues made the league look amateur. Felt sorry for the fans who didn't have the comfort of the remote control beside them. Positive things have been said about the new Swindon track but on a good night for weather and with the TV cameras there it failed to deliver, and I can't think of a valid excuse why. Riders strung out like washing , you could fill your program in after 1 lap with some riders the length of the straight clear. All this thrown in with the commentary from Planet Pearson where everything is always great. Viewers watching this weeks meeting will not be surprised that the sport is struggling.

  20. I was referring to training tracks. Not sure it's that easy for Joe public to have a skid at Eastbourne. Whereas both iwade and Lydd, you or i could roll up with correct equipment, fill out relevant paperwork, pay our money and ride. That's why I added Rye House as again its solely a training track atm.

  21. Watching the video`s - it appeared not to be the warmest night, so attendances should rise when the weather improves. Dackarna should top those figures tomorrow.

  28. Every meeting I have ever attended at Kent I have seen loads of good overtaking round the outside of bends one and two including last Monday. Alfie Bowtell in particular making it look easy.

  29. The Premier league is not a cakewalk for a rider to clean up, it is just that Cook is so good at that level. You are right he should be in the higher league and hopefully soon he will get fixed up i look forward to watching Craig ride tomorrow.

  30. Try reading what I write again it’s obviously an issue to you Brady has had an issue of going missing later on in meetings..... I even said he may have turned the corner in that respect I look at the Poole team and it’s called an opinion of where the weaknesses may be. In my opinion Worrall is the weak link at the moment..... Jack has been average but upped his game the last couple of meetings and Richie needs to do the same. The good news is that he rides against us next and we are poor away and he goes well at Foxhall so I can see him scoring well in those matches. At Ipswich we have riders doing poorly in Harris and Bellego though Bellego was flying against Lynn so maybe he is turning the corner with his form.... Are you a tad to precious to accept any form of criticism or opinion against your team....... sorry must say that all the Poole team are amazing......

  32. I think you could be right unfortunately, have checked a few forecasts and they all say the same tho they were wrong last week, so fingers crossed the weathers kind and we get a meeting on and a win in our first home league meeting.

  33. Interesting you say the cambers are all wrong on bend 2, for the last couple of seasons there has been some fantastic overtakes on bends 1 & 2 particularly as the meeting progresses & the dirt moves out, who can forget Kemps swoop round Thomas & Stoneman at the tail end of last season. I don't remember any comments about adverse camber on that bend until now has Len put this in over the winter? You say there should be 3 more air bags on bends 1 & 2 has Len changed the finished position of the bags this year, as again i don't recall any comments from anyone in seasons gone that there is not enough bags & they look to me to finish in the same position as last year. Surely there must be a safety regulation for where they finish which is checked by the referee before meeting starts?

  34. Well only tell the truth and the track is the main problem, coupled with the curfew is a sure fire disaster. At least a negotiated 15 minute extension with the council in the event of the ambulance coming on track should be sorted and in the first instance the air fence should be extended further round the exit of bend 1 by at least 3 sections. Going back to Canterbury days we used to have a 2 hour curfew, 18/20 heats of racing, nothing cut short, a 15 minute extension for an ambulance coming on track and 2 Ambulances always in attendance, nuff. said.

  35. I'm not boycotting Kent, far from it. I will be there next monday for the Plymouth match. I went to Swindon yesterday to see the new track, and because it was £6 cheaper. The clincher for me was the new bank holiday curfew that appeared 2 weeks ago. How can noise be an issue in the afternoon. Plenty of holiday meetings in the past have gone well past the 2 hour mark, some nearer 3. I'd like to know the reasons why the council have now imposed this.

  36. I don't really see how Swindon can make a reserve change. What are the options? With a 3 points minimum, we can't go for a stronger reserve and a 2 pointer. Whoever we have will, virtue of our top 4, be weak compared to other reserves in the league. Taking this into account, I think Zach and James are doing as well as anyone else could be expected to be. At least they are in the thick of it and no being outclassed, so points will come here and there.

  37. Well said... Nice to see someone with some common sense.. You do have to laugh at some of the content on each teams threads by fans bemoaning why their team is 'poor'... Every year the SS does a bumper edition where you read absolute garbage from promoters of tracks saying things like "we have picked a team who can all increase their averages' or 'he has shown glimpses in the past of the level of rider we think he can be'... All absolute nonsense... Riders run similar averages year in year out because, guess what? That is their level... Several will be four and five point men the whole of their careers.. Always were, are now, and always will be... To expect them to do any better is folly, especially as they ride against pretty much the same riders every season who are doing exactly the same thing to their averages (ie pretty much standing still).. If you have ridden for five years or so then usually that is pretty much as good as you will get.. After ten years or so then there is usually a tipping point where you go backwards.. "Let's bring Woffy and Bartosz in"...

  39. Sign Craig Cook.... Even if only temporary... Or let any of the six Swindon riders take all his rides up to a maximum of seven rides for any of them.. Eg Batchelor and Musielak could take two each and still ride Heat 15.. Thats what other sports would do... As would the same sport in Poland and Sweden..

  40. Well, each team having a contracted no 8 from the Championship would be a stsrt now there's no race night clash. Effectively you are then employing a squad system. I mean, Torun wont replace Doyle with a rider of equal standing from their squad will they, so they will be weakened by it. It's part and parcel of credible sport.

  41. perhaps Torun can use Bartosz Zmarzlik next week? After another couple of wonderful days of Polish action, trust British Speedway to bring us all down to earth with it's utterly farcical rules, which we insist are a necessary evil, even though no other Speedway league in the world employs them!

  42. They were the days when the 2nd division was quality - we were spoiled with a great racetrack and watching a quality team of racers too. Add Charles Wright and Alex Davies to the riders you’ve named too. Quality entertainment week in week out. You’re right on that last point too - where I stood there used to be a group of 10 or more I expect and it used to be crammed for space. Last year it was just me and Willowman.

  43. I agree the gap is huge,it's certainly killed off any promotion and relegation, remember that ? I remember a few seasons back (,before i stopped going 5 or 6 years ago) when Rebels were in the second division, the current Poole side would have been a second division side, we had Nick Morris, Josh G, and Doyle, now you are paying more for a lot less with a 38 point limit. At the end of season with the team average risen to 45 or more and riders on a false average compared to their ability, you will weaken it further the following season.I wonder how many pensioners still go with no OAP discount? When i last attended, apart from Najjer all the people i used to see an stand with 20 or even 10 years ago no longer attended, and they can't all be dead. very sad !

  46. With brow beaters like u no wonder people stopped going , have been going to speedway since the start in the 70s have never seen a " rubbish " meeting yet at derwent park as for no meeting on your long weekends bad planning on your part or mr godfrey at scunny, as for a brighter future at a new stadium not a cat in hells chance.millom rugby club had 1200 on a cold sunday in feb to watch local lads take on a team from abroad i forget where ,people standing on grass banks to watch do 750 reg town fans need an 8000 stadium costing 100,000000 over 50 yrs ?
