Ipswich is a club that has a good size bunch of die hards, let's hope there are enough of them to see the season through. Then hopefully Chris or someone else will take the club back off Buster and move back down whilst the top league dissolves2 points

The revised conversions agreed are a mess and a sham and a continuation of the same old balls up we see year in year out2 points

There are a lot of question marks over Kasper Andersen. The rule is clear that an established average has to have been achieved in the Premiership/Championship to be able to double up. Then, as the conversion rate is 1.5 Andersen is 4 in the Premiership, it must mean he's a 6 for Sheffield and not the 5.20 of last season. That'll also take Sheffield almost half a point over the Championship limit.2 points

Nothing corrupt about it. Kasper comes in on a 4.00 assessed average which he had with King's Lynn in 2018. Due to not completing enough meetings due to injury, he will maintain his 4.00 assessed average. There is however a problem with him doubling up. The BSPA announced from the AGM that doubling up isn't possible in the Premiership unless the rider has an established average of more than 4.50 in the Championship. Kasper should only be allowed in 1 league with either King's Lynn or Sheffield. It should go with who signed him first.2 points

so Ipswich cannot use drew Kemp as he has a assessed championship average yet kings Lynn can use Andersen who also has a assessed championship average. And premierships clubs wonder why nobody wants to join this corrupt league.2 points

Unfortunately there is a statutory duty of care and despite disclaimers, statutory rights cannot be waived. I did mention it's complex and trust me it is. I had the displeasure to act as an independent consultant to a firm of solicitors representing a "rider" who was injured on a non licensed Speedway Training Track, the claim had merit because the track was unlicensed and operated outside the rules of any recognised federation and that the operators having chosen to operate a "training event" outside the protection of the off road regulations were culpable and had a duty of care for the welfare of the participant and a due responsibility to manage, coach and instruct in such a way that he remained safe at all times. This was purely because there were no rules in place for either the Plaintiff or Defendant to rely on. Again this was complex but without motive I was able to convince the Barrister that the "rider" (trainee in their words) had not followed the instructions he was given at the safety briefing, I was able to find other participants who had recorded footage of the safety briefing and this rider "behaving" in a different way to the other riders in the same session. The barrister agreed that even though the case would probably succeed any award would be diminished by the contributory negligence of the rider. As the Solicitors were on a punt they asked the rider to meet their costs before taking further action, you can guess the rest - gone away. Hopefully the gentleman's collarbone and broken arm have fully healed.2 points

Why does Sings have to be supportive of a team they don’t support signing a poor journeyman?2 points

Very funny post! but seriously is it sad (even alarming) when posters on this forum look to have far more idea how to run U.K. speedway than the B.S.P.A.? May-be they (BSPA) could get Mike Atkins to give them a few pointers he's a man that knows everything....(joke) Any news on the Rebels front.2 points

Shouldn't be too hard to set up a new company either ? Here we are on 11th January 2019 and the new limited company announced by the BSPA on the 14th November 2018, The British Speedway Promoters Association Limited, to take effect from 1st December 2018, doesn't show as registered at Companies House. I trust that has nothing to do with the delay, e.g. we'd like to take the cheque / bond/ guarantee but we don't have a legal entity to accept it yet. All admin in speedway is a bit suspicious, we're still waiting for the results of the 'full investigation' by the SCB of the cancellation of Eastbourne v Mildenhall fixture on 26 October last year. p.s. I had to search for the R&R reference......it's in the Birmingham thread.1 point

I fully accept that teams have to meet the requirements of the league but removing all mention of the club Websites strikes me as counter productive to promoting the sport. I do not have a problem with some heading saying that the team have not yet completed all the formalities of moving up from the National league.1 point

Judging by his record, so far, as The Man in Charge at the BSPA, it will likely crumble beneath his feet while he's looking around believing that the is on top of things!1 point

But that's a nonsense. You can't just start a new season with new rules with a out dated previous seasons assessed average. That's just bonkers. The averages assessed for both Premiership and Championship must be the same. Multiply or divide the conversion. 2019 is a new season and rider's on assessed averages then revert to the current season. Kasper should be 4.00 Premiership and 6.00 Championship. Taking Sheffield's average over the limit by 0.42.1 point

Very good point, the bond can be made up of actual money or assets which everyone knows are effectively worthless except upon paper. Im still surprised the Harris has the cheek to say he was under paid after some of his Rye House efforts, would have thought £2.50 and a packet of wotsits would have covered it. Its beautifully ironic that riders "can't make it pay" so jack up their prices, put clubs out of business and then don't get paid at all (maybe if they weren't so greedy they would still be taking a wage). Also the bspa, the governing body that has the "best interests of speedway" at its heart is determined to keep Rye House closed and see one of the limited speedway venues the country has lost to the sport.1 point

Did they not say that a rider cannot ride in the Premiership unless he has an Established average over 3. They must have changed the rule to allow a rider to do both leagues if his assessed average allows.1 point

Drew Kemp is ruled out by the magnitude of his average, not the fact it is assessed.1 point
-
Don't forget that Kemps "assessed" base average doesn't qualify on the conversion rate as he would have to be 4.5 or more in the Champs (we all know the bitter irony that one more meeting changes everything)1 point

Don't like the idea of a super league that much, but the idea of a British club entering the top flight polish league offers a range of benefits to both nations. I think the marketing potential for polish companies into the British market is probably pretty appealing to Polish sponsors, and of course there is already a lucrative tv deal in place meaning every meeting is live on tv, that will be the main revenue earner, with the gate receipts being a bonus. I think the Poole, Belle Vue, and Bees are probably the most famous names outside of GB (so Pearson and Tattum have said many times, the world famous....) so probably most marketable. And the sort of fixtures the NSS was built for. Unlike many nice notions and well intended ideas on here I actually think if the right people got behind it, could be set up within a couple of seasons. Logistics aren't that big of an issue with riders on planes as often as pilots during the season anyway. Could it happen, possibly. Will it happen, I very much doubt it.1 point

They pulled the plug mid season due to mounting losses and I suspect they are in dispute with the bspa over money owed to riders amongst others. A naive promotion faced with the change of race night they didn’t expect to impact so badly on their business The place is a speedway venue and with the lack of clubs in the area it surly will come back one day.1 point

I hate it when he says a totally different rider, sometimes one who is not even in the race1 point

Those riders who would ride for nothing are driven by ambition not by financial gain , there must be quite a few riders with great potential who have walked away because their face didn't fit , some of the people on the inside of speedway are downright vindictive ,1 point

I run the Newcastle Training school usually on a Sunday afternoon, and have done since I started it 10 years ago. Riders are provided with all the gear and the bikes, and they can be of any ability or sex. I have little starter bikes (80 and 90 cc's) and the 125/140cc's bikes as the limit for my type of training school is limited to 150cc by SCB regs. I charge £3, and that is for the medical cover I have to pay. Riders are supervised at first to determine their ability, and so beginners start with a trainer on the bike, who eventually hands over control of the bike. The new riders are then out on their own and given instruction what to work on and what to do. My Gems team has 5 riders to pick from who all had their first rides on a speedway bike at the training school, and they ride in the only home grown team in the country. Currently we have Archie Freeman(14 years old)l who last year was British Youth Champion at 150cc level, and NJL 125 champion, and the highest average in the NJL. He is now a member of the No Limits squad mentioned above with Rory Schlein. Josh Embleton(22) is the 2018 Champion of the NJL at the 500cc level, rode for Birmingham in the NL last year and is currently looking for a place in the NL in 2019 . There are other riders who started with us who have moved on to other NJL teams and one at Championship level. As others have hinted at, the junior scene is currently way more advanced that the sport was a few years ago, under the umbrella on Neil Vatcher and now SCB. We have probably got the best crop of young British riders for over 10 years.1 point

As a buyer and subscriber also from day one, I think it logical to extend the timeframe. As a lapsed speedway fan who stopped attending in 1978, to fill in the gaps in the 80's and hopefully now the 90's would be a real boon. Just don't forget the 70's along the way, other than that go for it................1 point

BIRMINGHAM have appointed Terry Chrabaszcz as their new track curator for the 2019 season. He takes over from the outgoing duo of John Priest and Arthur Browning who will both be enjoying retirement.Chrabaszcz already has experience of working on the Perry Barr circuit having been a member of the track team during the Brummies’ previous senior league racing days.Co-owner David Mason said: “First and foremost we would like to wish John and Arthur all the best for the future.“They’ve spent many, many hours over the past few years ensuring Birmingham have had a quality racing surface on racenights; they’ve done a great job and we hope they come and visit us at points throughout the season.“Once we knew they wouldn’t be with us for the 2019 season we wanted to get someone with equal amounts of, if not more, experience than them.“Terry ticks all the boxes; he’s worked on the Perry Barr track before, he’s local which is a big bonus, and he’s got so much knowledge and expertise when it comes to track preparation.“He’s worked on numerous tracks up and down the country over the years and the way he turned Stoke around last season was unbelievable from what I’m told.“Obviously we’re moving up into the Championship this year and this calibre of rider prefer a totally different surface to the National League boys.“So we’re going to be putting some more shale down before the start of the new season and there’ll be plenty more dirt out there if the boys want it.“With the team of battlers and entertainers we’ve got plus the fact we’re going to have a new approach to track preparation, I really do believe we’re in for some breathtaking racing and some fantastic meetings this year.”1 point

Poor? Averaged 4-5 and unquestionably a better rider than he was back then....He's not signed as a big hitter but someone who can average at least 5.....if he doesn't cut the mustard then shouldn't be too hard to to replace but I'm confident he will do ok1 point

The bond I think may only cover debts to riders at what is regarded as 'standard rates' Concensus seems to be the Rye deals were far from standard It may well be that the riders therefore consider they are still owed for the 9 meetings even if the standard rate has been paid out Just speculation on my part - I have no information or evidence as proof and no knowledge as to whether any payment has been made0 points
