Just out of curiosity, where did the contempt/hatred towards Glasgow come from? Workington fans have been putrid on here towards us. Revelling in a statement that our promoters may not invest their hard earned into the club after next year. What is the reason for it? We don't even get this level of abuse from the 0131's. As I have said before, many times, it seems people would rather we had went out of business. Or did everyone just prefer their easy points when we were rolling up with the O'Malley's and Horwoods of the world? Instead that Faccenna's have created a very good racing facility and have the most productive and forward thinking promoting team out there. This promotion has also brought many new fans in through the gate, some of which now travel to away matches. Yet people still want to slaughter them. The backward thinking mentality of some people will close the sport down in this country for good.8 points

Honestly I know the two deals were not that far apart on points money, it was the "add on's" and fringe benefits that swung the deal, and again being honest I did not get to find out what those "add on's" were (and if I did I wouldn't be putting it out on here that's for sure) but at the end of the day Workington's last offer fell short so that was the end of it, and again at the end of the day if Glasgow can afford it they can offer what they want with as many bells and whistles attached. It is between the rider and the club and that's it. In fact even if they cant afford it they can still offer what the want. Ultimately a rider will do what he perceives as to what is best for himself and his career and there isn't much loyalty in sport these days and that is any sport for that matter not just Speedway. Finally you know what my grump was, (and it wasn't the deal) so I wont rake over those coals again. Mr Uluru from down under has made a valid point as too has Sing13 and Glasgow have paid over their monies and they will take their chance on a rider who is a hot property at the moment and definitely a talent on a bike and like most Danes is a consummate professional who; and again if I am totally honest was a pleasure to work with last season and always gave 100% effort; when others sometimes spat the dummy, So I do hope he kicks on this season and the Glasgow fans get see what he can do. #SpecialJ I will watch his progression through the sport with interest, he's a genuine kid (and his old man is a good lad too) and a talented Speedway rider whose aggression and control on a bike was fantastic to watch. So much being aired on Poole 2019 Forum as to who won the league last season , it's getting a bit silly. People must be bored to continue this pointless discussion ongoing. We all know KL were the better team on actual league position as were Somerset but ultimately all the record will show is as what is shown on the SGB's own website - Home Page under ROLL OF HONOUR PREMIERSHIP CHAMPIONS: POOLE PREMIERSHIP RUNNERS UP: KINGS LYNN Until the powers that be change anything on the League Format (if they ever would), this is what will be remembered in the records and not who topped the League. If you want evidence of that look at 2010. Poole finished way out on top by 17 points from Wolves and a massive 26 points ahead of Coventry. But Coventry beat Poole in the Play Off Final and all the record show is that Cov were Champs and Poole Runners up. Now can we get back to the subject of Poole 2019 as history is written and behind us now.4 points

Well, it might be true, it might not. I'm taking the Worky moans and Tigers' howls of derision with equal quantities of salt. But if I was going shopping with ten grand and a new bike under my arm, I reckon I'd be wanting to get a bit more in exchange than a 25-year-old Danish journeyman who has only pushed his 6.56 average at Plymouth in 2013 average all the way up to 6.59 last season.4 points

Yea. Ashley out and our Ashley back in. Think, and hope, he will be back with us where he started to realise his potential, after losing his teamplace at Worky, Peterborough, etc. Got to be remembered that Ashley waited for a teamplace with us before we confirmed we were running in 2018. Riders like that, loyal to a promotion, are hard to come by and deserve to be in queue before others. He rode in my afternoon training school late in the season, and loved being with the young riders, and especially riding on the small bikes that the kids first ride. He was in his element and everyone loved having him there for that day.4 points

Youve got a rider who will always turn up and give 100%, is entertaining to watch and takes time to speak with the fans. Good signing for you. Ignore all the crap that’s posted on here about him.4 points

I think its more of - starts well but as the season goes on not much is invested in equipment and struggles then on the flymo's!!4 points

Some comments on here about Ulrich & Simon are a bit harsh in my opinion. Neither are going to be world champions but they turned up, tried hard & put the club first. People were (rightly) quick to moan when some of the star names we've had seemed to pick & choose what meetings they fancied.4 points

Basically the hate ball started rolling from November 14th on page 14 of this thread.....not pointing any fingers though.....lol Sad thing is, some naive people , who don't seem to realise that speedway is and always has been a ruthless and fickle game, are being caught up and getting too serious about the whole thing. Workington and Glasgow have had a good relationship in the past and this should be maintained. These political and managerial things happen.......let's get on with enjoying our speedway.3 points

Most of these sponsors can afford to write of that sort of money Glasgow seem to have a good few that are willing to help riders How to promote a club3 points
-
As Gerry Facenna said in his tv interview it was with a few different sponsors help that they managed to secure some of this years riders so if the sponsor wants to write off some money he is free to do so whether it be vans rolling chassis Kevlar's engines which are all given back at the end of the season it’s really up to them3 points

Flippin heck averages averages averages.....don't use them to decry a rider it doesn't add up.....all of us who saw Ramus perform in the latter part of Comets triumphant season had evidence aplenty of his crowd pleasing input....a joy to watch for sure...........stuff the averages.3 points

So Glasgow offered rasmus Jensen 10k and a bike JUST to sign for the season, how do they have the face to plead povertity in the speedway star just a few weeks earlier?? Desperately trying to buy the league trophy, and in doing so stuffing up every other club In British speedway. All you get out of riders now when negotiations take place is Glasgow have offered this...... As if the sport isn't in enough trouble without Glasgow pulling tricks like this. Let's just hope they win something next year or who knows what desperate measures they'll make next. Sadly though I can't see them winning anything with the team they have put together, sarjent at 2, starke at 4 an two week reserves that's way two long of a tail.3 points

I have read chapter and verse how he weaselled his way into Rangers , getting control, getting the stand naming, the merchandising, the rights and putting Lambias in to run it for him. Lambias I read, I think in Keagans recent biography, was the most horribleist person he ever had to deal with. Some reputation eh, he came to us to be Managing Directory on the basis that he headed up a Casino. Sounds about right for him. Incidently, it was also rumoured the we go Pardew only cos he was cheap as he owned a lot of money gambling it away in Lambias's Casino. I'll leave my thoughts out on Wise. Lets hope we are both rid of the High Street saviour pretty soon.3 points

The full story was that Kings Lynn failed in their attempt to win the Premiership, and Poole were Premiership Champions...3 points

Good luck to him, he will be decent for you unless he unleashes the flymo's ....3 points

Thorssell is an absolute must signing on his average. With him in the side it would give Morris, Thorssell and Howarth all with scope to increase their averages, potentially significantly. If Becker is a 4.00 and gets dialled in to Monmore he too could improve. A VERY good looking team so far.3 points

With rumours of unpaid riders that go through speedway, I’d say it’s the riders who take financial risks too.3 points

Or if Somerset didn’t lose Holder, or have only 1 rider in a race Poole can only beat what’s in front of them not their fault but they got lucky As for Harris he was bang average in both legs of the final so on his higher average and the fact he is declining makes perfect sense for him not to be at Poole. He has the odd good ride here and there like the Doyle race but they are few and far between and although it gets the crowd going and boosts morale , ultimately speedway is about points scoring and Harris isn’t good enough on that new average2 points

Yes is the answer. kid being free anywhere else kids have to pay , so therefore I’m currently saving money so if kids stay free and we adults ha e to pay a wee bit extra that’s fine by me further more , what else can you get for £15 in Berwick on a Saturday night ? Takeaway meal probably costs the same and I guess the 10 minutes eating it is entertainment a night out to the pub hmm £30 - £50 , are the Berwick pubs entertainment? Go out for a meal , probably about £50 , Watch Berwick Rangers , do not know what that cost , would that be entertainment? go and watch a premier league match mega bucks for that day out The town is in dire straits, we so lucky to have speedway, and it brings a lot of extra folks into the town when the likes of Glasgow , Edinburgh , Workington, Sheffield and Newcastle are here , think fans should either suck it up if there is a price increase or simply don’t go2 points

It is normal to expunge results from the records and that includes rider averages. How can you keep an average from a meeting which has been expunged? I’m only surprised it took so long for them to do.2 points

He is tying up our retail department day after day in litigation just because he can , he is an absolute horrible specimen, it would be good idea for him to set foot in Ibrox as he wouldn't leave under his own steam , he is despised up here every bit as much as he is on Tyneside.2 points

Which also gives him the opportunity to be with him at meetings on days when he is not riding, so everyone's a winner.2 points

He didn’t win the league for us at all. He didn’t go and bang in 15 points a meeting. He has an actual average on 6.91 not 7.5 Also I’m allowed to not be the biggest fan of bomber. And I’m not the biggest fan of bomber.2 points

Poor Pboro. Getting stuck with Harris. Ford masterstroke! Not worth that 7.5 ish average he is on with the 2.5%!2 points

Totally agree with you there, however he wasn't fit and it is now history, but that is why I think we should have cookie again next season as he brought a feel good factor after a disastrous 2017 capitulation and a mediocre start to 2018, he brings passion and was helpful to the rest of the team and tbh I dont really care if we win the league or not, I like to see good racing and a happy team , and Workington deserved to win it all last year as they were the best throughout the season. Before everyone starts saying that Cook is too good for the league and will probably win by half a lap etc, I agree he probably will, but if he misses the gate he is awesome to watch lining up the opposition to pass and that is worth watching for me.2 points

Given Nicholls local connections I'd be quite happy having him back and possibly even making him captain. To allow king to concentrate on his riding assuming king is returning. However we certainly need some fresh young blood so no thank you to Harris.2 points

That you just realising how corrupt speedway is ? By the way , i'm on the nightshift , what's your reason for being on here at this ungodly hour lol Seriously John , take a step back . Speedway is still a fantastic spectacle to be enjoyed if you can ignore the rule bending , oneupmanship and the politics that goes on behind the scenes . 4 brave rides going at it inches apart ( well on some tracks ) , that's all you need .2 points

Not Bull crap I’m afraid , you know we are a close knit community here in Workington how sad Glasgow wanted to sign our 1-7 , can’t put their own winning team together , only managed to poach 1 ...but as THJ has said this is Scunny’s thread keep the bull for Glasgow one2 points
