The Glasgow promotion has thrown tons of money to push awareness of the sport in the city. But it hasn't worked. Indeed, the club has sent out a warning and reverted to the tried and tested formula of allowing volunteers to raise part of the club running costs. We have had over the last 20 years so much live speedway on our screens to encourage any younger person to become interested. It hasn't worked. Promoters haven't a clue. Fans believe they have ideas to sort it out but clash when pitched against the ideas of another fan. Reading the Speedway Star is so depressing. We had a glimmer of hope with the Writing On The Wall edition last week. But that did little to halt a further decline in the sport and nothing really mouth watering came from the AGM. Trying to encourage new people is like flogging a dead horse. Current fans will continue to become discouraged over the next year or two and realise there is no point of following a sport in which the rules are not worth keeping track of and we look at the future of the sport as far ahead as the next meeting. Teams are banded together like a school football match for a PE lesson. You really begin to believe it's a waste of time putting too much energy into supporting it; like a week is a long time for a speedway track. Here today, gone tomorrow. This week is even more distressing than the pre-AGM build up. Who is excited about 2019 and is actually wishing the days away for the start of March and a brand new season? I remember those days. At least next spring is only six months away from another crucial AGM.4 points

If two of the other clubs(or maybe even just one) had pulled out, the Premiership would have folded no matter what Chapman did. It isn't just down to him. However, it is down to him buying into Peterborough & Ipswich that the Premiership is able to continue in 2019. It is typical of the attitude of some members of this forum that a man saving not just a team but an entire league can be twisted into something suitable for negative comment. Its little wonder that the forum itself is often regarded as utterly without credibility.4 points

Its a bit of fun and a major feat to build a half decent team to 38 points. I could have included Tai in my effort doesn't mean he is signing. So chill out and lets see who signs for who.3 points

Talking of Bacon, he guested for Wolves back end of last year and did quite well, scores of 4+1(4), 6+2 (4), 3+2 (4), does that not give him an average of 5.5 GSA & 6 CMA? Grondal last rode in the Premiership for Swindon, did he not average 3.5 and get dropped? Why would you chose Grondal over Bacon?3 points

Part of my point here is that there are some who can't wait to stick the boot in, no matter what. If Peterborough had closed and the Premiership disbanded they would have taken great delight in blaming Chapman for that. I don't think its just the clubs that owe him a debt, its speedway as a whole. He has been much maligned over the past year or so and some it was fully justified, but I really don't see how anyone connected with the sport can give him anything but praise and credit where this is concerned - money where his mouth is comes very much to mind. As to integrity, I think speedway (again as a whole) lost that some time ago.3 points

Personaly I don't see any encouraging signs after the outcome of the AGM,looks like another sticking plaster job to me.Disapointing IMO .3 points

I think you will find it is for all riders that have been in the NL, nothing to do with nationality, but as usual the lack of statement details is not helpful.3 points

having seen the recent wage demands of two riders slighly over a 4 average,i think the penny has dropped that all the clowns have done by reducing the average in the CL is to increase the value of lower avaerge riders the two i saw were asking for more than Scunny`s top 3 cost last year there simply isnt enough riders in the 4 to 5 point bracket to go around-- running at 38 points will not reduce cost one bit,it just moves the cost elsewhere better to have gone with 6 rider teams and created a surplus, this would have done more to reduce cost than a lower limit3 points

I would suggest quizzes as a solution to the Chris Harris funding gap but by his own admission he isnt smarter than a 10 year old3 points

Starting the season with 7 teams, can we really have 4 teams qualifying for the play-offs? More teams qualify than don't?! Some sporting credibility could be maintained if only the top 3 qualify, with the team finishing top going straight into the final.2 points

If the NL turns into a glorified SDL who is going to pay to watch it. Last season most clubs were charging £13, which was too much for the product on offer. For those clubs left in a watered down NL, it's going to be hard to sell their product to Joe Public.2 points

Me too. I wouldnt be if Leicester were still in the PL but CL with more teams has renewed my enthusiasm for 2019.2 points

It is just plain wrong that two or more clubs in the same league are under the influence of the same person/company/promoters. No other self respecting sport allows this and casts massive doubt on the integrity of speedway, the independence of teams and indeed its long term survival. Yes it would be good to have an overall supremo - but that person must have no ties to an individual club/team/league.2 points

I would be very surprised if Jack wasn’t included in the 2019 team, my only concern his 7.35 average I likely to make him number 1, we would then require a Chris Holder 7.16 or similar rider in the team to take the number 1 strain after the first set of averages.2 points

So good news redcar will be runing more teams and was told terry the track man is comeing back next season. So here to a good season and hope a good team?2 points

Tom Brennan has started his Australian tour in good fashion. On the podium at Mildura (Cam Woodwards home track?) He fished 3rd behind J Stewart and Justin Sedgeman with Zach Waj in 4th. A good start indeed on a strange track. I have mixed feelings about moving up to CL. Whilst not really in favour I have to say that the prospect of a probable return of Bradley Wilson Dean and who knows even perhaps Adam Ellis, Eddie Kennett and Scott Nicholls with Tom and Georgie as reserves does bear thinking about. If we stay NL we have to face the possibility of a low points limit and only being able to keep Tom, Charlie Brooks and Jason Edwards.2 points

Just so excited to have speedway back next year, and would be happy with each of the 3 line ups you have come up with Marksman. If Nicolai is not racing in the championship next year I would definitely like to see Ty back however. The 38 limit will make it more challenging for teams to select their line-up. I certainly favour the 'Comets way' of strength in depth over say a Cookie and 6 others - after all he can only get 18 himself and only then if his team are getting stuffed in any case. It will certainly be interesting to see the different approaches to team building. I, like others, just hope we have Razzer tied down already. Happy days, and still basking in the glory of 3 (three) bits of silverware.2 points

You could also argue that an even lower points level would have been an idea, there'll still be clubs over reaching their finances just to reach this one.2 points

It least he is honest !!! If I owned Lynn I’d give them a crap team as it would help my team. The fans and Chris Louis wanted more fixtures with more varied opposition. I believe Chris was frustrated by the lack of change and sold up as for him as his sole income would not be viable. 14 pay days per year is no good to anyone. Doubling up is continuing instead of ceasing. If you double the fixtures in the championship and make all teams have nl standard reserves so they get track time. Exclude the top 22 riders from the championship and give them premiership places. Only British riders to double up and problem solved !!2 points

Fantastic news we are running next year, I always had faith we would be. It will be tougher than ever to build a good solid team with 38 points, but IF we retain at least 5/6 of this years team we will be flying again, would love Nicolai to come back but don't think he'll be riding 2 leagues in Britain, with maybe more commitments abroad. With that i worked out a few hypothetical teams based on last years team; I really like the 3rd one, but it's probably the least likely of the 3. 1 Rene Bach 7.19 2 Rasmus Jensen 6.59 3 Dan Bewley 6.62 (6.79) 4 Mason Campton 6.32 5 Ty Proctor 6.96 6 Georgie Wood 2.32 7 Kyle Bickley 2.00 Total 38.00 1 Rene Bach 7.19 2 Bradley Wilson Dean 6.00 3 Dan Bewley 6.62 (6.79) 4 Mason Campton 6.32 5 Rasmus Jensen 6.59 6 Jack Smith 2.99 (3.07) 7 Kyle Bickley 2.00 Total 37.71 1 Rene Bach 7.19 2 Zach Wajtknecht 5.19 3 Dan Bewley 6.62 (6.79) 4 Mason Campton 6.32 5 Rasmus Jensen 6.59 6 Jordan Stewart 4.09 7 Kyle Bickley 2.00 Total 38.002 points

So many things in Speedway are simple & easy - then they get made complicated. One of Speedway greatest "simple" things is riders are (should be) paid per point scored, if promoters set sensible, realistic & affordable rates per point for each league & all agree to stick to those rates speedway in the U.K. would be in a much better place! Riders will then know what's on offer wherever they ride & cut their cloth to suit. If the rates are not except-able they need to look elsewhere for employment.2 points

They have got a bit of a front at Glasgow. They come in ,throw money around like confetti , sign a Grand Prix rider to ride in the 2nd Division then have the nerve to complain their losing money.2 points

Probably at this time Bacon was one of if not the most improved riders in the Championship in 2018 - a great shame he ended up on the injured list Given that Id say he would be better in the 2nd tier again next year but if he comes back strong after the injury could well be capable of a breakthrough to the next level2 points

The other teams in the league need to tell him that if he can't get riders then it up to him to change HIS fixtures and he can go to hell if he thinks he is going to do what he did last year.2 points
