Shame your management didn't think that way instead of acting like spoilt brats when Poole lost both matches.13 points

Here we go! Wait for the doom and gloom prediction of Pooles likely struggle to score more than 305 points

This from someone who automatically claims every other team is going to be stronger and Poole weaker whenever a guest or r/r is needed.5 points

There are four groups of riders as far as the Ben Fund goes. Firstly there are riders good enough to bring in fans who are regularly committed to the event. This group includes Ben Barker, Steve Worrall, Chris Harris, Rory Schlein. Secondly there is an equally committed group of not-so-good riders who will always ride but really just make up the numbers. They deserve equal applause. Then there are those who will do it if pushed and if they have nothing better to do. They will then pull out without any feeling of guilt if a paid booking crops up. A substantial number of riders did that on this occasion. They don't realise that this is the LAST meeting you should pull out of, not the first. And finally there are those who won’t even consider doing it. They get asked and don’t even return calls. Support from the promoters comes from just one or two who are prepared to offer tracks to stage the meeting or to push their riders into competing. But generally they are not supportive, individually or as a group. Because I am involved I do know a lot of scare stories about riders and promoters who don’t give a damn about the Ben Fund. I consider it truly shocking. But I can’t name names unfortunately because that has to be Paul Ackroyd’s call. Fortunately Paul is a strong character otherwise the whole business would bring him down.5 points

Just for Information It's looking like a busy month for the Comets This weekend 5th/7th October No Fixtures at present primarily due to the Internationally Famed Scottish Cup Final (all that moaning about red hot summers and not putting in important fixtures) (because the Comets are just out and out naughty! Doh!) (oh and the importance of said "Scottish Cup" so Glasgow can at least guarantee a "pot to pish in") (come on the Monarchs)(never thought I would here myself say that)(however just for Dotty) Next Weekend 12th /14th October Glasgow Twisters vs Comets; Ashfield Friday 12th October 2018 Play Off Semi Final 1st Leg Comets vs Twisters; Derwent Park Saturday 13th October 2018 Play Off Semi Final 2nd Leg Hammers vs Comets; Rye House Stadium Sunday 14th October Shield Final 1st Leg Following Weekend 19th /21st October (Bit more sketchy unfortunately) Comets vs Hammers Derwent Park (either Saturday or Sunday)(Double Header) Comets vs Hammers Sat/Sun Shield Final 2nd Leg (followed by) Comets vs Hammers Sat/Sun Championship League meeting These days/dates for the Hammers matches are a bit in flux at present and dependant on the outcome of the Glasgow/Workington play off semi finals and the Scunthorpe/Peterborough KO Cup Semi Final as there are other teams involved here and not forgetting the Hammers so with a few different outcomes possible. There are also issues over the availability of the Showground and Rye House Stadium over this weekend and the following one 26th/28th October (to be fair outwith the respective promotions hands unfortunately) So if there are rain offs or stadium availability issues it will probably result in mid-week matches having to be arranged. Furthermore if Glasgow do beat Workington they will claim their play off final takes precedence over anything Worky want to do due to their clout and self importance so Worky will have to wait until Glasgow decide (who is fit and when they are available and where they want to run the meeting home/away first with dates on vellum paper probably) before Workington can arrange their own cup finals (you know the cup competitions everyone went in for at the start of the season) (not just two teams). Luckily the Australian GP was sorted and will not impinge on anything further Glasgow will want to arrange. (now that is clout) Keep watching the usual media for the latest meeting information and just hope it doesn't rain. Regards THJ4 points

A couple of posts I totally agree with. Gavan acts passive aggresive so that people are conned into thinking he just has an honest opinion, when what he is really doing is trolling the Poole threads in a vindictive manner. Very weird for a so called fan of a club not even in the same league as Poole! Clearly he is envious of Poole’s continued success and has to slag us off at every opportunity. His limited knowledge of the sport shows through loud and clear for everyone to see when he thinks Poole are strengthened with r/r for Brady. Utterly ridiculous and guff of course and he knows it, but attempts to defend that by bringing up Bradys last few meetings. Anyone with any knowledge of the sports knows we are quite severely weaked without Kurtz. What us Poole fans hope will happen is that we can win the league this year. Then we can ask Gavan to congratulate Poole on our continued success. Let’s see if he is man enough to do it.3 points

He proved beyond doubt that wearing your 1980s wedding suit at a speedway meeting was acceptable3 points

Gavan, Shov is a wind up merchant. He loves his speedway and is a passionate Poole fan. His other passion is winding other supporters up. He’s done it for years and he did it as a kid. I knew him as a teenager and he was the same. You take him far too seriously3 points

Not looking good for Saturdays PO 1st leg rain all night forecast at the moment better look at a mid week fixture or we are going to run out of time just bet the BSPA would just love that as there must be a reason why they refused to let us race on 4 Fridays during the summer3 points
-
Plus we don't even know what replacement we have for Brady yet, so how anyone can work out it's stronger is laughable.3 points
-
Poole were being ridiculed after a few months for being bottom and losing at home etc... made some decent signings and now could win the league. Id say its a pretty good effort to be honest , even if they dont win the league from here3 points
-
Lets be perfectly honest, Glasgow have plenty of history with on and off track violence over the years. Lindqvist/Beveridge at Newport in 1999 when Beveridge decided to boot Lindqvist in the shoulder when he was lying on the ground, with his steel shoe. Then theres the following year when Andre Compton who was guesting for Newport at the time had to have a police escort out the stadium, thats without numerous other occasions. The fans on the whole are great though.3 points

A stunning effort lol. The hottest pre season favourites for many years .......make 13 changes........benefitted from Rye closing and avoided injuries.......and you think that’s a stunning effort It’s like congratulating Man City on making the top four lol Even now in the final missing Kurtz helps Poole as well Anything less than a Poole win will be failure after being hot favourites, and loads of changes to not then be champs will be a disappointment3 points
-
Would think not, as I understand the top four teams in the play offs can only have guests from teams not involved in the play offs, think this is from semi finals onwards, but it is speedway and anything can happen, especially if Glasgow want a guest for cookie3 points

Nine pages of guff already and we’ve still five days to go2 points

Of course I am not throwing the towel in. We are “The Mighty” Poole Pirates and we will never give up. But there’s no denying the odds are against us.2 points

Subscription is the way to go. I use to buy mine at various news agents over the years and on the odd occasion at the track but with subscription it falls through the letter box on a Thursday with very few hick ups. Possibly on a Friday but that is down to the post not the Star and what is more you save money. Agree I would be lost without it and I am an anorak who use to buy all the speedway news papers/magazines, Speedway Express, Speedway Mail etc.2 points

This argument seems to get rehashed a fair bit.. Along with "there are no superstars anymore" I Guarantee that we can look back and someone was saying this 10 years ago and in 10 years it'll be said again. Just a human trait, we all look back with rose tinted specs..2 points

I used to be a fan of Formula 1. These days I watch it on TV and even then usually only the start and first few laps and then I dip in from time to time and watch the last few laps. I can't really be bothered when passing usually depends on pit stops and only a select few have cars capable of winning.2 points

You're just really boring Gavan. You know that one person on the forum who everybody is sick of seeing... It must be pretty rubbish knowing you're that person. You're literally that person on the forum that everybody is sick of. Boring, boring, boring posts being passive aggressive about Poole. You're like a jealous ex. So boring.2 points

If you take Kurtz's last 4 home meetings, He has scored 2, 12, 5, 5. That's a 5.05 average over his last 4 home meetings.. Morris would score more and R/R should get over 5 points. Kurtz 2 meetings at Lynn this season, he scored 6 from 5 rides and 7 from 4, which is a 5.77 average. Ellis or Toby would score more than 5.77 imho. Moron might be a bit strong. I know he likes to have a dig, but the stats say he could have a point.. Could he not?2 points

How does missing kurtz give Poole an advantage u complete moron!! You dont half talk some crap stick 2 talking about ipswich matches oh yh i forgot your season is finished hahaha now do one!!!!2 points

Somerset’s situation on Monday shows that you really don’t want to be going into a Play Off match a man short.2 points

I believe King's Lynn touched bottom briefly at some stage this season. Team wasn't fancied, had the best away record in the Prem this season. Won it by 6 points. Had that huge comeback in the 1st leg at BV. I think it will a stunning effort if they can win it for the fist time ever2 points

I always wonder how Oxford and Cambridge always seem to make the final of the Boat Race.2 points

Haters gonna hate! Doesn't matter what Poole do it is always going to be less than what they should be doing in his eyes.2 points

Correct and rightly so They also deem getting these play off meetings completed more important than a Mickey Mouse challenge match. (under the guise of a Scottish Cup). Worky will be able to take the morale high ground over fixtures in the next few weeks as due to the commitments of other sides Jacko will have difficulty fitting in all of these required fixtures. Here's a daft idea! could the the BSPA not have made more than one deadline. The cut off for the league season was extended by one week to allow a couple of teams to complete their fixtures, however once this cut off date was reached and the protagonists for the play offs known all they needed to do was say from this cut off date you have 14 Days to arrange and complete the semi final and once those meetings are resolved another 14 days to arrange and complete the final. Everything done in a 4 week period. How hard can that be? Regards THJ2 points

Winning the championship .would be an absolutely unbelievable thing , maybe winning the premier not so much2 points
-
Not a stunning comeback lol. 12 down on aggregate with 3 races to come for the world champ.! Pre-season and team we had at the start is irrelevant. We had to get 3 5-1 advantages just to get level. It was like M City were 4-0 down at half time against Liverpool. Anything less than a Poole win is always failure for us and i can imagine the flak we would have got had we lost.2 points

When will the mods do something about this troll?2 points

A wee question about that . Since riders cant guest for another team in the play offs ( remember them Monarchs fans ) and since Son of God now rides for a shopping centre who have also made the play offs . If , this weekend , Peterborough knock the shopping centre out of the play offs . Would Son of God still be ineligible to guest for his spiritual home if Cookie was still out of action by the time we go to war with the Comets on the 12th ?2 points

Jesus Christ Dorothy , you make me look like an Angel2 points

You lost Brady because of his own reckless riding which also took out Jack and was the match winner for you. Poole won by 2 points over 30 heats, almost half of them against 4 Rebels & a useless guest.2 points

The racing at Poole was more close because Somerset was still in with a chance , Unlike King's Lynn where Belle Vue were beaten before it started2 points

On both occasions that the Hammers have run out of Rye, I have seen very few people sporting anything related to Rockets. It's been mainly Hammers and Panthers fans in attendance. Whilst we are still trying to get back to Essex, we should remain the Lakeside Hammers. Most Essex fans will not travel further to support a Rye team or a team that isn't the Hammers. Especially at a track that doesn't provide good racing. Also, Lakeside isn't that geographically specific like a city name would be. If the team can find a new home in Essex, the team should be called the Essex Hammers to get the entire county behind the team and increase the catchment area.2 points

Fair points. Of course injuries can and have wrecked seasons prior to the play offs as well. I get the facts that some feel that the team that tops the table over a full season deserve to be champions as well. However let’s not forget that there were several seasons when meaningless matches took place when teams had nothing to race for other than pride prior to the play offs as well. swings and roundabouts on which is better I guess.1 point

To be honest I thought Norwich was a lot closer to Lynn than that...my bad. I knew I should have gone to school.1 point
