  1. Just in from Workington - totally gutted BUT credit where credits due. Well done to the Comets. A total team performance, working for each other. A very jaded looking Eric tonight. Hope the Comets do the double. Laura has been a great supporter and friend to Edinburgh and no one would deserve some silverware more. A great performance clawing that deficit back. Take a bow Workington.

  3. Never been more pleased to be proved wrong? Body language said everything tonight, determination was evident right from the off that this was doable and the longer it went the more likely it looked!! Rather glad that ITV/BBC only had s**te on tonight otherwise I really would have saved my £18.50, best last five minutes decision I've made this season, wudda kicked myself if I'd missed that?

  5. Wow what a meeting....just catching my breath!! Comets fully redeemed themselves for last night and more. Thankfully with a few newbies in and a lot of monarchs fans there to witness. It had everything, controversy, a last heat decider, and even Tony Mole in attendance! Every single rider rode their heart out and reminded us why we’re proud to be comets fans. They pulled together, and brought such a good spirit that we haven’t had for years to an exciting meeting. Kyle Bickley getting better with every meeting, wants to hold his head high tonight as a very valued part of this team. Hey maybe they were spurred on by a few rival comments, they sure socked it to them. Onwards to the final and the playoffs, anything is possible when #webelieve

  6. Well well well - who'd have thunk it!! Seems Derwent Park must be the biggest 'trick track' of them all Great result for Worky

  7. The difference is nearly every Swindon fan on here has carpeted their own team and promotion rather than thinking the sun shines out of their collective arses.

  8. There is nothing wrong with the Edinburgh track regarding shape or size, just takes abit of skill to master it.

  10. o yee of little faith. if ANY comets fans decided not to attend, you missed the best meeting that has ever been raced at workington . from the off, worky were in charge and battled for every point going . the track was even set up for the monarchs team, dry as a nuns ch\\f . worky riders quick out of the starts and well in control . monarchs riders thought all they had to do was turn up and get 32 points. big mistake from them . well done to the workington team for sticking it to them . special mention to young kyle bickleyon on his contribution tonight . the young un rode very well and its coming for the lad . sad for the monarchs fans that travelled to cumbria tonight , NAA , NOT REALLY .

  11. Congratulations to The Comets. Just goes to show never ever write off your team. It is very nearly 8 years to the day the last time Edinburgh folded in the 2nd leg of a Semi Final.

  14. Cant believe what I've just seen. Never seen the lads ride with such determination and passion. If they can do that over 2 legs to Edinburgh they can do it to anyone! Well done the Comets!

  17. anyone remember the stuffing that Ipswich gave us a few seasons ago . ippo thought all they had to do was turn up and it was game over for us . but as the record shows , we sent them home packing and won on agg . that kind of result will do today . fingers x ed . up the monarchs, oops . i mean cornets .

  18. The other way is to let them go and set up and run teams in the Swedish way ( full of Superstars ) in a league of four teams only one will fail to get a medal every year, so success or near success is theirs from the start. I genuinely don't believe that they will get the 4,000 or so paying spectators for every match to pay for it. Let them bankrupt themselves giving it a go. And let the other tracks run one big league on a much more realistic, UK contracted only riders level and see which one is the more successful setup. There seems to be no one league setup which will suit all. Better to crash those four clubs ( by their own choice ) than destroy the whole sport here.

  24. It reminded me of a similar finish versus Newcastle when we needed a 5-1 to win and Stoney and Brent Werner rode four brilliant laps with a packed grandstand raising the roof....wish we could see the stand as full again...this team deserve it...

  31. Congratulations to Josh Embleton 2018 Northern Junior league Champion. 5 wins in the qualifying heats, a win in his semi-final, and a win in the final. Not all from the gate either. Well Done Josh. And also to Durham ( Archie & Danny ) for winning the County of Origin Pairs Championship, also at redcar this afternoon. A vital 3rd place in the final from the back after he totally missed the gate for Danny to back up Archie's win. The futures bright, the futures "Newcastle Gems"

  34. I think the 'home advantage' enjoyed by Edinburgh is as much to do with them putting together very strong teams as any 'trick track' situation

  36. I know i am a clever so.and so but i have visited every track in the uk, the riders ride in 3 or more.countrys these days and although i have never ridden a speedway bike in anger its a pretty basic thing turn left at end of the straight, so i.dont agree.with this talk edinburgh is a trick track its the same concept as everyother in the world !

  39. I don't think Allitt did himself any favours by his actions last Monday, or by the comments he made in the SS afterwards when referring to the incident. Its all very well for a team Manager to show passion to his riders, but doing it that way was more like a football hooligan . Someone of his position, should be more calculating, and in control of every situation. He should be setting an example to his riders, not jumping in at the first instance and behaving like an idiot.... No, I don't think he done himself or the club any favours at all.....

  41. Think some people are going over the top a bit on the Allitt,Lambert,Etheridge spat.So what no blows were landed. Some people saying attacked, physical violence, blimey worse things go on in pre-school.A bit of passion is what is needed in the sport and sometimes it ends in a little bit of handbags.Think the worse bit was Summers how he pushed Allitt, but even that made me chuckle a bit.Passion, pride and adrenalin what a combination.

  46. Win the lottery and run it as a hobby then who gives a monkey's you can be the only one in the stand.(oh and let your pals in for free) (might have to be the Euro for that to happen like eh) Chatting to one or two promoters the feed back and feel I am getting is if you do not have secondary channels of funding, bar, food, training track to rent, other facilities to let, stock cars etc to market, it becomes very difficult to run a competitive team at even championship level. Read the release from Rosco on the Robins web site he puts it in open and honest terms about an up and coming meeting (and previous ones) that have the potential to hurt their club financially and it seems indicative of the sport. Buster and Rob get stick from most quarters on here but believe me when I say they do have the best interests of the sport at heart and they are actively looking to improve (or save) where they can, but they are meeting opposition and resistance in every corner, its not my place to state what is going on but I honestly feel for these guys. Look at the post above by Tsunami, if Worky could attract (and retain) half those 2200 fans back to DP it wouldn't be a problem, so my question to you would be what has changed from then to now, what has made these people attend then and not now, what has changed so dramatically that these fans have deserted the sport in there droves (they couldn't all have died) what has changed so much to stop these fans from coming back (as I wasn't around in those days) as it is still 4 guys racing round a track. That's your answer for the Worky predicament "people through the doors" as the Worky promotion have very little scope for additional revenue schemes. Or a generous benefactor or sponsor would do it Regards THJ
