4000 was raised for Dan. Brilliant from the fans. We choose to give him money as he's 1 of our own. His like a son to us all. He's worth every penny for the entertainment he's gave us last 3 years. And heat 13. Wow. Wow. Wow. Thank you. Hope Doyle's ok, was a great match. See u in play offs stars12 points

If only we would have had a long dry summer all teams would have been able to get their 10 meetings in. Good job we didn't have 2 home and away !!!!!!!! What a farce.6 points

WELL done Chris Morton ... credit where it is due. Never wavered from his determination to produce a great track worthy of the old Hyde Road.6 points

I would, every time. Whatever the circumstances of their departure from Belle Vue, without their determination, effort, hard work, doggedness and passion the NSS would not exist. Pretty decent legacy, that. You only had to read the pages of this forum to see the scepticism, cynicism and sheer contempt that existed amongst supporters that it would ever be built and I am reliably informed that that went all the way to the top in the BSPA. It says everything that despite his self imposed exile at the anniversary meeting earlier this season the loudest acclaim was reserved for Chris Morton and I don't know a Belle Vue fan that wouldn't have him back.5 points

Nobody wants to see riders injured. What is annoying is there are a lot less fixtures than last season, the weather has been amazing and teams are still behind when it comes to completion.4 points

One idiot told me it would be ( one of the know alls who always tells people which riders Rosco has signed, but does not learn lessons from continually being wrong ) but we have a home meeting next monday in the KOC. Next season is a different question.4 points

Fabulous meeting, just slightly ruined by the anti-climax ending to heat 15. Every meeting I've seen from that track has produced fantastic racing. Heat 13 was an absolute classic. Doyle, Holder and Cook going at it hammer and tongs with Fricke at the back and seemingly a spectator to it all. I'm still not sure how he managed to win that! Well done Belle Vue on reaching the play-offs. It would have been a travesty if thry'd missed out thtough Bewley's injury.4 points

Congratulations to ALL the riders for at least giving it a go. Correct decision to call it off. I imagine it was a visability rather than the wet track. I switched off my window wipers for about ten secs on the way home to demonstrate to my passengers how bad the visability would be for the riders.3 points

Christ Berwick were only 4 points up at heat 7 ... could understand your frustration had it been around 12-13 heats ..anything could have happened Sense should prevail , but won’t , like I’ve said on another thread , cut-off date should be extended until all teams have completed their fixtures to get a fair and true result of the finishing league positions ..3 points

Honestly Bear with me on this and it's not that I disagree with you however there are numerous mitigating facts and circumstances to this fixture fiasco. The whole idea of the reduced number of fixtures was to save promotions money, it was also to give promotions a chance to run one Home meeting one week and an Away fixture the next. The reference was home/away fixtures work in other sports especially football. However what I don't think was fully appreciated is other sports tend to have squads or pools of participants/players that they can call upon, football teams have large squads of players so teams can readily bring in a replacement for anyone injured or unavailable. Speedway in this country does not operate in this manner (although it does in Poland with squads) and when riders are not available there is a clear dislike for teams to run with a Guest or Rider Replacement for unavailable/missing riders by promotions and fans alike (unless there is a serious injury then people tend to accept these facilities more readily, which I have never really understood) However Poland has had a major impact for all the reasons outlined in other parts of this forum which I wont go over again here and although it might not seem like it there was a valid reason and some methodology for the approach taken (its your call as to whether you think it has worked or not, I know mine). When organising meetings at the start of the season the majority of the promotions met in Rugby before the season kicked off to organise their own fixtures and sort out who they would ride against and when. (in previous years it was left to one promotion to sort out the fixtures and this left some promotions unhappy). So for Workington Steve Whitehead took himself down to Rugby to arrange all of his clubs fixtures. Steve had to avoid 3 Saturdays due to the stadium being used for two music events and one Rugby League event. He was approached by other promotions who gave him their preferred option on when they would like to come to Derwent Park, he did not have to twist any arms up backs to force anyone to attend when they didn't want to; and ended up with 6 or 8 Fridays (cant remember the exact figure now) rather than Saturdays to run meetings which included the 3 forced changes, Workington were under the opinion that everyone was happy and had been accommodated on nights of their choice and Workington were happy. It was then decreed that Workington could not run on Fridays due to a shortage of riders and the bulk of their fixture list had to be rearranged and this is where the problems started as clubs who had happily arranged Fridays were now reluctant to come on Saturdays as some of their riders would not be available due to other commitments and they were not prepared to race without a full compliment of riders, so that left Workington in the lurch and after they had been forced to used Dale Lamb up at Glasgow due to a lack of riders on Glasgow's preferred Friday night; was a bit rich. Although Glasgow hadn't done anything wrong it just happened that Dale was the only rider available, but did it devalue the result any or rob the fans of any entertainment that night? Consequently other clubs whose official race night was Friday who had also had issues obtaining guests expressed there frustration and clubs whose race nights were not Fridays had all there second race day meetings pulled (Workington were not the only ones impacted by this decision). So Workington not being able to run the mutually arranged Fridays and the reluctance of some promotions to agree new fixture ended up in Workington having run only 2 home fixtures by the end of June. The dreaded Double Up/Down riders and Poland were the main issue I believe and of course rider availability, so not really the race night again in my view. As for anyone hoping that clubs miss a Play Off series due to not having the correct amount of fixtures need to remember that this has already happened to a certain extent. Workington have been in the position where due to the weather they were denied the opportunity to get to the play off final. In 2012 the year Newcastle were top of the league and Scunthorpe won the Play Off, Workington did not fulfil their final away fixture against Edinburgh. A meeting they may or may not have won however Scunthorpe who had their full quota of matches run; went through to the final against Somerset; and the rest as they say was history, however to me it devalues the whole process and that doesn't happen in any other sport either. Personally I would much prefer to see teams in finals who are there on merit. What's the glory if Kings Lynn beat Belle Vue only for the Somerset/Poole meetings to be washed out from now to the end of the season? Do Kings Lynn say they are play off Champions? Probably yes but again me personally I would run until December if needs be to get to the final outcome. There are always exceptions in any sport (more so in Speedway) but a rigid cut off date that means a team that could possibly end up in the bottom half of the table going to the play offs honestly can not be right, is it? Surely? Regards THJ3 points

Comments like that this are not helpful. If you are going to comment on the crowd, I don't know, maybe you should turn up and see for yourself before peddling somebody else's unreliable and down right incorrect statement. C'mon, I'm not asking for blind optimism, just not blanket cynicism which is pretty poisonous. We've just finished top, we have a massive meeting versus BV in a few weeks, lets concentrate on making the best atmosphere we can to help the riders win the league for the very first time.3 points

Harris, Nicholls and MPT wont all get a team place at Peterborough as well as the Ulrich factor, perhaps a swap with Ipswich is on the cards , Nicholls for Drew Kemp!!!!!3 points

The track is the same as its always been Steve. Its the bikes that have changed and the consequences are that it's now much harder to ride and that has impacted the quality of racing. The bikes will continue to evolve and those tracks which can carry these bikes essentially safeguard themselves against this evolution. You'd still get quality racing on the NSS if you were riding a 70s jap, for example, like you would at Monmore, but put a modern machine at the green and it is a problem. It's a real 50/50 argument, imo the sport will always keep developing so it's the tracks that need to change. Not the bikes. Wolves was a good track, it's just irrelevant in today's speedway. Imo.3 points

Not just cause Lynn will finish top. But the top team should go to the final. With 2nd and 3rd teams riding over 2 legs to see who gets to the final. No 4th, league to small.3 points

Me too. Got to the M4 services just after 5pm and it rained heavily no sign of a break, turned round and we returned home, so glad we missed that fiasco2 points

Well he would wouldn't he, amazing how Berwick fans, can say they have been robbed of an away result when they are only leading by 4 points after 6 races , in one race the scores could have been level, your own rider won heat 6 3 seconds slower than the previous race which tells me the track was rideable but not raceable , so what do Berwick fans want , a win at any cost with possible injuries to riders . I know I would prefer to see good racing rather than riders risking life and limbs just to please a few disgruntled fans.2 points

For me it wasnt a miserable hour in the rain To see the control and track craft from Drew in heat 4 to retain 3rd when boxed in and under severe pressure was worth whatever admission money I dont get back and ending up soaked through In any circumstances that wouldve been a fantastic effort but in tonights conditions it was remarkable and a truly sublime piece of riding2 points

Anyone who was at Foxhall will know there was only one possible decision. Got to feel for Berwick though.2 points

Second time we’ve been shafted whilst winning away, absolute travesty that we completed all of our home meetings in time and we’re not going to make the play offs because of an extended deadline and everyone else not bothering to run home meetings against us2 points

Ipswich fecking about using Garcia’s breakdown as a reason? Those points were coming back to Berwick for sure now got to try for a 4th time2 points

If your not confident your team can will on the most entertaining surface you can provide and doctor the track accordingly then you really need to look at something else to do and leave this great sport of ours alone.2 points

So you think Covatti got three zeros last night on purpose. So May is astute but if Poole had done it you would have said they were cheats.2 points

But what is more important, brilliant races and losing, or grippier track and winning. That's a big question. I have witness many years when our track was of no home advantage and the opposition loved to race here. Yes, we have seen some wonderful races, but have won only a handful of trophies, never the big one. Now we have the opportunity to write our name in the history books, and to me any help from the track preparation would be most welcome. You may depend that the Rebels and Poole will have their track to suit them . I feel for Belle Vue because every rider loves the track and the home advantage is minimal, if they were to change it, then it would be a handicap to BV as well.. The only fact that is important is the score. You wont read in the books that the Lynn meeting was fantastic all you well see is the result... So if we have to witness 15 G & G races to win, then so be it. We can prepare the track to entertain next year2 points

Id agree with that. He has been absolutely superb and has to be the first name on our team sheet regardless of league structure next year.2 points

I'd certainly like Harris, Woryna, Klindt and Jackobsen back next year and work the rest of the team around them.2 points

Fantastic achievement by the Stars to finish top of the league. No more negativity. Let's all get behind the Stars and roar them on to be champions.2 points

Then you do not have to listen to some of the mistakes Nigel makes, he named the wrong rider at least twice last night.2 points

Not at all, when the track is super grippy, all the riders have equal traction, therefore producing them gate and go races... When the track is slicker and riders have to search for the dirt , it makes for more exciting racing.. There are some riders who really relish these grippy tracks. they have the ability to hunt and pounce even in the most tightest of situations, but they are few and far between. The difference between a grippy and slick track can be as much as 3 seconds faster.2 points

It doesn't but I'm not sure that is the only issue. Wolves would need to be really slick to get the most of the bikes. Its always been well prepared Monmore, you can certainly vouch for that, and still is. However the bikes don't like it. Its got such tight entrances to the turns, to scrub off all that speed and then run into some dirt is what causes the problem. It kills the back wheel and then they react like a bucking bronco. These bikes need to be turning over all the time, taps always open. Even some smaller tracks have a more natural curvature, like Somerset and Scunny, where you can keep the bike winding and still have some room to correct a reaction or rider mistake. Rye. Arena. Training tracks. That's all they are good for. I hope wolves doesn't go the same way. Apologies for saying Monmore was irrelevant BTW, thats not what I meant.2 points

That’s a tough one, a professional sport, watched by millions, played on a bowling green of a pitch with a crackling atmosphere or amateur night, run by village idiots on a pot holed track in front of God’s waiting room. I’ll leave the forum to decide which is the best option...2 points

King's Lynn have the chance to finish top of the top division tonight. TOP. That would be an incredible achievement for a team predicted to finish near the bottom. Yet the first pages on this thread are people whinging about the fact we have a double header tonight. Cheer up you miserable sods and enjoy what has been an exciting and closely run finale to the regular season. And all the best to Scott Nicholls and Ty Proctor, who I see are both missing tonight through INJ sadly.2 points

Not really as surely Connor Mountain is a shoe-in reserve for the team whether they rider 'Premiership' or 'Championship' in either case ? Would have been surprised if we had announced Hans as the new asset given the uncertainty over the League formats for next year .... Connor would appear to be a good signing though for the Lions ! Cheers2 points

I’d say there is a difference between ‘doctoring’ a track and preparing it to the liking of home riders. The problem of course comes when a track like Somerset for example was one of the very best in the country and the prep is changed to leave one fast line round the inside.1 point
