WELL done Chris Morton ... credit where it is due. Never wavered from his determination to produce a great track worthy of the old Hyde Road.9 points

As many have said , probably the most entertaining 15 heats of speedway at Ashfield this season . Wasnt looking good from our perspective for much of the meeting , but we got our act together and also had a bit of a helping hand from the Witches too . Watching Craig Cook is a joy to behold , the speed he generates is breathtaking as he passes riders like they were stood still , you cant see him losing a race just at the moment . And what a prospect young Kemp looks . To ride like that having just turned 16 is quite something .7 points

Honestly Dave £16:50 for a concession at Edinburgh and I can think of a few different choice words other than Strewth! Took a half days holiday and headed off with anticipation on the 270 mile round trip from Cumbria to "The Dale" for this meeting, topped up the tank with £53:00 of fuel just in case and away we went. £18:50 to get in so times that by two (£37:00) and two programmes £6:00 then the parking £2:00 Very little change from £30:00 for grub and 4 pints of Tennent's. That adds up to around £128:00+ for one and a half hours of so called entertainment. That doesn't include the near two and a half hours to get up there and the same back and for what. To watch a Workington team who quite frankly came across as wanting to be anywhere else other than "The Dale". The meeting was torture. So approximately 8 to 10 hours out of my life that I will never get back let alone the cash wasted. To say we were disappointed is an understatement but the Edinburgh team can only race against whoever is out on track. So a very expensive night for not much entertainment that's for sure. But it does need both teams to play their part. However it gets better, the following night at Dewent Park an Edinburgh fan on paying his £13:00 concession to get into the ground stated "what an expensive spot this is" and when I pointed out a concession into "The Dale" was £3:50 more at £16:50 he said "no its not" I said "yes" he said "no" and it turned into a "Chuckle Brothers Sketch" honestly I PMSL, the old boy, I assume, was a season ticket holder at "The Dale" and either didn't realise what they pay up there for a concession or their season tickets are dam good value for money. Whatever, I would have been interested to hear if he thought he got value for money after watching the return meeting in Workington as I can confirm that this meeting at Dewent Park was one of the best meetings I have seen there in the last 10 years of attending and credit has to got to Steve Lawson for getting the track "right" and the Edinburgh team for coming with the right attitude, what an advertisement for Speedway and in total contrast to the previous night. Costs well £16:00 times by 2 and a dozen pints of Coors £36:00, programme £2.50, parking £2.00 and a burger at £3.00 and the worlds biggest Kebab Wrap at Maryport Pedro's on the way home for another £4:00 (you need something to soak up the drink) and of course the obligatory raffle tickets and other sundries at the track so around another £80+ spent, which I would happily double if the entertainment was to match meetings like this week in and week out... To you, to me, to you, to me, Regards THJ5 points

If someone sets up a funding page and others support it and contribute then that is down to them. If you choose not to contribute then that is down to you but banning them is OTT imho.5 points

Klindt scored 1,1,3,2,R,0 =7.. That's a 4.66 average !!! NKI's average is 7.20...How did we not miss him? How many points did Klindt score in HT's 13 and 15.... None Last time NKI was at Somerset he scored 3, 3, 3, 3, 3 So saying Lynn didn't miss NKI was a load of tosh.. I know we go stuffed, but why post crap?5 points

Fabulous meeting, just slightly ruined by the anti-climax ending to heat 15. Every meeting I've seen from that track has produced fantastic racing. Heat 13 was an absolute classic. Doyle, Holder and Cook going at it hammer and tongs with Fricke at the back and seemingly a spectator to it all. I'm still not sure how he managed to win that! Well done Belle Vue on reaching the play-offs. It would have been a travesty if thry'd missed out thtough Bewley's injury.4 points

The recent TV meetings I've watched in the polish league, were crap compared to the NSS.4 points

I am absolutely devastated about the close of Arena and the premature end of speedway there this season and I have only been going for 9 years. Absolutely love the place so I can only imagine how you who have been going for many more years than that are feeling. Should be a special and emotional night on the 14th and its an honor to be able to co-announce the final meeting ever, especially as I have only done it for this season and many a great voices of the raceway have come before me. Wonder how all of those on this forum that slag off the track week in and week out are feeling now? Hope you are all happy? Bet plenty of you will all show up next Friday calling yourself fans! Also, can I just say, I've seen a lot of discussion on a lot of different platforms about what the team should now be called... Simple fact of the matter is its the LAKESIDE HAMMERS and will stay that until we get a new venue and then beyond. As far as Rye House goes, I don't believe there is any intention of merging with Lakeside. Rye House will return next year, potentially in the same league (or a breakaway league as I have heard is being discussed) and race at home. Lakeside will continue to use Rye House short term (Just like Tottenham have used Wembley). Hopefully fans will engage with both teams equally and many will take the opportunity to enjoy potentially double the speedway on a weekly basis! As I keep saying on here Keep the faith in the management! after all they could have already bailed on the team long ago.4 points

Well done to Belle Vue and good luck for the playoffs a great meeting boy i could watch racing there everyweek.4 points

You will not get better Speedway than that Heat 13 anywhere! And still you get people saying the likes of the Wolves track is a good race track. No Comparison. You want to save the sport in this country then you need more tracks like Belle Vue!3 points

Just imagine being a Belle Vue fan and having a track like this to watch speedway every week.3 points

When you get racing like that, there's still hope for this sport. Cracking stuff.3 points

F me what a way to knock us out of the play offs. Best I've ever seen id say. Even the green eyed monster from Poole will have to admit that is class3 points

King's Lynn have the chance to finish top of the top division tonight. TOP. That would be an incredible achievement for a team predicted to finish near the bottom. Yet the first pages on this thread are people whinging about the fact we have a double header tonight. Cheer up you miserable sods and enjoy what has been an exciting and closely run finale to the regular season. And all the best to Scott Nicholls and Ty Proctor, who I see are both missing tonight through INJ sadly.3 points

that the best you could come up with !!!! Tell me again who have a chance of the Play-offs, KOC, Champion Shield...hey we not doing bad for a team with riders not getting paid, I really don;t think they are riding their hearts out just for the love of speedway3 points

Yes we don't offer bribes... Oh, you mean the riders, maybe we could afford to pay if Godfrey allowed us to run Home meetings3 points

I have just watched a video of this incident that Carl Johnson posted on Facebook, this shows BWD on the outside of the track between the start line and the first bend and Mark Riss on the inner edge, Riss then moves out from the inner edge to the outer straight into the side of BWD. i have absoloutly no idea why Vardy excluded BWD but the decision beggars belief, if you don’t believe me watch the video. with referees their are brave decisions, desperate decisions and just plain stupid decisions Vardy,s heat 14 decision was certainly a category 3.3 points

Somerset definitely threw the meeting tonight, not putting Doyle in heat 15!!! Shovlar style of thinking3 points

A few of my memories are, the awful fenceless track of the 1980's, the all conquering team of 1991, the year in the CL, after the promoters had cleared off to Hackney. The return to the top flight in 2003, and the massive crowd for Lee' Richardson's memorial meeting. This season started with such optimism, and will end with sadness and disappointment. RIP Arena Essex, you will be missed by those of us that really knew you, not by those that criticised you at every opportunity.3 points

What is the big rush !! Some teams season finished in August..I can remember going to meetings in October, play-offs always to be end of Sept cut-off...That wonderful board of people BSPA i think they call it pull the plug on 3 teams Friday's fixtures which were agreed so all had to be re-arranged. Have you ever thought Rider availability comes into it, doubling up ,polish commitments, total ball ache for some teams I know that3 points

That second paragraph is the wrongest thing I’ve ever read but then I know first hand what went on. This coupled with your opinion that we didn’t miss Dan shows a lack of understanding of our sport that is truly embarrassing. Voicing these idiotic ideas would be bad enough in a pub but to put them on a SPEEDWAY forum beggars belief.2 points

To echo other Aces fans, the fixed nights have hit us hard crowd wise. Not only overall numbers, but to me the number of kids seems lower than last year when we ran on Fridays. We have to go back to Friday nights, better for grown ups at the end of the working week, & kids too where the parents don't have to worry about them getting up for school the next morning. Back to tonight, an absolute privilege to watch that match in the flesh, full-on commitment from both sides, thrilling! Look forward to watching it back on TV tomorrow. Hope Doyle's OK too, looked an awkward off from where I was.2 points

IT'S not a secret but very few seem to make the track a priority. The NSS provides proof that given the right stage speedway can provide compulsive viewing.2 points

How in the name of...... can they average a team at 36? There are 90 points up for grabs in a match so common sense (something the ruling bodies obviously don't possess) say that should be 45 per team. Over the years one of the many things that has annoyed me is the constant change each year in team make ups. When I first started going (50 years ago this month) kids all had their favourite riders and bought badges, rosettes etc with their pictures. Now a rider can be dumped at anytime and kids, who have spent their pocket money on stuff are left disappointed and having to spend on more. I've also argued for years the season's average should be set at the winning's teams final average so the team can be kept together and other teams are encouraged to improve rather than diluting down. Yes I know that may incur more costs but some sort of wage limit has to be brought in. Let's face it Glasgow have obviously spent hard trying to win silverware but safe to say that has 'Bombed' so there are no guarantees lol2 points

What's wrong with it as it brings some comedy into the thread perhaps the Scotsman should apply for a BSPA job.2 points

Drew Kemp is a seriously impressive talent. His maturity and control on the bike is far beyond his years and he seems to have it all. Let's hope he can avoid injuries and gain opportunities abroad early and make a real go of it. His paid 21 max against Eastbourne for Mildenhall earlier in the year was exceptional and he is just getting better and better every week. I don't think it'll be long before we see him manage to beat a number one in this league.2 points

£1 cheaper as a reward for braving Springburn isn’t enough IMO.2 points

Yes I would agree jacks gating is a weakness.I watch him every meeting for the Colts and he is great to watch against riders of his own ability he passes riders from the back for fun if he misses the gate.Which in the higher leagues is a lot harder to do. I do feel he has stagnated a little this year he finished last year on a 8.20 average and this year he is at present on 8.30 but this year he is now riding at number 1. I don't know and only my own thoughts but getting dropped by Sheffield and struggling at Swindon might have affected his confidence. I hope that next year he can have a full season in the Championship league and leave the Premier league out for now he's not ready yet.He is a great little rider with bundles of talent He just needs a full season in the Champ league and time to develop and he will show what talent he really has.2 points

Judging by the score line, you made the Stars look worse than "average". Did they look like they were trying at all? And I bet it wont be 45-50.. Only 90 point up for grabs.2 points

I would say Fridays performance has alot to do with it,the lad was way off the pace and the crowd were getting on his back which is quite unpleasant to see and hear Scunny fans are normally quite a calm lot but what i heard on Friday was not good,im pleased hes out of the firing line to be honest2 points

Very enjoyable meeting Ipswich starting off very well with us coming back at them as the night progressed , Ipswich were good value for at least the point they got but were let down in the big heats with some strange manoeuvres especially from Riss which ultimately cost them. Young Kemp looks the real deal and a very confident young man also, came across very well on his pit interview . Ultimately I think Edinburgh will be favourites to join P'boro , Lakeside and Worky in the play offs they for me have a more balanced feel about them than either us or Ipswich.2 points

Sweden isn’t in a good place as most teams lose money and their rider base is reducing dramatically, much worse than the UK. It needs Poland to realise they are killing the sport for their own benefit. The GP’s are a great advert for the sport but create so many problems for domestic speedway in the UK.2 points
