The Championship should have NO SAY in Premiership matters going forward. In 2019, if Championship clubs wish to continue on a Thursday they have 2 options:- lose all priority to rider's in the Premiership or step up a division.6 points

Exactly what I was getting at a few posts back! It is supposedly the Top 8 who qualify, but then it's like we have automatic wild cards for those who finish 9th and 10th! I'm not saying I agree or disagree with with the actual numbers of qualifiers, but it defeats the concept if they simply pick 9th and 10th too... Steve3 points

VOR does not help his case when criticising JC for things over which he has no control (i.e. stadium seating) - his general bitterness, coupled with a total inability 'to let it go' tend only to make him a laughing stock amongst the more rational forum members.3 points

Oh your Gavan everyone was talking about you I din't have a clue who you were other than they were saying you were some pervo on twitter, nice to meet you at last3 points

No doubt they would. But that was as true 'then' as it is 'now'. If there was a guy outside the SGP who was good enough to mix it with the SGP top 8, had star quality, real pulling power and just happened to be the right nationality to add to the series .. Then considerations about whether or not be did the qualifiers would miraculously turn to dust and he would be offered a place. And rightly. Just like they did with Emil. But that is not Madsen ... Or any one else. At the moment.3 points

Mr Shovlar would make a wonderful politician, fantastic at ignoring and denying negative issues and peddling propaganda to deflect attention. Definitely a missed vocation3 points

lol comedy gold. Ask Jason Doyle where the hole was im sure he can point it straight out to you. All the Poole fans have spoke about the hole appearing and the remedial work carried out.............................everyone except you shock horror. Where is your detailed match report as well? We got a full blown rider by rider one when Poole beat a very weakened Somerset team.........................oh yes silly me you got beat so the report goes out the window.............3 points

No Sam didn't design it. Well, he did have input in the first place but then went back home for a wedding (I think) and while he was away David Hemsley went his own way and carried on with the track how he wanted it. Result ~ poor processional racing for years.3 points

yeh does show it clearly womble, myself and several other poole posters new there was a hole there, just a couple posting their usual nonsense2 points

Well what a season it has been, so unpredictable. At the beginning of the season there was so much negativity from some of the Kings Lynn fans about their team, while us Poole fans thought we'd got it right! Personally I think Somerset are the team to fear over 2 legs, having said that, all of the Poole team are capable of big scores, just so inconsistent, if they could all find form at the same time we would be unbeatable!2 points

Too right. It seems to have been forgotten just what a daft pick he was last year and just how many people here were arguing against it on good grounds. Only to hear of his 'surprise' pick by the totally independent FIM. No outside considerations were made, of course, it was done entirely on merit.2 points

Tell me about it ... I have experienced all of this helping a rider over the last few years. He has now given up for all of these reasons, plus others.2 points

When I go on google maps (doesn't have to be google maps) and look down on Leicester speedway track, and look down on Leicester Cycle Speedway at Slater Street, they look the same shape, although one is only 75 yards per lap. Many years ago (1965) I raced on the Slater Street cycle speedway track, and it was absolutely fine for that sport, but the speedway track truly is a poor race track. Going back to David Hemsley, if he has been 3 times World cycle speedway champion and 5 time British champion, then he must really have been a brilliant rider.2 points

Another example of reserves winning meetings is now at Workington, a former no1 is now a reserve & beating riders that he couldn't do before. It is also about team building & Newcastle & Berwick are proving that you don't need no1's but strength in depth to win meetings as their reserves, between them, often score 15+.2 points

Unlike some of the posters, I WAS at the meeting and it was one of the best meetings I have seen in many a day. As to the remarks about the track. I was talking after the meeting to a member of the track staff. He told me that the track was under water first thing in the morning with rain all day on Sunday. He had spent all day ( apart from during the Dog meeting) drying the track in time for racing. No riders got in any trouble with conditions, far from it, that is until the last part of the meeting when a soft patch seemed to appear on bend 3/4. It did not affect most riders, but one or two, including the unfortunate Danyon Hume, were caught out. My guess is that the previous day's rain had softened some parts of the track. To call it disgraceful is far from the truth. I have seen many tracks start their meetings in much worse conditions. The Kent track has been very good on every occasion I have visited this year ( about 6 times). I was a happy contributor to a very big Ben' Fund collection. A very worthy cause..2 points

The injury to Luke Bowen had nothing to do with the track conditions. It was simply a racing incident when James Shanes attempted to pass Luke on the outside. The track last night was in good condition and apart from the unfortunate injury to Danyon Hume it was a thoroughly enjoyable meeting. Best wishes to Danyon for a speedy recovery.2 points

Sure, meetings need to move on fairly quickly, but 60 minutes is far too short. I would say 90 minutes is a more reasonable time. You need some time between races. What you don't need is hanging around while a tractor chugs round for 5 minutes.2 points

No hole, you say. I have seen the video of heat 15 on the speedwaygb website. JD makes a reasonable gate from 2 hits something, straightens up and nearly collects Harris on his way towards the fence. Was it your wallet, Steve?2 points

With Newcastle still to visit in league and cup, might be a good idea to run that as a double header, should be an easy 3 points and next round of the cup. And only 1 travel.2 points

There definitely was a hole! Went to look at it after the meeting.2 points

How the hell did Wolves win that? Should have been a cake walk for Belle Vue. Whoever finishes top will be heading straight to Manchester in the semis first leg.2 points

It has taken a little while finding and translating the relevant rule- but an apology might be necessary for the Tarnow management as Henry is right and heat 15 has to be the 2 top scorers(or a choice of 2 if more than 2 are tied). Obviously it might have been tactically better for Tarnow to be 6 down after 13 rather than 4. I myself wasn`t sure and there are additional rules about reserves use in 14 and 15 etc. https://speedwayekstraliga.pl/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Regulamin-DMP-2018.pdf2 points

I agree re Morris, very lucky to get a second bite of the cherry. I note you are somewhat scathing of the Swindon track. Now I’m not going to defend the Swindon track, I can’t. There was minimal passing, it was decided by 1 & 3 and said as much, however, I have just read your report from this morning’s match v Somerset. It would appear, from your report, that the racing was top notch as I can find absolutely no mention of the track conditions at all within your missive. However, several attendees, Paddy The Rebel said it was ‘very poor’, Lisa Collette ‘dusty’ and poole keith talked about ‘the holes’ in the track. It would therefore seem there’s a hole in that particular report Steve. I have no argument with what you have said re Swindon but at least be equally scathing of your own track if that is the case.2 points

Clearly shows it. Strange that it only appeared in heat 15 and wasn’t noticeable earlier on. Certainly not where we sit in the grandstand. Luckily Doyle the only person affected. For the past two weeks Stuart Dickson has been on holiday so the track should get back to where it was on his return. Or a better idea. Put some more holes in strategic places around the track, cover with fine netting just strong enough to put a sprinkling of shale over the top, then get the trackman to show our boys exactly where they are to dodge them. Within a few heats the opposition will be all knackered out of the meeting and we win 65-25.1 point

That may be debatable about the longest running, is it not the scottish open? I could be wrong though. According to my reasearch the “scottish open” started in 1928 but at the time it was know as the “Scottish Championship”. I do look forward to the golde. Helent meetings as they normally produce great racing. Thanks for advising of the date slyox1 point

Of course, what the idiot doesn’t realise is that every track including Lakeside cannot race unless there is a valid track certificate. The track certificate can only be renewed after an inspection be an SCB inspector, and has to be renewed every three years. The inspection includes safety fences and airfences, and if it appears to ANY referee that the track has fallen below the required standard a further inspection may be ordered. Mick Bates did the last official track certificate in 2017, so it still has nearly 2 years to run. Voice of Reason is talking out of his rear end as usual . If he really was a clerk of the course as he falsely claims he would know all about track certificates.Instead he has just made a fool of himself yet again.1 point

After the awful night Saturday , hopefully Comets can re-group and carry on fighting for the playoffs..any news from promotion on how they going to get any more meetings in before the cut-off ? Be a crying shame after all the hard work so far the lads have put in all be for nothing. might be financial suicide for double headers, off night racing etc. but will even itself out as i can't see many folk coming to meaningless league meeting matches either when there's nothing to race for .time is running out !1 point

Sadly until clubs embrace the development leagues the sport will continue to slide. There are scores of riders who started out in these leagues and prosper but they are still shunned by many promotions & the governing bodies. The costs imposed upon the volunteers who decide to run them are huge, the mileage the riders put in is vast as so few teams compete. Referees refuse to officiate over any more than an additional 6 heats and there is at least one club i know where the track staff wanted extra to stay on for the second half (which now no longer happens at that track).1 point

Have to respectfully disagree. If there is someone better than Greenwood available, then by all means sign him. (Incidentally when is the cut off for making signings?) But Danyon is fourth in the averages which means only one of our top three (Leon Flint.) can take his ride with the rest being shared our between Walker and the reserves. I would suggest that Dan Greenwood would score higher than them. It would be unfair to expect him to score as high as Danyon. We're stuck between a rock and a hard place But, to be honest, none of this is important. Danyon is one of the nicest guys you could ever meet and I am devestated for him. Get well soon mate.1 point

Well done to the wolves with 2 riders missing and well done Ashley Morris you did step up tonight1 point

Having spent the day at the track Friday, spending half hour out there on track clearing the water from the first downfall and then sitting in the box as we waited for the riders to play ball. I can assure you that everyone at the club did everything we could to get the meeting on. Despite the forecast we had to try and get a result due to the limited availability of the raceway for speedway... which has caused the issues we are experiencing with lack of fixtures not helped with BSPA not approving Fridays. I as a club ‘official’ I will not talk about fixture plans for the remainder of the season. However all avenues are being looked at and discussed to get as much in before the 16th cutoff. However, as I am also a member of Rye House track staff I can confirm that I was asked over the weekend to be available for Saturday the 15th as lakeside are hoping to race that night against an unconfirmed team. This is likely to be subject to BSPA approval which may be difficult. Either way the club are doing everything they can to get fixtures in. And the management remain firmly committed to the future of speedway at lakeside. I’ve seen the passion from Jon Cook first hand. (Bear in mind a call off means the club still has to pay for the venue at the cost of ££££) That is all... apart from suggesting that most of you on here don’t comment about which you don’t know nothing about. If you have issues why not talk to Jon or anyone else involved with the club directly rather than getting all brave on an anonymous forum. Thanks1 point

...yes it always makes me smile when people condemn second halves in whatever shape or form but there was no denying that it did help to bring on British talent together with the advent of the old Second Division.1 point

I Must say last night turned into a good meeting after all the doom and gloom of cancellation at the last meeting, the track staff did well and Graham is the best man in the business at track preparation allowing for his limited time now on thursday due to the running the dogs until 6 o'clock, i thought the track was very good. Also the promotion over the last 5 years have worked at length to improve the speedway, may i add we have won silverware again this year so onwards and upwards for next season, the team will be back on track next year we have just had a blip the last few weeks All the moaners and negative people need to look what Sheffield has done the last five years after barron years and second rate riders since 2002, Well done the promotion for keeping Sheffield going, we all know if not for them there would be no speedway in Sheffield. I will be supporting the Tigers in 20191 point
