  1. As much as I love a dig at the Poole track, the adver speedway reporter has tweeted that it was the best meeting he had been to in years. Poole too strong for us and the consistent inconsistency of the top 5 continues. Not good enough for the play offs so we will finish where we deserve to be and that's 6th. There will be no choking in the play offs this year. 4 evenly matched teams for once and it's anyone's. Will be great for a neutral to watch!

  2. Strange night, but still enjoyed it. Some things you wouldn't believe and others was truly amazing. A big well done to Buster and his team for the track he prepared, and for the staff and Ref for the way the races flowed. What a pity Wolves turned up late, and then with only half a team. The first meeting was an embarrassment, a rout, only kept from the record books by a couple late wins by Sam Masters added to those EF the Stars suffered. if it wasn't for them the score would have been nearer 70 than 60... Although the Stars were on fire, it would have been more enjoyable had Wolves put up more of a fight. It would be wrong to single out Lambert for his majestic display, as all the team to a man contributed to the cause. The only last places the Stars recorded were those wretched EF''s. The absence and subsequent R/R for Niels wasn't a factor for Lynn, but for Wolves Rory was sorely missed... It was amazing how the first meeting flowed. Parade started at 10-2-7. First race dead on the dot at 7pm. Last race finished 8-23pm. that included 3 tape reruns, and 2 EF, I don't believe there were any falls, ( why cant they do this every week???) . Then we had a 40min interval, the second meeting started 9-05pm The first race finished in another 5-1 to the Stars but the time was significantly slower. This was to be a different match, a track much more to Wolves liking. A lot slicker that produced some excellent and close racing. The result was never in doubt but Wolves were now making a fist of it . Thorsell and Masters were consistent heat winners and along with Howarth showed much more appetite to race. Thorsell had the glory of the only man to lower Lamberts colours in a tremendous scrap. Sometimes only inches apart he resisted all Roberts efforts to win a memorable race. Race win of the night has to go to Jorgensen in heat 6 when he races from last to first with his exciting round the board style. Master and Howarth were on a 5-1 before TJ split them . Masters then took to the boards as well, but Jorgensen found the speed when it mattered going to the line. Fantastic race. After a jittery start of the first 4 races, the second meeting flowed like the first. The last race finished at 10-28pm. All 30 races had been run and 6 pts safely in the bank. I felt sorry for Wolves and their fans, In truth they never stood a chance against the rampant Stars. To come here with such a weak team they were like lambs to the slaughter. They will have a hard task to pick themselves up from this mauling. Their chances of making the PO having taken a real jolt. Looking at the league this morning, it appears Somerset, Poole and KL have distance themselves now and that BV , Swindon and Wolves will al be fighting for that last spot. I was more than happy with the nights entertainment and felt it was well worth the extra cost. So A big well done to all concerned...…..

  4. I know there performances over the last 3 meetings is not good enough but now is not the time to rock the boat we have them both until the end of the season, so rather than knock them we should all be encouraging them and get behind all the riders . Next year is a fresh start .

  5. But, you're not RR and don't know who he is! Jack Smith hasn't been the problem. The way the side was put together, there was no choice but t have the lowest average rider in the league at number 7, and whoever was there was never going to score. The problem was more inconsistencies in the top 5. If everyone had scored consistently at what they could, the lack of a number 7 would have been covered. There were no obvious replacements out there either - the posts of a poster who writes in a similar style to yourself but, quite obviously isn't you because you said so, prove it. Whatever options came up for possible changes, none were any better than what we had. And that includes at number 7.

  6. Im not sure anybody has stopped anyone riding who has a "legitimate Bristish passport" and once it has been provided to the governing bodies im sure a licence will be granted.....the issue at the start of the season (and in seasons past) is that the passport resides in Laurence Rogers mythical glove box along with Flint Snr's approval to ride and a collection of hens teeth.

  10. Brilliant multi-page tribute to Ronnie Moore in today's Speedway Star. The (older) writers have really come in to their own in the last few weeks and months when they have had to cover the deaths of such big names in the Sport. They clearly write from great knowledge and personal experience that hasbeen wonderful to read; despite the tragic circumstances. Puts some of the modern articles on up to date issues that, all too often, do little more than regurgitate press releases into the shade. And the brilliant cover photo of Ronnie is just as stunning as the earlier one of Ivan ... Just great.

  11. A huge well done to the management and staff in running both meetings smoothly. Perfect results for the Stars. Are we seeing a side finally clicking all together at the right time?!?

  12. I did, the meeting ending in a draw like that, fantastic, am booking next year just as soon as the fixtures come out for next season, planning to go to Poland five-six times next year the whole experience of Wroclaw was just top draw, no problems getting a ticket, just 40 Polish Zloty's admission, about £11, 8plz for a programme (£2), even bought a day ticket for the tram network in Wroclaw for 11 polish zloty's (2. 75p), it really was that cheap. Fifteen quid for the speedway meeting all in, won't mention the beer prices, go on then I will, 10 zloty's a pint (£2-50p), weather just brilliant, the Polish people themselves go out of their way to help, again brilliant weekend.

  14. In an effort to attract the 96 year old speedway fans back to the sport, it might be better to go pre-decimal. If that is the case, Rob Godfrey and Buster Chapman would be replaced by Ivor Shilling and Arfur Crown. The BSPA would adopt the new war cry of: "Go on luv, show us your thrupennies!!!!!" Steve

  15. Well done panthers....don't think the witches like a slick track. Is Bacon the most improved rider in the league? Very impressive. Well done coty, shame the manager didn't see fit for you to have 7 rides....totally baffling.

  16. I think the third meeting should be at a neutral track, perhaps in Poland to keep them happy? I think it would also help to use a three-team format for this meeting, so you could introduce a wild-card team of riders from 1975 to keep us old'uns interested... Steve

  17. Have to agree as Lambert and Grondal are not best suited to foxhole and there away form leaves a lot to be desired , we will need BWD and Starke with some lean back up from Bacon to get anything out of this meeting I can't see us even picking up a bonus point unless Scotty can bang in a 7 ride max.

  22. Since there is a chronic shortage of capable riders in UK ( and in fact World-wide), we should not try to stop ANY rider who has a legitimate British Passport from riding in the "Training area" of the National League. If he has lived in this country for many years, and has no intention of returning to Poland, we should regard him as British. That is the law of the land. I do not see a problem. Good Luck to Birmingham if they sign him.

  23. So, we have two guests booked for tomorrow night at Scunthorpe with the same amount of fixtures on both nights. Why don't we have two tonight or do they think as we are at home we should be able to cover easier. Hope nobody gets injured tonight as we will struggle again. You would think with all the injuries we have had when using RR that we would go into every meeting with a full quota of riders, as we never seem to name a number 8.

  24. Both of these meetings were always going to be a trouncing. Unfortunately the Wolves just haven't lived up to the hype this year.

  27. R.I.P. and in a sad coincidence he and fellow team mate, Bob Dugard with whom he rode in 1969 and 1970 both died within a week of each other. Other Dons of the same era but since passed away include Cyril Maidment, (Slim) Jim Tebby, and Garry Middleton.

  31. Well really enjoyed, although i only got to see the 2nd meeting having been stuck in hospital for 5hrs.Had good intentions to see both done a swap of shifts with someone and it then went pear shaped. But having managed to get to the 2nd meeting i was happy to see a slick meeting even when using R/R and a few falls it was done by just gone 22:30. Ht 5 what a race, that was just awesome. There were some good races in that 2nd meeting so i went home happy in the end. Buster must have been very happy with the crowd, excellent for a double header against the same opponents. We will await the apologies from those who said the 2nd meeting wouldn't go to it's conclusion and it will end up being a bit of a farce. Well done to Buster and those involved who put on a slick show tonight for the fans. And thanks for S.Nielsen for being on standby just in case.

  32. And in all likeliness probable. Well a huge crowd turned up tonight for this local derby. The carpark was full an hour before the start and grandstand full at 7pm. Any latecomers had to go to the overflow carparks and stand along the home straight or bends. The track seemed well prepared but on the slick side. More of that shortly. Hyabb from Swindon posted on here that more trackwork was needed and the Poole riders were unhappy. Funny that Brady said after the meeting that the track was perfect and just how they wanted it. Tracy Bird posted it was a dust bowl. If you are going to lie Tracy Bird, make sure the people you are lying to didn’t attend. There was no dust. Track had been well watered before the meeting and there was no need for any further watering during the meeting. The track imo was slicker than normal. Harris in particular struggled to find speed to pass early in the meeting. Swindon do have a team of 5 Wimborne Road specialists and it was a tough battle all the way, the scoreline keeping the tension going. But what a spectacular finish. Heats 13,14 and 15 all worth the admission money on their own. Sure, it was 3 5-1’s to Poole but both teams made the race and the roar of the crowd was almost deafening. In heat 11 Kacsper Woryna ran a last, but imo he should have been out in heat 12. However Middlo stuck with Riss as he had done a very decent job. But he ran a last when Kacsper would have seen off Zach W. In heat 13 we had Batchelor and Morris v Brady and Bomber. Robins on 1 and 3. Tapes up and Brady got away but Bomber at the back. He got past Morris and set off after Batchelor, only to go to the back again off bend 2 lap 2. Then cut under Morris and again gave chase. A final bend blast around theoutside of Batchelor took the roof off. Heat 14 was just as good. Kacsper gated but Worrall was last, again. But he must have been watching Bomber the race before. He squared off some corners and down the back straight of lap 3 went between the Swindon pair into bend 3. Zach W tried to maintain 2nd but Worrall was through and the roof, which had just fallen vack into place from the previous heat, was blown clean off again. In heat 15, Brady gated, Harris dropped into second and that looked like that. Except they got in each others way entering lap two and Harris had to bail towards the fence allowing both Swindon riders through. Again he gave chase, and again after getting past Bellego he went after Batchelor and got him in the run in to the line. The roof was last seen floating past the chain ferry at the entrance to Poole harbour. A fantastic finale and everyone bar the Robins fans will go home buzzing after that. By the way we sat by a group who had come down from Swindon and they were the most charming of fans. They cheered and clapped their team and even applauded the final 3 heats when the meeting went away from them. They said they just don’t get that type of racing at Blunsdon and said the crowd was huge and noisy. Really nice proper speedway fans. There was clearly more to the meeting than the final three heats but just highlighting the ending. For Poole. Brady back to his best after he completely missed the gate in heat one. Josh was very solid. Finally showing consistency after a poor first half of the season. Richie Worrall was slow and extremely poor in his first three rides. If Poole had been at full strength he would never have had his ladt two rides. Lucky he redeemed himself, especially in heat 14. Harris couldn’t get close to Ellis early in the meeting but got better and better. Motm imo, though Skidder who was meeting sponsor, gave it to Brady. Kacsper was excellent value. So fast at times. Mark Riss did a very good job guesting at reserve. For Swindon. Batchelor tried all night. Found it too hit in heats 13 and 15. Bellego is so quick out of the starts. Made a pass on Riss in heat 8. Adam Ellis was excellent. Swindon’s best rider. Poole should never have let him go. Musielak was awful. Twice excluded for going though the tapes. Lessons from Brady? Then when in 3rd team riding he over cooked it on bend three, knocking off Ellis in the process. Came out again in his next and went through the tapes. Then ran a last. Morris got the full set. 3,2,1,0. Not the rider he was l season. Zach W found it very tough going. Smith was 100 metres behind. Not sure why he hasn’t fallen on his sword tbh. So a very tough first half of the meeting where Swindon kept in relately close, before Pirates stretched their legs and blew them away in the second. Swindon will be all out to win on Monday night at Blunsdon and will probably get revenge. But nice to get revenge after Swindon won here in the A fixture. Looking forward to hearing what DC2 has to say about tonight.

  33. We was robbed ht 8 was a joke gated twice on a 5-1 only for rene whose head was allready down after 2 pointless rides made a mess of turn 1 to get excluded but worse was the 3rd rerun razza was clearly taking out on turn 1 and left in the fence to be excluded even redcar fans near me said wrong decision, still a good fightback rene was.poor mason not a lot better but a special word for kyle 2 last good races and points which nearly won us the match.

  38. THANKS for the comment although, naturally, would prefer not to have to go down that road. Always struck in old photos, like the one of Ronnie above, how the handlebars of their day differ from the modern bike. In years gone by riders travelling by air to meetings across Europe would often take their handlebars with them as hand luggage. Wouldn't get away with that now!

  39. True. All we have to go on is what has been posted on here - namely that King's Lynn have refused every available date. But you're right, it's always risky going solely on what is posted on the forum alone.

  41. Ooh dear an up themselves Belle Vue fan can’t bear the fact that Wimborne Road showed just how good it can be with some stonking racing. We all know that Belle Vue has an excellent racetrack but that doesn’t mean other tracks won’t produce some thrilling racing as well. Those three races at the end of tonights meeting were sensational.

  43. Dont ask me to predict the lottery numbers, christ what a rout! What has happened to Max Clegg, not long ago he was an out and out top rider at this level but seems to have fallen away. Stoke apart from Connor Coles were awful, he put a great showing in Heat 13 to beat Shanes and Bacon. Brummies were fantastic, credit to all of them but especially Callum Walker. Ive been critical at times but tonight he was immense, seems that break has done him the world of good. Danyon and Leon were faultless. Team is looking good now, top 4 is very strong and if Walker and the reserves can peform like that tonight then anything is possible for the playoffs

  44. This may be a bit off field but a lot of people who attend don’t buy programmes. How do you keep and remember the score as the meeting progresses (especially at Kent where the announcer ‘whispers’ into the mic)! The sport is poorer for this and part and parcel of its fabric.
