Very, very True... I have been involved in running and marketing businesses for over 30 years and in all that time (in fact ad infintum since commerce began), pretty much nothing has changed in how you make a success of what you do.. Listen to your customer's feedback.. Give them what they want, (or be honest and explain to them why you cannot meet these expectations).. And control your costs to ensure what your customers want is both value for money for them, but delivers profits to you.. Utopia is to earn the "lifetime loyalty" of your customer, and given Speedway is a Team Sport, that 'emotional loyalty' should be easy to engender and taken as a 'given'... My 'loyals' as they are referred to, are absolutely key to my success, as if I lose ONE of them, such is the frequency of their visits per week, I need TWELVE other 'non loyals' (customers who shop at various locations), to visit me once a week to replace them.. Instead of wondering why they are not getting any new customers in, maybe Speedway should try and attract back those 'loyals' who used to attend, whilst at the same time listening to the 'loyals' who still do attend, but are gradually losing their emotional attachment to keep themselves attending..5 points

Heat 2 troubles. Lewis looked to have a bike issue on bend one/two lap one that forced Alex into the fence. Lewis’ machinery problems were terminal and he withdrew immediately. Alex walked back to the pits but needed medical attention with the County Ambulance called to take him to hospital for a check up. Meeting delayed by about an hour unfortunately but in Warrior fashion we managed to create some activities to keep a good sized crowd engaged. Both sets of riders were generous with their time interacting with the supporters and helping to bridge the gap and John Carpenter & Barry Bishop were brilliant giving a public lesson on the mechanics of a speedway bike that was really well received.4 points

"Belle Vue have made hardly any changes this year"...... They have had around 20 Guests..!! I take it you must be using the same 'logic'' that Trigger used in Only Fools and Horses, when he proudly told everyone that in his job he had used exactly the same road sweeping broom for the past 20 years.... And then told all present that in that time it had had just 17 new heads and 14 new handles... "Awright Dave?"....4 points

The star of the show was Kacper Woryna. He just just loves riding for Poole and his enthusiasm is a joy to watch.3 points

And in all likeliness probable. Well a huge crowd turned up tonight for this local derby. The carpark was full an hour before the start and grandstand full at 7pm. Any latecomers had to go to the overflow carparks and stand along the home straight or bends. The track seemed well prepared but on the slick side. More of that shortly. Hyabb from Swindon posted on here that more trackwork was needed and the Poole riders were unhappy. Funny that Brady said after the meeting that the track was perfect and just how they wanted it. Tracy Bird posted it was a dust bowl. If you are going to lie Tracy Bird, make sure the people you are lying to didn’t attend. There was no dust. Track had been well watered before the meeting and there was no need for any further watering during the meeting. The track imo was slicker than normal. Harris in particular struggled to find speed to pass early in the meeting. Swindon do have a team of 5 Wimborne Road specialists and it was a tough battle all the way, the scoreline keeping the tension going. But what a spectacular finish. Heats 13,14 and 15 all worth the admission money on their own. Sure, it was 3 5-1’s to Poole but both teams made the race and the roar of the crowd was almost deafening. In heat 11 Kacsper Woryna ran a last, but imo he should have been out in heat 12. However Middlo stuck with Riss as he had done a very decent job. But he ran a last when Kacsper would have seen off Zach W. In heat 13 we had Batchelor and Morris v Brady and Bomber. Robins on 1 and 3. Tapes up and Brady got away but Bomber at the back. He got past Morris and set off after Batchelor, only to go to the back again off bend 2 lap 2. Then cut under Morris and again gave chase. A final bend blast around theoutside of Batchelor took the roof off. Heat 14 was just as good. Kacsper gated but Worrall was last, again. But he must have been watching Bomber the race before. He squared off some corners and down the back straight of lap 3 went between the Swindon pair into bend 3. Zach W tried to maintain 2nd but Worrall was through and the roof, which had just fallen vack into place from the previous heat, was blown clean off again. In heat 15, Brady gated, Harris dropped into second and that looked like that. Except they got in each others way entering lap two and Harris had to bail towards the fence allowing both Swindon riders through. Again he gave chase, and again after getting past Bellego he went after Batchelor and got him in the run in to the line. The roof was last seen floating past the chain ferry at the entrance to Poole harbour. A fantastic finale and everyone bar the Robins fans will go home buzzing after that. By the way we sat by a group who had come down from Swindon and they were the most charming of fans. They cheered and clapped their team and even applauded the final 3 heats when the meeting went away from them. They said they just don’t get that type of racing at Blunsdon and said the crowd was huge and noisy. Really nice proper speedway fans. There was clearly more to the meeting than the final three heats but just highlighting the ending. For Poole. Brady back to his best after he completely missed the gate in heat one. Josh was very solid. Finally showing consistency after a poor first half of the season. Richie Worrall was slow and extremely poor in his first three rides. If Poole had been at full strength he would never have had his ladt two rides. Lucky he redeemed himself, especially in heat 14. Harris couldn’t get close to Ellis early in the meeting but got better and better. Motm imo, though Skidder who was meeting sponsor, gave it to Brady. Kacsper was excellent value. So fast at times. Mark Riss did a very good job guesting at reserve. For Swindon. Batchelor tried all night. Found it too hit in heats 13 and 15. Bellego is so quick out of the starts. Made a pass on Riss in heat 8. Adam Ellis was excellent. Swindon’s best rider. Poole should never have let him go. Musielak was awful. Twice excluded for going though the tapes. Lessons from Brady? Then when in 3rd team riding he over cooked it on bend three, knocking off Ellis in the process. Came out again in his next and went through the tapes. Then ran a last. Morris got the full set. 3,2,1,0. Not the rider he was l season. Zach W found it very tough going. Smith was 100 metres behind. Not sure why he hasn’t fallen on his sword tbh. So a very tough first half of the meeting where Swindon kept in relately close, before Pirates stretched their legs and blew them away in the second. Swindon will be all out to win on Monday night at Blunsdon and will probably get revenge. But nice to get revenge after Swindon won here in the A fixture. Looking forward to hearing what DC2 has to say about tonight.3 points

Doubling up was only on a small scale, and usually the riders concerned, belonged to the top division club, and were loaned out to the second division team. Nowadays the Premier League teams are more or less a "Championship Select" team, plus 1 or 2 full time Premier riders.3 points

Come on, SS never lets the truth get in the way of a good argument," if Poole win it's good racing", if Poole lose, "it's from the gate rubbish.3 points

I’m getting a bit worried now........Where is dear old DC2?? Heard a man wearing a Swindon Robins shirt was seen walking into the woods with a length of rope in his hand!!........ Still.......glug glug glug.....2 points

This may be a bit off field but a lot of people who attend don’t buy programmes. How do you keep and remember the score as the meeting progresses (especially at Kent where the announcer ‘whispers’ into the mic)! The sport is poorer for this and part and parcel of its fabric.2 points

No they wouldn't. But that's the starting point of making the sport a credible team sport. You then have to get the message out that the sport is changing. After which you have got to undo 25 to 30 years of appalling mismanagement and build from the ground up.2 points
-
Guests are a problem. Doubling up is a problem. But if both those rules were wiped out overnight, does anyone honestly think the crowds would flood to speedway? The sport needs fundamental change, not fiddling around at the edges.2 points

Both teams operating R/R for their No.1's on a Double Header... where can I sign up!?! I very much doubt they will run all 30 heats. Despite all the advertising saying '30 heats of action' etc. Maybe they should offer a £1 rebate for every heat under 30 they don't complete which can be used off the next meeting? This should be the exciting end of the season, the push for the playoffs etc, but the circumstances make it impossible not to feel 'meh'. Had we have had a full team out it would be different I guess. Hope it's a good meeting for those of you who are going, and all the riders perform well.2 points

They are all there to be raced but take different skills from the rider to do so. Take the BV vs Leicester matches for example - Nicholls had no bother passing BV riders at Leicester but at BV only scored a point. Tracks are all there to be raced and I like the variety - if they were all the same it would bore me to death.2 points

Surely if it’s anything other than Lawrence Rogers being replaced you’ll be mightily disappointed!2 points

They can always book themselves into Scunthorpe and test their bikes there pre-season.2 points

These are professional riders so if they can’t work out the racing lines after a couple of rides then clearly they should not be putting their leg over a speedway bike. I don’t recall the riders of the seventies moaning about tracks, they got stuck in and rode it. We seem to be making so many excuses for our riders these days but its still a motorbike with no brakes on a dirt track. We lost plain and simple and the riders have to up their game for us to be in a shout of the playoffs.2 points

Do people seriously believe Woofy, going for the world title, was ever going to line up for Sheffield in the second tier of British speedway? If the rules allowed it, fixtures didnt clash and Sheffield wanted him, he still wouldnt of.2 points

I could live with that - usually (as in not the last 4 Thursdays!) we would have enough firepower with the rest to get away with it. Mind you, the last rider we had like that (Ricky Wells) wasn't hugely popular with Tigers fans. As I said on Facebook, the signing may or may not be someone that makes us go "ooh", but the good thing is that there is going to be a 2019. I don't know if it's because it's coming up to 30 years since 1989, and it's been a terrible end to the season, I was beginning to get a bit nervous.1 point

Sadly that remains the case for this century at least. It must be the only sport where the concerns of the paying customer are so disregarded and whose feedback is of no interest.1 point

My first memory was when my dad took me to see Czechs ride at Romford in 1970. It was scary stuff watching the likes of Vaclav Verner ride inches away from the concrete safety wall at brooklands!1 point

The feel bad factor at stoke, good grief, every rider that goes there regresses so fast, getting walloped by a side with top 2 missing and no reps. Great stuff from kent btw , stoke are rank1 point
