  1. From the sounds of things Heeps wipes out Mcdonalds most weeks

  2. Yes, KL promoter Buster Chapman told BSPA chairman Buster Chapman about it last week and Buster Chapman agreed. Everyone else found out last night.

  3. Unfortunately accidents happen in speedway, and its a shame Scunny have had more than their fair share this season. Hopefully the injuries are not too bad and everyone is fit and riding again very soon. This applies to all those who are presently riding through the pain barrier such as Steve Worrall and our own Rene Bach and Ty Proctor. They certainly put the likes of premier league footballers to shame. As Scaramanga has already said, nobody was knocked off, apart from young Kyle you could say. The crashes tonight were what I would call racing incidents where the riders were totally committed, which is what supporters want to see, rather than people tootling around at the back for a couple of laps before pretending they have a mechanical issue when they miss the gate (mentioning no names here, but we all know one or two). There was some great speedway tonight from 2 very committed teams and Scunny deserve a lot of credit and probably a point. I certainly wouldn't have begrudged them one. Jake Allen in particular was superb, ably backed up by Steve Worrall and Jason Garrity. For the Comets everyone chipped in, with a half fit Rene Bach being a trump card at reserve. Typical that young Kyle appeared to be on for 2 points (I know he got the points as the race was awarded) when he was clipped in the reserves race as it would have been great to cheer him over the line. It would have been interesting to see how he got on against Danny Phillips and Gino Manzares for the rest of the meeting as it could have been a turning point for him. Once again, shame on those who left before the lap of honour. Do they not appreciate what these guys go through to provide us with the entertainment and the points? Sorry, edited to point out how lucky we are to have Dan Bewley in our team. Absolute class.

  4. He didn’t call in with as many “sickies” as Holder did in his last year with us either. “I feel sick, I’ve got a headache, I’ve got toothache” to name just a few. Don’t recall him playing the same tricks with Torun or on GP weekends!!! Just an observation.

  5. 100 million percent fricke and bewley should have been heat 15. Drozdz should have been in heat 14 Great meeting but horrific result for us

  6. Terrible result , top 4 gone now IMO Cook Worrall not good enough , if Stevie isnt fit he shouldn't be riding , dumping Etheridge made / makes no sense at all, Then doesn't seclect Max in the last heat !! Not Lemons greatest week as a manager

  7. Sounding like they have might have cocked the track up. Loads of grading going on. When there’s a delayed start due to latecomers, I believe the meeting should still start on time. Very unfair on those that made it into the stadium before the allocated start time of 7.30. If a fan turns up at 7.30 it’s their fault they will miss some heats.

  8. With regards to the play offs you cannot compare speedway to any other team sport. Common practise now is for teams to (purposely?) start slow, thus reducing their team average which then offers them the opportunity to build back up. In other sports this wouldn’t happen as they aren’t ruled by points and anyway if say Stockport County signed Ronaldo then they wouldn’t suddenly become favourites as in that sport it’s very much a collective effort - simultaneously. In speedway you can replace a low scorer with a high scorer and the difference is instant with a massive impact. Speedway is a different beast and this is unfortunately lost on those who wield the power who come up with ideas without fully investigating there impact.

  9. Season over for us, Worrall should have been replaced as he was never going to come back after 3 months with such a bad injury and hit the ground running, throw in the decision to release Etheridge who would definitely have scored more tonight than Riss and Cook not really hitting the heights and a play off place always looked iffy when you consider our away form. Fricke, Bewley, and Tungate are the 3 I would be looking to keep out of this side.

  10. Easier than expected victory. Good debut from Jonas. Leicester look dreadful so will reserve judgement until we face a stronger team. This new Leicester reserve looks good, potential champion I reckon.

  11. I think you’ve completely missed the subtlety of the discussion which for clarity goes like this: 1/Noddy fails to rock up possibly because he got his visa application wrong and picked up a big black mark with the BA. 2/The promoter failed to grasp the situation and allowed the debacle to run for the first 3 months of the season. 3/ Eventually Noddy comes clean. 4/ Promoter thinks “oh sh..e I should have done something about this back in March and instead of falling in love with Noddy, I should have been courting Hansi. 5/Promoter panics and releases a press statement that says “nobody loves me anymore so I’m thinking of jumping the pirate ship”. 6/Rye House goes bust and “floods the market” with a couple of useful riders. 7/Promoter thinks thank god for that, all those nasty poles who I thought loved me so much have let me down and now, I’m my hour of need, 2 Englishmen (who previously I wouldn’t have given the time of day for), have thrown themselves at my feet. 8/Superstar Bomber arrives, crashes his bike and there is much wailing and bucket jangling to fix his bike. But, tough luck to the less fortunate rider who crashed earlier in the season broke his bones. 9/ Discussion on forum about the fairness of how the club supports all riders (or not). 10/Comparison between 2017 and 2018 riders crash costs and why one rider gets money and other doesn’t. 11/And then to the crux, if Noddy had played with a straight bat, Hans would have been in the team and Bomber wouldn’t have crashed because there wouldn’t have been a slot available. The essence of my posts on this subject is, we should be a club that looks after all riders signed up for a campaign. We should be a fair club and at the present it appears we only look after those whose faces fit....

  13. It’s now David Howe instead of Starke who was instead of Auty. Not only do we change our 1-7 with amazing regularity, we now change our guests within hours too. Oh well.

  14. Wow ! What a fantastic night of racing last night ! It is a LONG time since I saw two absolutely committed teams compete like they did. It is incredulous to see such a low attendance though. Those that chose not to attend, have missed one of the most exciting meetings for a long time. This was one meeting that contained the sort of racing that the "Premiership" would LOVE to see each week I am sure. Not to mention our league ! Dan Bewley was HEART STOPPING in some of his moves..not to mention Ty. Thanks lads, for putting on such a fantastic heart pumping meeting. Here's to a few more !

  16. I made no secret of my feelings of Garrity and see the acquisition of Erik Riss a big scoop. He is someone who can be relied upon to help the Star's cause. A big well done to Dale Buster and the promotion for making it happen...

  17. Love him or loathe him, Bob Dugard was Mr Eastbourne and will be sorely missed. Always made me chuckle when he was more concerned with his beloved air fence than the rider who'd just destroyed it. He was also faster in that tractor of his than some of the dodgy reserves we had over the years. RIP Bob.

  18. Is a question just an opinion?? are you suggesting that due the above mentioned, teams are knocking Scunthopre riders off? if you are that i think is one of the most stupid posts ive ever read i dont for a minute believe any rider in either league would be ``forcefull`` just because of Scunthorpe riders earn money by scoring points and race hard, accidents happen

  19. Its a sad day when the truth is an incovenience Also rather crass to blame those fans - any problems were self inflicted by the club. Any responsibility lays solely with the club

  21. Great result for Lynn, who up to now have the best away record in the league. Big ht's 13 and 15 for Lynn which were very much needed.Well done NKI and R.Lambert. Good debut for E.Riss, paid 8 from the number 2 position not bad. Looking better and better each week now getting closer to the play-offs.

  22. It should have been. Kings Lynn, though stronger now with the change, were dire at Poole, and only just beat us at home. Belle Vue blew this big time with a change of track from the norm and what looks like a manager cock up in heat 15. Rather have Lynn in the playoffs than Belle Vue so pleased tonight with that result.

  28. I too was very disappointed with the crowd last night, though I realise that it is holiday season. Last night was almost like our season starting over after yet another break in our fixtures, we were up against very good well matched opposition, we were at full strength (though some were struggling with knocks), we have our best 'team' for ages, we are watching a young local star in the making and even the weather was good. What more do the people of West Cumbria want, and what is going to get them back to DP ? Laura and Co. must be wondering the same and be seriously thinking about why they bother. For the loyal few, I feel we are going to have to make the most of the next few hectic weeks.

  31. I have always disliked the Play-Offs. For starters, they bullied the once prestigious Knock-Out Cup from its slot as speedway's showpiece aggregate competition. As the KOC Final always had October billing, another aggregate competition (the POs) carrying more clout and at the same time of the season, naturally dwarfed it. The POs all but killed the KOC. Secondly, and it's only a personal slant, they sort of made most of the league fixtures for the first two to three months sort of practice sessions, as Poole have proved this season, to fine-tune your side with the sole aim of making the top four, and then being as strong as possible once there. It is all about timing. A third thing I think Play-offs have taken away is the surety that all clubs actually have meaningful fixture plans in the last month of the season. As I see it, since the POs were introduced, the season is like a cinema after the main show has ended and all the pieces of popcorn and candy wrappers lie on the floor. They are the speedway fixtures of October. That is what the final month of the season seems like to me. Just seems a bit unbalanced to have Play-Offs and then a whole month of unimportant fixtures to try to temp fans from their warm homes on the chilly nights. I always forget other fixtures are taking place in October. And, as has been mentioned on here, speedway must be one of the only sports where the league title is decided by Play-Offs, even possibly by sides who didn't even finish first or second.

  33. The addition of Erik Riss, who scored 13 from 5 rides when guesting for us earlier this year and MPT at reserve, who gets good scores at the the NSS, and who will be able to replace any weak links is going to make this a close meeting. Worrall and Cook will need to be back to their best, Bewley and Tungate in the engine room need to easily outscore Jorgensen and Proctor and our reserves need to ensure that they don't drop any points to S Lambert. I'm looking forward to an exciting meeting and some brilliant racing.

  34. From the OS's preview of tonight's match. Who writes this guff, it's one of the many reasons speedway is going down the gurgler. The first sentence is fine, the 2nd insults folks intelligence. Should read : 'The 25-year-old has been signed in place of Cameron Heeps and comes highly recommended by Championship outfit Redcar one of whose directors just happens to be Wolves Promoter Chris Van Straaten so it's the easy/cheap option'. WOLVERHAMPTON hand a debut to Danish racer Jonas B Andersen when they host Midland rivals Leicester at Monmore Green on Monday (7.30).The 25-year-old has been signed in place of Cameron Heeps and comes highly recommended by Championship outfit Redcar.

  36. Speedway star 28th July had a couple of fabulous quotes from Rob Godfrey. "you can't have 99% of the league clubs all racing on the same night, it's ludicrous. Followed by" people can slag me off but it's BSPA protocol that's needs to be adhered to." Now two points if the BSPA hadn't made the sport so reliant on guests you could have most teams running on the same day the guest rule in itself is ludicrous. Second BSPA protocol? Didn't realise that such a thing existed!

  37. Exactly as it should be in speedway. It is a travesty of justice for a team to fight all season to get to the top and have it all taken away in one meeting. League Champions top Play Off Champions second.

  38. My wife is the perfect speedway critic. If it's good, she'll get into it. If it isn't, she'll ignore it. The Swindon v Leicester match on BT the other week caused a lot of consternation on here because of the track etc, but there was one moment in it thst caused her to say "this is what annoys me about speedway", and that was when a race was stopped for moving at the start. This, seriously, has to stop happening. Whrn it does, everyone groans and gets annoyed. People aren't going to pay money and make an effort to watch something that makes them groan and get annoyed.

  40. Holder was always going to be the weak link and it should have been spotted on the P&P day when the promoter sheepishly announced there was a problem. Should have priced him out of the UK market at circa £50k price tag and waved him on his way. As it happens, it appears the Border Control Agency have done us a favour.

  43. Gino was brought in on a 5.4 Pt average at the beginning of the season and when the side were going well he upped his average,it is currently 4.2 average and I believe it will go up roughly to his starting average or more so anyone who suggests Connor Mountain as a replacement are stupid as we would weaken our side even further.Connor is a rider for the future who il like but was dumped by Ipswich because he wasn't scoring pts Anyone who goes to the meet the riders after the home meetings understand the reasons for his dip in form, he got a raw deal off an ex Scunny rider over equipment he was sold from him , he is now living on the site at the track and loads of other things which have contributed to his dip in form The team which was set up by Rob has been desimated by injuries all season long yet we are still in there fighting for silverware on two fronts as I think the league position to qualify for the play offs is beyond us .So my call to supporters is back the team to the hilt hopefully Stefan will be back soon , as in past seasons we have been just seeing the season out from August if we win the cup or shield brilliant if we don't we have still witnessed some great racing on in my opinion the best and fairest race track in our league so come on get behind all 7 of our riders and see we're this journey takes us Up The Scorpions

  47. Mr Godfrey has not had an Agenda but seems to be the Spokesperson for the BSPA. Last year, Whenever Buster made a comment, he was lambasted as people thought it was his idea but he was speaking up for the BSPA as a group as Godfrey has done in the past. The Friday fixture situation was explained in the SS the other week but people will still make their own assumptions. I am pretty sure Mr Godfrey can look after himself. Whether right or wrong, we all post opinions on here as that is what a forum is for.
