People crying that the environment agency should be imposing fines on Poole is just about the most stupid thing I've read on this forum I think. Have they not realised what sport they are following ffs? I dislike Poole as much as the next person but talk about desperate jibes....5 points
-
Absolutely. That was how Speedway should be last night. A massive crowd, without doubt the biggest of the season so far - so much so I ventured to the back straight to view as my usual spot was packed. Meeting ran through perfectly without needless delays. Even with an interval after heat 12 the meeting was Finished by 9 o'clock. As I've also said previously, that is the best I've seen the track prepared this season too. Great stuff.5 points

Couldn't agree more, CR. Every now and then I walk out of a meeting feeling that British speedway is still alive and kicking, and that was how I felt last night.5 points
-
Think all tracks should do it if it improves the track and ultimately the racing. Just be a bit more discreet about it.5 points

Im a lynn fan that dislikes poole but this really is a storm in a teacup! We were beaten on what on a good day is a sh!t track. but its the same for both teams. As for the Contamination. This is a tiny thing. its almost a nothing and if it helps the track so be it. Poole track needs as much help as it can get. Maybe be discreet. sure its no worse than a few stock car crashes? No track needs the Environmental bs because that would put the sport in a bad place. a lot of hot air over nothing and a few posters on here that could do with growing up a bit on both sides of the argument. Its a bit cringe really!4 points

When Steve Worrall broke his leg at the start of the season, a collection was taken during an home meeting probably about three weeks later, but Stephan Nielsen also broke his leg roungd about the same time, but NO collection has been taken for Steph, I am wondering why this is the case??? Steve will be a high earner due to Championship, Premier League and International contracts, where as Steph has been out just as long, and will not be in the same wage bracket as Steve, would it be possible for a collection to also be taken for Steph, who is also one of our team and has earned nearly nothing this season.4 points

to be fair Lambert is correct in all this. Should Poole be deducted points..no. Should Poole be fined by the Environmental Agency, 100% yes.4 points

Excellent meeting last night. Big crowd, well run, and chips at Burnham on sea. Perfect day out!4 points

A couple of points. As DWP pointed out it is illegal to “dispose” of oil in an inappropriate manner. Disposing of oil on the track is inappropriate unless it was caused by machinery failure, in which case best efforts should be made to contain the spillage and then clean it up and properly dispose of the contaminated material. On the subject of the “Castrol R” smell, this was created because “old school” engines had total loss oil systems whereby oil was pressure fed into the engine and then burnt within the engine and emitted through the exhaust system. Today’s engines use a a recirculating system and so the oil is not burnt and thus does not cause the “Castrol R” effect in tha same way that it did. In the interests of speedway as a whole, I think it might be wise to stop all discussions relating to oil spillage and let the club carry out an internal investigation.4 points

That’s uncalled for - but not unexpected now your team are winning - the cockiness has returned4 points

The sport needs more entertainers like him not less. Whoever he has rode for has loved seeing him celebrate like he does.Crowd reacts to it,which makes for a better atmosphere. The better the atmosphere, the more he does to celebrate.Hope he continues to do it. Great come back from the lads last night. There's a great spirit amongst them right now. Determined to keep that league record in place4 points

Really good set up down there at The Oaktree. Once the track had dried out some good racing, far better than at the Abbey. 7 out of 15 race winners for Swindon, but 14 last places! Bellego flying for 3 races then burnt out 2 clutch plates in final 2. Muesli unbeatable in last 3, almost fencing Holder in heat 15! Batch strangely out of sorts, though he has been excellent all season. Luckily Doyle wasn't racing or they may have hit 60. Rebs deserve to be in playoffs. Never seen so many animals around a stadium, dogs, goats, peacocks, chickens, its a cross between a zoo and motor cycling arena! Friendly bunch of local yokels, apart from result an enjoyable evening. Great support from Wiltshire, bumper crowd. Meeting ran at fast pace, back indoors for 10.30, 70 miles, driving on the motorways.4 points

I am no Poole fan but some of the s... thrown at them at times is now getting to be a bit tiresome.I think British speedway is in big big trouble and i think the speedway family need to stick together now otherwise our sport in this Country is doomed.3 points

Club website confirms spill has been dealt with and waste disposed of in correct fashion. Move along nothing to see here.3 points

I agree. Poole should he docked points. They are getting a bit close to the top of the league now - so let's just get hold of their points and dock a few. Maybe about 10 or so. Bloody Poole.3 points

Politicians answer as usual from you.So you aren't going to admit you were wrong then. You said the oil was an accident and it wasn't. You can see why some fans despise Poole, and it's only because of a few posters like yourself. You are such an arrogant ar*%$ole3 points
-
Me too. Still haven't got over it. They won't be satisfied until the whole country is one mass of shops, offices and houses, and life is totally dull with no excitement .3 points

You must have been standing next to me because that is exactly what was said .... our supporters were superb again last night backing the team. The riders all wanted to thank them for the long journey they had made midweek to back the team, and thats why they came out to celebrate with them after the meeting Really good close meeting and a warm welcome from our hosts ... NLSpeedway as it should be3 points

Unless the “exciting plans” from the BSPA include a new vice chairman, I don’t see speedway at Lakeside in 2019 being viable - whatever the outcome of discussions with the owners of the Lakeside sports site. Under the tenure of the 2018 BSPA management committee 2 clubs appear to have been assisted towards closure.3 points

dont know anything about the legal ramifications but it does appear that most if not all tracks have in the past or still are doing similar see bob cs post,i thought his mention of mixing the oil into the water bowser was a more discreet and efficient way of spreading the oil.One thing though is that no track is doing it to gain an advantage but to create a better surface for both sets of riders and a better meeting for the paying customer3 points
-
Heat 8 was a very good battle and the track certainly looked fine Plenty of material - perhaps a little loose but far better than the majority of tracks seen recently. A huge improvement on previous seasons and a testament to some obvious hard work to rectify some long standing issues3 points
-
This ocassion. So correct about all the other ocassions then.3 points

Does this happenat other tracks? Hilarious how so many people spectacularly missed Robert Lambert's point on Twitter. Not sure if it was lack of brain cells or an inability to read properly.3 points

Here is a link to the Echo, where there a load of photos (99) from last nights meeting, including the Harris crash. http://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/sport/16392293.chris-harris-walks-away-from-horror-crash-as-in-form-pirates-thrash-kings-lynn/ Very disappointed with NKI and Roberts comments. They were beaten fair and square on a superbly prepared race surface. Some excellent racing, despite the score. Certainly more entertaining than last week! Nothing wrong with the oil, just maybe could have been more subtle about it. There is not a single track in the country that hasnt or still does it. Most tracks pour some oil into the water bowser and then it gets spread more evenly. Nothing to see here.3 points

You make it sound so easy ... So it must be true. I would love to watch Championship level Speedway for £10 to £12 in 2019. But returning to planet Earth ....3 points

IF there is any fine it is more likely to be from outside speedway via council/enviromental agencies There is no justification for a speedway fine or points deduction3 points

FFS Dock points - unbelievable for something that happened after a meeting. Fine them - well yes in this environmentally sensitive age I'd go along with that but only if the money went to the Ben Fund.3 points

Lynn got stuffed - expected There was oil on the track - not expected Shovlar is gloating - expected Situation normal. If only speedway racing was this exciting BTW best wishes to all riders injured last night.3 points

I would listen to riders like NKI and Rob Lambert over someone who has a proven biased track record like SS, every time.2 points

It's called, covering their ar$€ because they do not have a permit to use waste oil.2 points

Maybe more than three. Seems to be pretty much an open secret they want to reduce it to maybe a maximum of 12 PL/CL clubs so it's a manageable size for one big league. Of course idiots like Chapman and Godfrey are too thick to realise that less clubs mean les fans overall and the contraction continues.2 points

That is total rubbish Starman. I don't care which team it is. Dumping oil is against the law, whoever does it. Even changing your car engine oil, the old oil has to be disposed of in accordance with the law, the council/private waste disposal units provide containers for used oil, you just cant dump wherever you want. You be telling me next its ok to drive up a lovely country lane and just dump my old mattress or old fridge.2 points

How long have you been going to speedway??. You should know better that that, it's Poole you are talking about... It's nothing to do with getting thrashed. We have been used to it over the years. For me it was Poole fans slagging off Lambo BEFORE they read his post properly. Then the tractor pissed it out lol .. Fancy telling someone to go pour oil on the track in front of the supporters ffs I didn't affect the meeting of course, but it must the next one otherwise why do it.. He was perfectly entitled to post that tweet. He did not say it was before or during the meeting at all. It's just Poole fans that can't seem to take a negative comment. And the attitude of most Poole fans, who hate loosing and being wrong. If Poole had a tiddlewinks team, Ford would search the globe for people with 2 thumbs on each hand..2 points

I wouldn't like to guess, but I got to the track about 7:15 and was queued back onto the main road as there was so many people going in. I don't think I can ever recall that happening before. The 2nd field was packed too which is always a good indicator of a good crowd. Genuine food for thought, I wonder what the crowd would of been like on a Friday? I would make a guess at smaller because I bet half the people wouldn't of travelled with the usual school holiday Friday night traffic headache on the M5.2 points

Long before oil catchers on bikes, the oil was dripping from the engines into the track surface. This always helped the shale bind and keep moisture in the surface. Thats where we used to get the infamous 'Castrol R' smell from. Not the engines, but with the shale being moved around. Its nothing new. A few points from last night. Best wishes to Bomber, Ty, and Thomas, hope they are all ok this morning. Proctor gets pulled back for a flyer, quite right, yet Kurtz gets an even bigger flyer, nothing! Really felt for Newman in Ht8. Rode very well indeed, yet some how the referee gives 3rd to MPT on the line.2 points

C Harris must be made of rubber, some of the most awful crashes I've seen have involved Harris, and every time he's walked away.............thankfully.2 points

Totally agree 35 points using Premiership averages is 45.5 at this years Championship level A 10% increase in rider quality yet there is an expected reduction in admission from around £16 to £10 Pie in the sky2 points

Love them or hate them Poole are setting the benchmark at the moment and last night we fell an alarmingly long way short. Even with the first choice reserves back next week this team looks a signing or two short of the required standard due to the patchy form of key riders. One doubts whether the resources and will to change things is there unfortunately. As for the comments of Lambert and Puk, both are entitled to their say and neither we're anything to do with sour grapes or sore losing but it's another example of how most people on Twitter are thick and don't actually read and understand what is written but just pile in with stupid comments. Robert's comments weren't even about the quality of the racing surface. Anyway time to regroup for two tough matches against the Aces next week.2 points

Typical from you,so when Poole were losing at home it was ok for their riders to criticize the track. But when the away team lose and they criticize the track you want the book thrown at them.I seem to think you are a being a bit childish too.So Poole riders can say what they want about the track but no other riders from other clubs are allowed to criticize it.It again is all about Poole in your blue tinted spectacles.2 points
