With a special mention for Chris Harris, who walked around the entire stadium with his bucket, posing for selfies and thanking each fan for their donation. For a visiting rider, who had just been handed a 5-1 and might have been a bit down, this was truly commendable.8 points

It's not about who's fault it is or isn't or what's fair or unfair, it's about following the rules.7 points

It is also true that crowds started to drop in the 1980's and have continued to decline ever since, despite the fact that for much of that period the big stars were still here. There is little, if any, evidence to support the argument that a return of the top stars will result in any sustained increase in crowd numbers. The only viable option now is to build a model that allows the majority of clubs to operate within their financial means and that can provide a basis on which to rebuild the sport on a sound financial footing.6 points

I know where you're coming from. But, personally, I'd have egg and chips every day... so long as the place was run properly and open when it said on the door and didn't keep you waiting hours before the dish was finally served.6 points

Then surely it is up to Josh to tell pzm to stick it and ride for Poole, he doesn't even ride every meeting for them anyway .This rule about getting a NL rider isn't fair on the team or the paying public but it's the rule so should be adhered to. If this was a Leicester rider Poole would be trying to use it to their advantage too.5 points

Cant blame the fans for that . In the two or three seasons post the 2011 title win , winning meetings wasnt a frequent occurence , even at home . But enter the Facennas and the stadium was transformed into what we have now . And the promise of a team to support fitting of the stadium was what was promised . Truth be told though , apart from the 2016 KO Cup win , the expectation levels havent been achieved . And the sad fact is , we're further away from any silverware than at any other time during the Facenna's tenure . We arent stupid , we know money cant buy success , but we seem capable of putting togethet a strong looking side on paper , but for some reason those sides dont seem to gel .4 points

I thought it was a good meeting as did the others i was around. Haven't seen it on telly yet but considering its the same old posters moaning ill take the "poor meeting" with a pinch of salt. Glad to send them home pointless!!!! Wednesday will be the true test away at poole. If we hit 40 then id take that as a good effort.3 points

Almost all clubs at the top two levels are running at a loss or very near to it, they can only run at an affordable level and as several are likely to close or apply for NL membership, one league would seem to be the only option. It is now about survival rather than anything else.3 points

There you go - you even know the rules - but want to relax them because it’s Poole?3 points
-
Polish license or not - UK has priority on Mondays. If he rides in Poland and Poole use a facility for him - then it’s an automatic 28 day ban!3 points
-
Doesn't the International Leagues agreement now take precedence over everything? Including which license a rider has? The Wednesdays/Thursdays fudge doesn't leave the UK with a leg to stand on with the DMU re Wednesdays but it seems that the DMU is being reasonable. With Mondays it is clear-cut re which league has priority, and in this case the rider has a contract with a UK club to ride on Mondays but is being prevented from doing so by his parent authority.3 points

I have heard tonight that Leicester are getting clarity on the Josh G situation so that the correct action is taken. If he doesn’t ride then it should be a NL replacement. I just hope this can be sorted before the meeting as do want a situation where Leicester ride under protest and then a ruling is made where RR points get deducted3 points

If Josh does not ride for Poole tomorrow, regardless if he is on a Polish License it makes a joke of the decision made at the AGM. UK top flight is Monday & Wednesday and this was agreed to avoid clashes with Poland. Monday is Poland’s off night, so Josh should be at Leicester, if he isn’t then a 28 day ban should be put in place for with holding his services. He hasn’t ridden much in Poland this year, so surely staying loyal to UK is better for him. All the messing about at the start with not using him, now they are desperate as they are behind on fixtures and need the points to climb up the table.3 points

Alan completed the C2C in just over 12 hours rasing a considerable amount for the Ben Fund, he was accompanied by his friend Richard on the main route and they were joined by Simon Lawson for the coastal finish, the weather conditions towards the end were very poor3 points

Perhaps Leicesters team changes were to do with cost cutting and survival rather than strengthening.2 points

Decent performance from Swindon in the end, despite some poor decisions from the ref for bringing back starts or the middle order just riding through the tapes anyway. Result should have been decided much earlier than it was. Surprised to see anyone saying that the racing was good. Shows just how bad last week was. Just because there was a bit less dust this week, the track hasn’t suddenly become good. There was a couple of good opening laps tonight, but aside from Tobias nearly getting past Howarth and Nick ploughing into the back of Morris, there was 0 action past the first lap. Even the quickest riders of night didn’t look like they’d have a hope in hell of making a pass from the back. It seems like it doesn’t matter where the boys try and put the bike, they can’t generate the speed to get close enough to make a pass at all. All you have to do at the moment is get round the first and second bend quicker than someone else and then ride mid track and not make any mistakes at all, that’s your points sewn up. As I’ve implied before, it’s going to take a lot more than some new shale and a bit of water to make the track good in any way again.2 points

Here is my view as a neutral who was at the meeting. The track was a bit tricky at the start and no doubt contributed to the two major incidents. With a two hour curfew in place, Kent should consider employing a second ambulance to help keep delays at a minimum. Lastly with a big holiday crowd in attendance, Eastbourne's delaying tactics to slow the meeting down were a disgrace. With the sport suffering at all levels, selfish antics are the last thing speedway needs.2 points

Wow, with all the arrogant trumpeting on here tonight you'd think Poole had the trophy in their possession already, and bizarrely Starman is the one telling everyone to keep their feet on the ground. Pride comes before a fall and all that.2 points

Yes, the reason the team looks good and “balanced all round” is because it’s a 46 point team, while all the others were built to 42.5! Poole trying to buy the title again. What a crock.2 points

It doesn’t matter where you start it’s where you finish that counts. Still a long way to go but I would not want to pick us if we get in the play offs. The addition of Bomber has given us some much needed experience , still would like to see more from Josh and Ritchie but they are picking up points. The team looks balanced all round, The new averages may have an effect let’s wait and see. Felt sorry for Leicester tonight a few more meetings like that and we could see another team disappearing hope not we need them all , but they ran into a resurgent Poole side. looking forward to Wednesday AGAINST KL . Lambert for all his youth looks class and I hope he gets a wild card pick in the GPS next year ,2 points

Actually, football is having a similar problem to Speedway in that younger fans are not coming through the turnstiles. The average age of fans going to Premier League matches is 42 and is increasing. Compared to the season before the Premier League was born the average age was 30. The top 2 divisions are pricing families out of the market, relying heavily on the merchandise, sponsorship and television markets for income. It's expected that over the next 10 years the admission prices will only increase by 4% on season 2017/18. But by season 2027/28 the average age of fans is predicted to rise by 15% to just over 48. Clubs are being pressurised to reduce turnstile costs to encourage under 25's but many are not interested, instead increasing the numbers of corporate packages available. If things continue in the current trend, by 2035 the Premier League is to be played out to half empty stadiums or even, majority corporate venues2 points

Must say it will be a shame if Workington aren't in the play offs due to being unable to run enough home meetings despite it being the best summer in living memory by the cut-off date. Good luck in the cup2 points

Well I read what Torben had to say ... 1) Cardiff would be more attractive nearer the business end of the Championship where the meeting could be more 'vital' in the title race 2) moving away from the 'holiday season' will allow more fans to attend and this would be specifically the case for 'locals' 3) the later date should have a 'positive effect' on accommodation price. I cannot help being sceptical about his words though .... I have never heard anyone say they avoided attending Cardiff due to it being too early in the title chase but would suddenly do so if it were only 'more vital'. Most Cardiffs have been last week June to second week July which is generally not holiday season for most people. Goodness know why 'local' Cardiff folk would suddenly start attending in September when they have studiously avoided doing so for 18 years before . And I fully expect that the hotels will screw everyone in September just the same as July, especially as the Uni accommodation may be unavailable as well. I presume the Stadium is just not being offered to them any earlier than September for other reasons and he is just spinning it the best way he can. PS I am fine with September ... Just a little less BS from BSI would be nice.2 points

To all of the accusers. Ill make a note of your account accusation's and I shall stick them with the other 3,000 accusations. I must admit though I do get a good laugh out of some people's accusations. Regarding the latest accusation for example Foreverblue's logic. I wanted a no hoper sacked from Poole and ReadingRacer is on a current campaign to get a no hoper sacked from Swindon. Foreverblue's - It must be the same person seeing as they want a struggling rider sacked from a club. Half of you on this forum are phony's but unlike the majority of you I don't care. I don't let the BSF rule my life. From this point forward any account accusations will not be replied to.......Ill just sit here and laugh because I know for a fact that you're wrong. You need to find a new way to entertain yourselves in future. According to this child's paradise (BSF) my real name is. Ross Bennett, Tom Turner and the guy who got sent to prison. If I don't post on this forum for a while I get accused of being sent to prison (SCB) and If I do post on this forum I get accused of being Ross Bennett, Tom Turner, ReadingRacer and 3,000 other people. It really is laughable in the space of one week I have gone from being sent to prison for 3 years (SCB) to becoming ReadingRacer who posts on a daily basis. hahahahaha. Seriously have you actually listened to yourselves. The desperation to try and figure out what my real name is and what name or names in your case that I use on this forum has sunk lower than the titanic. let's face it people in the last few months one member of this forum has been sent to prison (SCB) and another had to create a new account (Gavan) after being found out about certain tweets sent to certain people. So that hardly gives this forum a glowing reference does it. Like I said nothing and I mean nothing you say or do bothers me in the slightest. It just tells me how bored you must be to sit at home and worry about me 12-18 hours per a day. wondering which name I use on this forum and what my real name is. Oh and mods this isn't a personal attack on anyone. It's a constructive post that is 100% factual on every word.2 points

I don't think anyone will dispute that crowds were bigger 10 years when we has more top riders. Whether this is causation or simply correlation is open to debate. Over the last ten years the league has been gradually weakened and in turn crowds have fallen. What on Earth makes anyone think that a significant weakening of the product will not result in a similar decline in crowd numbers?2 points

It’s not about Poole - it’s about the rules - those very same rules that you often hide behind. If the same happened to a Swindon rider i’d Be saying the same. The “fairest” thing is that Poole follow the rules. If they use RR then Scrabble gets a 28 day ban and if they use a NL rider then he can ride in the next Poole meeting - it is that simple and the federation license he holds is totally irrelevant!2 points

‘Get rid of’ as in remove from the Championship. Thought that was obvious. Your story about the grass tracker you raced against- isn’t that basically the same as the Thompsons? The atmosphere at the youth champs is so good for all riders that there is very little pressure on any of the riders other that which they put on themselves, which is the way it should be even for the top riders (all of whom has been through some sort of learning curve in the championships). Yes there are a number of tracks that provide practice opportunities but I think you’ll find that the majority of them do not provide many youth racing opportunities - Scunthorpe are good as are Iwade/Lydd but not many others. A few tracks do demo races before and after meetings but tend to have a select few riders who take part. That the British Championship should be a different level - as I said before, where is the cut off point for this level? Same lap, within half a lap, same part of the track? The youth champs is growing in size every season and is now producing riders who are progressing through the ranks in bigger numbers, having kept the same philosophy as it has now. Give it a very few years and we will have your winners.2 points

Any meat eater would likely prefer the finest fillet steak but if its £50 and you only have a fiver then you have to choose a burger or give up beef For a while some vouchers (sky money) or friendly charities (wealthy sponsors/owners) may allow the steak to be ordered Some would then choose option 1 and some will choose option 2 but either way if theres only £5 available eventually the steak cant be on the menu2 points

If the hijackers will now let us get this thread back in line with its title, it is interesting that Speedway Star have devoted a whole page to an interview with Rob Godfrey and he has simply used it to blame everyone but himself for the trouble he has caused in having fixtures removed from the fixture list. Fixtures, that is, that Godfrey and his (mis) Management Committee, had approved before the season started and the fans relied on. This is the problem with this blinkered shower on the Management Committee (and I use the term "management " in its loosest possible sense) , they are apparently unaware that the sport is on its knees and each time they mess up in this way, more fans walk away. It really is a disgrace and unacceptable for the person whose committee is supposed to be running the sport , to blame other people for the problem he caused. If Scunthorpe hadn't needed guests none of this would have arisen. Still at least we have a member of the (mis) Management Committee acknowledging there is a problem. Until now we have simply had fixtures being pulled out of the list and a month of conspicuous silence from the MC, who have carried on as if nothing had happened, completely ignoring the fans.. I doubt whether Godfrey and his mates could run a stall in a Women's institute jumble say successfully. Incompetent beyond belief2 points
