dan is making a name for himself in the sport don't use that as a negative and a reason to knock Workington comets have a go at the situation for genuine reasons by all means but don't turn success against the sport it is hard that we don't get meetings for weeks on end and then when we do we have riders in overseas meetings but be pleased we have a cumbrian prospect riding at the higher levels a good promotion could use that as publicity4 points

We can speculate every aspect of Glasgow's performances , but the truth is , we should be doing far better than 34 points away from the home . Before Redcar strengthened up , everyone was winning there , we scrambled a point . Our away performances in the Championshio Shield were acceptable , but in the league it's a different story . At home we look far from convincing too . The utter shambolic performance against Workington in the Shield followed by the unforgivable collapse against Edinburgh in the cup has left a lasting effect on attendances We have an underperforming top two who seemingly cant get their machinery to work properly , getting them to get through a meeting on competative engines seems to be a bridge too far . We have a fan masquerading as a team manager who has no tactical nous or the ability to lift the team when the going gets tough. We are constantly fed the party line , that team spirit is good and dont panic Mr Mannering , everything will be ok . Well the harsh reality is , we put together a strong looking side at the start of the season and so far it's blown qualification out of a Shield group it had complete control of . Blown a KO Cup tie it was running away with . And with the next home meeting against the all conquering Lakeside Hammers looming large , defeat in that will leave the play offs looking a very distant holy grail . But dont worry folks , everything will be fine .4 points

Not riding too well? Are you on about the same team who is undefeated at home and won their last away match at Kings Lynn?3 points

Are Poole fans really that fickle? One poor season and everyone stops going? Swindon didn’t win the league for 45 years but we’re still going. Stop sounding like a load of spoilt brats, and support your riders. Kurtz and Grajczonek will come good, even if you don’t win it this year.3 points

Yet more impressive scoring from Leon Flint, this time its 16pts in his sides 50-40 win at Belle Vue, I think I`m right in saying that in the next week or so Leon moves from reserve to be the No1 which is quite an achievement when you look at the riders in the Birmingham team who ride regularly in higher leagues.3 points

The Aces are massive underdogs in this one... If they can get anything out of it it will simply be down to the genius of Mark Lemon... Especially with the track being so incredibly consistently consistent... It's a real problem at the moment having both bends very similarly well prepared and the straights having no bumps.. The rivers Irwell and Mersey may also be at high tide around the time of the meeting but due to being so far away they will have absolutely no bearing on the track. This will obviously result in the home lads having almost no home advantage as they will be confused as to which one of the plethora of lines to take... Can only see one winner... (Sounds a bit like a Poole thread this)...2 points

It's a remarkable achievement that Dan seems able to ride well on tracks he hasn't seen before in countries he hasn't raced in before. Keep it up and the future really could be bright for GB.2 points

He was accused of having a dodgy silencer by fellow riders.Said it sounded strange in the pits when warming up Since then he had trouble. Not picked by Denmark for SWC etc.And as I mentioned it must have been more than just a personal clash with Stekkers as the situation remained pretty much the same when Secher had the job and now also with Hans2 points

Thats what happens in modern day speedway when you sign a precocious talent . At least you havent had the scenario when he's missing one of your matches because Belle Vue have an important meeting the following evening . Well not yet anyway2 points

Just thought I'd make a quick appearance back on here ha ha. I agree with you Dave the racing has been decent so far this season. I think the team is holding their own. Looking solid at home and been unlucky away from home on a few occasions. Remember we only won one away match last season which was at Peterborough largely thanks to reserve guest James Shanes. Just interested to know what the doubters thoughts are who predicted us to be wooden spoonists.Just thinking back to Arsonfire's comment at the start of the season that he would rather pay the petrol money and go to Redcar. Someone else also spouted up they would be happy to share the petrol with him. Can't remember who that was. Maybe they will be honest enough and remind me. A quick look at the league table shows the bears from Redcar struggling. Are you still a regular down there Arse and your mate? Boomerang as usual has been picking and choosing his meetings but still voicing his opinion over the pit fence. Hope this team which is full of triers can keep plugging away until the end of the season. Bye for now. Tin hat at the ready. Ha ha ha ha.2 points

I've got to be careful here as Garry is a good friend but he is such a good team manager. If you travel with him he will go through different scenarios that could crop up and is normally one step ahead of the opposing team manager.2 points

Because Ellis is crap & we can currently replace him someone up to 6.94. That window of opportunity closes soon though2 points

I don't agree that bad control is a bigger issue than track surfaces. Looking at the most recent meetings at all NL tracks on updates : Belle Vue 2 falls, no injuries, 15 heats. Birmingham 4 falls, no injuries, 15 heats. Buxton, 4 falls, no injuries, 15 heats. Coventry 3 falls, no injuries, 15 heats. Cradley no falls, no injuries, 15 heats. Eastbourne, 4 falls, no injuries, 15 heats. IOW, 3 falls, 1 injury, 15 heats. Mildenhall, 4 falls, no injuries, 15 heats. Plymouth, 8 falls, no injuries 15 heats. The one injury was Adam Roynon, - one of the best and most experienced riders - whose throttle stuck open. Plymouth's track surface was described as 'inconsistent'. And then we have Stoke. 13 falls, 3 injuries, 10 heats. Meeting abandoned due to the state of the track, following meeting cancelled a day before hand due to track issues. The above very much suggests to me that the issue here is not about poor throttle control at all, but a dangerous track surface in which all riders - and not just the young and inexperienced ones(I repeat, Ben Morley fell twice) - were unable to cope.2 points

The usual trotted out line that there are ‘plentiful riders from overseas’ who want a team spot here and there are plenty of riders in the NL who could make up team spots. firstly where are these plentiful riders then? Matt Ford has been turned down by many over the past 2 seasons and had to turn to journeymen to make do. Of those plentiful riders from overseas who apparently want to flock here quite a few of them are barely championship level. Most become and stay reserves for several seasons thus keeping the promising Brits out of a team place, but let’s skip over that for now. There aren’t plentiful overseas riders wanting to come over anymore, getting less as the seasons go on. The truth about the NL standard riders only a handful are really able to deal with a level above. If you watch NL racing (I do every week) you simply cannot say that just because a rider of NL has an average of 6 or over they can handle the next level. ill use 2 examples to demonstrate. Mitchell Davey has been a star at this level for a while now but always struggles at levels above. (I use his name with caution due to the serious injuries he received and as someone who was on the track and had to witness his struggle for life it is most definitely not meant in any way as a negative and I couldn’t be any more delighted to see he is now on the mend). Another is Kyle Hughes. A big name in the NL but has struggled at any other level. Then you have heat leaders like Jon Armstrong and Tony Atkin who are both riding for fun and in their late 40’s. So already this exhaustive list of 6 pointers is already growing thin. its fanciful at best to say there are enough riders of adequate quality to fill all team spots. And then when take out teams who have assets to call on to build a stronger team you are leaving some teams with having to pick up the dregs, great for the fans NOT! The facts you quote as I’ve demonstrated are clearly flawed.2 points

Not too sure if Danny was trapped as it was right in front of us but hidden by the air fence in heat 7 but Lakeside had riders in 1st & 2nd & Garrity did not go off 15m either, so there were 2 instances when this rule could have been applied. Let us not be biased but look at all heats that could have had infringements to both sides.1 point

There have also been a track reserve change. Robert Chmiel is in instead of whoever it was.1 point

It's not all doom and gloom at Stars meetings, but it's close to it. The problem is apart from R Lambert there hasn't been much to get excited about. The racing isn't great the atmosphere is flat and I have my doubts it will get any better. Speedway is on a slippery slope. Hardly anyone in the village where I live know what speedway is. Years ago 99 people out off 100 in my village knew who Mike Lee was. Now 99 out of 100 don't know who Rob Lambert is.1 point

I only bring it up as 4thbender doesnt believe in convoluted mathmatical formulae - surely splitting what is clearly only 1 flowing bend at each end of the track doesnt fit with that.....1 point

Danny was brought in at the start of the season with no expectations heaped upon him... All that was asked was for him to go out and do his best... Which he is,... Probably trying too much to be fair, which accounts for the odd tumble now and again. You can see him putting the effort in, effort that isnt always reflected in his scores. There's few out there that could do a better job on his average...so give the lad a break...Show him support and encouragement instead of putting extra pressure on the poor kid. We've shown loyalty to Stevie, Stefan and Gino during hard times ... Danny deserves the same. Keep faith, fingers crossed, our injury problems should start to ease soon and we can kick on again.1 point

A bottom of the league affair with riders missing. Edinburgh tracked Elliott Kelly instead of Ace Pijper at 4 and Gavin Parr replacing James Hitchen at 3, whilst Newcastle were without No 1 Josh Embleton, who had gone down sick that lunchtime, and despite desperate attempts by just about everyone in the league a replacement was not found. So it was going to be 4 man versus 3 man teams until Willie Lawson(ex Gem in 02 and 03) was spotted in the pits for a runout after the meeting. He was approached and agreed to ride at no 1 for the Gems, but due to his history excluding him from the NJL, it was agreed that he could ride, but his points were not to count in the Gems total. In the first race Willie showed his class, but unfortunately his bike spluttered in the lead and his race was over. Archie, riding Edinburgh for the first time, found it awkward to ride, but still managed to take the heat. In Willie's next two rides he showed that he could be a force in higher competitions completing both in good style and times. Dale Pate crashed out in heat 1 landing badly on the back of his head and shoulders and was withdrawn from the rest of the meeting. In the circumstances Edinburgh ran out easy winners. Pate spent time in hospital after the meeting and was released but got home late at 5.00am on the Saturday morning, and did not appear in the opposite fixture on the following Sunday.1 point

Mathematics must work differently in California - presumably the sun gets to your head. Just for the record, the Speedway Control Bureau set out the rules of the Championship Shield at the start of the season. They agreed that a home win would be worth three league points, an away win by between 1 and 6 points would be worth 3 league points and an away win by 7 points or more would be worth 4 league points. We have a situation where two teams have won all their home matches and have each won one match away. One of the teams has picked up 3 away points and the other team has picked up 4. Given the importance that the Speedway Control Bureau has placed on winning by 7 points or more (to the extent of awarding it an extra league point), wouldn't common sense dictate that the team that has the bigger away win should qualify to the next stage? But no, the Speedway Control Bureau - in its wisdom - says that the team with the lesser away victory should be awarded the spoils. Comedy gold it might be, but just who are the jokers?1 point

Well I might have s view on the outcome once I know Leicester's line-up.1 point

Too many times riders go down after "1st bend bunching" and get reruns. To me Andersson got into trouble on outside and was cause of stoppage. On any other lap he would have been excluded.....1 point

First of all well done Lakeside. Reserves scores in the last 3 home matches 6. Danny Phillips - 1', 0, F/X, 0, 1, 0 = 2+1 ... he should know the home track by now and 1 of those points was in a 3 rider finish 7. Gino Manzares - 1, R, 1, F/X = 2 Peterborough loss 6. Danny Phillips 1, 2, 0, 0, 0 = 3 7. Jordan Stewart (G) 0, 0, 0, 0 = 0 Newcastle win.. 6. Danny Phillips 0, 0, 0, 0 = 0 7. Todd Kurtz (G) 1, 2', 1, 0, 2', 0 = 6+2 As shown against Peterborough and Lakeside you arent going to win many matches with reserves scoring like that, coupled with #1 guests scoring 6pts from 4 rides (Wright), 8 from 5 rides (schlein), 7 from 4 rides (Howarth)... sure Worral would have been hitting 10-12 pts at home. Still think we can reach the play offs but we need Worral back and even more important is for Neilsen to get fit soonest, having the reserves taking 2 of his rides when they are not scoring is killing us.1 point

Sorry it’s not Kings Lynn related but I was lost to the sport when I left school but returned out of curiousity 18 years later and it’s fair to say I’m a regular attender again. Most certainly do get out of the habit so I realise my case isn’t the usual at all.1 point

Crowd was about average. Track was very dusty and I had to move from first bend to back straight to see anything. Tobi's ride to beat Iversen was a good one, Batch and Nick's team riding in 13 to keep Lambert behind was excellent, looking for each other all the time. Lambert did a good pass on Ellis but other than that not a great meeting.1 point

Middlo is the most successful living manager. His record speaks for itself. Long may he remain at Poole as manager.1 point

I sit in the home straight stand right in line with the start and Connor just beat Garcia. The ref was spot on with her decisions except for excluding Joel Andersson when it was a classic case of first bend bunching.1 point

After ten years as a supporter I foolishly volunteered to help out on the supporters club. From then on I was subjected to endless venom from a member of the promotion to the point where it all just fell apart for me. I could barely face attending meetings and spent several years away from the track subsequently. You wouldn't treat a dog like it, and certainly not a dedicated customer of ten years' standing. On one occasion we were told very arrogantly that the team had signed a rider who was going to be the next great thing. Being then a keen student of the sport as a whole and avid statistician I said "Isn't he the one just dropped by Exeter?" It was a pretty appalling thing to say, I must admit. It was met with "You supporters think they know EVERYTHING!" and a slamming of the office door. The rider lasted about a month, The person concerned almost destroyed speedway for me. Thankfully it was just before I was 'discovered' as a commentator and that saved my interest in the sport. It was only Ron Russell who could get me back to Rye House. When the person I referred to earlier showed up again in 2000, that is why I immediately walked away from Rye House. I know some were mystified at the time but I could not let my personal life be severely affected by speedway again. What relevance has this to current events? I see promoters who treat supporters like dirt being hailed as heroes and the genuine ones often treated as idiots by fans. BOTH PROMOTERS AND FANS HAVE TO WORK TOGETHER. THE SPORT IS TOO SMALL NOT TO. Just the right information at the right time can keep the supporters' faith. Communication is all for silence can easily be misconstrued as contempt. Anyway, I'd better walk away from the Rye House discussion now in case I cop for a ban before I even get the chance to see my second meeting there in 25 years....1 point

people aren't fighting to get in the stadium before the "full" signs go up, so to have a future there HAS to be an element of back to basics in this country. the old NL (1970s/80s) was predominantly British/Commonwealth riders, most of those riders also had jobs outside of speedway yet it ticked along nicely and gave us some great entertainment, this is what we need to be seeing again, cut the cloth accordingly1 point
