There's a noticeable difference in the attitudes from fans of different teams. Poole fans seem quick to criticise and want changes as soon as riders go through a bad patch or don't live up to their expectations. Kurtz was a hero, the new superstar and now he is going through a bad patch he is constantly criticised, Josh G is what he is, a good second string, possible third heat leader, he is having a difficult time and so must go, Szczepaniak is not far off his starting average but because he was expected to be far better, a ringer, he must go. At Belle Vue Cook had been going through a difficult time, the fans are loyal and supportive not calling for him to go and if this week is any guide, it seems he may be getting back to form. Drozdz has struggled, not achieving his starting average but again fans are not calling for his head, they can see he is giving 100% and like Cook,. he has had two impressive performance this week. Maybe, just maybe, riders respond better when fans and teams offer encouragement and show loyalty than when they must feel the insecurity of knowing that there is a sword hanging over them.7 points

You mean Ben Morley, one of the NL's top riders ? He fell twice in three races on Saturday. Word I got from IOW was that it was so bad they did not want to send their riders out. Trying to pass the buck and blame riders is not just a cop out, its a sham - and it could be seen as an attempt to get promoters whose tracks are dangerous off the hook. If this were happening everywhere and there were multiple fallers and unacceptable levels of riders leaving stadiums injured as a result of the track surface you might have a point. It isn't, though, and no other track in Britain has a reputation for such incompetence as Stoke - and that's by a long chalk. The sooner the SCB get involved, the better.5 points

Trees if only the people running the thing at Lynn were as good at thier job as you are at supporting the Club then the place would be playing to 2,000 plus gates.5 points

An often wheeled out excuse when it comes to the one league debate or when there are calls to scrap doubling up and one that simply isn't true at all. One league would be somewhere between the already close standard of the top two leagues. 19 teams, 133 rider spots. At present in the top two divisions there are 104 different riders. A shortfall of 29. So how do you address that shortfall. A quick scan of the greensheets show that between the top two tiers there are at least eight riders who for one reason or another have lost a team spot. That shortfall becomes 21. Cast our eyes back to 2017 and there are at least 30 names who featured in one of the top two tiers who have no spot at either level this time around. That shortfall has already been wiped out. Granted some have retired and some names may not wish to return next year. But we also haven't factored in the plentiful riders from overseas who would bite your arm off for a team spot over here, then there is also the National League where another quick check shows at least 15 riders averaging over six points a meeting without a team spot at a higher level. So in short, not enough riders? Not true. And there are facts to prove it.5 points

Of course, I too don't want to see KLS die, I followed the Stars at Norwich before KLS opened but there is currently much wrong with speedway, and at King's Lynn, which fans could have a constructive input to. One main reason I retired to King's Lynn was to not have to travel to see the Stars ride. But I was young and foolish then! I have advocated that on here and emailed the suggestion - politely - to the club in the past and of course received no answer. I would love to join a group of fans who have concerns ( NOT to rant and rave ) but the impression is that Buster is not open to the idea. Why doesn't Robin Brundle meet with fans who have concerns, if Buster does not feel able to?3 points

Although I'm a positive, glass half full chap it's difficult to disagree with almost all of the negative viewpoints this forum throws up from fellow Stars supporters.....I'd really like to see some kind of dialogue between somebody at the club and those people who are losing or have lost faith in the way it is run. All posting on here does it let off steam, it doesn't really deliver the message to where it needs to go and I don't think social media is enough either. Some kind of action group which physically meets up with the promotion would help the situation we appear to have now, I wonder if this is something that the supporters club could arrange? I don't think everybody is ever going to agree but an honesty session without some of the nastiness that forums and social media can manifest can only do good.3 points

Surely with the Poultec academy based from Kings Lynn and the extra track time afforded to those riders one must be worth a look? In terms of Brits who would hold their own at least against the opposite numbers Morley, Mountain, Bacon, Hume or Shanes all have to be a more positive signing than sticking with Andersen.3 points

We now find Kasper Andersen is suspended from British racing, having deemed to have concussion, yet cleared by a GP the next day to race in Denmark on Wednesday! Words fail me. Its not the Managements fault, but if I was in their shoes, he would be out of the door, and replaced with a young British rider. Surely we can't do any worse?3 points

I thought it was better than average to be honest because there was possibly more than about 3 passes all evening. The racing this season has been absolute toilet in the most part. Decent enough crowd in the sun too. Seeing Lambert looking very quick and exciting in the flesh was great to see. Don’t remember him pulling up any trees particularly at blunsdon before, so was welcome to see him in full flight. Great stuff. its nearly July and there’s absolutely no sign of the stadium “redevelopment”. Have we broken another deadline yet?2 points

At home Lasse is our top scorer with an average of 10.34. Away from home he's our third top scorer, but less than 2 points a match behind Kyle Howarth. I think he'll have better days than the ones against Ipswich and Newcastle which I would write of as "blips." It would be a massive risk to even consider dispensing with his services IMO.2 points

You keep saying the sports not credible because rider's ride in the Premiership and Championship. How is it different from riding all over Europe?? If British Speedway can get the race night's right doubling up/down doesn't discredit the sport at all. There's no rivalry between clubs in each league. Every club and fans have their rider's to support etc. To make a living, at the very least, British rider's should be allowed to race in both the Premiership and Championship. Sweden has doubling up/down without it being discredited by fans, it should be no different here apart from the BSPA/SCB getting it all wrong.2 points

Robin Brundle is just a puppet at Kings Lynn. Did anyone really think Buster would change his dictatorship ways ? Even his own flesh n blood couldn’t turn him around so what chance has an outsider like Brundle ? Its either Busters way or the Highway, as he knows best. You only have to look at the p155 poor job he has made of the Chairmanship of the BSPA to see what he can offer to Kings Lynn Speedway these days.2 points

I’ve walked away basically it’s the only real way to get speedway not just Kings Lynn speedway to take notice my cash stays firmly in my pocket and it will till things change or attitudes change - social media if you raise a question that is anything other than towing the clubs line you are blocked straight away - I really do think I’m KL case it’s Busters way only so to get a group of fans to meet the promotion I think is more or less a waste of time - great idea but I doubt much would come out of it . I’m coming up to a full calendar year since I last attended a meeting at Kings Lynn and I’m far from alone on that one I can name several long term fans that have walked away over the last 18 months .2 points

Well said Bagpuss. If something isn't done to stop the rot, there will come a time when there will be no club to support or moan about. Ive gone from a rabid every home and 95% of away meetings to not even looking to see the score in the evening in under 10 years. it's all very well Brundle bringing in these new features, and I applaud it wholeheartedly, but without addressing the lack of trust the fans have in the club things will only get worse. I doubt I will ever become a regular again, it will have to be something very special to even get me back thro Saddlebow Roads turnstiles again but I would hate to see the club die. Lots of issues are not specifically Lynn's fault, FRNs, stupid rules etc BUT the club has to start treating the fans they have left with respect. tell them the truth! don't try and polish a turd with what they think fans want to hear. The time for that went away with the advent of social media. Fans now demand the truth and the club needs to recognise it. Unless and until they do the slope IMHO is downhill. Lordy its ages since I had a good rant2 points

Many thanks. It's been a while since I've written like this. Partly it's down to having been rather il lately and that tends to make you reassess priorities and partly that I've been honoured to be asked to write the eulogy for Kelvin's funeral. It's a great honour. Sadly I'll be recuperating in Cornwall so a suitable stand-in will be reading my words. I still love this sport despite everything it threw at me over the years. It does leave me a little lacking in patience with certain types posters though. Does it show?2 points

One of the biggest gripes of the fans is the clubs lack of communication building up to meetings. This still hasn't been corrected. Conference at the end of meetings is all well and good but most don't want to hang around with work / school the next day. As what Robin Brundle has added, that should be seen in results but we sit bottom, 6 points of top 4 with no meetings in hand on 4th. Also we haven't had a full 7 for weeks so all this training lark is pointless and a nonsense. We know how strong we can perform with our full 1-7. The question remains on how often will they all ride together? The club needs to stop the lies that Denmark won't interfere. Just be straight up and honest about the challenges ahead with the supporters. Should never promise that rider's won't be missing any more meetings, that's just nonsense.2 points

Total stitch up all night. Garcia was ahead by nearly half a wheel. King should never have been allowed IRR - he started off injured and maybe aggravated it but didn't incur a new injury. Should be a 14 match ban after he is signed off as fully fit. And Rory's flier in heat 15 put any of Sarj's or Campo's to shame. And Andersson should never have been excluded from whatever heat it was. And all because the lady likes a lollipop? All these decisions against us - we could have hit 60 otherwise, well maybe if Ricky had brought his normal form to the party and we had cut out our last places. And if the track hadn't been so rough. What is that contraption made of bedsprings actually meant to do? Nice shiny tractor though. But we scored what we are usually scoring away from home nowadays - 37. But fings can only get better, onwards and upwards, there's light in the tunnel, every dog has his day, and it's our 70th birthday. Take that. Good to meet up with the Massif mob again for the first time in a while and the last time for a while. Sound system was slightly improved. But I'm still not going to donate to Bustit's pension fund - I have my pride and I know how to hide all my sorrow and pain - heard that before somewhere. C'mon the Monarchs.2 points

Since he is likely to be paid more and earn more at Ipswich, I wouldn't have thought signing him would be a problem, as money talks, and I'm sure he wants to earn as much money as he can, oh and we will take proctor off your hands too2 points

Im sure there are plenty of teams that would love their manager to be as fruitful.2 points

One of the absurdities of the current system is that Rye House and Lakeside, natural rivals, have so rarely raced each other for many years. Those lost derbies could have made a heck of a lot to the finances of the track over the years. Neither track really belongs in the top flight. They should be racing each other. Imagine a fixture list including the Rockets racing Lakeside, Ipswich, King's Lynn, Peterborough, Kent and Eastbourne, before you even look further afield. It'll never happen,.........but just imagine....2 points

The sad thing is that despite the many valid points for and against the fixed race nights raised herein and in particular how the sport could be improved no one who is in charge of speedway in the UK is listening or gives a fig and the riders tend to look after themselves. Supporters, fans, followers, all area irrelevant, the only thing management and riders are interested in is the entrance fee paid and the income from other areas such as food, car park, programmes etc. that go towards paying over inflated wages and money spent on bikes etc. The sooner the two guilty culprits realise that funds/followers simply do not generate sufficient income to make their demands viable. Why else are so many clubs in dire financial straits and so few new potential riders of the right quality and skills coming through the ranks. A radicle change is required but it will not happen. At the moment you have fewer meetings and lack of continuity with some clubs racing at home once every three weeks and this is another nail in the coffin. I doubt that any of the current encumbents at the BSPA are capable of pulling the preferable rabbit out of the hat and fewer clubs will be coming to the tapes in 2019.2 points

The self fulfilling prophecy of what we have today is clearly not down to the fans... Any failing business simply cannot blame the general public for not purchasing it's products.. For the past 20 years or so promoters of Speedway (British Speedway), have been given some fantastic constructive feedback from fans (and more importantly possibly) ex fans who still care.. 24/7 Social media has replaced the way a few fans moaned to each other at trackside, getting more and more disillusioned. Or writing the odd letter to the various magazines that do/did cover the sport airing their frustrations at what they were being served up.. As an example, on this thread 'guests' were mentioned as being in the sport for 40 years plus.. Now domestic League Speedway is shown regularly on National TV and Social Media is rife, you simply cannot get away with such nonsense if you are truly serious in trying to attract a wider audience and to entice them to a 'proper sport'.. Many fans, and ex fans, have said this for many years yet (as is their right), British Speedway Promoters have ignored such comments and continued with this policy.. It is irrefutable that the operating and business models of the past 15 to 20 years or so are not fit for purpose as year on year operating costs rise and income dwindles... And let's be honest, it 100% isn't the fans decision to run with these models... Nor is it their fault when they highlight, via their opinions, 'the bleedin' obvious'...2 points

From the second bend it looked very close but obviously a fair way away and an awkward angle - couldn’t say with confidence either way but was surprised they gave it to Connor rightly or wrongly the awarding of that point I’d like to just say Connor was fantastic value all night his confidence looks up and hopefully over the next few meetings he starts to come out on top in more and more of these battles turning great effort into more points - but even if he didn’t I would happily pay to watch him put in that level of effort every meeting!1 point

After ten years as a supporter I foolishly volunteered to help out on the supporters club. From then on I was subjected to endless venom from a member of the promotion to the point where it all just fell apart for me. I could barely face attending meetings and spent several years away from the track subsequently. You wouldn't treat a dog like it, and certainly not a dedicated customer of ten years' standing. On one occasion we were told very arrogantly that the team had signed a rider who was going to be the next great thing. Being then a keen student of the sport as a whole and avid statistician I said "Isn't he the one just dropped by Exeter?" It was a pretty appalling thing to say, I must admit. It was met with "You supporters think they know EVERYTHING!" and a slamming of the office door. The rider lasted about a month, The person concerned almost destroyed speedway for me. Thankfully it was just before I was 'discovered' as a commentator and that saved my interest in the sport. It was only Ron Russell who could get me back to Rye House. When the person I referred to earlier showed up again in 2000, that is why I immediately walked away from Rye House. I know some were mystified at the time but I could not let my personal life be severely affected by speedway again. What relevance has this to current events? I see promoters who treat supporters like dirt being hailed as heroes and the genuine ones often treated as idiots by fans. BOTH PROMOTERS AND FANS HAVE TO WORK TOGETHER. THE SPORT IS TOO SMALL NOT TO. Just the right information at the right time can keep the supporters' faith. Communication is all for silence can easily be misconstrued as contempt. Anyway, I'd better walk away from the Rye House discussion now in case I cop for a ban before I even get the chance to see my second meeting there in 25 years....1 point
