I for one am pleased GB have the strength-in-depth that allow us to drop a GP rider and replace him with an u21 who can hold his own.9 points

...I'm assuming that this is a reference to Hans Nielsen? Having followed his career from day one and enjoying nine years watching him lead 'The Cheetahs' he was anything but dull. Okay he won most of his races from the gate which many may perceive as being 'dull' but many of the 'greats' had that same attribute considering that to be successful in speedway one of the main qualities is the ability to gate. However I've witnessed many great races involving Hans team-riding his partner and passing riders when required in sometimes spectacular moves...too many to remember but I instantly recall races involving him and John Cook, Erik Gundersen, Sam Ermolenko, Kelvin Tatum etc etc who were no slouches by any stretch of the imagination. Due to his ultimate professionalism on and off the track he lead 'The Cheetahs' to three League Championships as well as many other team honours too many to mention where his contribution could never have been under estimated...a true legend and one of the greats. Talking of Ncki Pedersen I witnessed first hand his time spent at Cowley and due to his unprofessional attitude off track (and re-nowned volatile nature on track where I witnessed two exclusions for pointless moves on opponents thereby undermining team ethic and/or contribution) he was sacked for an incident in the pits at Peterborough later turning up at Eastbourne. I have no knowledge of the current spate of Danish riders and therefore can not offer a comment regarding team selection and/or performance.6 points

Few pics from yesterday: https://www.baansportfansite.nl/nieuws/1592/zweden-grote-winnaar-speedway-of-nations-race-off-in-manchester.html First time for me at the NSS and what a brilliant track. Looking forward to come back again.4 points

Belle Vue is, by miles, the best venue now in the UK and all major events should be held there in the same way that all England football matches are held at Wembley.4 points

The point is that Milik used bad tactics. Once he was well in the lead he should have looked round, seen his partner at the back, and slowed down to try and get him through to third - even if it meant sacrificing the lead himself. Not only would it have been better for the Czechs but it would have made for a fascinating race.4 points

Pity no one told Pearson tonight that it's Team GB not England, especially as the sponsors are a Glasgow (that's in Scotland btw for Nige & Kelv's benefit) based Company.4 points

So why did you say anything, Philip? Once again it's a case of "I know something but I'm not telling!" Keep it shut if you haven't got anything to say in full3 points

It was voiced on this forum, immediately after the announcement of the FRN, that a vote was taken and Matt Ford voted to go along with three 2nd division teams, to keep Thursday free for championship . When Ford was questioned about his vote, he replied he voted to enable Poole to operate on Wednesdays... Some say this forum is gospel ; I can understand Ford's logic, it was typical of the 'I'm alright right' philosophy... But why was something so big, in regards to other countries fixture clashes, that is was put to a vote with teams that has no bearing on Ist division racing is beyond me... Surely the BSPA should have detailed Mon and Thursday's as FRN , as was suggested by the FIM, and then asked the teams which league they wanted to join, not give 2nd div teams, the option of day and League they wish to race. They sure made a real pigs ear of everything,3 points

He wasn't necessarily first choice. I would say that Cook and Lambert were there as equals - and then given a ride each to see which one was better to use. Lambert won his heat so was kept in. It was a common sense decision. The only reason Lambert was at reserve was because his age gave us better options. Otherwise he would have probably been in the top two anyway.3 points

Someone else who was there said they hadn't realised Cookie was on a warning, in which case it would have seemed harsh leaving him out of the rest of the meeting, once up to scratch they agreed it was the best decision for the team. I really wish Craig Cook could overcome his problems and start to enjoy a good run of success, it would do wonders for his confidence and GB would benefit too, that said I would push all the way for Lambert to be given opportunity on Friday, he showed more than enough last night to justify him getting rides. For once Rossiter did exactly the right thing last night, if indeed it was his decision to make, from what he said he's a virtual passenger on the managerial side of things now.3 points

That is totally incorrect as far as MF was concerned. The objectors were 2 of the 3 Thursday tracks from the Championship who threatened to pull out of the league altogether. (No problem for the Sheffield/Leicester owners as if Thursdays were confirmed then Sheffield would have been SGBP and Leicester SGBC). If you want to use the 'toys out of the pram' analogy then look no further than Chris Louis!! Thursdays were more than acceptable to Poole as it is and has always been their official published 'rain-off' day. Mondays and Wednesdays were only proposed to get over the impasse as the Championship clubs stuck together.3 points

Telling it like it is is quite simple. Woffinden rode superbly and team rode at every available opportunity, more so than every other rider on show in either semi-final. Telling it like it is, Cook is out of form, fluffed his first ride and was on a warning and was quite right replaced by Lambert. Telling it like it is, you're a very bitter individual with an anti-Woffinden agenda making himself look a numpty.3 points

Could there anywhere less accessible in the country that has a Speedway track?3 points

Before Lambert signed for Kings Lynn Buster told him British speedway was going to be Mondays and Thursday's so he was clear to sign for a Danish team on Wednesdays. It isn't Roberts fault if the BSPA then chose Wednesday's.3 points

Any truth that next time this competition is run, of course that is if it' ran again That all teams have to have 3 riders ? Though to a simpleton like myself it should've been a given for this year. I mean if you're minor nation and can't name 3 suitable riders you should've been refused the opportunity to race on signing in at the track.2 points

Not The Premiership promoters fault either, more like Championship promoters of course. What I can’t understand is why Swindon can use Thursdays and we cannot??? What’s good for one club is good for another surely?2 points

BT are very happy with viewing figures for both the SGP and PL so far this year. Even up against. the Champions League Final the Prague SGP did well.2 points

BS!! Poole have no problems with riding on Thursdays. Can't blame him for everything.2 points

Rosco did the right thing last night, the best two riders were paired 5 times but didn't get his team selection right. Everyone knew the majority of Cook's rides would go to Lambert. So he should have picked Lambert with Bewley as reserve. Leave Cook out the team. Dropping Cook after one heat is complete embarassment for the rider. Rosco will probably do the same at Wroclaw as GB have got Sweden in there first heat. He obviously wants Lambert to ride as first choice so why ruin Cook's confidence and morale more than it is. I don't see the point of that and wouldn't blame Cook if his head went down in the pits.2 points

Unfortunately that isn't Lambert's fault as previously stated2 points

The object of the final and race off (under these rules) is to use any (legal) means possible to get one of your opponents into last place. That is it. Nothing else. Or force them not to finish/start at all, a technique Millik had rather wasted by using it perfectly in heat one. Anyone who has kept themselves free of warnings right to the final on Saturday would be well advised to use the 'green light bunny hop' Millik did last night in heat one to cause a tape touch from the opponent in the final and instantly win the tournament for his nation !2 points

Yes, it was pathetic of him to do nothing, as the senior rider in the partnership, to help his team mate. And yes, it was pathetic of him to blast of and win the race as it meant nothing other than personal glory and guaranteed his team being eliminated. If you don't understand that basic concept, little point discussing with you.2 points

Careful, you'll be taking the title away from ytsjam for ridiculous comment. In any other team sport what do you think the response would be if the commentators got the score wrong? There would rightly be an outcry. But, because we're dealing with speedway, among the more dimwitted people who follow it, it's okay. I am now convinced that you kept posting your witless 'we all make mistakes' rubbish because you were too stupid to actually follow the discussion. Now you make a cheap comment like this. We had another score error tonight, this time on BSI's graphics. Thankfully it was corrected. Getting the score wrong would not be accepted in any other sport, so why is it okay in speedway? Is it such a worthless sport that it doesn't matter? Regarding tonight overall, unsurprisingly the NSS and professional organisation made a silk purse out of this sow's ear and thankfully we had some good racing with the minor nations not being complete cannon fodder. The ridiculous failure of three nations top provide full teams thankfully didn't compromise the situation. i do hope we get a couple of good meetings at Wroclaw. I love the sport and don't want it to fail. but there are too many weaknesses in this 'second and third take all' format which could have an embarrassing finale in heat 43 on Saturday. Yes I love the sport, but the sheer pig-headed stupidity of some of the supporters drives me to despair sometimes. Anyway, to shut iainb up I'll save him some work. We all make mistakes We all make mistakes We all make mistakes We all make mistakes We all make mistakes We all make mistakes But not always on live TV when in front of thousands of people when you're paid well to be taking care not to make mistakes. I understand Nigel has apologised, and it's only right that he did. Apparently to some he doesn't need to get it right in future though..............2 points

Just caught up with the meeting on delayed live and it wasn`t the commentators who made mistakes tonight it was the graphics - wrong scores, wrong riders in wrong helmet colours in race 22 and unlike Saturday no graphics at all in any races to show which riders were in which gates- a shocking performance from those responsible.2 points

As soon as the track was returned to how it normally is,not deep with dirt but slick on the inside and grippy outside the racing improved no end.Thought Morris would have learned that from the World Cup race off in 2016.The NSS isn't a track suited to deep dirt.2 points

Hmmmm that's an interesting signing if true, I suppose he is better than a NL guest but not sure how it makes us stronger, we'll just have to wait and see. Scunthorpe should be interesting on Friday!!!1 point

Aggregate scores after 42 heats. Top team goes to final, 2nd and 3rd to a semi final. Winner of 2nd v 3rd goes into the final. Champions decided purely on result of last heat regardless of points scored in the first 42 heats.1 point

you heard it here first lol I like kus and he's better than a nl guest ……… but this is hardly the signing we need ,,,,,,,,,,,, our team average is now 37.501 point

Matt needs to put away the archive book of averages and the calculator and look after the riders he’s got. With a bit of faith, loyalty and encouragement they should come good. Why wouldn’t you want to keep Kurtz, Grajczonek & Woryna and tell them you’ll build your team around them for the next three years? Batchelor, Tungate, Newman, Kennett, Howarth, Shanes, Starke, Klindt, Andersen and even Chris Holder should all have been treated better. With all due respect to them it never makes sense to keep bringing in stop gap, foreign based riders like Szzzzzpaniak, Lindback, Gomolski, Sundstrom, Jepsen Jensen & Jonasson, who aren’t committed to the UK and never stick around at any club for very long.1 point
