Surely, if Belle Vue cant field a team then Lynn would agree to a postponement . (Seem to remember Poole was given that facility when they were to race against Lakeside some years back). I cant believe meetings like this can ever benefit the sport and any success Lynn may achieve would only be a hollow victory.. anyway. Sure, I would love the Stars to win, but its need to be raced for, not given to them.... Ridiculous situation....8 points

Jordan Stewart was remarkable last night. But please lets keep things in perspective. I'm pleased because I've been saying from day 1 when he wasn't scoring points that I'm watching a Speedway rider (and not some of the pretenders that we've seen here at Redcar in the past), safe, steady & professional. Let's not lumber him with the burden of "the next big thing'' though. Just let him ride! He'll be going to tracks he's never seen before all season long but if he continues to ride safe, steady and professional he'll do ok. Seems like a nice bloke too! Good luck Jordan.6 points

Glasgow enjoying the sarj effect in 2018 . they were warned . he thought he was going double his average and so did everyone else . but it looks like he is only a 3.00 rider all day long .3 points

I can assure you, I monitor all our crowd levels, and compared with theprevious 2 seasons, like on like for this time of the year, they are up3 points

In turn continuing to damage the top league in order to protect 3 clubs in the lower league. Nothing changes. It had been agreed prior to AGM that Mondays & Thursday's would be Premiership nights. That's why they are the protected days, as requested by BSPA, within the International Speedway League bodies agreement3 points

Decent meeting last night, the best at Swindon so far in terms of racing. Swindon always looked relatively comfortable for the win, but did think throughout that Wolves may nick a league point. Fantastic to see a performance like that from Zach, will do his confidence the world of good. Onwards and upwards3 points

Not confirmed but over £3200 raised at Swindon tonight for Mitch. Looks like the GP pit passes both Cookie & Greg donated went for £1000 a piece. Looks well over £10k raised for Mitch, maybe even closer to £15k.....excellent work from all involved & a special mention must go to Lee Kilby who I spoke too at the abbey, sss still walking round at 9pm...how he was able too I’ve no idea!!!3 points

Good luck. It seems the crucial point is to totally reject Brandon Estates' claim that the site is redundant, that both sports have moved on to alternate venues and that there is no professional interest in running the sports at the stadium. This is where the supporters can make a difference in proving there is still a demand for the sports, that the running of the Bees at Leicester is and can only be a temporary move, rather like Coventry City's enforced short-term move to Northampton, and that there are promotions waiting to take it on. In the case of the stock cars I would imagine there would be quite a queue. Bear in mind for BriSCA stock car racing Brandon is their equivalent of Manchester's NSS and if it is their leverage that is needed then it must be totally embraced. Brandon is one track where speedway and stock cars have shared in harmony for decades. That unity is never more vital than now.3 points

If you could just strip away the politics surrounding the sport , the crazy rules that make it look daft , just watch something like that tonight , and speedway isn' so bad3 points

In Poole mode..... 4 points from Lynn at BV will see the Stars on 11 points from just 5 meetings..2 points

IF there was a master plan & IF one point was going to make such a difference they wouldn't have put him in heat 15 in the first place.2 points

I am firmly on the Race Jacket side of the argument. It is far, far easier to pick out your own Team's logo on a Race Jacket, whereas the Team Suits are very anonymous and frequently you cannot make out the Logo because of Sponsors names and their logos. I have always felt that way. That is half the problem with Speedway. The Authorities are always fannying about with changing things that aren't important and ignoring things that are.2 points

Hugely impressed by Flint last night Was IMO the best aside from Bewley in terms of looking like a real racer Loved his all action style2 points

Its not so much that you state your opinion but that you repeat it over and over and over again - usually with a bit of a dig at Poole included. We all get it - you have a thing about Poole - just try to be a bit more innovative and less repetitive! Better still do us all a favour and just give all the Poole threads a break for a while as you've said all there is to say from your perspective!!2 points

Very true, this meeting is certainly not in the best interests of British speedway, If Kings Lynn (Chapman) didn't cancel against Leicester he certainly wont against us, no doubt he sees it as an opportunity to gain away points, that its not his club losing financially only enhances his opportunity. And this is the man who is Chairman and the person who is supposed to be taking the sport forward? I have always liked Kings Lynn as a club and this would have been a good meeting with two full strength sides, sadly im not paying to watch half a side, the money I save will go towards the Swindon trip on the 31st.2 points

Am I ? the 2016/17 FFP rules allow a Championship club to lose up to £13m per season, the assessment period being 3 years. At least potentially, then, 24 teams x £13m x 3 year = £936m. I maintain that I think that the increasing age factor is overstated. Bearing in mind that in the last 3 seasons I have been to over 200 meetings at every track in the country bar two (Swindon by accident, Stoke by design) I think I can speak from experience. I repeat : I suspect that anyone who went to Redcar last night would say that the title of this thread is absolutely correct.2 points

Fantastic gesture by Craig Cook and by Josh Gudgeon. I can't come near to offering anything quite like that, but I do have four Stenners Annuals (1946, 1949, 1950 and 1952) that I can offer - with the cash going to the fund. I know that they are not massively valuable, and unfortunately, the 1946 and 1949 books both have the covers missing which will obviously devalue them for a collector, but if anyone is interested or knows of anyone who is, perhaps they would contact me via this forum. Anyone who is interested would obviously have the chance to inspect them first and change their minds if necessary.2 points

This whole thing can be rectified very easily in 2019. The Premiership runs on Monday & Thursday. Redcar, Ipswich and Sheffield can also keep their Thursday night but in doing so they lose the priority of rider's signed to Premiership clubs where a fixture takes place on a Thursday. Sorted2 points

No I haven't. I'm merely arguing against those who have. It is usually second division supporters on here who come up with a confrontational attitude between the two leagues, and it is always second division supporters who then accuse supporters of teams in the top flight of having a "them and us" attitude when they try to counteract it. From what I see, it is ALWAYS the opposite, and your posts are a typical example of that. Personally I think you'd quite happily see the first division fail, Rob, just because Swindon are in it.2 points

WK i can remember going to Eastbourne one afternoon ( hated there dam claxon!!) and seeing the Italian rider Nano Righetto ride. His bike god it looked like he had just picked it up from Steptoes junk yard what a heep.!!!2 points

I know from when I was younger, that Thursday was the night I started going out as the start of the "weekend". It's just more of a "going out" night than a Wednesday. Wednesday is Denmark's night. Monday and Thursdays are the UK's nights. That is the main problem with Wednesday. Look at the problems at King's Lynn. Unfortunately, your attitude is typical of the lower leagues, who, somehow, see themselves as more important than the top league. The top league should sort itself out, and the lower league clubs fit in with that. It's common sense. If Wednesdays were priority for the UK then, sure, ride on Wednesdays. To be honest, we are lucky to have Thursdays ahead of Sweden and Denmark. It should be used. Is there a reason why Ipswich, Sheffield and Redcar could not switch to weekends? Surely a better time for a lower league club.2 points

Sorry I missed you last night , I watched from the balcony at the bar . Stewart looks some prospect , as you say he had a slow start , just our luck to be down when he turns into Ivan Mauger lol . But seriously to be riding the way he did last night after only a month of our speedway , certainly augers well for the future . He was the difference last night .2 points

He got 1 point in heat 15 which would have marginally reduced his average so your claim has a whiff of BS about it2 points

Wouldn't call it backward thinking, would be highly sensible.. harsh, but sensible. I can't see much happening tbh. They made their bed when they went with Thorssell over Lindgren. It's a team built to win at home and try and pick up a pt or two away and maybe get lucky and catch a team on an off night. They had the chance at Rye and blew it.2 points

You were there so you would have saw first hand, but from our vantage point it doesn't look great . Retiring in most of his races hardly suggests he was on the pace , if you don't perform at your job you would recieve criticism or even jettisoned, so why is James any different incase we offend him, so what if we do he isn't doing his job plain and simple.2 points

Perhaps its about time the nails stopped being added and the sport as we know it has a proper burial Could then have a chance for resurrection Whilst the coffin continues to be paraded in a never ending procession whilst everyone wails in limbo that resurrection cant/wont happen2 points

So we revert to the problems of doubling-up clashes? It's a big problem either way but I can't see any changes happening until the season is over. Personally I would prefer one big league and any riders missing for continental league engagements only being replaceable by a NL rider, that way promoters might be a bit more careful about who they sign.2 points
-
It can. Here’s how. The last line is a give away....... “Our meeting against Scunthorpe on the 19th May will be postponed to a later date in the season due to ourselves being without Nicolai, Dan and Bradley who have been called up for Grand Prix Qualifiers. We would like to thank Scunthorpe for their co-operation in this”.1 point

How many league matches in Denmark and Sweden tonight ? ..we have a league with riders committed to British speedway on nights to suit operators it's called the Nl and the crowds are poor, and if we have one big league with the riders who would leave these shores the standard would only just be above that. And that if you get enough riders to fill every spot seeing we can't even do that now1 point

Yes I was disappointed to have miss to Dan the Wee Man. He's really flying atm. But it clashed with a family arrangement. I've only managed one meeting this season which was at the Showoffground last Sunday. Our boys got a point but it wasn't great entertainment - there seems to be an embargo on shale deliveries there. Can't even get to Lakeside to see our lads tomoroow night. We are about to move from the area next Friday so I might just might try to get along to see how the new Fox Holes look and give our Bandito cousins a wee cheer. If it stays sunny long enough there might still be enough light to see the riders go round the bends!!1 point

The racing at STMP since Terry took over the track duties at the start of last season has been second to none. Yep the team has been struggling so far this season but thats also got something to do with every away rider relishing the prospect of racing at Redcar. Last night as you say was Speedway right out of the top drawer.1 point

You are correct sir- 2 "tests to go" on May 31st they meet Sweden in Poznan and then the Rest of the world which is the 2nd meeting in the Slaski stadium in Chorzow on September 29th1 point

sorry steve , only pulling someones chain . does look stronger , i think .1 point

That strikes me as a post from a supporter of a club which has been able to retain its race night and who is blind to the affect it is having on the sport at large. The fact is that Belle Vue last season with doubling up clashes and despite many fans being unhappy with it attracted significantly larger crowds than they are this year without those clashes. It would seem that at least some of the others who had to switch their race nights are in a similar position. It is still early days into this season and I think we should wait a while longer and see how things develop but I have no doubt that if there is no significant improvement in crowd levels we are getting into a situation that could have disastrous consequences for the PL.1 point

I've added this on other threads in other sections. Craig Cook, on Twitter has offered 2 Cardiff pit passes to the highest bidder with the proceeds going to Mitchell and Team Hancock have now offered the same. Craig Cook @CraigCook111 · 9h So impressed with the walk @LeeRobertKilby is doing to raise funds for my mate @daveyracing91. Here’s what I am going to do. still waiting for those two brilliant away meetings write ups on the official site . still more to follow , ahh well . maybe its better if the press guy/gal missed those last few words off , ( more to follow ) we all would not build our hopes up of having a good read and getting the workington side of things , instead of the moans of the defeated team manager . can we keep this going ? lets hope we can . looking forward to reading about the away @ scunthorpe .come on yooo blus n whitesss .1 point

As everyone has different views on different matters you will never get the accurate report you are hoping for.If you want to believe whoever on here that's your choice. But to actually get as accurate report you want i suppose you have to see it for yourself. I thought there was more overtaking last night than what Ianb is saying he's probably a bit upset with how Leicester performed imo.ugh Ht 1 Schlein stalked Lambert the whole race and went through when Lambert lifted. Ht 2 no overtaking but always close between Kerr/Kurtz Ht 3 same Wells/Proctor Ht 5 Schlein was 3rd and during race picked off both Proctor and Jorgensen. Also Newman came a cropper hitting Proctors back wheel. Ht 7 great battle with K.Andersen and Howarth repassing each other. Ht 8 Kerr taking Newman wide to let Auty up the inside, don't know whether that was intentional. Ht 10 Auty up the inside of Howarth bend 3,he seemed to have the knack of doing that last night. Can't remember whether it was ht 11 or 13 when Lambert stalked Schlein for a couple of laps then stormed under him bend 1/2. We all have different opinions that is what i can remember from last night, now i'm getting older i should write notes in the programme. Must admit didn't realise the meeting went on until 21.55pm are they sure on this,i went to the meeting in the bar afterwards had a pint and listened to the riders and was home by 22.30pm.And i done a full lap of the track as they shut all the gates bar the one on bend 4.I normally park outside bend 2 but that gate was shut so i went all the way around to come back again. As well as not remembering everything i ain't as fit as i use to be neither.1 point
