He must of got you guys confused with Plymouth... Mind you, the way Poole have been riding so far it'd be easily done5 points

Somerset were excellent last night. On Monday they had a good result at BV. Charles Wright had a nightmare at BV and the Rebels could well have come back with 3 points if he rode to his normal standard. This is the the first time I have seen either team this season. Living half way between the two tracks we used either one. From this showing Somerset are going to surprise a good few teams this year. A well balanced and effective team. Poole on the other hand I feel will have to make some decisions re their team. Chris Holder coming back will make them stronger but I feel there could be more changes than that. On paper they looked strong but you ride on the track not paper. The track was not up to its normal standard and for much of the meeting there was no overtaking. After heat 5 they did track grading. They did a great deal after heat 3. Jason Doyle came out onto the centre green and explained that there was too much dirt on the inside of the track and it was dangerous. He said it was dangerous and hoped the track work would improve things but it would take about half an hour. Racing did get better but not up to the normal standard at Somerset. Enjoyed the meeting however, must say it was very cold and glad to put the heated seats on in the car to come home. May the Rebels continue their fine form and the Pirates make the changes they need. I am sure with this both teams will be in the mix at the end of the season.5 points

I wonder if Matt is beginning to think when will I wake up from the nightmare which has so far been 2018. Firstly it must have cost a tidy sum to put together that 70th Anniv meeting in March which was rained off and the cost to put together that dinner/dance and all the accomodation/flight costs of those special guests. No meeting and no income must have been a big hit to his pocket. That was followed by 2 home rain offs incl the normally well attended and no doubt profitable Bank Holiday meeting against local rivals Somerset. Next we have the situation of Chris Holder which is no nearer conclusion despite earlier comments of it taking approx 2 max 3 weeks when first announced in March. The lack of any news from the club on when it may be resolved not forthcoming instead just a stony silence yet he is racing in Poland and for Australia also in Poland only yesterday as well as best pairs meetings. The lack of any news or a sensible update hardly helps. I find it hard to believe they cant put at least some kind of anticipated time frame on a resolution to the personal situation. Then there is Kildermand the cover (or maybe something more permanent) performing as some of us with an idea thought he might i.e to his Polish form of the last 2 seasons instead of that flair SGP rider many thought we were getting. Add to this both the Poles and Sundstrom struggling. One I can maybe understand but all 3 ??. Then again Sudstroms POL form both last year and this is enough to tell the story. Spaniak - God knows whats happened there as although he did have a good season last year in both Nice 1 and SEC (did ok), maybe looking deeper into his previous seasons in Nice 1 tells its own story as nowhere near what he was last year. Even Rybnik (where he rides as first heat leader) may end up dumping him after his woeful efforts this year so its not just a UK thing. Woryna - Its as if you can discount his 2017 brilliant POL EXL season and he has gone back in UK to riding to the level he was in 2016 ??. POL he seems to be holding up ok but then so far still not the brilliance (so far) of 2017and he is riding one league down. He is only 21 though and definitely worth keeping. Thought he would be one of our 2 reserves which was a brilliant move (before Spaniak came along). Maybe Matt has plans on that front from June onward anyway where I think he will really shine. Then there is the team kevlars story which was put out with what they deemed as positive spin for being the only Prem Team not purchasing team kevlars. Have never agreed with it and when you get the likes of Woryna in those red kevlars looking so out of place to the others can you really tell me that is progress ?? Matt himself said he was having to cut back on costs but maybe nearer the truth was the amount of money thrown a the 70th Anniv meeting and Dinner/dance which no doubt such a saving contributed towards the ultimate PR disaster due to the rain off. Of course maybe he had hindsight thinking that maybe at least 2/3 of this team may not be riding in it come June ?? Even so I dont think the use your own kevlars creates the right team image although some die hard fans will probably disagree. Believe me I was brought up seeing Speedway from 1970/71 as a teenager so was used to riders having their own leathers back in the day. The sport has moved on and all top teams have team kevlars and personally I prefer it that way. Of course Matt may not want to awake from his nightmare at the moment anyway. Doesn't he have Spaniak and Woryna lodging with him when they are in UK and possibly Sundstrom also stays over ??. Chances are he probably wants to skip the morning after the nigh before breakfast chat anyway as he contemplates possibly serving some eviction notices as the situation worsens. In fairness to Matt I dont thing anyone forsaw the beast from the east and the continual rain that hit us the way it did causing such nightmares. Also certainly not having a situation like the Holder delay as well as so many riders not performing to what we know they are capable of in a league weaker than both POL Leagues. I feel a bit for Brady. Only 21 - still learning and not an out and out number 1 so early in his career. Of course he will have up and down meetings but thats how it is when you are on the progression path. He needs a true number one in the team like he has in POL so he can concentrate on his own riding and not carrying the can for the whole team. I still have faith in Matt sorting it but for sure I dont envy him the task as its not easy, notwithstanding what cost may be involved when money is thin on the ground in UK Speedway.4 points

The regs do indeed make no mention of serious illness or emergencies relating to family members and I agree therefore do not cover Richatds situation Equally Lakesides statement makes no mention either and so was incomplete and open to scrutiny It didnt need to give details but just be accurate. It implied his illness was the reason. It shouldve explain it was compassionate dispensation. No one wouldve argued with that or demanded further information in those circumstances4 points

Once again Matt has pulled a rabbit from the hat... Matt again shows he is one step, if not several steps, ahead of his rivals with the Polish lads he has brought over.. Middlo will ensure our new lads settle in quickly and start banging in the points.. It's great to have Leon over here till Chris can start riding for us. The work done on the track should definitely mean great racing this year.. There's only one clear winner of the 'Premchamship League' this year.. We have to get rid of (insert name here), he will never even achieve his average never mind what everyone thought he would do.... We need to bring (insert name here) back, we should never have left him out in the first place.. The tide was in so that meant the third and fourth turns were bumpy.. Etc etc etc...4 points

You have neatly avoided my question though. Where do you think the promotion will find the money to make the changes you want if so called fans like you, don't turn up for meetings?4 points

Enjoyable meeting once the track came good. Disappointed by the lack of credit given to Somerset on here. Excellent team put together by Mr. May. Jonas and BWD are certainly going to be our trick shot this year. I think once the track settles down were in for a treat this season. Poole looked poor but I’m sure they’ll scrape their way into the playoffs at the last second with some dodgy signings, like they always do. I have to say the moral of the Poole boys on that track looked dire. Heads down, no communication, no passion. I can only assume the atmosphere on this forum transcends into the pits. Can’t wait to finish the job in Dorset.4 points

As I said before a wheel was turned that a lot of Poles don’t bring their form over here so was 2 risky signings and Linus was never likely to match Hans. Kurtz needs to step up and start scoring 12-13 a meeting not the 7-10 he is managing , seems to me like his priorities are in Poland. The Poole team was built around the top 5 scoring heavy with the potential that the number 6 should be capable of scoring well and then Shanes would only need the 2-3 points a meeting. Those idiots calling for Shanes to go are deluded. Yes he is a weak reserve but that’s how the team was built. He isn’t going to score 6 or more a meeting , he simply is being let down by his team mates4 points

The best way to reward a sportsman for their efforts on your team's behalf is to support them later when the going gets tough. It seems that Rye House has quickly adapted to the top tier, love them when they're winning but the moment anything goes wrong put the boot in. As for the pathetic excise of "We pay their wages, we can say what we like", well firstly you don't pay the wages, the promoter does, and with the state of modern speedway in this country the 'fans' only make a contribution. The proof of a true supporter lies not in how they deal with victory, but how they deal with defeat. Constant calls to sack this guy or that guy do NOTHING to help. Yes, you can say what you like, within the law, but it doesn't mean you should. A grain of intelligence might be useful.3 points

r/r will make worky stronger @ home and thats what the fans want . + klindt and any other rider should be allowed to chase the dream of world stardom . fans will still turn up and pay for the speedway drug , until they run out of cash ! all this mickey mouse stuff goes with the sport . you could always take up cross stitch if you are looking to fill in your time , but something tells me you will still be posting and moaning like the rest of us for years to come ...2 points

I accept that race suits are good for uniformity and professionalism, but that Sheffield suit is ridiculously fussy, odd bits of blue, black and white with a tiny splash of yellow. I'd make the same obsevation about the Ipswich and Belle Vue suits from what I've seen. One of the things that's being lost in this fussiness is team identity and particularly through the use of team colours. Anyone looking at those Sheffield suits would have a hard job guessing that the club colours, which you'd prsumably want to use on publicity etc, are blue and yellow.2 points

Whatever you say or think about Steve S he is at least going to the meetings and giving his full support as well as his money. Where do you think the money comes from to make the changes you keep banging on about? So no, you do not need to go to realise the team are struggling but maybe your support in person not to mention the entrance fee might just lift the team.2 points

The glory supporter is turning on the loyal fans who go home and away supporting their team!!! You couldnt make it up2 points

The problem with those calling for Davey's head is who would be picked to replace him? He is one of the form riders in the NL and that is largely the pool of riders you have to play with given the averages. Hume or Mountain would be the other sensible contenders but both ride Thursday nights for Ipswich so virtually rules them out. Would need a double change and re-declare under the limit. Does switching Davey & Musielak for 2 x 4 pointers make any sense? Think the robins will have to stick with Mitchell and help him the best they can2 points

I know as a Somerset fan it is easy for me to say but I think James will come good ! He is delivering his average albeit leading a team mate home or visa versa. I feel there is lot, lot more to come from Smiler ! I have watched his exploits on grass as well and he is dynamic, he needs time to transfer those skills to the shale. Every team has someone they have to be patient with and I believe James Shanes is Poole's, be patient Poole and let the lad work his craft and it will pay dividends. Good to see so many of you at the Oaktree last night. Remember, "Every dog has his day", yours will come again. BE PATIENT with James.2 points

Don't you think though that szczepaniak got to be replaced who fits though . That's why I think James is struggling if James is at the back he is chasing his own team mate all the time ?2 points

I just wonder whether, to any newcomers to the sport, those in the top photo - when they've donned their helmets and goggles - all look too much the same I remember the individuality of the appearance of riders like Mauger, Wigg, Boocock, Broadbanks, Silver, Cowland, etc, which somehow added to the experience as they were so immediately recognisable from the terraces and stands Particularly in these days of so many journeyman riders, making them all so anonymous is detrimental - race jackets (bibs) did us well enough for so long - and anyway, in team racing, it's helmet colours which are the easy way to identify the team members on track2 points
-
Poole fans will continue to get behind the team. It is far too early to panic, i said before Sundstrom was a risk too inconsistent for me and Szczepaniak should be cleaning up at reserve but is out of sorts at the moment, the team has to be given more time and i am sure things will improve when CH returns.2 points

Don't understand the clamouring for Shanes to be replaced. He was never going to rip up trees but is getting his average so is doing his job.2 points

Good god talk about a few headless chicken Poole fans running around thinking the end of the world is nigh. Matt Ford Fan is not a Poole fan. Probably never been to Poole Stadium in his life. So we have started the season on the wrong foot with a few in the team off form. Not the end of the world. Trophies are won at the end of the season. If you think that Matt Ford isn’t going to deal with our poor start, then you don’t know Matt. Everything will be just fine. I am 100% sure we will be in the playoffs with a very good chance of silverware come the end of the season.2 points

Lindgren must have been getting this same dodgy batch for years then, as what I see this year is exactly the same as we have seen since the day he joined us. Promises so much, delivers very little, excuses always given, and never can be truelly relied on when needed.... He is who he is, an enigma, who will score an 18 point max against the odd day his confidence is high at home, will pass the odd star in a race at home and have everyone on their feet..... for that we get average performances at home being beaten off riders with half the potential and sometimes half the age, and away will always score next to nothing...... except Edinburgh and the odd Redcar. Amazingly his engines always work at Edinburgh and on those days he rides Redcar well, every year they always play up at all the other tracks.2 points

Seeing as this meeting doesn't count towards the averages and can't be used for fiddling, it's official - Poole are officially the worst 'best side on paper' ever.2 points

No , without the paying public there would be less clubs. The paying public and keyboard warriors are not necessarily one and the same, especially as several of those poking their noses into this issue wouldn't be going through the turnstiles in this match if Richard was riding.2 points
-
They did put out an accurate statement. They said Richard was unavailable due to illness , which was true. They didn't say it was his illness. The problem arises because half wits like you start reading things that aren't there and start stirring it. Riders are human like everybody else. In all honesty if a family member of a speedway rider or anyone else is taken I'll suddenly would you seriously expect a statement giving any more than the most basic information? The bloke has enough on his plate without the gossip mangers casting aspersions .2 points
-
Not sure it's particularly bright to have a pop at the fans after scoring 0 from 4 as a number 1. Best thing would be to shut up and sort yourself out. He's on a downward spiral now and isn't the rider he was 10 or even 5 years ago. He's struggling in the league below, so that says it all. The fact he is number one at Rye is probably unfair on him as he's nowhere near that level anymore and the Rye promotion need to recognise that very quickly.2 points
