Danny Bird used to fly up , so maybe he will . In the aftermath of the disappointment of a much anticipated weekend of speedway being washed out we have learned three things . 1 The weather is thankfully meant to start warming up this week 2 In a league of only 11 teams , there's no reason to start the season before the middle of April 3 From certain posters on here apparently only Edinburgh have proper rain offs . Everybody else , especially Glasgow , have an ulterior motive for calling a meeting off lol .5 points

His full leg is in plaster cast which tells me it could be a very bad break and may be season ending. If we were to do s straight swap then I would go for Eric Riss, lassie bjerre or Patrick hougaard. But they make us weaker so as cruel as it seems maybe a squad rebuild would be better Stevie drozdz and jye out. Bringing in lassie, Eric and auty Cook L bjerre E Riss Tungate Fricke Auty Bewley3 points

In a meeting with so many positives A fine mild evening fit for Speedway The Scorpions living up to the billing A "good looking crowd Jason Garrity's debut 15pt maximum! A great track surface that Garrity loved ! A 26 point Home win Scorpions Heat winners 14 out 15 races All the Scorpions playing their part. A great after the meeting Q & A session for 20 mins in the Club house that all of the riders bar Stevie & Stefan attended ! Thank you guys. Just one "downer" Stevie Worralls Heat 11 crash that looked nasty chasing Jonas Anderson on the outside going into lap 4; there was just "no give" with Anderson and Stevie ended up pinned up to the air fence and no where to go but right ? ! into the air bag which "blew out alarmingly" as man & machine "went in" at high speed coming to a sudden stop!. It did not look good and there was at least an half hour hold up while they sorted him out in the ambulance on track. We don't know the outcome ? Josh Auty rightly refused to comment when asked about it during Q &As.. But it looked a sickner and may yet prove an immediate blow to both ourselves and Aces if Stevie is now sidelined for a period ? We will have to wait and see where this takes us. Get well soon Stevie who has a big break through season on the domestic; European and World circuits. So lots of positives and we'll take those and the irrepressible Jason Garrity publically promising he and the team were determined "to do the business" for the fans; bodes well indeed. What a character Garrity is. Also Gino seems a real personable club orientated guy keen to do well and get back in to his UK Speedway after two enforced years out. So yes we'll take the positives and go again at Redcar next week. But as good as we are as a 6 minus Stevie; we really must hope that his recovery is full and timely and we are a 7 again just as soon as we can be. Riding a man down already was never a part of the "grand plan" and the sense of "come down" regarding Stevie was like the air coming out of that "exploding air bag!3 points

I think you'll find they need the sales to grasstrack and overseas supporters. Small price to pay for the survival of a magazine that, let's be honest, was dumped by a major publisher (IPC) and had to be rescued by the brave efforts and financial risk of its own editorial staff. With the sport collapsing in Britain they needed to do anything to prop sales up.3 points

im not sure how the hell JBA was taking the wide line Stevie had made a fantastic pass on the out side down the home straight then rightly clamped JBA on the kerb[100% fair and clean move],sadly there was a little contact from then on in the unfortunate Stevie was just a passenger and couldnt get off the bike in time you will not find a nicer guy in speedway than Steve and id say he was pished off at JBA nipping him up against the fence on the previous lap, enough to rip Steves inside bike cover off such a shame as it was a super race up to that point,im the impressive Steve giving chase for 3 laps to be fair to JBA, he was straight round to Ste after the race and off the bike checking on him, one other point,i hate to see folk running around to the point where the crash happened and hanging off the fence looking,Stevies young family are present and im sure they dont need running commentary from some un educated clowns hanging off the fence,,,,,,,,,,,ffs, show some respect2 points

Harsh according to most people's description of the incident. That is Stevie just shooting from the hip upset his season has been ruined.2 points

Lovely sunny day in Wroclaw Max Fricke riding as no 8 which presumably means he takes the rides of Drodz at 22 points

This is one of the very few meeting's I expect us to lose this season. Leicester by 4 or 62 points

Meetings are called off way to early these days. It seems minimum effort is put in to stage a meeting of there is any threat of rain.2 points

Like some say, cut them a bit of slack, its early days,,,, at least the team will always be trying,,, very2 points

Really like the look of this Leszno side, well balanced, bags of experience with excellent reserves - oh & Piotr Pawlicki to return too. Gonna take some stopping in 2018.1 point

My opinion is based on it being our first meeting of the season. Leicester have already had one meeting at home. add that to the fact that they have a very good looking team more than capable of beating everyone at home and it’s realistic to think they will win on Monday. I am still going up to cheers on the boys and hope we do better than I am expecting but there’s a few places where getting a result will be difficult and this is one of them1 point

I don't think any concern is necessary after three matches in any context really. There are riders up and down the country who will take half a dozen or more meetings to get going. Nicholls is a class act at this level and will score plenty of points this season.1 point

Monarchs official site will carry updates as a last resort for you Sue. also no Joel Andersson for Monarchs tonight he hurt his shoulder in his heat 14 crash last night. Hope is he will be back on Friday1 point

Unfortunately Steve Worrall has fractured both tibia and fibula just under his knee which will mean a spell on the side lines. Sounds like he is non to happy with Jonas B Anderson.1 point

Steve has described JBA as a 'desperate idiot' on Twitter, he certainly has got a bit of a reputation.1 point

This Scunny side will take a lot of beating at home even without Steve mainly because they could have a different top scorer everyweek not reliant on one rider. Can they do it consistently away?? Auty /Garrity/and Allen are key if those three can up there game away i can see it being a great season for the Scorpions. Also with this year you have a great team a great fair track entertainment second to none and exciting riders in Auty/Allen/Garrity to see ride everyweek hope the club get the crowds they deserve.1 point

Well that’s my first visit to Arena for quite a while and to be fair nothings changed. It’s still very basic facilities and the track was it’s usual super slick. The racing was generally poor with little genuine overtaking but interest was somewhat maintained because the Panthers managed to stay close until the latter few heats. Morris was very quick out of the starts but even he couldn’t make any impression when outrapped by Ostergaard. I don’t see many teams getting anything out of Lakeside but on the other side I don’t see them getting much on the road either. Nicholls needs to sort his machinery out, his track craft is good but his trapping is awful.1 point

Crowd is difficult to say in the dark, and I don’t know what to expect crowd wise atCL level. It was far, far better than the crowds at NL meetings and I guess slightly below average for the old EL but didn’t look bad to me. Started on time and I thought ran very smoothly with I think only two races stopped both when Bowtell fell off. I disagree with Liam, I thought there were some good races, perhaps because it was quite tense until the later stages and at one stage I thought the Panthers were going to win. Not a single 5-1 in the whole meeting shows there was some tenacious riding.. I would say 9/10 for a smooth running meeting and 7/10for racing . If they are all like this for the season It will be a decent season. All subjective of course. I think the TR rule is a bit of a farce when a rider of Scott’s quality can replace a reserve like Tom Bacon not that it affected the result but it could have done. Cracking ride by Richard Lawson to win that race though. Nick Morris was a class above the rest.1 point

Stevebrum is doing a Gavan. When Leicester win, which is more than likely, both will come on here and say Poole chocked.1 point

We all know he’s not a no 1 and to be fair he has been put in a difficult situation by the make up of the team/promotion but 3 points even for a no3 should be better, however it’s the first meeting of the season,no practice day got to cut him a bit of slack if he rides to his average there can be no complaints1 point
-
I thought the crowd looked good from where I was sitting but the meeting did seem to drag on a bit. It wasn’t one of the better meetings I’ve seen it was a bit gate and go with little passing with the close score keeping it a bit tense. Didn’t seem like there was much grip on the outside which hasn’t been the case in previous seasons. All the riders rode well except Bowtell and the Peterborough reserves who all struggled and Morris was in a class of his own.1 point
-
Wasnt it Phillips that was the Peterborough asset that switched to Scunny1 point

Lambert should be doing better at reserve or has the captain syndrome struck him now1 point

Yes Charles was really on the gas. When he missed the gate he was flying around the boards, no fear very good to watch. He will be a great signing for the Tigers.utt1 point

I like the red top on the front cover; took me right back to the 60s. Could we have a black and white photo to go with it? Seriously, I do like the new style presentation.1 point

I think grid girls are the least of the worries for Formula 1 and Speedway. Both sports facing a decrease in footfall and TV audience. Many in F1 and speedway failing to connect with a sport they no longer recognise.1 point

You've hit the nail on the head Speedy69. People keep trotting out the line of 'It's 2018, not the 1970's' just because they've read it somewhere. Actually stop, engage your brain. What is happening is minority groups with no interest are dictating what others should or shouldn't be doing and embarking on hate campaigns if companies don't tow along with their views/policies.1 point
