  1. Good plan, apart from the fact that Rye House meetings will be on Mondays & Wednesdays.

  2. It's very simple. If the governing body invent a set of rules they have to be: 1.Make sense. 2. Fair. 3. Be applied equitably (same for everyone). Then this is legal and not open to challenge. For example, the points limit for each club passes the above 3 rules. So is not open to challenge. Build a side to 60 points and it cannot be justified within the rules and cannot be accepted, legally. Invent a rule that doesn't pass all 3 rules (e.g. rule 3) and you are liable to challenge, legally. Are we clear?

  3. Let's hope so. Perhaps with us not riding every Sunday he could pick and chose his other sports meetings. We got used to that with our former no 1 last year.

  4. Because team building points limits apply to every team and are lawful. The 'ruling' preventing Scotty and Eddie from doubling down was NOT LAWFUL ...

  6. In isolation that's all Peterborough may have gained but since Holdergate the BSPA haven't been allowed to run in their usual unnacountable self interest manner, so in the longer term Rathbone's fights might benefit everybody.

  7. I think you're right. While its a very reasonable point to suggest that Rathbone (with the backing of the SCB) has forced the BSPA to change an unfair and illegal rule, all it has gained Peterborough is a rider on a hugely inflated average.

  8. Why does anyone care how Kurtz, Fricke or Morris do abroad? It’s how they do over here that matters and last season Morris was better than Kurtz and Kurtz better than Fricke i couldn’t give 2 monkeys who is better in Poland it’s how they perform over her that matters, which is why there is still a doubt over Woryna and MS. Doesn’t matter who he beats abroad it’s who he can beat over here

  9. Phillips has proven that he can be amongst the points in the Championship, whereas the other 2 haven’t. Surely it’s a no brainer?!

  10. It didn't apply to all riders, riders with a higher average were allowed to ride in the CL it discriminated against riders that didn't ride in the CL last season. the old rule was applied to all riders in what is now the PL with an average over 6, so didn't discriminate against anyone

  11. It’s so basic, All Speedway riders are Self Employed they agree to ride for a club until the end of a season, Due to the fact they are Self Employed they can ride for any other club in the world excluding the UK, His UK club do not deduct Income Tax or NI Contributions, but yet they are assets of a Company, Any Accountancy would tell you the system is completely illegal never mind a Legal Expert.

  12. I'm 100 percent in agreement, young English lad that has just had best season ever, and a crowd pleaser, now not given another chance in the the league that will help him improve the most.

  13. Who's windition? By the way I never miss a home meeting. Been a regular for a very long time and support the team no matter what. Unlike yourself who picks which meetings they go to. That's what i call a plastic Speedway supporter. A true supporter supports through thick and thin.

  14. Possibly when Scott waded in with lawyers and a QC or two they stepped in Pity now this has been overturned, people can't all do the same for the young guys starting out in the sport who can't get a place due to overseas riders, needing visas to ply their trade here, like Nathan greaves, Joe Jacobs and Ellis perks. They too might be multi British champs, good servants to the sport, if only they were given the chance. Edited to add, sorry should probably put the second bit of this post on the other thread

  15. Glad someone said this. I admire Bomber hugely (my son is called Harris) but although many fans have similar feeling towards Horton we have to remember the club Coventry Bees is far bigger than any individual.

  16. Both the same age 21 , and you cant really guarantee anything, can you ? nobody can

  17. Must agree with Gemini. If Harris has a personal grievance with Mick Horton, he should keep that private. The Leicester venture, risky as it obviously is, does not need comments from Harris to try to destroy it before it starts. Whatever the case for the Bees, the fact is that ANY Speedway needs to be supported, no matter in what name, or who the promoter is. There will be 7 young riders at Leicester wearing a Bees bib and THEY deserve to have the lift that fans can give.

  18. Don't get me wrong Starman, I like Brady he is young and entertains crowds, but to say he will be far better than Fricke is similar to saying Crump was far better than Adams, he wasn't and I'm pretty sure you'll agree on that. As for Dan becoming a good rider, he already is a good rider, he has only just turned 18 this month, so for a 17 year old in his first season in the top flight to beat F Lindgren,(who is nigh on unbeatable round the NSS) says alot about his ability. So yes I rate Dan very high and the fact that he is British excites me even more, another Brit I also rate highly is Zach Wajtknecht at Swindon, he has beat Dan round the NSS , and that's no mean feat. There are other Young British riders coming through, keep your eye's on K Bickley, T Brennan is another to watch. These lads are our future Team GB riders, and I firmly believe they are better prospects than any Aussie of the same age.

  21. ...I'd agree regarding "it isn't always about racing" as I used to enjoy having a good chat with those around me but when those people began to noticeably diminish over a period of a few years (for many reasons) the attraction began to wear a bit thin and it was left to just a few to add some bite to proceedings. In fact the racing sometimes became very much secondary on occasions!

  22. How can it be that Morris is on a point less than Nicholls in the CL (for which Nicholls had no average) when Morris has a (much) better PL average. The rules continue to be a joke!!

  23. Exposure on TV can help to remind the public that speedway exists and hopefully make them want to go and watch it live. Whether these are new or lapsed fans is immaterial, as long as they attend. Equally whether a viewer is a regular attendee at matches or just watches on TV is immaterial. They contribute to the viewing figures that keep the sport being televised. You could apply the above equally to sponsors. TV coverage to me is a superb bonus that allows me to watch matches that I could not otherwise attend and also maintains and feeds my love of the sport. I suspect I'm not alone. Are speedway supporters really only capable of watching one match a week? Only speedway with its limited, negative thinking, which does so very much to stifle it and destroys the opportunities I mentioned above, could blow it so consistently year in year out. All sports need TV, which is why they clamour for coverage. Well, all but one, it seems.

  25. Is that because its the only team place he has, atm ???,,, there's only Newcastle that could fit him in and, I hope we do,,, be a shame if we can't.

  26. Drawn at Brough in the U-21 qualifier and riding with Ash at Wolves in the Prem.... might go in his favour. Regardless of availability Kennett on 8.3 is a steal when his last 2nd tier average was 9.3 in what was arguably a higher standard league. Remember, there are a lot of blank weekends this season so it's not inconceivable that schedules could be aligned. If not what's to stop Kennet signing as an interim No. 1 until some of those expecting to ride in Poland find out those opportunities are limited. Kennett and Greaves for me. PS loving the Rye on Saturday confusion, hilarious.

  27. In 2016 he rode for Sheffield and I spoke to him after his 0 0 0 meeting at our place. He said he hated it, and couldn't get round it, but I held the second half back for him to have another couple of rides to help him. His average at the Newcastle meetings was 2.18, against his PL average of 2.09. It wasn't a good year for him coming the season after a bit of bother on the track I believe. Last year in the PL he had a Newcastle average of 4.89, as against a PL average for Ippy of 4.49. So actually his average for Brough was better in both years than the average of all the other tracks. 28. Im hoping that there is a place for Nathan Greaves He was fantastic for the Witches both in his scoring and with his attitude and effort Our Massif rider of he year and a great shame he is not back for us this season

  29. The only way any up and coming Brit is going to make it on the International and GP scene is to ditch the comfort of the second division as soon as they can. They need to be riding top flight here and Europe. Dan maybe needs another year in the 2nd tier but I just hope he is able to concentrate on the insecurity of making it abroad and take the knocks and set backs that come with a foreign contract. He has more than enough natural ability to get noticed in the lower tier in Poland and should be looking for options ASAP. And that goes for any next generation rider. The minute you settle for doubling up here you have gone for the easier option of money security over ambition. Many knock Tai however he is on his way to being the our most decorated and celebrated British rider EVER. And he has earned it. Ditched the lower tiers as early as possible and toughed it out abroad until he made a breakthru in the World of Speedway. Might not be a popular decision however that's exactly what these next lot of boys need to be doing. With the 2 night racing it's now possible for Brits to still keep UK league in the future. Let's face it its only the ridiculous one 8 and over rule coupled with the barmy reassessed averages for him and Piotr (a coincidence both are Wolves assets??) that has prevented him riding here this season as he was known to be keen. Hopefully our sport in Britain will make it EASIER for ALL British riders to ride here from 2019 onwards. I too am genuinely excited at the current crop of next generation Brits, I just hope the BSPA don't alienate them in the future like others before them. Tai is just the latest in a long line of Brits they have messed about.

  30. I think your memory may be playing tricks with you!! I will ask Jason for his view of events past when I speak to him next. Earlier post: Dan Bewley in my 50+ plus years involvement in Speedway few others have made the impression on me that Dan Bewley already has. He has everything to become a major world force.

  31. well imo yes but others may not agree my own feelings about 2nd div is it should be weakened to allow easier transition for 3rd div riders but thats my personal opinion - I've always watched div 2 and enjoyed watching improvers

  32. Points limit is the same for all teams, all teams agreed to the points limit Nichols and Kennett were not treated the same as other eiders of equal or even better ability I don't see what there is to misunderstand about this

  33. I believe George has very probably been working under severe constraints in Team Building for the new Season. It doesn't matter what Plans you have, if you can't afford them they are useless. George is bringing Speedway back to Brough Park for this Season and I am very grateful to him for that. I am also prepared to wait and see what he comes up with to complete the Team. Remember we could - conceivably - have had no Speedway at all in the coming Season. You need to cut George, and the rest of the Promotion a little slack here.

A great post and we are on the same sheet regarding Zach i believe in the lad and at home he will be very good.Jenkins,Hume,Kemp, are the three that excite me but i am very surprised Brennan,Thomas (both exciting) did not get Championship spots this year.At Swindon we also have young Anders Rowe to look forward to for the future what was your opinion of him hyderd when he visited the NSS with Kent.?

  38. I genuinely hope you are right but the fact that they tried to enforce this rule after 'Holdergate' doesn't fill me with confidence that they will now start to behave with a great deal more responsibility. Sadly, I think it will only be a temporary setback to the way they run things with Rathbone becoming even more isolated than before.

  40. I would be more than happy if those were our final 2. I think that it would be more than a decent team. Stronger than last year.

  41. Sloppy posting on my part. I was talking about riders dropping down who, until last season's change, wouldn't have had a 2nd division average and therefore wouldn't have been allowed. As far as being the same rule goes, the wording has changed with nearly every issue in the last few years so little wonder that everyone struggles to keep up, although last year's free for all was the major cock up which caused the situation of the last few months.
