Good plan, apart from the fact that Rye House meetings will be on Mondays & Wednesdays.4 points

It's very simple. If the governing body invent a set of rules they have to be: 1.Make sense. 2. Fair. 3. Be applied equitably (same for everyone). Then this is legal and not open to challenge. For example, the points limit for each club passes the above 3 rules. So is not open to challenge. Build a side to 60 points and it cannot be justified within the rules and cannot be accepted, legally. Invent a rule that doesn't pass all 3 rules (e.g. rule 3) and you are liable to challenge, legally. Are we clear?3 points

Let's hope so. Perhaps with us not riding every Sunday he could pick and chose his other sports meetings. We got used to that with our former no 1 last year.3 points

Because team building points limits apply to every team and are lawful. The 'ruling' preventing Scotty and Eddie from doubling down was NOT LAWFUL ...3 points

In isolation that's all Peterborough may have gained but since Holdergate the BSPA haven't been allowed to run in their usual unnacountable self interest manner, so in the longer term Rathbone's fights might benefit everybody.3 points
-
I think you're right. While its a very reasonable point to suggest that Rathbone (with the backing of the SCB) has forced the BSPA to change an unfair and illegal rule, all it has gained Peterborough is a rider on a hugely inflated average.3 points

Why does anyone care how Kurtz, Fricke or Morris do abroad? It’s how they do over here that matters and last season Morris was better than Kurtz and Kurtz better than Fricke i couldn’t give 2 monkeys who is better in Poland it’s how they perform over her that matters, which is why there is still a doubt over Woryna and MS. Doesn’t matter who he beats abroad it’s who he can beat over here3 points

Phillips has proven that he can be amongst the points in the Championship, whereas the other 2 haven’t. Surely it’s a no brainer?!3 points
-
It didn't apply to all riders, riders with a higher average were allowed to ride in the CL it discriminated against riders that didn't ride in the CL last season. the old rule was applied to all riders in what is now the PL with an average over 6, so didn't discriminate against anyone2 points

It’s so basic, All Speedway riders are Self Employed they agree to ride for a club until the end of a season, Due to the fact they are Self Employed they can ride for any other club in the world excluding the UK, His UK club do not deduct Income Tax or NI Contributions, but yet they are assets of a Company, Any Accountancy would tell you the system is completely illegal never mind a Legal Expert.2 points

I'm 100 percent in agreement, young English lad that has just had best season ever, and a crowd pleaser, now not given another chance in the the league that will help him improve the most.2 points
-
Who's windition? By the way I never miss a home meeting. Been a regular for a very long time and support the team no matter what. Unlike yourself who picks which meetings they go to. That's what i call a plastic Speedway supporter. A true supporter supports through thick and thin.2 points

Possibly when Scott waded in with lawyers and a QC or two they stepped in Pity now this has been overturned, people can't all do the same for the young guys starting out in the sport who can't get a place due to overseas riders, needing visas to ply their trade here, like Nathan greaves, Joe Jacobs and Ellis perks. They too might be multi British champs, good servants to the sport, if only they were given the chance. Edited to add, sorry should probably put the second bit of this post on the other thread2 points

Glad someone said this. I admire Bomber hugely (my son is called Harris) but although many fans have similar feeling towards Horton we have to remember the club Coventry Bees is far bigger than any individual.2 points

Must agree with Gemini. If Harris has a personal grievance with Mick Horton, he should keep that private. The Leicester venture, risky as it obviously is, does not need comments from Harris to try to destroy it before it starts. Whatever the case for the Bees, the fact is that ANY Speedway needs to be supported, no matter in what name, or who the promoter is. There will be 7 young riders at Leicester wearing a Bees bib and THEY deserve to have the lift that fans can give.2 points

Don't get me wrong Starman, I like Brady he is young and entertains crowds, but to say he will be far better than Fricke is similar to saying Crump was far better than Adams, he wasn't and I'm pretty sure you'll agree on that. As for Dan becoming a good rider, he already is a good rider, he has only just turned 18 this month, so for a 17 year old in his first season in the top flight to beat F Lindgren,(who is nigh on unbeatable round the NSS) says alot about his ability. So yes I rate Dan very high and the fact that he is British excites me even more, another Brit I also rate highly is Zach Wajtknecht at Swindon, he has beat Dan round the NSS , and that's no mean feat. There are other Young British riders coming through, keep your eye's on K Bickley, T Brennan is another to watch. These lads are our future Team GB riders, and I firmly believe they are better prospects than any Aussie of the same age.2 points

Exactly, Buster and co have made a dog's breakfast of the job but they are the latest in a long line of chairmen and committees to do the same.2 points

...I'd agree regarding "it isn't always about racing" as I used to enjoy having a good chat with those around me but when those people began to noticeably diminish over a period of a few years (for many reasons) the attraction began to wear a bit thin and it was left to just a few to add some bite to proceedings. In fact the racing sometimes became very much secondary on occasions!2 points

How can it be that Morris is on a point less than Nicholls in the CL (for which Nicholls had no average) when Morris has a (much) better PL average. The rules continue to be a joke!!2 points

Exposure on TV can help to remind the public that speedway exists and hopefully make them want to go and watch it live. Whether these are new or lapsed fans is immaterial, as long as they attend. Equally whether a viewer is a regular attendee at matches or just watches on TV is immaterial. They contribute to the viewing figures that keep the sport being televised. You could apply the above equally to sponsors. TV coverage to me is a superb bonus that allows me to watch matches that I could not otherwise attend and also maintains and feeds my love of the sport. I suspect I'm not alone. Are speedway supporters really only capable of watching one match a week? Only speedway with its limited, negative thinking, which does so very much to stifle it and destroys the opportunities I mentioned above, could blow it so consistently year in year out. All sports need TV, which is why they clamour for coverage. Well, all but one, it seems.2 points
-
For those that were unable to attend, here is some footage taken at the event including many interview with past and present riders and management etc. Brought to you by T2TV Media & Speedway Portal Apologies for the large embed2 points

At a recent event the promoters of one club inferred that the AGM did not go as well as has been claimed and not all in agreement by any means. Peterborough were not in attendance as Ged suspended and Swales retired. I understand that those in charge did not have the courtesy to inform Peterborough of the outcome.1 point

Don't you think that would give us a very soft centre. With either Aarnio, Wilko, Perks or Morris switching between reserve berth and 2 or 4, we would have riders at no 4 who are not really middle order riders. I think Aarnio or Morris are good riders to have in the No. 2 jacket but think they may struggle at 4. Having said that, I was impressed with Morris last year when he rode at 4 a couple of times. I think we are trying to make the best out of a bad position and if these two (Kennett and Perks) are our best option then so be it. If they are happy to be at the club and really want to ride for us and show commitment week in week out then great.1 point

I've had an NC+ recorder box for the last four years so no idea what they cost at the moment, sorry. To get the complete rosta of Polish channels which includes Canal Sports cost me about £250 last year. It included Eleven sports giving me Swedish speedway and British League as well. As a proprietary box you wouldn't get Russian channels. The prices are going up this year, not sure what they'll be yet. The fact that I can record things is a bonus as I can watch some meetings on another day. Hope this helps.1 point

There is still a potential place at Newcastle for Nathan - It would be great if he secured that.1 point

The two cases are entirely different. One was found to be unlawful, and the other isn't.1 point

I'm sure most fans would oppose anything that is unlawful...1 point

They do mate, quite right, but you do need good sponsorship and get the experience by riding the standard, its the only way these kids will improve but not to disolusion them., and thats why i say Dans got to keep doing what he's doing and keep banging on doors. but ive known some kids who have natural abillity and could go far but dont get the backing. Ive not seen this Brennan Thomas ride, but as you say, Kyle Bickerly has the potential.1 point

Not sure if he does much oval racing these days but he got seriously into grasstrack last season which is mainly a Sunday sport.1 point

I've only seen Dan at Poole and on TV and I think he has got natural ability as well .and in couple of years he could be easily the no 1 Brit1 point

Doesn't Kennett race stocks (not sure what day) and I'm not sure why people are suggesting Perks, in his last appearance at Brough he was woeful.1 point

That speaks for itself really. I was just looking for the positive in the example and that's the best that I could come up with.1 point

It is not the ambition thing that is the problem it is getting the package and finance to keep progressing with your aquipment.Bewley has come a long long way in a short amount of time i don't want to go overboard on him to early as the likes of Mel Taylor,Mark Courtney,Lewis Bridger a few examples who did not fulfil there potential. But i am pretty confident in Dan he will certainly be a regular in the World team cup team and i would love him to stay at Belle Vue for a long time as I can see him being a dominant home rider that track suits him down to the ground. As for Fricke/Kurtz i respect your view but i see Max at the Abbey at the end of the season and he slammed Doyle in one race and looking very fast a class act in my view both will be in the mix for a future GP spot.1 point

don't think nicholls (be had a good season if he gets anywhere near 8.5) is the problem with the team1 point

As others have said Phillips is a much better bet. We want to see 7 potential race winners in the team ,not 6and a rookie.Sod's Law will say someone will get injured and then a non performing rookie is a liability.1 point

Allegedly the Rugby Clowns were so happy and telling everyone what a success it was last year they forgot to thank the Peterborough promotion for staging it, and on a point of principle Mr Rathbone said Peterborough would not stage it this season. But the official line might be the Showground is not available.1 point

No, it used be that no rider with a top league average over 6 could ride in the lower league at all.1 point

Good day yesterday – excellent turn-out and so many familiar faces. One thing, though. What’s gone wrong with speedway, when more people will turn up for a celebration of speedway’s past, than an actual speedway meeting with the sport’s current stars? Yesterday’s attendance will put most meetings this year to shame.1 point
