  1. I think generally it's a good thing that these two riders look like they'll be able to ride in the second division after all, as it makes the league more competitive and gives two Brits more racing. However to stop a team (Lakeside) from signing them back in November and then effectively putting them back on the market three months later is really poor. Why can't speedway get its house in order as soon as the season finishes so everybody knows exactly where they stand? It always seemed daft to exclude Nicholls and Kennett from doubling up while still allowing Morris, Harris, Cook etc to do so if they wish. Once again something not thought through at all.

  2. not knocking the scott nicholls thing by being able to ride in the champ . so who is in charge of speedway? why do we need 2 decision makers , when in fact , only one can make the call . first decision makers makes a new rule or whatever it is to exclude prem riders over 6.00 from champ . second decision makers over rule first bunch of muppets on their decision , but only after they had , had another look at their first decision and thought it was correct in not allowing 6.00 riders into the champ . now we all sit back and wait for the truly momentous worst decision in speedway history . the sport is an utter let down and will never progress while muppets are in charge of a once glorious sport . back handers . lies , rules that are not rules . when is it going to end .(maybe when we get rid of all the corrupt goings on in speedway ) run by idiots and scammers who only line their pockets to suit themselves .

  4. I guess I'm one of the few. Have you ever thought it's because we actually CARE what's happening to something that has been a big part of our lives for so many years. I would like nothing better that to spend an entertaining evening at Saddlebow Road as I've done so many times in the past. That's not moaning or complaining, simply explaining.

  5. If only some folk would acknowledge that not all in the garden is rosy maybe negative stuff wouldn't have to be repeated. I hope the weather for the first meeting is warmer than it is today Is that positive enough

  6. Mr Pairman speaks from genuine experience; and that could be repeated by many other promoters going back decades. And still people here are not prepared to listen. I have lost count of the number of times I have personally taken up a one-off offer to sample something new or different at reduced price. Cinema Tickets, Rugby, Cricket, Football, Local and London Theatre, Restaurants and many more things over many many years And yet I count up very few where I have ever returned to the same venue or event when it is full price on the back of that offer-visit.. Even when I really enjoyed the experience immensely. In fact, the knowledge that a cheaper offer may one day appear in my inbox is reason enough to wait until it does Or take up a totally different offer from somewhere else. I cannot really expect other people to do differently to what I have done myself, often. So why are so many people here convinced otherwise just because it is Speedway

  7. Baggy, What I want is something that has been missing for sometime at Lynn. That being a decent nights entertainment. I guess im Lucky 18 quid does hurt so bad for me....Some it does.... My Boy who use to drive in from Norwich now deems its too expensive when you factor in the increase in fuel costs. For him ( he has been going since he 8 or 9) its the straw that has broken the camels back. Some can moan, Some can say we have to be positive. Time will tell in 6 weeks whether Robin Brundle has had any influence on Buster or not. I'm sorry to say I haven't seen anything thus far to think he has. In truth I cannot wait to be proved wrong.

  8. Some people make me laugh all they do is moan You have to think Buster runs the stars he runs the stadium he run the league as head of the bspa he been to Poland to sort the 3 league rule and he has been trying to sort the TV and he has had to bring in someone to help him at Lynn that being Robin and he has put a pretty good team together if you ask me now stop moaning please.

  10. Careful, that's a lot of moaning gong on, and we cant be having that, but I agree with everything you say . I've given up on Lynn chasing any honours, for to do that we need a happy family all the season. Yes its all very well doing these bonding and fitness sessions creates a happy environment, but as soon as someone voices against Buster all hell breaks loose. I honestly don't think Buster is aware of the amount of fans dissatisfaction from last year, Speaking with him recently, his only comment was how much money he lost... I enjoy my Speedway racing, but gone are the days when I would tear all over the country cheering the lads on. So going down the road to watch them suits me fine. I'm under no illusion that the future will bring much of the same,. The Stars don't have the mentality to be winners. but that don't bother me. While I'm fit and able, I will continue watching the Stars. I'm not the kind of supporter Buster needs to attract, because I'm always there. He needs to appeal to new fans and families, and to do that he has to up his game considerably..... Anymore seasons like last year and he'll lose the few fans he has left.... Ahead, is a big season for Lynn Stars and Buster.... in more ways than you think.....

  12. Now we have someone being negative who is normally positive and moaning about someone trying to be positive who some think is normally negative and the positive one ie Bert is being negative raking over last season by naming Holder and Batch surely it’s time to move on from that one Bert ? stop being so negative be more positive and stop bloody moaning .

  14. If it is, it shouldn't. 2 leagues is the ideal number of leagues, but 3 leagues when there are riders wanting a ride is just not on IMO. The logistics of it are hardly manageable.

  15. Obviously it could go either way with Edinburgh this year . They thought they had pulled a rabbit out of the hat with Becker , but that move was scuppered and that was a huge blow . That could have been the signing which could have turned them into serious contenders . As it is , it's still not a bad side . Wells , while not an out and out number 1 , is a reliable enough top end performer . And there's no reason why Erik Riss cant improve again and possibly even challenge for the number 1 race jacket . The younger Riss struggled after moving out of reserve last season , but he has not reached his level yet and you would expect a point or two onto his average . Big season for Pickering , and starting at reserve will help . Likewise Williamson improved at Workington last year and no reason why that cant continue . Andersson is the unknown and could be anything . 5.25 left for the final rider will maybe mean another foreign newcomer will fill the last position . They don't immediately strike you as a top 4 side , but it wouldn't need too much improvement from two or three riders for that to change .

  16. Don't get me wrong I like Davey, just think JPB is better! However Hume is bound to put at least a point (if not more) on his starting ave, so regardless Birmingham have a fab top 3!

  17. I would disagree, I don't believe the lower average riders will improve more in a weaker league, they're average may improve but only because they are racing weaker opponents! So the following year they may not get a place at all! Surely racing better riders makes it easier to move up into the Championship? JPB was almost unbeatable in the early part of last year in the NL but dropped out of the Championship, having easier rides in NL didn't help him it seems?

  18. It has been said before, but it is well worth repeating....the cost of admission is only part of the reason why people choose (or choose not to) attend an event. Wasps Rugby use the Ricoh, and average 18,000...with their highest attendance this season just short of 27,000. They charge up to £56 a seat, and don't have to give tickets away to get a decent crowd. The lesson to learn is to produce a package of entertainment that fires the public's imagination and makes it a "must see event" each and every time. Then the price of admission is not so important!!

  20. Baggy, If one thing History has taught us with Buster and the Speedway. He doesn't listen. The guy is never wrong.. Even his own flesh and blood has said as much. So go to a Speedway fans forum, for what ? To be told the same old, same old. Expressing your views to Buster is waste of good breath. As Webby said he pointed out some things that need improving etc and the response he got was...Woo is me look how much money I dropped last season. I cant ever recall in the real good years, Buster saying.....Oh WOW look how much money I've made this year.

  21. It looks like any 4 from 5 for me, Ipswich, Glasgow, Sheffield, Lakeside, Scunthorpe, with possibly only Workington able to get close to that 5.

  22. I do,he is our best rider and only candidate to win the world title, I believe Tai would benefit from riding in the Prem, as all tracks are different and top riders can and do get beat by lesser opponents, surely that would help him to up his game. IMHO Wolves would of moved heaven and earth to fit Tai in.................................................if he really wanted to return.

  23. Exactly - which is what I said in an earlier post.

  24. That would have been a better way to do it. Doesn't matter what the rule is as long as it applies to all riders/clubs, that's what fair means.

  26. When the announcement is made Nichols going to Peterboro is one thing but the rule change will allow other riders into the frame so not sure Eddie K will get or want a place in the championship

  30. Typical Redcar fan, some but not most. I am looking forward to the 4's at Redcar, and I have said so, as I think Kev and Jit will do a good job. Looking forward to it.

  31. When I was involved with Belle Vue, we did a huge push one summer with publicity on local radio and the MEN newspaper for much reduced adult admission and children free. The results were overwhelming with double the normal crowd (though the same turnstile income as usual). We were so pleased with the out-turn that we ran it for the next week. The crowd returned to pre-offer levels meaning we lost a fortune. I concluded that reduced entry pricing was unlikely to increase crowd levels on a long term basis - but were likely to bankrupt the business

  32. I for one have no grouse about Redcar hosting the 4's and hope it goes well enough for them to be considered capable enough to continue to do so, will it be considered good enough should be judged after the event , this is Redcar's chance to prove they are capable and good luck to them I hope it's a success.

  33. That's not the point though is it. You cant claim discrimination for one and not another, or can you?

  34. Think most teams would take young Nick Morris over Scotty tbh, so i agree with you on that...
    1 point
  35. It had been mentioned that if Scott didn't get a team place, it could be discrimination. So if Scott does get a team place, wouldn't that be discrimination against Lakeside? As they were told they couldn't use him.

  36. Hey Tress that is the job of Chapman. He is getting a 2nd chance from some fans, others won't even give him that. Time to deliver. Talk the Talk is all well and good, come April he has to Walk the Walk

  38. Yes it was a scandal that such a well supported sports team, the Romford Bombers were forced to close cause of one blokes campaign. Ironically, the blokes son was a "Bombers" regular and the guy moved soon after winning his campaign. I'm convinced that had Romford speedway been allowed to continue, the Bombers with their huge support would of eventually gone into the top flight and become one of the biggest club sides in the Country, probably much the same as Ipswich speedway did who opened the same year as Romford in 1969! I believe the stadium was knocked down in the late 70's because the football team were struggling and couldn't afford to keep it open, how ironic again! I also think that reopening Romford speedway at the Greyhound track would also be viable even in current times and would be the closest thing we'd have to a London track!

  42. There is an easy solution, if it is a 3-3 in the final. The pair that has scored more points in total over the two days (42 heats) should then be the winners. That would be a fair and acceptable tie-breaker. It would give the overall top point scoring pair something of a bonus going into the final, knowing that a 3-3 would give them the title, while the other pair with a lesser points total knows they have to beat their opponents in that final heat by 4-2 or 5-1 to win the championship.

  43. The Stadium, as is planned, may be o.k. for the needs of greyhoud racing, but is not suited very well for speedway spectators. The viewing will be poor, not enough seats available, and there is going to be problems with not enough car parking. All this will spoil the enjoyment for many to attend a speedway meeting at Swindon. People will slowly but surely dift away, until attendance figures will fall too low for the speedway promoters to keep it going, and the Robins will be history.

  45. The council meeting to discuss this bid is Tuesday, 13th Feb. I have written to the Cabinet Member for Public Health and Sport, Rois Ali (rois.ali@coventry.gov.uk) asking him to lend his support to our desire to keep Brandon open. I acknowledged the fact that the stadium is in the Rugby Borough Council area but set against this the fact that "We don't look good applying to be the City of Sport and at the same time allowing a 90 year old sporting tradition to die [for the sake of 130 houses]."

  46. I seriously was not taking the Michael, apologies if it came across that way. The channel is a godsend, especially but not exclusively for dementia patients. It encourages talking and memories not just about the particular film but where they went to see it, who they were with, going for chips on the way home, the row for being back after 10, trying to copy the style of the actors etc etc. I've lost count of the number of times a confused or distressed resident has been calmed down and become happy with a cup of tea and a chat with them explaining why 'X' was a far better actor than 'y' but 'z' was a heart throb.
